I trust the technician and drove to Scott's valley. Sure enough my light never turned off. I got worried and stopped at Skip's to check my tire pressure. Mike was so very kind and knowledgeable. He quickly inspected my tires. He assured me none of my tires were leaking. And when I asked about the light not turning off he try to reset it. He then tested the sensor and was able to let me know 3 out of 4 sensors were not being detected. And that I should be fine to drive home as none of the tires were leaking. But that I could get the sensors replaced/fixed at a later time since I was on my way out of town. He took the time to assure the safety of my tires and was patient in explaining the issue. And it was free. On their website it states a free tire and brake inspection. So that was a plus but honestly I could not be more happy about the service I had received. I would highly recommend this shop to anyone. My tire inspection was free but I would have paid because their service was top tier. If you are in tire or auto care needs go see Mike at Skip's!

He said it would be about an hour since I was the second one in first thing in the morning. After 2.5 hours I get a call that I'm going to need $900 in repairs including a new timing belt, filter, and battery. I was really surprised by the battery since I haven't had any issues or lags when starting the car. I asked him to look at the date on the battery since I've only had the car for 9ish months and wasn't sure when it was last replaced. Said they weren't able to see the date but that the reading was coming back in the red. I told him to return my old battery to me bc I wanted to keep it, but to switch it out. When I picked up my car, I reminded Luis I wanted my old battery. The date was 02/2025, so I also asked for the read out showing my battery was in the red. He disappeared into the shop and never brought it back. I took the battery to O'Reilly to test it next day and it was totally good, Luis straight up lied. I went back to Skip's, showed Owen the O'Reilly read out, demanded they take their battery out and put my original battery back, and refund my money. It was $275 for the new battery! I told them it was disgraceful to be out here scamming women who come to the shop, and I would be telling the people I know who have been going to this shop religiously for years to be VERY careful if they continue to go here (I talked to them and they won't be returning). Owen was understanding and said he would be formally writing Luis up for this and that the shop is under new management, but this is unacceptable and I do not trust that any of the recommended work was actually necessary and I still shelled out $600 for what should have just been an oil change. TLDR: be prepared to be told you need extra repairs that you do NOT need, especially a new battery. Keep all parts if you do go through with repairs here and confirm the work was needed (keep the old battery and get it tested yourself next door at O'Reilly for free). They see a single woman walk in and see dollar signs. Disgusting.

When I went back it seemed that they were even more busy! I asked if another day would be better, since I hadn't even called first! Bought a set of Cooper 70K warranty tires and paid extra for lifetime rotations and flat repair…read more With slightly less than 40K on the tires the tire pressure sensor light came on while my wife was driving the car home. She parked it in the garage and informed me of the light when I got home early in the evening. I looked at the tire early the next morning and it appeared to be flat. I jacked the car up and took the wheel off only to find a screw embedded in the center of the tread. Should have been no big deal. Since I had paid for free flat repair I took the wheel to them. I could see no physical damage to the exterior wall of either side of the tire. Their employee told me they would check the interior of the tire for sidewall damage when they patched the screw hole. I said fine and left the tire with them for most of the day. When they called I was told the the tire was unrepairable and they could sell me a single, not exact model replacement, tire for $240. Not wanting to pay full boat for a new tire, and thinking it was not wise to match 3 40K tires with 1 new not matching tire, I told them I would come by and pick the wheel/tire up. When my wife stopped in to pick the tire up one of the men assisting her told her that he didn't think that the tire was unrepairable. Since they had remounted the tire there was no way I could examine the interior sidewall for any damage. Being a bit suspicious at this point I decided to bite the bullet and get a new set of Michelins from Costco (on sale). When I purchased the tires I asked them to examine the interior of the tire with the hole and advise if they would have repaired it. On my repair receipt Costco stated that the tire was repairable. So I paid extra for service I didn't get and ended up retiring a set of tires at least 10K before their time. Won't be going back.
