I have traveled to this special place almost every decade of my life. From a single woman in my 20's, back with my husband in our 30s, and with our child in our 40s...and every time I've checked in, opened the windows, and been greeted by the waves, it has felt like home. Ocean Haven Yachats - Beach access is tricky but worth the effort! - Hotels Near Me - Yachats, Oregon

This charming, small inn sits perched above a marine reserve jut 8 miles south of Yachats. The suites are cozy, well equipped and reasonable. Suites come with a small & well-equipped kitchenette, binoculars to look for passing whales, plenty of cozy blankets, organic cleaning supplies & toiletries, and gorgeous views of the Central Oregon Coast. The beach below is accessed by a slightly terrifying descent down a winding, narrow trail, steep steps, rocks and some rope to help out at the end. This access is not appropriate for small children or people with limited mobility. There are much more easily accessed beaches to the north and south of Ocean Haven. However, if you can access the beach, do so! There are amazing tide pools filled with fascinating marine life and the rocks are the favorite lounging spots for several harbor seals. Clamber around carefully as to not disturb or harm the many creatures living in this amazing area. The rock strewn beach is also a very popular spot for hunting for agates of all kinds. read more

Just returned from three nights in the Northview. Due to Covid19 we had to cancel all our travel plans this year, so it was very special to have a little get-away. We rested, cooked, read and used Ocean Haven as our launch spot for exploring from Cape Arago to Yachats. PROS: Amazing views, super clean, everything you need for a comfortable stay. The room was the quietest I've ever stayed in - we never heard another guest or any sound from Hwy 101. We appreciated the steps taken to be eco-friendly (composting, recyling, great hair and body products in the shower), the little touches like binoculars, tons of battery operated lights in case of a power outage, walking sticks in the closet, books and local resources. The kitchen was well-equipped and spotless. I even found a spot to prop my loom and weave! The decor shows great attention to detail. CONS: Only a couple small things...when they say the wifi is "spotty" take that seriously! We had almost no wifi and no Verizon cell except for a random moment about once a day when texts would show up on our phones. Pillows are meh. But hotel pillows are always pretty awful so that's not unusual. Clearly the owners care and are creative souls because it's just a perfect retreat from the views, to the great decor and stone bathroom, to the well maintained stairs/trail to the beach. I have "bad knees" and managed to make it to the beach! read more

If your ideal hotel is a Ritz Carlton, then maybe Ocean Haven isn't for you. But if a you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary, this might just be the perfect place. From the highway, its appearance fails to promise anything special, except for some quirky signeage and yard art. Once inside the North View Suite, however, you are immediately struck by a view of the spectacular Oregon coast & Pacific Ocean whose waves appear to just about roll through the expanse of picture windows (fortunately you're on a cliff higher than the Tsunami Zone). Once you recover from the stunning views enough to settle in, you find yourself enveloped in a comfortable and colorful wood panelled room that feels like a cabin furnished by an artist. Detail touches abound, like beautiful Pendleton spreads on each bed. Why even the bathroom is worthy of attention when you notice that the walls, shower stall, and floor are made from painted sea stones - all hand done! A little hike on a narrow switchback trail through a tall hedge, followed by a short climb takes you down to what feels like a private beach. It really is public, of course, like the entire Oregon coast, but tides and cliffs limit access to just a few. With lanterns, walking sticks, field glasses and more provided by proprietor Christi, the total effect is to draw you out of your day-to-day world and into the ocean environment. Don't look for room service; do look for a complete kitchen in which you can cook up freshly & sustainably caught seafood from Luna Sea Fish House (they have their own fishing vessel), just up the highway. With lots of coastal attractions nearby, it is hard to imagine a more perfect place in which to escape to the Oregon coast. While not exactly cheap, this place is a real bargain. read more

Absolutely an amazing place if you want a relaxing peaceful stay. Nature is the best therapy anyone can have and staying at Ocean Haven Inn is where it's at. Whether you need a mental break, a reconnection with that special someone or to make babies here is the place to do it!! Life is just beautiful and this place and its surroundings say it all! P.S. This cozy little inn is absolutely wonderful. My girlfriend and I were driving down the Oregon Coast Highway when we unfortunately got a flat tire. With no cell service we walked up the road to the nearest house which happened to be the Ocean Haven Inn. The couple that owns this place are some of the most generous people we ever could've come across. They allowed us to use they're wifi in order to call Triple A for a tow truck and on top of that, allowed us to sit on their wonderful deck that overlooks the Pacific Ocean while we waited. They constantly checked on us to make sure everything was ok and they offered us everything from water, to these delicious little chocolate bars. We didn't get to sample the rooms, but the owners were so kind hearted that I'm sure staying here would've been very lovely. Thanks again for all of the hospitality! Next time we drive through we'll have to make it a point to stay here! read more

My wife and I stayed here the first night of our honeymoon and have just returned 30 years later. Our old room is now the garage but we liked the new room even more. We stayed in the "South View" room and was very pleased with everything. None of the other places we've stayed at on the coast have a comfortable place to sit and relax but this room has 2 recliners. The bed is very warm and comfortable and the sound of the ocean lulls you to sleep. Before you decide to stay here, you need to understand that this isn't a 5 star chain hotel. It's a very cozy, quiet and comfortable room with a cabin feel and an amazing view. We've traveled the coast many times and have stayed in over $400 a night rooms, and this is still one of our favorites. The owners are very nice and accommodating and we look forward to seeing them again. Be sure to take the stairs to the beach if you're in decent shape. read more

This is an absolutely wonderful place to get away from it all. The rooms are well decorated, the beds are comfortable and the flannel sheets and Pendleton blankets make them all so cozy. The level of cleanliness is impressive and the kitchens are amply supplied with pots and pans. Needless to say, the views are superb and the two rooms that we were in had huge windows overlooking the surf. This is one place that we are looking forward to returning to! read more

I first visited Ocean Haven 35 years ago back when it was called Gull Haven. It's a casual, cozy, comfortable spot, clean & amusing, and not pretentious. I had a good bed and a great view, just 15 minutes down the highway from Yachats. Bring your own groceries & a bottle of nice wine and relax. I left my digital devices at home, didn't have cell reception, and totally enjoyed a brief digital cleanse. To get to the beach, you'll have to creep down steep stairs in the cliff--I could do that 35 years ago, but didn't trust my knees to do it now. But Neptune Beach--just 10 minutes north--provides stunning views and easier beach access for anyone uneasy about heights/aging joints. Christine is a very amiable host as well. read more

A rare coastal retreat! My wife and I stayed several days this last July. The building is rustic; the location stellar. Our stay on the Oregon coast at Ocean Haven was as good as it gets. We stayed in the "low-rider Tide Pool Room" which was comfortable, cozy and had a magnificent view of the full ocean out our "dining room" window. We even had a couple benches outside our door where we could bundle up in a blanket and watch the sunset, moon rise and restless waters of the surf. Accommodations were top of the line if you don't care about TV or having strong internet connectivity. Who needs them anyway? Ravens abound. The owner, Christy, couldn't be more hospitable, friendly or helpful. Staying at the Ocean Haven feels like a respite from the world but also makes a contribution to the well-being of our planet.
