I have been going to Ocean Eye for over 4 years since I moved to the Summerville/Charleston area. They have for the most part been very pleasant to work with. For the most part I did have a pretty positive experience but unfortunately I have had some not so great encounters with one staff member in the Summerville location which is why I started to make appointments for the North Charleston location (about 15-20 mins away) only. Since, I have yet to have a bad visit post switching to the North Charleston location on Dorchester Rd. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere echoes the vibe of the staff. They answer and address any and all of my questions/concerns that I may have , and by the time I leave I have the feeling that I have been very well taken care of. This is my honest opinion and I encourage anyone looking for an eye doctor that has a high spirited family feel environment to try them out for yourself. I can only say great things about Ocean Eye. They were very professional! They absolutely took the best care of me! I have to say they went above and beyond to help me. Megan went above and beyond to answer my questions. Keith was absolutely professional and he went above and beyond to help me find the right pair of glasses. He also answered every one of my questions. He was also very knowledgeable. I will say if you are looking for glasses I advise you to buy everything from them. From frames to lenses they have the best. The Frames and lenses are very well made. The exam was top notch! You always get what you pay for and I don't mind paying more for quality! In closing from the eye exam to picking out and buying frames I can only give the highest rating for ocean eye. I would recommend anyone to them. You wont regret anything from them! Had a nice overall experience with the people at Ocean Eye in North Charleston. I was given a reminder call two days prior to my visit which is always nice. The receptionist at the office was very personable and efficient. Good to talk to and she took care of business. I believe the young man that did the initial part of the tests was Ken and he was courteous and professional. The female doctor (sorry! Didn't get her name) was superb and completed the exam. She noted a past eye surgery and asked about it and entered it into my records. She also had me retrieve my current glasses from my car, entered their prescription into my records, and cleaned them. No pressure at all to purchase new glasses which I didn't need since my eyes hadn't changed at all. Really enjoyed the experience! read more

I recently visited Ocean Eye on Dorchester Road next to the Publix and was very pleased with my visit. I am a new patient to this practice. Dr. Flores and all of the staff were professional, yet friendly. I did not have a very long wait time so I felt they were efficient as well. The office was clean and bright and they have a huge selection of frames. I was fitted for glasses and contacts and I did not feel "rushed through", but instead felt like they genuinely wanted to get my prescription the best possible for me. I also appreciate the fact that they are open until 7 PM on certain nights. The only negative I can think of would be the price of glasses in general, but feel they are probably on average with most comparable businesses. read more

I recently moved to the Charleston area and was in need of an optometrist. Ocean Eye came up on Google as the closest location with a rating of 4.8 stars. I filled out my paperwork and was quickly brought in for a comprehensive eye exam. They are very thorough. I've been wearing glasses and contacts for 39 years. I know professionalism when I see it. The staff was friendly and polite as well as the doctor and eye glass technician. They accept most major insurances and have a good selections of frames as well. My comfort level was high and that's a good thing.They take good care of their patients from examination right up to receiving your new glasses or contacts. You won't be disappointed. Everyone at the Dorchester Office was AMAZING! I received exceptional service when scheduling my appointment and verifying my insurance to the actual annual eye exam and all the way through picking out my new frames! Leslie was amazing during my eye exam and was so sweet! She even offered me tea and lemonade while I waited. She explained everything she was doing so there were no surprises! Kevin was fabulous with helping me find the perfect frames. He took his time and helped me understand the differences in lences and what was best for my situation. I honestly just had the best optometry visit that I've had since I was a kid. I'm currently suffering from many pain inducing medical issues not related to my eyes and was dreading going in today. When I was asked how I was feeling today I was honest and let the staff know I was in a lot of pain so I likely wouldn't be able to sit still for any period of time without having to adjust myself. I was in and out quickly but they were still thorough and made sure to check my degenerative lattices and covered all the other important bases as well. This was my first time to Ocean Eye and It had been at least eight years since my last eye exam. I was having horrible headaches and blurred vision. I was brought in very promptly and had a wonderful experience with every individual I encountered. I was told I had Astigmatism in both eyes and needed glasses. I love this place, having been going for years! Dr. Spearing is awesome, she listens and gave me some really great advice on eye care and eye bag reduction. It worked Doc:). RECOMENDATION: My search for an amazing eye doctor is over! After roaming the malls and other chain based stores, I finally stumbled upon Ocean Eye Optometry (N.Chas - Dorchester Rd.). They were quick to respond for an appointment, super friendly and even gave me options for up and coming trial contacts (transitions, they are really neat!). Specifically, Ariana helped with my preliminary visit and Dr. Silecchia made my contact recommendations. Great customer service. Doctor was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Kevin helped me select a new pair of glasses and even took out the lenses from sunglasses so I could see what they'd look like with clear lenses (I ended up getting those!) Front desk was very helpful and supplied me with contact solution and cleaners. Everyone was so friendly and nice and accommodating. Good eyeware selections and offer discounts on certain brands. I had an exam on June 19th with Dr. Berkely at the Ocean Eye North Charleston office and had excellent care. He was kind and took his time examining my eyes. He answered all my questions and encouraged me to have a glaucoma exam due to my age. I found there were plenty of frames to choose from and bought a new pair of glasses as well as a prescription sunglass pair. OE - is 2 thumbs up!!! They are quick for appts, and keeping appt times. Once you arrive, your are greeted, checked in and quickly treated to their hospitality skills as they offer you a refreshing cold drink (my fav is the lemonade). I have mature eyes, and have been fitted for multifocals for my multipurpose needs. They are patient and good listeners as to 'fitting' your needs. I went to the North Charleston, SC location next to the Publix shopping center to get my eyes examined for prescription glasses. The staff was very efficient, professional and polite! With the help of all of the employees of Ocean Eye located at the Publix shopping center in North Charleston, SC I was able to get my eyes examined in a timely fashion and place an order for prescription glasses that would not only look decent good on my face but would also help me see correctly. My daughter and I went to her first eye appointment at Ocean Eye and the experience was fantastic! She was very nervous about the experience but everyone at Ocean Eye made her feel comfortable. My children have been coming to this practice for a year now and I've had the most pleasurable experiences with the staff and Dr at the Dorchester Rd location. My 6 year old is busy and always wants to help and they allow her to "help" while her brother is getting his exam with turning off/on the lights and watching the Dr closely and they're very attentive to her and kind. I previously went to another facility and wasn't happy at all with my glasses so i gave Ocean Eye a try and had a great experience. I was greeted with a warm welcome when i came through the door and everyone i encountered was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I didn't start getting eye exams until I was in my 30's and I still only need light readers. However, I appreciate the convenient, friendly, and efficient exams at Ocean Eye. They always explain all of the options, but they don't pressure me if I just want to keep my cheap readers. I have had problems with styes occasionally, but they have given me helpful tips and even referred me to another specialist when I had to deal with a particularly difficult stye. read more
