This was all set up by the lovely French Amile, and we appreciated her accommodating our schedule and hosting us at the spa. The spa itself is very clean, be sure to make time for the eucalyptus steam room as well as the sunny patio and relaxation room. Christina did my massage, and she was just wonderful. I received a spa gift card and redeemed it at Ocean Crest Spa, located within the Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach Resort. I scheduled my appointment for a much-needed deep tissue massage. The resort and the spa is beautiful! The staff is very friendly and professional. They provided me with a large, fluffy robe and sandals, and locker room to change and store my personal items. Robert was my massage therapist. I like that he was a runner like me so he understood the aches and pains associated with running and training. He was very professional, friendly, and really dug into my sore back. I felt amazing afterwards! I used the shower after my massage and it was glorious!! A perfect end to a self-care day! read more

The local discount they give the week is a nice option if you can go during the week. The pool you have access to is the main pool so if it is crowded it is difficult to find a chair. The hotel hosts a lot of travel ball, soccer tournaments so it can be very loud. As far as amenities, there is not much. There is a sauna, and 2 relaxation spaces. The services are a decent price but if you want to relax by the pool/spa be mindful what else might be going on. read more

I've been going to this spa with friends for years, and we keep coming back because there's no place in San Diego county as reasonably priced and pampering. And no matter which massage therapists we get, the massages are consistently 10 out of 10. We always stay for lunch (great restaurant as well!), and we love our time at the pool and in the jacuzzi afterwards. I had an aromatherapy massage with Meliza on Saturday and it was wonderful! She listened to what areas I wanted to focus on and used strong pressure to get all my knots out. The spa is beautiful and peaceful. They validate self parking, and allow you to use the pool and hot tub the day of your service. I had some difficulty getting ahold of the front desk as we kept playing phone tag and I never actually got through to someone the 3 or 4 times I called back, but they always called me back within a few hours. This is going to be a bit of a mixed review. My husband and I stayed at the hotel for a little honeymoon staycation the week after our wedding. We booked a couple massage. My husband had a lovely massage with a very nice therapist who communicated well with him, asked questions to ensure he was happy, and was overall very nice and great at her job. Unfortunately I had a very different experience. I am not sure of my massage therapists name, because she actually never even introduced herself. She just pointed to the bed and left. When she began massaging me she did ask if the temperature of the bed was okay, which I confirmed. When she began to massage she had an extremely light touch that was off putting and almost uncomfortable in a ticklish way. She did not initially ask me how I would prefer the pressure or anything, so I just asked if she could increase the pressure. She said yes, but then continued on the same. It was more like a light rub, that again, was uncomfortable and actually ticklish. She used hot stones at times which was nice but anytime she used her hands there was little to no pressure, more just light tickling with her finger tips. So I asked again to adjust the pressure. After the 3rd time, I realized it was not going to change. I was pretty uncomfortable throughout the massage and considered ending it halfway through, but felt bad to disturb my husbands experience, and also just did not want to be rude. Really sad to pay what we did for this experience. I hesitate to even say it was the worst massage of my life, because I don't think I have ever even had a bad one- I literally did not know that was possible. I honestly wonder if this woman was even a licensed therapist because she seemed so unsure of what she was doing. read more

Had a lovely spa experience at Ocean Crest on New Year's Eve. My husband and I had a couples massage and both really enjoyed the massages received. My therapist was Robert and my husband's was Jessica. Both therapists were attentive and listened to our concern areas and were very welcoming. We don't drink so they offered us juice and tea when offered the champagne which was very thoughtful. My massage was well balanced and somewhat of a sports massage I work at a long hours desk job and my forearms are always very very tight he did a great job easing that out without being painful. The neck and shoulder focus was just right and plenty of time was given to legs and arms. The hand massages was very relaxing and while the foot massages was more of an acupressure situation than a rub I enjoyed the tension release gained and consider it a style of the therapist as no two massages are ever the same. I would get a massage here again and request the same therapists. My husband said Jessica really focused on tight areas in his shoulders and says it's easily in the top 1 or 2 massages he's had. We were at a high-end spa in San Pellegrino Termé, Italy, in October and the massages were great but this rivaled that and are pleasantly surprised. The steam room is small but plenty for the facility size we enjoyed it both before and after the massages. The amenities are a nice touch; i.e. shower supplies in the showers and blow dryers available for the ladies, we were staying in the hotel attached so we did not use them entirely, just a quick rinse post steam room. There were a number of ladies taking advantage of the offerings and one in particular, a local, told me she frequents this spa for facials so perhaps we will try that next time! The relaxation room is a tad lacking. The tea offerings are lovely and there was some fruit but it was whole pieces so really doesn't lend to eating well in a robe or quickly while waiting to go in for an appointment. If you'd like a small snack I'd just do the flatbread at the hotel restaurant before or after instead. Overall a nice experience. read more

My 5-star rating is definitely for my massage with Wendy, as well as the staff at this spa. I was staying at the hotel so it made sense to book here and I was not disappointed in the service. Wendy was a pleasure to chat with and my time just flew by. The staff at the front desk were extremely courteous. The things that were a bit of a disappointment to me were the facilities - the spa itself is understated, clean, and comfortable. However, with only a steam room and two sitting areas, there wasn't much to offer guests. I know the hotel pool and hot tub were available to use, but as a guest already staying there, I watched kids (spring break!) going in and out of the hot tub all day and I wouldn't consider it very relaxing to sit in that. That said, the services were reasonably priced and definitely felt indulgent. read more

We had a wonderful experience at the spa. I was looking for something a hotel so it had a lot of amenities, but a little more low key than some of the other places in the area. Everything was great. We got a package that included lunch and two spa treatments. The receptionist was friendly. The massage and facial were both excellent. When the young man who did my facial learned it was our birthdays he brought us each a glass of champagne. The lunch voucher was more than we could spend. We brought home boxes. It was delicious and lovely just to be there. I'd gotten some spa finder gift vouchers from Costco and I had no trouble using them there. I've read some spa will only allow one or two but it was not an issue here. I was worried because they were sold as $100 but the are given as 2 $50 vouchers. And parking is free! So I booked an appointment for my mother in law and I. We have never had a massage or a wrap or anything like that. So we were super excited and so happy to be able to have my husband watch my four babies for the day, so we could go do this together. We each were supposed to get a body wrap, body massage, foot massage, with champagne. When we first got there, it was relaxing and quiet. The woman I got did not introduce herself, so I don't know her name, but she was the heavy set one out of them all. She had amazing hands, they felt like waves. But she did not give me a foot massage. That was basically the main reason why I even booked them in the first place. So I was completely disappointed she forgot to do my feet. My mother in law had a wonderful girl who even helped her get through her asma attack that she had in the middle of her service. So I really appreciated that girl for helping my mom with that. We were not offered champagne, which was very disappointing as well. The advertisement for the body wraps sounded way more amazing than the actual service itself. It was a good scrub mixed with oil, then wrapped basically in a blanket. The advertisement used all these exotic words to make it seem like we were going to have this beautiful "once in a lifetime" experience. (I guess that is my fault for not having anything to compare it to, so I guess I was just expecting a lot more than just wrapped in a blanket with a scrub on me). I paid almost 600 for the entire thing. And it was definitely not a 600 dollar experience. When we went to the front to pay, I told the manager my girl forgot to do my foot massage, and of course she just said "oh I'm so surprised you guys are not noodles after a service like that, she is one of the best employees we have. It's not like her to forget. She is actually employee of the month". Which I guess is cool to know, but anyone can talk up their employees. The true testament was the actual service and it was just an okay experience. I'm shocked the manager did not offer to give me a discount because I did not receive all of the service that was advertised. All in all, I would say it was a 100 dollar service. I am happy my mother in law had a good girl. So I guess I'm happy I paid for it for her. Definitely going to shop elsewhere for those services though. read more

In July I received the Ocean Bliss package, which consists of a 50 Min Swedish massage and a 50 min Sea Of Life Soothing Facial and a lunch voucher to their poolside cafe. When checking in I was prompted to fill out a paper and was able to sit in the waiting area and browse their retail. I was then given a detailed tour of the spa which included a women's locker area, stocked showers and private bathrooms, getting ready vanity spaces, a steam room along with indoor and outdoor lounge areas. The fitness center was located just opposite of the spa front door and the pool was a just a short walk down the hall. The pool cafe unfortunately opened an hour late but i was still able to get a great Gem Lettuce Caesar and Peach pie! The pool was over looking the waves and also had a hot tub. Before my treatments I was able to utilize the steam room and there were complimentary chilled towels available. My massage was done by Kimberly who was very sweet and had gentle pressure. She really worked out some tension from lot of air travel. My facial was done by Michael, who seemed a in a bit of a rush when picking me up for treatment. Overall the facial was calming and he wrote down some product recommendations. In all I left the spa glowing and feeling relaxed and spend just about $375 for my treatments, lunch and gratuity for all those who helped me. read more

They were so gracious, warm, and amazing for trouble shooting a tight situation with a cancellation and made every accommodation to keep our three massage appointments and all my needs were met INCLUDING being there to tend to my 5 month old grandchild! ....well above the line of duty.!!!! I was lucky to get a "Desert Bloom scrub& massage appointment for my friend and I two weeks out. I was helped Jeanette who was so sweet. My friend and I got to our appointment which was on the first floor or the hotel right of the elevator. We were greeted by Jeanette and Sylvia who are both so welcoming and soft spoken. Jeanette gave us a tour and instructions on how to get to through the relaxation area. We got to the waiting area and one by one we were called promptly. I had the pleasure of having Jessica as my therapist and she made sure I was comfortable and checked on me if the pressure is okay.I mistakenly thought I was done after rinsing off my scrubs but Jessica took me back to the room and nicely informed me I'm not yet done( my friend also did the same. I had stayed at Cape Rey Resort back in Oct 2023 while attending a conference. So when I planned a staff retreat decided to return. 13 of us had spa treatments including facials, hot stone, deep tissue, and body scrub and massages. Every one of us were extremely satisfied. Jeannette the Spa Director and Sylvie were so incredibly helpful in arranging treatments for our group. Personally I want to give a HUGE shout out to Antonio for giving me one of the best messages I've ever had (and I've been getting body work for more than 30 years). He applied the perfect amount of pressure and worked my muscles and lower back so when I was done I felt as if I was levitating off the table. Went to Ocean Crest Spa for a staycation with my sister-in-law this weekend and was impressed. The service and the amenities were great. We got the $165 package with a 50 minute massage, all day access, free valet and $40 towards their restaurant on site. I would visit again for the massage alone as it was one of the best I have had in San Diego. However, I had to take 1 star away for the awkward sound during the second half on my massage. It sounded as if I was next to the wash room with an uneven dryer. I tried to ignore it but it was impossible. The pool is nice...heated, jacuzzi was warm but the view is what sold us. I tagged along on my husband's business trip and we stayed in the Cape Rey Hilton Resort and I was so happy to see that a spa was located right inside the hotel. What a wonderful place to relax!! The minute you walk into the spa, they are so nice, attentive, and helpful. I booked a facial that day and checked into the spa an hour early to enjoy the steam room, relaxation room, and patio. The changing rooms are nice and you are provided with a nice robe and slippers to use during your stay. You are given a locker for all your belongings and set your own code to lock and unlock it. The steam room is fantastic. Very large and they spray the walls with aromatherapy fragrances that give it a true spa feel. You can also purchase them at the front for your own home shower experience! After using the steam room, you can shower before your treatments. The showers are equipped with shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. After showering, you move to a small quiet room to relax, drink some water and eat some fruit provided for you. I decided to sit on the patio and listen to the waterfall feature they have outside. When it was time for my facial, she came and got me and did a wonderful job. My skin felt so soft and she was informative about all the products she used on my face. **Tip** You can pay $25.00 just to use the facility and not have to have a service done! read more

This is a great spot in north county! There are plenty of places to get a massage in this area, but Ocean Crest stands out because of the spa experience you get and the access to the hotel pool and jacuzzi. Most spas in north county are more salon style and feel like you're in and out just for your appointment and do not have a jacuzzi. This is a place where you can spend a couple of hours relaxing before or after your treatment. That being said, if you want to enjoy the hotel pool, jacuzzi, or restaurant, those areas are open to all guests so it may not be the most serene of settings. Shout out to the spa staff!
