So my 25 year old garage door opener finally decided to retire (at such a young age too). I didn't know that until I called out Ocean Coast, who not only showed up same day but within an hour or so. I initially they thought it was just that white plastic coupler part that AI tells me is probably the cause. But it's not, Liftmaster 2001 has decided to start taking social security. So Irving went through the options... which I am sort of familiar with because I've priced garage door replacements about 3 years ago and new openers run between $700 to $1200. They had 3 options and inner Mr. Frugal tells me to just go with the cheapest chain drive option. But after Irving gives me more details on each one I splurged and went for the top Liftmaster one (not $1200 because that's the fancy side drive opener). I know I should have probably got more quotes but Irving said he could install it immediately, could do it under 2 hours... and I didn't feel like going through more Yelp/NextDoor surfing. Less than 2 hours later, everything's installed, he even did some light maintenance on the door hinges, walked me through the specifics and helped me set up the app. It has a camera, LED lights, backup battery and I think an air fryer and ice cream maker. Belt drive is so quiet, with my old screw drive opener, my whole street knew when our garage opened, but now if I didn't have the app notifications on, I wouldn't know. We did have issues the next day and Irving was unavailable (he did try to help via text) so Daniela sent Henry out and he fixed it within 15 minutes. Now that's some great service!! When I got home recently one evening, my garage made a loud noise and stopped. I was able to manually open/close so was able to get in. I contacted Ocean Coast as I've used them before and expected a response the next day but they replied within minutes and said they would get someone to come out the next day. Daniela is so responsive and great with communicating, I didn't feel worried about getting service. Irving came out and it only took him a minute to figure out something broke (forgot the name of the part). He removed it and showed me and said he had the part so he could replace it for $250 but also told me I could upgrade my unit for $715. He wasn't pushy at all and at first I thought just to replace the part but asked about the benefits for both options. He was great to explain that if I replaced the part, it would last a really long time. He also explained that with the newer unit, I could open/close through an app from anywhere, it would notify if the garage opened/closed, there's a backup in case of power outage so the garage would still work, I could also give access to Amazon to open to put packages inside and access to friends. In the end, I decided to go with a new unit because I liked the newer features available. And he was able to install it fairly quickly (i can't remember if it was 1 or 2 hours) and walk me through the app to make sure I was all set. Irving was great, very knowledgeable and respectful. Woman-owned and local! I heard a loud crash late afternoon from our garage. Turns out our new build 2018 home had a Wayne Dalton system with springs on the sides, which had a spring that broke. We couldn't open or close the garage door, and if we could it closed/opened sporadically, and very slowly. Creative, efficient, knowledgeable, and affordable. I had a flat unpaneled garage door from 1989 that was struggling to open and close. I wanted to switch to a modern paneled garage door but the main problem was that it would not fit because of a high wooden cabinet in my garage that blocked the rollers (see pictures). This company is spectacular! When I called, they even offered service that night if I needed it. I scheduled it for the next morning, they confirmed the technician they would be sending and the time frame. The technician, Irving, texted me 30 minutes prior to arrival. I needed service because one of my garage doors was bouncing back up right when it was reaching the sensors. We had tried everything and thought we might need new sensors. When Irving got there, I showed him what the garage door was doing. He asked me to do it one more time. He then went and got a cloth out of his van. He then explained that our sensors were close in to the garage door and showed me there was a cobweb with a couple of leaves hanging from it at the bottom of that door. He said the sensors were detecting those small leaves!!!! He cleaned them off and - OMG the garage door worked LOL LOL!!!!! The first thing I have to say is any other garage door company could (and probably WOULD) have told me I needed new sensors and we would have believed it. But Irving was 100% honest and has so much integrity - I will never use another garage door company ever again (I have never really liked the ones I have used before). I had also asked the company to service both garage doors as needed after the 'sensor' issue was fixed, and he did an amazing job of that at an incredible price.
