The SBY airport has WAY too many people working at TSA. They close it and make passengers wait…read moreuntil an hour before they depart to check in while playing on their phones, chit chatting about their personal lives and paystubs. The only reason I'm giving this airport anything above 1 star is this amazing guy who seems to work all positions. I wasn't able to hear his name, but he was changing boarding passes, de-icing planes, driving equipment-absolutely incredible! I would also recommend that the employees update the passengers frequently instead of letting us guess what is happening with our flight. Absolutely lazy behavior, except for "do-it-all" man.

The American Airlines agents act like they hate their job. They have 2 gates.... The TSA agents were so nice and actually make this airport nice. The only food/drink option here are the vending machines and a deli when it's opened.

Tucked away at the southern tip of the Jersey shore, this airport is a breeze to get in and out of,…read moremostly due to the fact that it's uncontrolled with very limited scheduled air carrier service. I enjoyed the views on the way here for a quick turn before heading back up towards Atlantic City and NYC. On a clear day, you can almost see the Delaware shoreline on the other side of the Delaware Bay.

Nice approaches, they have a grill, pilot shop, and pilot lounge. The FBO is fine with no great thrills. They have lineman, long runways and it is outside of the airspace to have to deal with Washington DC restrictions. They are friendly and helpful in the terminal. Easton has much mire selection these days for restaurants and seafood places around Oxford. I think this airport is better than Bay Bridge or Cambridge

The airport is also located 8 nmi (15 km) west of Naval Air Station Patuxent River. It is owned and operated by the St. Mary's County Board of County Commissioners. St. Mary's County Regional Airport has been in operation since 1969. The airport was re-dedicated as the Captain Walter Francis Duke Regional Airport in 2000. It recently reverted to its original name. St. Mary's County Regional Airport covers an area of 200 acres (81 ha) which contains one asphalt paved runway (11/29) measuring 4,150 x 75 ft (1,265 x 23 m). For the 12-month period ending April 6, 2006, the airport had 52,618 aircraft operations, an average of 144 per day: 95% general aviation, 5% air taxi and less than 1% military. There are 100 aircraft based at this airport: 86% single engine, 8% multi-engine, 3% helicopters, 2% ultralight and 1% gliders. The airport houses small aircraft such as Pipers, gliders, and Cessnas (152's, 172's, etc.). The Maryland State Police house one of their helicopters, Trooper 7, at the airport. Trooper 7 flies medevacs all over the area including to as far north as Montgomery county and even in to northern Virginia. There is also a small flying club where people can learn to fly and rent planes to fly over the Chesapeake Bay. The St. Mary's Composite Squadron (MER-MD-089) of the Civil Air Patrol [meets at the terminal building and bases their aircraft there, as well. CAP's primary missions in the community include aerial and ground search and rescue. The local squadron is about 100 members strong, including senior members and cadets. The St. Mary's County Chamber of Commerce has its offices in the terminal building of the airport. The EAA also meets there.

Parking is $12 for 24 hours, so it was $24 to park a plane here for the weekend (not bad at all). If you come in afterhours (I think they are open till 6pm on Friday, but we didn't get in until 8:30), you can simply tie your plane down and park it in any of the open spots that don't have cones on them (the cones denote that a local pilot keeps their plane there) and come pay the parking fee when you depart in the next few days. There is a diner on site which is decent for breakfast and lunch. The runway is 2900ft, on the shorter side, but plenty of room to get in with most GA airplanes. Right pattern for runway 24 and left pattern for 6, basically they want you not on the side of the boardwalk when arriving (lots of towplanes, etc). All in all, it's a great little field to fly into. If you're not a pilot, they offer biplane rides, tours, etc out of the airport.
