I miss the old staff. The new pharmacist is cold & matter of fact. They do not go above and beyond making the customer feel valued. This pharmacy no longer has that happy small town feel. Disappointing considering I would only come to this pharmacy unless there was a late night emergency... for over 15 years. Time to move on. read more

An update of my review in 2014. After almost 40 years employed by Ocean Chemists through 3 owners, manager Linda Ohlsen has been told by management she is no longer needed. The entire staff has given notice and yesterday (April 28) was their last day. I for one will be leaving in the next week. Having been a customer there since the late 70's it is not an easy decision. However current management places no value on long term relationships. If I have to start with all new personal I will do it elsewhere. I urge all long-time customers to show your support for the staff who have left and shop elsewhere. read more

Recommended for: Prescription drugs, medicines, pharmacist opinion. Knowledge 7, Service 6, Selection 6. I am not a big fan of going and getting your "script" filled at DR, CVS or Wallgreens. While there are pharmacists, it is fairly generic service and not really attention to you, your history or what is going on in your life. This review is spurred on do to the fact I've been "eck" for nearly a week! Growing up in LI, Ocean Chemist was the place since coming back to the US was where I had all medicine filled. When I was in college, got them filled here. When I traveled, got them filled here. Why? George! George is the owner and pharmacist of Ocean Chemists. He has known me pretty much my whole life, and knows my history, my family etc. Not only does he take the time to know whats going on with the everyday life, but, can make recommendations on what to take whether its prescription or over-the-counter. He recalls things about my medical history that I clearly forgot, and knows side-effects that while minuscule in percentage of patients, given my track record, I may be more susceptible to. The staff here is very nice, and they have a large assortment of medical things. While not a CVS in terms of size, they always have what I am looking for, at good prices. So go on and support your local pharmacist! While I may be living in the city, I have no problem trekking out to LI to make sure I get the best service! did not want to do this but Ocean Chemist you gave us no choice a loyal customer for over 28 years defending you against other neighborhood pharmacies and always recommending you. today 09-08-20 your driver made a delivery to my home on his way out of our driveway he ran over our garbage bags and pulled them into the middle of waukena ave. My wife called the store and asked the clerk to have him come back to put back on the curb she was told ok after a half hour she called back reminded the clerk who HUNG UP ON HER!!!!! we called back spoke to the pharmacist or mgr and was told he went home there was nothing she could do i asked why they hung up on us there was no reason i asked her to have him come back as i am disabled and un able to go into the street to pick it up she said he went home and its too bad then hung up on us i called back several times now they won't answer the phone and the machine says open 9 to 7 it's was 5PM why would a store owner be so nasty to a long time no less any customer????????? when people ask why stores are closing in oceanside well here's the number one reason POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE SORRY NO CUSTOMER SERVICE BETTER OFF AT ANY OTHER PHARMACY THEIR SERVICE HAS TOTALLY GONE DOWN THE TUBES AND TO THINK I LEAVE THE DRIVER A TIP ON ALL DELIVERIES FOOL ME ONCE YOUR OUT OF HERE read more

What's not to like? Delivers in town, fast and friendly service and a local business. I guess the hours (they close at 7) is a bit earlier than CVS, but beats the line and the hassle of CVS anytime. read more

This is the best pharmacies I've ever dealt with. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable. I like going to small pharmacies where they know your name and they're always glad you came. =) When I bring in a prescriptions from my doctor not only do they fill prescriptions within 5 to 10 minutes, the pharmacy staff is a pure delight. They always remember you, what medications you're taking, if they've spoken to your doctor, etc. They are very accommodating and helpful whether it's about medications over the counter or cosmetic products or just listing to any crazy stories I have, they're always willing to listen.
