So I knew that I was most likely in some trouble but I had no idea that it was going to be so much work. Fortunately the team here is so kind that I actually did not dread the process. There was some obvious pain after each cavity and root canal but Grace would check in on me every time to make sure I was fine afterward. This made it very easy to go about my days after knowing that what I was going through was expected and that if the pain got worst I could always reach out to make sure we could fix any issues. I did not need to because the doctor is a real professional at what he does, but it was nice knowing that I could if I needed to. If I'm being completely honest, the best part is that the team here is truly kind and caring and that's hard to find these days.

From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted by Grace with a genuine smile and welcoming tone. I was the only one in the waiting room, which was clean and inviting, with snacks, coffee, water, and juice available. It smelled so fresh and well-kept. I was called in exactly at my appointment time. The hygienist took my X-rays and completed the cleaning all in the same room. She was very gentle and thorough--scraping each tooth, flossing, and polishing with care. The dentist arrived afterward, reviewed my X-rays, and performed a detailed examination. He had such a friendly and upbeat demeanor that immediately put me at ease. I highly and wholeheartedly recommend this dental office without reservation.

I'm sharing this because I genuinely felt uncomfortable and unheard during my visit. My appointment…read morewas scheduled for 9:00 AM and was set 2-3 weeks in advance when I had my tooth repaired and my crown fitted, so I could take care of both the crown placement and deep cleaning in one visit. I also paid my copayment ahead of time, so scheduling issues should not have been on me as the patient. Before starting, the hygienist, JESS, mentioned she was fully booked and even complained that I wasn't on her schedule. Despite this, my appointment didn't begin until 9:24 AM, and she said she had another patient at 9:30. From that point on, the entire visit felt rushed, which immediately made me anxious. She applied numbing gel but started the deep cleaning right away without allowing time for it to take effect. The tooth without a crown was extremely sensitive, especially from the suction air, and soon my entire mouth felt painful. I tried to push through it, but the discomfort became overwhelming, and I had to ask her to stop. I don't like complaining or being seen as a difficult patient, but when you're in the dental chair, you're vulnerable and trusting the provider to be patient, gentle, and considerate. This experience left me feeling stressed and disappointed, and I believe patient comfort, communication, and accountability should always come before rushing to stay on schedule.

I had gone in for an emergency appointment, I told the doctor/nurses how I was feeling about it everything and they were all very accommodating and compassionate. Once I got in the room, everything went so fast, they definitely didn't give me a chance to think about what was going to be happening and before I knew it I was fast asleep. The procedure went by so quick! I did feel a little out of it after but there was absolutely no pain or discomfort. I will be doing a follow up in 2 weeks to ensure my recovery is going well and the wounds are healing properly. I definitely will be going back here to look into getting braces since the wisdom teeth ended up causing a lot of overcrowding in mine. Thank you to Dr. Choyee and everyone here!

Highly recommend Dr. Choyee for your oral surgery needs!…read more My wisdom teeth had been causing pain for a few weeks, so I was looking to get them extracted as soon as possible. I had a consultation with a different dentist, but I felt a a bit uneasy about the treatment plan they suggested, so I wanted to get a second opinion from an oral surgeon. I came across Dr. Choyee's practice while searching for oral surgeons that accepted Delta Dental PPO and found positive reviews. Upon calling his office, I was grateful that they had availability later that week for a consultation & same day extraction. Even starting from the phone call, I already felt more at ease. The receptionists were all very knowledgeable and helped explain how my insurance would be applied and other things to expect. The day of the extraction, I was at the office for an hour in total (consultation + extraction). After taking a quick panoramic x-ray, I decided to go with local anesthesia and only felt mild pressure during the procedure. No stitches were needed and I was sent home with gauze & instructions to pickup a mouthwash from my local pharmacy. Overall, Dr. Choyee and his staff were kind, thorough, and made the process a lot less painless than anticipated.

But in this case, I feel it's important to share. I came to this office years ago after moving to Cerritos, right before my wedding, simply looking for a new dentist and a routine cleaning. They had great reviews, which is why I trusted them. From the start, I was told I had extensive issues--multiple cavities needed to be redone and several crowns were recommended. This was surprising to me, as I've consistently gone to the dentist and had never been told I needed such drastic work. Still, I trusted their assessment. The procedures that followed were some of the most painful dental experiences I've ever had. They took hours, felt extremely aggressive, and left me in severe pain afterward--far beyond what I've ever experienced with dental work. I have a high pain tolerance, and this felt very wrong. What was most frustrating was what happened next. I returned multiple times explaining that I couldn't sleep, eat, or function due to the pain. Each time, my concerns were dismissed and attributed to things like not flossing (umm I couldn't floss because of the extreme pain), which didn't make sense given the level of pain I was in. After pushing back repeatedly--especially with my wedding just days away--I insisted something was seriously wrong and requested further evaluation. It turned out I needed three root canals as a result of their prior work. Separately, the crowns that were placed caused ongoing issues. Eating anything with texture would cause gum pain, and I noticed unusual gaps that trapped food. When I brought this up, I was told the only solution was to redo the crowns at additional cost. My crowns also came off. Later, I happened to see a different dentist at the same office (a female provider who may have been temporary), and she immediately noted that the crowns had been placed at an awkward angle. She corrected them, and since then, I've had no pain and no further issues such as crowns falling off. I ultimately switched dentists and have not needed any major dental work since--just routine cleanings every six months, with no recurring problems. Based on what I went through--particularly the aggressive treatment, the outcome, and the dismissal of my concerns--I feel it's important for others to have full context before making a decision.
