Visited OC Wasabi again during my vacay in Ocean City. And as always... the food was wonderful! I highly recommend making a reservation especially during the summer as they are always very busy especially if you are a larger group. We had made a reservation and our table was ready for us when we arrived. Since we have been here before, we were very familiar with the menu and knew what we wanted. We started with edamame and the teriyaki squid. I had ordered the chicken teriyaki meal and it came with a choice of house salad or miso soup. I chose the salad. This place was exactly what I needed in ocean city when it comes to sushi! I'm a spice girl and for apps, we got edamame, spicy mussels and spicy shrimp. The shrimp was butterfly cut and topped with crap and a spicy sauce and was so delicious. The Maryland crab fried rice is a MUST HAVE. We were looking for a light bite to eat walking distance from our hotel. We were seated quickly. Really nice big menu with a ton of sushi options plus other options including tempura. This place was editor's pick but didn't have the best customer reviews - so we gave it a try. This place is small, not the cleanest especially for a sushi restaurant. Our waters were empty, and the servers didn't check on us. It feels more like an Irish pub that is decorated in Japanese decor and serves sushi. I may be a bit bias when it comes to sushi. As someone who has lived in Japan and eaten at many Japanese restaurants with world renowned sushi chefs in big cities, this place was not so great. If you haven't experienced real sushi, this place might be okay since you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The sushi rice was a little overcooked so mushy and lacked sushi rice flavor, the fish did not look the most fresh. There was not much flavor to signature rolls either. The wasabi that was used is not flavorful at all, it tasted like a cheaper version which doesn't have the strong horseradish taste. The pickled ginger also tasted like it was sitting out a bit. So excited to have found this gem so close to our hotel. The interior is cute and cozy, with special tables where your feet are under the floor. We stopped by as a group of four with no reservations and they quickly made room for us at a table despite being full and busy. There is a sushi bar available as well for smaller parties. My table ordered tempura, sushi and chicken katsu and everything was super fresh and cooked perfectly. Even the miso soup was delicious, and that's usually literally the throwaway of my Japanese takeout. There was a large party that came in and they were a little pushy, she reminded them that, they were not her only table. OC Wasabi is a great find in Ocean City. I thought they had creative offerings, fast service, and just what we needed on our trip. I'd like to come here annually now as a nice break from all of the other heavy food. We parked in the back, walked in and had to find our way to the front of the coastal highway to find the desk. Our food wasn't ready yet, but as soon as it was, they brought it to us and we were back home in no time. My father-in-law loved the local names of some of these rolls. The wife previously worked in the restaurant industry so she asked if they were still open when we arrived at or around 9 pm not wanting to throw a late order in if the kitchen was closing. I decided to return on Friday for my dinner and I had veggie fried rice with tofu! 'Suggestion to the chef if a patron asks for tofu put more than six tiny tofu pieces in the rice for $5 extra' Highway robbery. Tofu is part of my weekly menu which I buy from the store for less than $3. Nevertheless Restaurants need to do better! Tofu is not that expensive to be charging $5 extra upon request is the reason I gave three stars. They have an outside seating area where you can watch the sunset. Was eager to try the sushi here... was not impressed and just wasted $50. I will start by saying I ordered this as a take-out dish (I am 10 minutes from the restaurant), however, the quality should not go down so drastically with it being served out of restaurant. The only nice part of the meal was the miso soup and seaweed salad and they tasted very basic. The spicy tuna roll did not taste fresh at all. The tuna honestly looked a tad gray. The spider roll was also a bust. Besides the two large pieces of crab, the other pieces hardly had ANY actual crab in them. The cucumber was limp and there was absolutely no flavor. In total, I ate three pieces before deciding to throw the rest in the trash-- due to my concerns about freshness and just the taste in general. I am a huge sushi person, in fact, it is my favorite food, and this is the first time I have ever found myself not wanting to finish a roll. We also had the seafood teriyaki skewers for an appetizer and it was a lot of food and delish! Best sushi in OC! All their positive reviews are well-deserved. My Fiance's parents bought a condo in OC back in the spring and have quickly become regulars at OC Wasabi (they have a waitress there that always recognizes them!). Fiance and I have heard them rave about it so much that when we were down at the beach we made sure we took a trip there. It's definitely a crowded place (especially on Labor Day weekend when we were there). They do take reservations, which is nice and definitely cuts down wait times. We were seated right away and served promptly. We ordered a spread of rolls and sashimi. When you look at my pic below it seems like a lot of food, but between four of us there was nothing left! We enjoy ordering from OC Wasabi every summer when we visit, and I have already left a review which all still remains true - love their fried rice and tempura!! Sushi tasted good and fresh, though they fell apart too easily. Chicken katsu was a hit with the kids. Orders were all correct and ready on time. It's a shame that the business feels the need to promote political candidates though. This was our first time seeing signage in the restaurant and it was a huge disappointment. The best sushi place in OC! We order carry out here all the time because the quality is always Great. If you eat in the restaurant try to get a reservation because it's a popular place. The Big Germ roll with banana on top and lemon roll are delicious. The sesame encrusted tuna cooked medium rare is Brady's go to as well as the teriyaki filet mignon. Food was great. Service horrible. When we walked into the restaurant at 8pm for our reservation we were told to wait in a certain place, which we had no problem with. About 5 seconds later a lady walked by us and instead of saying excuse me, she said, "you guys need to move away you are blocking the walkway to the walkway to the bar" I'm certain there is a nicer way to say that. We decided to look past that. When we got sat that same lady was our waiter. I don't know if it was because we are a younger group but she was extremely rude. She interrupted us when taking our orders, and was flat out disrespectful. It took over an hour and a half for us to receive our sushi so we asked when she thought our food would arrive and she responded with, "I don't know all the tickets are on the floor you guys can go back and look for yourself." The spicy tuna and futo maki rolls were very good. The tuna wasn't a mashed-up babyfood-like experience. There was an actual piece of tuna in the roll, and the flavor was very nice. I am not normally a fan of eel, but the futo maki toll from OC Wasabi added to the omlette that I love and created a roll that had just enough sweetness. A little soy sauce made it perfect. It would be great if they would add a roll that was just omlette with some diced vegetables, but I would definitely order from this restaurant in any case. read more

For a cool day like yesterday, I believe that the temperature was set to a perfect amount that wasn't too hot and wasn't too cold. We walked to our seats and we had some good lighting that wasn't impulsing, but was just right for the culture of that place. I went yesterday with my family and we ordered almost the perfect amount of food. Here's some of the things we ordered: Spider Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, California Roll, Crunchy Roll, Dynamite Roll, and this thing called the Sampler, which I absolutely loved. The food was almost perfect, but you got to be light with the soy sauce because I think it's a little too salty. When we left I feel that we ate almost the perfect amount of food because I wasn't stuffed, but was also satisfied with the amount of food I ate. I believe that this was genuinely one of the best experiences I had. I actually felt comfortable in that place due to the staff being so welcoming and respectful. This experience was disappointing. The gentleman at the bar was very nice, the young woman at the hostess stand was kind as well, but who I assume is the manager was quite grumpy. Upon entering, she stepped in front of the hostess stand and simply looked at us rudely. Food was alright, tables were sticky, ambiance was very noisy as cars in this area tend to accelerate aggressively, letting their exhaust drown out any and all conversations at the table. All the servers were kind and attentive, and the place looks appealing. Also, manager seemed rattled when we said we had no reservation (we're from out of town). She made a huge deal about how we'll only be able to sit outside unless we wait until 6:30pm. Seated at 5:41pm, almost 7pm and one single family went in just to also be seated outside...the many open tables inside is perplexing.
