Not a good experience. OC Marine has done several installations and warranty work on our 2020 62' Beneteau Oceanis Yacht since 2021 (install 2 TVs, upgrade sound system, warranty work from builder) OC Marine has poor responsiveness. I looked back at my records and each of the jobs had a "sorry for the delay in getting back to you", "I apologizing for the late response" emails. Then more recently (Nov 2024) OC Marine quoted 32 hours to install Starlink (labor only). 4 full days seemed like "estimate padding", so I tried the job myself for the sole reason to see how long it would really take... 3.5 hours. (I dont normally do boat projects). I gave OC Marine another try on a different project. Dec 11, 2024 we had a 3:00pm meeting at the boat to go over the new items (after waiting a week to get the appt). I arrived at 2:45pm. At 3:10 I called his office to see where he is. They said he'd be there in 5 min. At 3:30 I locked up the boat and left. Brenton arrived while I was walking up the dock. I said sorry I'm leaving. He said, "I thought we were meeting at 3pm", he looked at his watch and said "it's only 3:28pm." Brenton does good work, but is not responsive nor timely. I've owned boats for 30 years, but I'm fairly new to CA and OC Marine was the first and only marine electronics vendor I have used here. Unfortunately I will have to look for a new marine electronics installer. read more

I first met Brenton in late 2015 when he gave me a quote for new electronics installation in my 2001 Sea Ray Sundancer 340. He met me at my boat in Newport Beach, he was on time and took the time to give me an explanation of the work that needed to be done. His quote was very reasonable for the amount of work involved. He appeared knowledgeable and ethical and was very familiar with Sea Rays. He gave me advice on some of the electronics, which were a better fit for my boat and my needs and tried to save me money. I felt comfortable with him and I hired him for the job. He completed the job within the time estimate and within budget. There were some minor issues with the depth sounder installation, I called Brenton and he was very responsive and took care of the issue in a timely manner. Since then I have hired Brenton and his team for repairs and overall maintenance and he has done a great job. I found OC Marine Installations on Yelp. He has a 100% 5 star rating which I found impressive since most of the time people take the time to write their negative experiences not the positive ones. OC Marine Installations is currently in the process of working on multi-phase job on my boat. They just completed installing my Garmin 741XS, Garmin 200 VHF, Garmin AIS 600, NEMA 2000 backbone, Fusion 205 with Blue Tooth functions, Alpine Amp and rerouted wiring done incorrectly by another vendor. Brenton and Bill were great. The job took several days to complete due the complexity of the work and the amount of wiring that needed to be routed though the salon and cockpit. They worked hard to ensure that the work was done to my liking. They continually asked for my input and gave great advice on equipment location and function. Brenton even answered a couple of frantic text messages on a Sunday when I couldn't get something operating properly due to my error. These guys were professional, honest, hardworking, reliable and charged a more than fare rate. During the second phase, OC Marine Installations will be installing my Garmin Raydome, spotlight, LED Lights, VHF antenna, Garmin Satellite antenna, TV antenna and reroute my navigation lights all on my radar arch. I am fully confident they will do the same professional work; mounting the equipment, routing the wires through the radar arch to the specific equipment and power source as they did in the first phase. I am normally one of those boat owners that would try to put in my own electronics, but after 5 minutes with talking to Brenton I realized I would be a fool to try. He knew what other components (vhs, autopilot, sounder, etc) would be compatible with the replacement display and ended up saving me a lot of money and headache. Also the size of the new screen was different than the previous display and he fitted it with a bezel that looks like it was put in by the boat manufacturer. I was referred to this company by someone that I did not know super well. So I have to admit I was skeptical at first. They came to my boat to install solar panels because I am out on a mooring in Newport Beach and I want to be able to rely on my batteries when I board my boat. I always get three estimates and they were actually the cheapest. I don't normally go with the cheapest I typically pick in the middle. However, the owner came across as a very knowledgeable and honest man. And sure enough they did what they said they would do and got it done one they said it would be done and they did not add a bunch of money to the estimate they kept their word and only charge me what the bid stated. We have a cabo 40 express. We wanted to redo the audio and visual components of the boat since they were outdated. Brenton and his team did a great job. Not only can we watch sat tv, Apple TV, or blue ray in the cabin but I have sat tv going to my chartplotters too which is great when you are on watch. He also linked the tv to the chartplotter so folks in bed know where we are. I purchased a used Tiara 3600 Open and wanted to make some upgrades. I hired OC Marine to install a RayMarine Dragonfly GPS/fishfinder in my fishing boat. This included installing the new transducer on the transom and routing the cable through some difficult passages, then mounting the unit itself. Since I do not own a trailer for the boat, I had to rent one to get the boat out of the water for the transducer install. Brenton was willing to accommodate the 1-day trailer rental and come out on a Saturday to install the transducer which was great. Recently, I purchased a 1989 Bertram 37 Convertible. I wanted to do some upgrades to the stereo (Fusion 755), add a TV, batteries, and inverter/charger. Not really knowing what to expect after being extremely disappointed having had a few integrator's provide estimates, or say they were going to provide estimates and never showed, I was a little hesitant to contact OC Marine Installation. Much to my surprise, after contacting Shannon at the OC office, an apt was made and Brenton (owner) not only showed up on time, but was actually early. We walked and talked about the boat from bow to stern and he clearly laid out the chronological events that would follow, and an estimated time frame for completion and cost. While we did run into some unexpected hiccups along the way (not OC's fault) and scope creep (I added to the project as it progressed), Brenton and team did an unbelievable job, stayed true to the scope of work, and kept a consistent open line of communications throughout the process. They installed a new radar, gps, sonar and auto pilot. And on top of the install, they cleaned up a lot of existing wiring issues, and what a super clean job they did! We decided to add solar panels to our 40 Tiara (we're on a mooring in NB) and reached out to Brenton and his team for the job. He did amazing work, which included super tidy wiring, thoughtful placement of the panels, coordinating with my canvas installer to sew them into the soft top, and use of quality materials. We were so pleased with his approach that decided to also have him redo the sound system, so he added a new subwoofer and separated to inside and outside sound with nice toggle switches on the main breaker panel.
