Paid Matt a little over $4k parts and labor to do a 500-hour service on a pair of Verado 400 motors. Labor was $2200, for literally 4-5 hours of work (he did it at my house). That was fine, he told me what it was going to cost overall and I said OK, and frankly have no issue with it. He brought the wrong fuel filters and didn't bring the zincs. Fine again, I told him he could do those later and I withheld $200 from the final payment for those items (cost of fuel filters that I had already paid for was $90 alone, so figured $110 for the zincs and labor for both was fair). Fast forward, I texted him over the course of several months to find out when he was going to finish the job and now he's ghosting me. Last time he said he'd finish the job was in June. No problem with the work he did, but if you hire him and he doesn't finish the job right there I would withhold a significant amount until it's finished. I would say this is very poor business practice and I'm upset I need to find another mechanic to finish my 500 hour service. read more

Unfortunately i have to give this place a bad review. I made an appt 2 weeks in advance. He cancels 25 minutes prior to said appt on the day of. Then he says he can be there at 8am the next day. Texted him to confirm and i never heard back. It is now 8am on said day and ive called and texted him. No reply. No answer. Horrible communication and horrible reliability. Would not recommend because you obviously cannot count on him being there or communicating with you. If i could give a ZERO or negative stars i would. read more

Freedom Marine has serviced both of my boats several times over the last couple of years and I couldn't be more pleased. Matt is honest, clean and super knowledgeable. He answers all my questions and educates me on how my systems work. We've had to reschedule a few times but as a mobile mechanic it's understandable. Dealing with corroded nuts and bolts things break. He also services Tow Boat US's fleet and they often call him for emergencies pushing his schedule back. Personally I don't think I'd appreciate if he left me 1/2 way through a job to keep his appointment (he never has). Matt is hands down the best mechanic I have ever had the chance to work with. In my business we see every mechanic in the general area and while their are a lot of good mechanics, there are very few great ones. Matt has taken our fleet of boats under his wing and I could not be more thankful. Being a certified mechanic is often over looked when someone asks if someone can get the job done. Yes a lot of mechanics can get the job done, but most do not take the time to go to the classes that mercury, Suzuki, Yamaha, etc put on to be certified to work on there motors. That's where Matt comes in. He has done the classes. He continues to go to the classes so he is literally the best of the best. The boats in our fleet are tasked with an extremely complex job. We run our boats every day 365 days a year and when they break down (like all boats do) Matt is there to get them back up and running to save the next boat in need. He does our services every 100 hours and advises when things need to be changed based on what he sees.
