I have been a loyal customer for over six years, and until today, Sydnee's was the only groomer I trusted with my dog. Over the years, they consistently took excellent care of her, listened carefully to the haircut I requested, and handled her with patience and gentleness. Aside from one very minor nick on her thigh during a previous appointment, I had always felt comfortable leaving her in their care. Today, I dropped my small dog off at 2:00 p.m. for a full groom. As always, I kept my phone nearby in case she finished early or there was an emergency. At 4:30 p.m., I received a text that she was ready for pickup, and I arrived by 5:00 p.m. As soon as I entered the store, the groomer, Jen, informed me that my dog had been cut on her ear. She explained that my dog had bled but that the bleeding had stopped, and she advised me not to bother the ear because it could bleed again if disturbed. At that point, my dog was still behind the glass in a kennel, so I had no opportunity to examine either her haircut or the injury before paying. Trusting that the injury had been accurately described, I thanked Jen for informing me, paid the full grooming fee, and left a tip. I noticed dark gray and black flakes around her ear and brought my dog to my car to examine her more closely. I immediately realized the injury was much more significant than I had understood. Rather than a small nick, a noticeable piece of the edge of her ear had been cut away. I returned to the store immediately and politely explained that I was concerned because the injury appeared much more serious than it had been described. I also expressed that I wished I had been given the opportunity to see my dog's injury before paying and tipping. Unfortunately, the conversation quickly became defensive. Rather than acknowledging my concerns, Jen repeatedly blamed my dog, stating, "Your dog moves around so much. What do you want me to do? Restrain her? Even the lady who does the baths says your dog moves so much." When I mentioned that this was the worst grooming injury my dog had experienced in six years of coming to Sydnee's, she again responded unproductively that my dog probably gets nicked because she moves so much. Again, apart from one minor nick to the thigh during a previous groom, my dog had always left Sydnee's without injury. What disappointed me was not simply that an accident occurred, but how it was handled afterward. I would have appreciated the opportunity to examine my dog before completing payment and a more accurate description of the extent of the injury. The most disappointing aspect of my interaction with Jen was her choosing to assign blame to a frightened dog. Before I left, Jen told me that she would not groom my dog for her next appointment. I told her that, after this experience, we would not be returning.

The haircut was decent and the experience was okay, which is why I decided to come back with all three of my dogs. Looking back, that was a mistake. I scheduled appointments and clearly discussed haircuts for all three dogs. They kept my dogs for over three hours, and when I picked them up, it was obvious that almost nothing had been done. No haircut. No proper grooming. No bath. It looked like they had simply been brushed and sent back out. After wasting hours of my day and leaving my dogs there, I received essentially no service. Then came the best part: they expected me to pay around $100 per dog anyway. Let me be clear--the money is not the problem. The problem is expecting customers to pay hundreds of dollars for services that were never provided. Why would anyone pay for a haircut that never happened? To make things even worse, over a month later the owner called me demanding money and threatening legal action. Instead of taking responsibility for the fact that nothing was done, she chose to act aggressively and try to intimidate me. If that is how customer complaints are handled, it's no wonder people leave upset. This business seems far more concerned about collecting money than actually delivering the services customers are paying for. The lack of professionalism, accountability, communication, and customer service is unbelievable. I gave this place a second chance because my first visit was decent. After this experience, there won't be a third chance. I will never bring my dogs back here again. If you care about your pets, your time, and your money, I strongly recommend finding another groomer. There are plenty of businesses that actually do the work before demanding payment for it.
