I just LOVE Pennys! Everyone that works there is so nice, I love the self wash stations. My dog loves it. I've tried to take him to other self washes and they stress him out but at Pennys he is relaxed loves the employees and dogs. It's very reasonable definitely worth $16 (because I bring my own shampoo) but they do have all the tools and shampoos if you need them. It's always clean and I just love this place! read more

Marylou we love you! She always does a great job with our dog. He's afraid of water and about 70 lbs so we have a really hard time trying to bathe him at home without a bathtub. She always is super diligent and goes really quick. Our dog is a pitty mix so he has short fur and he always smells AMAZING when we pick him up. I've had my dog wash by their staff and I have used the self wash, I am pleased with both and would definitely recommend them to anyone. My dog had bilateral TPLO surgery less than a year ago and the staff took great care of her during her wash! Great price point for my 70lb husky at only $90. Made sure to leave them a great tip and look forward to next time. Oh one more thing to add is they have a great website that lets you book appointments rather than having to call. Penny's Pup Wash is the unsung hero and savior for my dog whilst living in OC. Since I don't have a yard to bathe her in, I am so thankful this place exists! I have a German Shepherd who is definitely too big and a bit fragile since she's 10 years old to just put in my tub. I needed a place that offered self wash stations which I would say was pretty abundant in Northern California, but is pretty scarce down here. Upon visiting, there were several tubs that were clean and ready to use. They had movable stairs to help the dogs into the bath tubs, aprons, towels, and a bath caddy full of grooming supplies. The caddy had different types or shampoo, conditioner, ear cleaner, paw cleaners, scrubbers, cotton, etc. There was also a container of combs and brushes to borrow, and towels are supplied as well. Once you are done bathing your pup, there are also blow dryers outside. Staff is really sweet and helpful as well! This is just your one stop spot for grooming, and the atmosphere is incredible. First time for me and my puppy at a self-serve wash. Staff was great, and explained how everything worked as well as gave me a hand to get started. It was really fun to watch my puppy observe the other dogs and mirror their calm behavior which he doesn't always do at home. We also got to experience our first time blow drying him, which he quickly became accustomed to, again, I think because he was watching the other dogs. Sadly, its in the grooming arena where their customer service falls short. The quality of cuts are fabulous, and great stuff to behold, indeed! However, their communication skills are sorely lacking but the greed is not and really needs improved upon at this hidden gem of an Oasis located in the far back corner behind the KFC Also! Your pup needs 4-5 HOURS for wash, cut and blow-dry! NOT 1 1/2 hour time frame stated in the confirmation email! It's very misleading, inconvenient and needs honest transparency! We used to take our dog to Caroline and she had been doing a fantastic job. If it wasn't for the other person who works there (maybe the manager) we would still be going there. The other person with the tattoos isn't friendly. She's rude and stares when you pick up your dog. I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable with her touching my puppy and always made sure she wouldn't be. She's very aggressive and forgets she's running a customer service driven business. I would call ahead and ask who would be servicing you and your puppy before making an appointment to make sure it's not her. Confirmed the appointment the week before and then 40 minutes prior to my appointment, someone called me and asked, "Is your dog good with other dogs, and can IT be in the kennel for long periods of time? i came here about two weeks ago with my gemerman shepherd pitbull mix - immediately noticed how the place looked like it needed a cleaning but i ignored it thinking i was being too judgmental. A women completed her washing and left and i noticed how little the worker "cleaned" the tub she had used and that was when i was worried. sure enough i got a full fungal infection the very next day that is still healing to this day. i would recommend going to "Barkbath" in costa mesa. they are extremely clean and use industrial level bath tubs. the owners comment on this is hilarious read more

Wow! MaryLou at Penny's Pup Wash was amazing. Despite being slammed pre-4th-of-July, she and I arranged for me to bring in a shelter dog that had been pulled from her 6 month stint on her execution-day. Her bathing & grooming was desperately needed, as this poor girl had been living in her own filth. She had fecal matter caked & matted into her hind legs, chest, belly, tail (and I even found clumps of it on her neck). She smelled horrible, and I'm sure she felt crummy too. MaryLou was very kind and patient with Coconut, and made sure she felt comfortable during her bath. She did an excellent job working out all of the crud (I think MaryLou needed to wash/rinse 4+ times to get Coconut clean), brushed out TONS of stuck shed, and helped Cococonut look and feel fantastic!
