OB Thrift is one of the better thrift stores in the Ocean Beach area but definitely needs some improvement. I came here to try to find some tees and was shocked at how high the prices were for very worn looking tees. Since I didn't want to spend over $20, I took my time making sure I only bought what I thought were in the best condition. After 30 minutes I finally bought 2 tees for $18 which was still pretty expensive but I guess it's better than spending $40 for a brand new one. Overall my shopping experience okay but I don't think I'd come here again. read more

Check your receipt if you use a credit card on this shops square terminal! The male owner had me tap my card and then quickly pulled the terminal away and I noticed it was showing a tip screen. No "thank you" or "have a nice day"; he just walked over and whispered to the female owner standing behind him. My intuition meter was abuzz, but I didn't want to think the worst. Then the Square receipt hit my email and proved my intuition. They tipped themselves $5 on my $19 thrift clothing purchase. I called immediately and told him I knew what they did, and he didn't apologize just said it would be refunded. It's been over 48 hours and nothing. I'm pretty sure I'm not the first person they've done this to, just happened to have my email saved with Square. This is disgraceful business practice and the BBB and Square will be notified. So check your receipts or better yet, take your business to people who don't steal from their customers. Square receipts attached in case they even try to discredit what they did. read more

Every year Becky's family has a themed white elephant gift exchange for Christmas. This year's theme: Something from a thrift store. $20 max spend. We were staying the weekend in OB. After breakfast on Sunday morning, we were wandering around going into different shops when we happened upon OB Thrift Store. What a cute little thrift shop! Upon entering we found it to be a somewhat narrow shop. A lot of clothing items just as we walked in. We then spotted the next room, up a couple of stairs beyond the initial room. That is where all the trinkets and toys and such were located. That is also where Becky found the rad Spaceman/Robot toy. It was in perfect working condition and looked to be the perfect gift for the family exchange. It moves, it talks and even dances including moon walking! (The video wouldn't download so I attached a still shot(. I found a few things, but nothing that I deemed worthy of buying. We really liked OB Thrift Store. A good example of thrift stores showing you neighborhood vibes by having stuff that people in OB prefer. They have better quality thrift store items than what I've seen in Goodwill. They also have a better mix of things that seem more popular and there are some interesting finds. It's thrift store style so it's ultra casual but I thought their items still had more style than what I've seen in other thrift stores. These complaints that Ebay stuff is cheaper don't really make sense to me when shipping anything online to your house can get expensive anyways, so this is a better value than Ebay IMO. A little small but good lighting and impressively good selection level for a small space. Their book shelf is competitive with the prices at library used book sections so it does have better value pricing for books than Goodwill. read more

She looked at me with such a distasteful expression and went back to doing whatever she was doing, with her ear buds in. Super bad taste in my mouth for this shop. She didn't even respond hi or greet me. Never will ever get my business or will never walk into this store again. Also to note, be aware. This "thrift" shop has tons of Knick knacks and random stuff. the best thrift store i have ever been in my life. i'm from dallas, i had taken a spontaneous solo trip to san diego back in late january-early february. i had stayed in OB for a couple of nights and i ran into this store. the couple who owns the store are so sweet! i didn't know what to do there especially at night time. they recommended and gave me directions to go to a open mic night at a cafe nearby. i had bought a white dress, suitcase, and a coach bag. all for extremely affordable prices-amazing deals! ever since i got back to dallas, people would ask me about these items and i proudly say i got it from this cool thrift store in san diego and when i tell them the prices, they all get shooked. read more

service is so rude, i stopped in today just to browse around and ended up finding one thing that i really loved. as a returning customer who usually dismisses the rude behavior i found it shocking to have been walked up to and asked to "stop" and "leave" by the woman with the longer brown hair as i was further checking out the sweatshirt because i wanted to be 100% sure about it considering it was pretty large in sizing and a bit out of budget for me. in their defense i came in with a larger bag in which i never touched or opened while walking throughout the store, so it really makes no sense to have asked me to leave if there were no signs of me wanting to steal the sweatshirt. they have an amazing selection i would've bought the sweatshirt had i got the chance but i guess not. very unfortunate i loooved this thrift. read more

They've got some pretty good stuff at this store - definitely more interesting and better quality than Goodwill or Salvation Army. Lots of cool knick knacks and collectibles. As someone who collects bobbleheads, I was pleasantly surprised to find 5 or 6 of them. The quality is good, but the prices are pretty steep. This is a resale store so you won't be getting as good of deals as donation-based thrift stores. While there were a few things I probably would've gotten for normal thrift prices, I passed on everything because the deals weren't very good. Some of the bobbleheads I saw were priced higher than I could get them for on eBay... Definitely a cool thrift store and worth a check. It was fun to just stop in and see all the cool treasures they have. I'll be back, but it will probably be just to look unless prices drop a bit. read more

The selection was nothing special, same as any other old goodwill. Pricing was fair for a thrift. The customer service during my experience was bad. Looking at the other reviews it seems to be a hit or a miss, but unfortunately for me the owners were really rude. The walkways are pretty narrow which isn't a big deal to me but it is hard to get out if there's multiple people in there. Honestly I would go back because I do love to thrift, im just disappointed by my experience here! read more

A fantastic neighborhood thrift store. The quality of the items being sold is quite good--better than other nearby thrift stores--and the store is clean and well-organized. The owners are attentive, friendly and informative. I live nearby and go here often, so I'm not writing this based on one or two visits but many visits over months. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in Ocean Beach. It's located right on Newport Avenue near restaurants and shops, about a five minute walk to the beach. They are also following all Covid-19 procedures so you will safe here from that perspective. read more

Super junky store. Bad energy. The people who work here are extremely rude. After browsing the store for a few minutes, they approached me and literally yelled at me for having my own shopping bag. It would have been nice if they were kind enough to inform me that outside bags are not allowed, but instead they came at me with very mean and loud tone of voice saying that I need to leave the store immediately.
