I found some plastic shelving at this Goodwill 2 years ago. That is about the only thing worth mentioning that I bought that was a good find, here. It was still $20 each. Go to spot for furniture. I got a new IKEA desk for 5 dollars and that's pretty unbeatable. I also find lots of expensive clothes and accessories here. Totally worth the trip, really reflects the point Loma vibe around it. Not a lot of plus sizes which is my only gripe here. read more

Stopped by today, looking for a piece of art that I could repurpose into something spooky. Did not find what I was looking for, but this Goodwill is very well stocked, clean and organized! They did have quite a bit of Halloween decorations and some really beautiful antique pieces of furniture. I saw a table that was solid wood and had a gorgeous inlay for only $40. It had six chairs with it. The chairs had a couple little things, but totally could've been touched up, or just leave it like it is for the charm! Made me wish I had a space in my home for that. This is The Place to go if you have a large quantity of donations. We pulled up in a U Haul, and contrary to other "donation centers" were greeted by several eager helpers, who seemed to view unloading as a competition - who could get the most done the quickest. Awesome. read more

Literally just walked out of this store with my sister and there is a young Asian woman with glasses working there that kept following me around the store while I was shopping. She needs to me more discreet. I did score a pair of designer tennies for $15. I guess I recommend this store if you're not black. read more

This is the kind of retail therapy I need... A store with different departments that cost one fifth of the price of TJ Maxx. I can get my shopping fix and not break the bank. The store is neat and organized. The staff is helpful and there are plenty of dressing rooms. They also have a back room that I recently discovered with furniture and toys. This is a great place to go during the holidays to get costumes, decorations, etc. Parking is a little tricky and some of the things are a little pricey still for my budget, but the overall experience is great. If you have extra items, you can also donate them in the back of the store. read more

It was time to donate some items and we chose goodwill. My children had a lot of nice clothes and shoes that they hadn't used in so long. We also had some small kitchen appliances that we had never used. I know all the stuff donated will go to good use and people will appreciate it. It was easy to donate. Thank you for watching. I've been donating to Goodwill my entire life. My family has, for generations. That ends today. I walked into the Goodwill on Rosecrans to grab a cheap coat -- $12, all raggedy, should've been in the trash, but I wasn't trying to spend money on something I'd only use for a minute. I planned to pass it along to someone in need, like I always do. Then a staff member walks up to the cashier and says: "He's buying that coat, right?" Accusing me of stealing -- over a torn-up coat at a so-called charity? That's when it hit me: This place doesn't serve the people. It profits off poverty. You walk in and see hotel soaps and shampoos -- stolen stuff. No hotel donates toiletries to Goodwill. They give to real nonprofits that distribute directly to the community. And Goodwill? They sell cast-off junk for boutique prices. $15 for old shirts? $25 for hand-me-down coats? Meanwhile, they're paying vulnerable workers barely enough to get high, sleep on the streets, and come back to be treated like machines. If you really want to help: Skip Goodwill. Go straight to the homeless encampments and hand your clothes to someone who needs them. Or head to Salvation Army on Sports Arena, where they offer rehabs, housing, women's shelters, and real compassion. Because Goodwill is no goodwill. It's a joke. A scam. Tried to purchase a tote bag that clearly came as a set with matching organizer; same color, same material, obviously intended to be sold together. Probably the best goodwill I've found in san diego so far. Clothes from Lauren Ralph Lauren new with tags. White House Black Market, same. Zara, ditto. Came here with a friend for some thrifting on a Sunday morning. This location is in the heart of Point Loma and fairly big compared to other Goodwills in SD. Giving 3 stars because of the prices. Most Goodwills are overpriced in general since thrifting has been trending up and this location wasn't an exception. However, this location is very organized to the other Goodwills I've shopped in. All of the clothes and accessories are in the front half of the store while the home decor/furniture and miscellaneous reside in the back half. Great variety of stock and it rotates often enough, just don't expect to get the best deals. read more

A little time to kill so I searched for the nearest thrift store and this popped as #1. Its size is deceiving when looking from the outside, but I've seen smaller. I didn't expect to find anything to buy but wanted to check them out anyway. And the joke is on me: this place is HUGE! Okay, so I didn't think the structure next to the parking lot was also theirs (it looked like it was for another business on the other side.) And oh, how clean is this entire place! Staff here take their jobs seriously. They take the time to decorate the tops of their shopping racks, they organize all their items for ease of shopping (kitchen ware, electronics, sports area, etc.) It couldn't be easier to find stuff! And what I liked most is they color coordinated all the shirts! What?!?! Never seen that in ANY thrift store! I ended up buying almost $25 worth of things I didn't think I needed (okay, I didn't need them, but I really wanted them!) As of 4/17/2021, THEY ARE HIRING. Big selection and they really do a nice job making displays of the items. I was there during holidays and they had a special section with all the sparkly/holiday clothing plus lots of endcaps with holiday items. The prices here are kind of steep compared to other thrift stores. However, overall, I would say the quality of the items is nicer. Staff is friendly always provides a warm greeting when you come in. We have also donated here in the past and the donation team is friendly and helpful and tells you how to organize sort/items. read more

Huge book selection. And their DVD collection is just as impressive. This is where I actually bought my first used Blu-Ray movie ever. It was The King's Speech, which was a steal at $5. What I didn't like was its limited puzzle and games selection. But that's variable with Goodwill stores. Some places have a great selection, and others barely have any. Plus, the layout of the store is a bit... odd. I do like the store's drive-thru dropoff points outside. You don't have to park to drop off stuff, which is ideal due to the growing homeless population that has set up camp down the street from the store. read more

Besides being completely overpriced ($7 for a T-shirt?!), this Goodwill does not even honor their own price tags. I found a dictionary with a price tag that said "$.99". I brought it to the register and the woman said, "this is actually going to be $1.99, we usually write a zero for 99¢ items. Is that okay?" I of course said no and that the price clearly didn't have a one in it. I was going to use the dictionary in my class with my first graders but the lady let me walk out instead of honoring the price. The workers at the donation center are wonderful. They help unload the car and carry heavy boxes of donations with ease. They are pleasant and appreciative, as I work to clear out a family home. I also love the store, which has fantastic merchandising and a really big selection of all types of clothing, shoes, and household items. They have a showcase as you come in the door, which holds really lovely items that make great gifts. Just praising this industry for employing such great people and offering such wonderful prices. They help us all recycle, reuse and even repurpose. Thanks to all for helping keep items out of the trash and into new homes! read more

I believe in the mission of Goodwill, but was disappointed with my latest experience there. They have a very convenient drive thru area to drop off donations. Two cars were unloading donations with staff and I was the next in line, so I got out of my car to begin gathering and organizing my things. One of the workers saw me and said, "Geez. Be patient and wait your turn." He continued to make comments about me as I approached the area. I was trying to ensure that I was ready by the time they got to me so I was a little off put by this interaction. I want to recognize that I'm sure they deal with a lot of inpatient people, but when you're trying to provide donations for the store, it can be really off putting to be verbally talked down to. The store itself has some good finds. The prices aren't always a bargain like you'd expect, but you can find some hidden gems that people have given away! read more

Goodwills are already pretty pricey as is, but since this one is in a newer building it seems that they believe the items should be priced higher for some reason. I frequent numerous goodwills every single week as I resell clothing full-time. This is the first Goodwill I've ever been to where every single men's t-shirt was $6. Usually they are priced at $4, sometimes $2, but $6 was pretty ridiculous to slap on every item. I also scanned the outerwear and button up shirts, but they are also priced too high. This store is a prime example of what all other goodwills are doing. Even though all their clothes are donated to them they are slowly raising the prices on everything, which ends up causing a lot of people to pass on stuff. This leads Goodwill to toss out cart fulls of clothes every week when the price tag color changes. If they honestly just marked everything down 20 to 30%, they'd be selling out the wazoo and cause less clothes to be thrown in landfills. The employees were very kind and professional, so the stars that I'm giving on this review are for them. Goodwill gets 0 stars. read more

This place was the bomb. I used to get brand new clothes from some person up Rosecrans hill that would clean out their closet and dump brand new stuff, in my size, in my brand - it was heaven!! Today I did not go look for clothes but I found they opened up another half-a-Room. they're crazy thinking I'll pay $2.95 for paper storage boxes that are old, stained and ripped. cute patterns but no not cute for $3. no way. this location is in NO WAY a Handicap Friendly location. there should be a button on the outside so that people in a wheel chair can tap the button and enter the door : they can't be forced to pull open a door with one hand while steering their wheel chair with the other: crazy. There's always a place to find parking in this area: midway/point loma. and when you're done you can go get dinner :) noodle house, generic italian, Mexican , chinese, even chuck e. cheese. its all here. .but. .no bargains on fresh items. It's almost Halloween and I'm trying to find some inspiration for a costume. I notice what's hanging in the windows so I stop in. I didn't have much luck on costume pieces...so discouraging, but I found a well organized store with a wide variety of offerings from clothes, housewares, and around the corner there were some framed pictures and books. There's other random items from guitars and mugs to bobbleheads or other knickknacks that could be sold to collectors on eBay for nearly tens of dollars. No clothes or Halloween costume tonight. My final purchase was a couple of new overstock Energy Star 2-pack light bulbs at 99 cents each. Go green! This Goodwill store is great for a motivated bargain hunter or treasure seeker hoping to stumble upon an uncommon item of interest. read more

I shop at goodwill very often for the deals. Considering the company gets stuff for FREE 8km not sure as to why I find name brand used items marked up 3x the RESALE amount. I know everyone is looking to make money but this specific location has up charge that's like no other goodwill I've seen. On one of our first vacation days in the city, we started by going thrift shopping all over the place. One of our favorites was this Point Loma Goodwill. I loved hearing Kristine's memories of this location; it was fun to return together. This location is easy to find off Rosecrans Street and offers parking nearby and in the back. This is also a large donation center, with drive thru services behind, just pull in and drop off. The entrance is in the front; it's a very nice building with high ceilings and kept very clean and organized. The main room has the collectibles and clothing all around. Men's clothing is to the right in a separate area of the building. At the back of this section is outdoor items, toys, games, and home items. At the back of the main room is a hallway to the right which has: exercise equipment, furniture, artwork, and a library room with more furniture and books neatly organized on shelves around the perimeter. Prices here were excellent; it was hard for us to limit our amount! My treasure here: complete like-new RISK Lord of the Rings for $5. read more

This is one of my favorite goodwills in San Diego. It is very large and a lot to look at, which is what I personally like. The clothing is reasonably priced (for a goodwill) I like all their miscellaneous things, they have a lot of wall decor that is actually really inexpensive compared to the clothing. They have a lot of furniture too that is usually in very good shape. The book selection is great as well. The clothing section is huge and there's always lots of things to find. Also a very good selection of purses and designer things in the cases. Very nice store. read more

So, you may or may not have recently had a gf and her 2 kids move in with you and bring half of creation with them. When that's the case, who ya gonna call? GOOD-WILL!!!!! Forget the Salvation Army and their one-way sad excuse for a parking lot that looks like it used to be an alley pre WWII or something. Forget the tricked out ghetto thift store down the street where homeless people are literally sleeping on the couches outside the door (yeah that's right - those are the couches that they expect you to buy). The Good Will is so easy and convenient! You pull up into the drive thru lane and the friendly people will help you unload your car with your belongings and they will load them into their bins for you. They give you a receipt if you want it - and here's the best part - within 1 minute-ish, you are on your way!!!! Now, don't get me wrong - this isn't Mr. Belvedere unloading your car or anything. These people are sometimes rough around the edges, but I think it's good that Good Will is helping people that otherwise would be struggling for work! So, if you have goods to donate, this couldn't be easier - and it's in a super easy to find location. I'm burying the lead here, but the drive thru is on the back side of the building across the side street from Big Lots - may not be the easiest to spot if you're looking at the front of the building from Rosecrans. read more

This review is for the donation center only. I was surprised by how easy it was to donate our items. We have a Chevy Tahoe, and the entire vehicle was packed full of things we wanted to donate. We pulled up to the donation location about an hour after they opened (according to their website), and it looked they were still setting up. There were three employees out there - two were moving signs, and one was gesticulating to the cars that were pulling up. Once we pulled in, we immediately had two of the workers at our doors, asking what we had brought them. Now, to be honest, when I started putting things aside in our "donation pile", I did try to organize everything into groups, so that the final donation process would be easier. But, as we went along, the organization went a little sideways. Still, I did hear one of the workers comment, "I love it when people give us clothes that are already folded" when they started taking our boxes and bags from our car, so I felt better about my organization attempts, at least. So, between the three of us (us and one of the Goodwill workers), we had the car emptied within a matter of minutes. They did stop at one point to ask us if we wanted an itemized receipt for everything, and you should have seen the look of pure relief on his face when we told him it wasn't necessary. =) So yeah - points for being a quick and easy donation process, or for not being quite as nit-picky as some of the other donation centers around there (*ahem*). We'll be swinging by one more time, with the final boxes of items to be donated, and I know now that the whole process will smooth and easy, and that we'll be in and out lickety-split. read more

This is a nice clean Goodwill that I stop in occasionally when I am in the area. I rarely buy clothes here but have bought purses and glassware to paint for my crafts, Disney videos, and miscellaneous unique items. Like any thrift store, you never know what you're going to find when you go in but you'll probably find something. Their parking lot is kind of hard to negotiate as there is only one entrance so you drive in and may have to back out. I like that they take credit cards. read more

Best Goodwill ever. Unlike the one that closed up in North Park or the one in Southside in Pittsburgh, this one doesn't smell like moth balls. All the clothes are sorted by color... it would be more useful to have it sorted by size dontcha think? Everything is organized.
