Best Mex in Carp. Huge burritos, fresh made chips, the meat is all fresh and of excellent quality (no grisly fat at all). My wife is very picky and she ate the whole plate. Oaxaca Fresh is one of the places in Carp where we can count on consistently good food. It's authentic Mexican and we've enjoyed our meals hereprobably 95% of the time. I think the only thing we were ever disappointed with was the Asada dinner, which was a little tough that night. Could have been a fluke. Happens to the best of us right? :-) The staff is very friendly. They bring chips and salsa (two kinds) to the table right away - even for breakfast. We've eaten here for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but breakfast is our favorite. The chicken enchiladas with eggs is fantastic, and their breakfast burritos are delicious and huge. Don't try and use your Axxess card here... after ordering we were told that we'd have to order 2 drinks at $3/each to get the deal.. and when I mentioned that this was not on the axxess website or in the book, they told us that we were lucky they were taking it at all, since it was summer. The food was not much better than the service, the shrimp fajitas had barely any shrimp, and the chili relleno was mushy and tasteless. I live in Carp and have eaten here many times over the years, and both the food and service have really gone downhill... we will not be going back again. read more

We were in town and were attracted by the exterior of this restaurant in hopes that the food would be close to authentic as well as the service. What a let down! My husband ordered a Michelada , the waitress which I believe is the owners wife was dry, and almost to the point of rude.. We are Latinos and we take pride in our culture with friendly, welcoming energy and service. You won't get it here. The Michelada had no garnishing it looked like s watered down glass of tomato juice with no presentation, not even a seasoning on the rim. The chips were stale. The salsa was horrible! What is it about a Mexican entrepreneur opening a Mexican restaurant and losing all of the culture not only in the food but in the attitude. Hey, we already have a Taco Bell chain, Oaxaca owner get it together. Go back to your roots and reconnect with the Mexican culture. The waitress brought our bill to table before we were finished eating, that is like sweeping under your table while you are eating. Menudo was tasteless, no flavor or notable spices. Disappointed!!! This is no manner to run a restaurant! We will not be returning. Save yourself the trouble and pass on this restaurant, for what you pay its not worth it. I used to be a fan of this place. Last weekend I went and placed a to-go order, I stood waiting for it by the counter that looks into the kitchen. I was a little concerned that the chef was cooking with his bare hands but assumed he probably washed them. But then, I watched as he got melted cheese from my Quesadilla stuck on his finger, LICKED IT OFF HIS FINGER and then continued to cook my food and then chop vegetables in the back room. I was digusted! And all this he did right in front of me, well aware that I was there and could see him! We were visiting in Carpenteria looking for something close to were we stayed. Yes 2 entrances was confusing but we went indoor #2. The first night a very nice lady took our to go order food was good salsa excellent. Instead of cooking our 2ned night we went back. The owner served us and packed up our to go order. There were enough left overs for breakfast. The tortillas appears to be home made not too bulky and the salsa worth the drive for a day trips not too hot and plenty of it. Place was very clean, food above average service with an extra smile. we hit every Mexican restaurant where ever we wander. read more

So, between that and there being few places open still, and some gnawing bellies, we decided to give it a shot. We ordered the Super Bowl, a Chile Verde burrito and a bean and cheese burrito. Everything was okay - nothing extraordinary. The beans and rice were bland. I wasn't too excited about the prospect of the grilled veggies on the tostada, as previous experiences were always soggy veggies....but the ones here were actually very good and the best part of the meal! Their horchata is one of the best we've tasted. Service was meh. The server was good at his job, but not very friendly. Our bellies were filled, but we're not sure that we'd go back. read more

I had to go to the counter to get some help, chips were not fresh, food less than satisfactory - I had the carnitas tostada (yuck, it was NOT good), had to ask for water, staff acted like they were doing us a favor, we even had to ask for the bill. I'm amazed they are still open - here they are located on the main street - maybe they live off of tourists. DO NOT EAT HERE. We've been going here for years and lately it is horrible. Maybe the worst dining experiences I've ever had horrible. I never write reviews, I really don't care that much, but our experience was that bad. The few patrons in the restaurant were actually speaking with each other and describing their awful food and how long they'd been waiting. We sent the "cheeseburger" back. It looked like a microwaved school lunch or frozen food that would come with a frozen dinner. I had an enchilada and taco combo that was cold and tasteless. When I say tasteless I mean nothing...like it actually took the flavor out of my mouth. How can beans and rice taste like terrible nothingness?!?! We were there for over an hour and a half even though there were only 2 other customers. The two waitresses were walking around and rubbing walls/counters/salt shakers with a dirty rag. I don't know what the "cook" was up to. It was strange and terrible and I implore you not to bother with this place. What a shame?! Where is the owner?! read more

The worst service, and worst food. They were very rude when we had a question about the bill. When I asked them to be more clear they yelled at me across the room. She also told me we could add up the bill ourselves and would not split the bill. While taking our order the waitress walked away to serve 2 other parties then eventually came back to complete our order. The bacon was very dry. Let's see where do I start...it was bad. The worst shrimp cocktail I have ever had. It took me a while to identify the flavor profile. It was like V8 dosed with unlimited amounts of garlic, chunks of onions and tomatoes and then watered down with water. The shrimp, we'll they were edible, I guess. The avocado was good. My girlfriend ordered cheese enchiladas, and they were bland, and the sauce was missing something, could not figure out. We should have known when we got the chips and salsa and the salsa tasted like watered down tomatoes. Luckily no garlic. Carp's food selection is tough. Oaxaca takes so-so, but the service is infamous for being laughably awful. Because the service is so bad, I can't give it more than a star. I rather just go to Rudy's (cheaper, tastes better) or Siam Elephant, which is amazing Thai food (and has oustanding service). read more
