I remember when Oasis opened, I had an amazing meal here with my mom. I haven't been by in a while.. but I stopped by to pick up a lamb kebab sandwich for lunch today and thought I'd update- my sandwich was really delicious. Packed with veggies, yummy sauce, and meat- I really enjoyed it. I rarely eat fries but theirs were so crispy and crunchy- no soggy fries here. It's a great deal - considering inflation and the price of lunch these days, good value. Definitely a gem in Cranford

Enter on the left side door and come around the right to the main dining room. The decor feels exotic and has a water feature, lanterns, and a low table and chairs in the front window, perfect for a small party. Staff is friendly and helpful. They're very willing to explain the dishes if you need some help with the cuisine. The falafel was the best and crispiest I've ever had, and the lamb tagine is to die for. I could have eaten the whole plate: each bite is a new flavor sensation with apricots, dried plums, marcona almonds, and rich earthy lamb that is cooked to fall-off-the-bone perfection, all in a thick delicious stew-like sauce. I'm not sure why I'm not giving 5 stars, maybe I'll re-evaluate when I go back again, because I am DEFINITELY going back here.

First time visiting Oasis. One of few tables there and after a very attentive beginning, our waitress was fairly MIA for the rest of the night. Very comfortable dining area and a nice setting for a chilly evening. Started with falafel - these were delicious and well cooked. Not sure what sauce it came with but not much flavor. The chicken kebab platter is one of the most popular dishes but the chicken was dry and nothing special. I wish there were more vegetables, the ratio was off. The sauce on this one was fantastic but needed more to offset the dry chicken.

Let me start off with what I liked. The restaurant itself is clean and when we got there it was empty so it made it easy to sit 17 of us. So yes this is a good place for a group if you happen to go when it's empty otherwise it might not be so easy to fit everyone. Most of us ordered tagine or couscous. I was excited to try their lamb couscous. I was so disappointed in the taste and texture of the lamb, it was either old or previously frozen for a long time. It was hard and you could definitely tell it wasn't fresh. Unfortunately; I was not the only one who felt this way about the lamb. Everyone else who ordered lamb in their tagine or couscous said the same thing. Thankfully the couscous with the veggies was good but I wish I could say the same about the lamb. They don't serve Moroccan bread but instead serve pita bread (it actually tasted good so I'll give them this). Overall service was good. For the amount of people we had they managed to get our food in a decent time. Unfortunately, because of the taste of the lamb I personally don't recommend this place.

We went to Oasis for the first time with friends. We thoroughly enjoyed this cute restaurant serving delicious Moroccan food. We started with falafel balls, kibbeh, and hummus all yummy. We got the lamb tagline which was fantastic. Also got the salmon kebab and shrimp pil pil which were all very good. Service was excellent. Plenty of parking nearby. I'd come back here again for sure.

I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant and when I finally did I was underwhelmed. I felt everything needed a bit more seasoning. The highlights were the lemonade with mint and the the chicken kebab. The chicken and beef Shawarma seemed reheated and dry, the lamb tagine with plums weren't worth getting and the brewat appetizer was tasty but the filo wrapper was oily. The dishes needed a bit more salt and didn't leave enough of an impression to make me want to return. The service was confused. We had three people waiting on our table and each person was asking us what someone had already asked. The atmosphere was very cute, and it felt like we were in Morocco. It was an OK experience, but not one I would repeat.

Delicious Briwat and Mediterranean Salad

One of the more decently priced Moroccan restaurant that serves a very close approximation to the great food in Morocco. I feel like I was transported back to Chefchaouen the moment I bit into their chicken tagine! Amazing service with a smile, great dishes and a slightly more reasonable price entry point than other Moroccan restaurants in the area. Ordered the chicken tagine with lemon and olives ($25 in Nov'23), lamb tagine with plums (I think they're actually apricot -- $28), and couscous with chicken and vegetables ($27). They are all stewed very tenderly and are superbly delicious. The lamb just melted off a bone that occupies half of the plate, immersed in an immensely delectable stew. While the tagine is, as I mentioned, a respectable representation of the numerous tagine dishes I had in Morocco, the spices and perhaps the charcoal, stewing time, etc. are different here in the US and can't be helped -- but I want to emphasize that it still bears very delicious and authentic tastes and flavors. The couscous, however, was straight-up authentic and on-the-spot delish. We ordered briwat, which has been cut in half from its original triangular shape, and they taste delightfully like a Marrakech import. The decor is inviting and traditional, with beautiful arches between sections and metalwork lamps that altogether emit a warm Moroccan ambiance. I would park in the municipal parking lot (smartly set by Cranford for only $0.25 per hour) "behind" the restaurant, connected to the main street via an alley, but there's another parking lot across the street to the left that's slightly farther away. Superb restaurant delivering superb dishes with a great atmosphere. Will definitely come back.

We had a delicious dinner here this week. The oasis platter has 3 salads and comes with falafel balls. We had a great fresh salad. It was beautiful and colorful. We has a kufta kabob platter also and it was fresh and delicious also. We really enjoyed this meal and will return here to try a totally different meal soon- thank you!

Located in the heart of Cranford, this intimate yet homelike restaurant features a hospitable staff that takes the time to explain the menu, making the entire experience feel so warm and inviting. They offer a comprehensive menu ranging from lamb and chicken to shawarma, seafood , falafel, and so much more. Since they are a BYOB establishment, they will gladly open and serve your bottle for you without any hassle. For starters, we opted for the dip sampler, which includes pita and three distinct spreads. The Mouhammara is my personal favorite; it's crafted from red peppers with a pomegranate syrup that adds a hint of sweetness, while crushed walnuts provide an incredible texture. Next is the Baba Ghanouj, a roasted eggplant dip with garlic and tahini that creates a savory, slightly smoky, and velvety delight. Finally, it includes their classic homemade hummus, which is a classic and delicious choice. I love that you don't have to choose, you truly get the best of all three varieties. For our main course, we ordered the Old City Mix. It's a generous portion for two that typically comes with a garden salad and rice. I personally prefer the greens, so I swapped the rice for two garden salads tossed in a zesty minty vinaigrette. The platter features kafta, shish tawook, shish kebab, lamb chops, shawarma, and four falafels, all served on a bed of pita with tahini and garlic sauces as the finishing touch. Everything is remarkably fresh and seasoned perfectly. The falafel is crispy on the exterior and fluffy on the inside, the meats are grilled to your liking, and the salad perfectly balances the rich platter. I thoroughly enjoy this spot for both lunch and dinner and am even looking into their catering for my next party. Do yourself a favor and visit them soon!

This is officially my new go to spot and I'm going to be telling everyone about it. I got there right at our reservation time, but the uptown trains had completely stopped and my friend had to walk all the way from Canal St to the East Village. It took her about 30 minutes to get there (), but the staff were so kind about it. They never made me feel uncomfortable or pressured to order while I waited, which I really appreciated. I did end up ordering a couple things so there would be food on the table when she arrived. We got the za'atar fries and the falafel with tahini and pita. Delishhhh For our mains, my friend got the chicken kebab which looked fantastic, and I got the veggie couscous bowl. It was unbelievable. It tasted exactly like the couscous my mom and safta made when I was growing up, even down to the broth being served with it. Eating it honestly made me feel like I was six years old again. This was one of my favorite meals as a kid and I haven't had it like that in so long, so I was so happy to find a place that does it this well. The vegetables were perfect with zucchini, butternut squash, cauliflower, and chickpeas, and I loved the addition of raisins and onions. Everything was also really reasonably priced for what you get. The energy in the restaurant was great and I loved that they have hooks for coats so you're not crammed at the table with jackets and bags. Overall just such a fantastic experience. This is easily my new favorite restaurant in the city and I cannot wait to come back.

The greek salad and dips were also solid, but didn't stand out as much as the other dishes.

But although I found the restaurant to be cozy and my server to be friendly, the food though freshly prepared was just average at best. Let me explain. So, after perusing the menu, I saw a few Mediterranean staples, such as, baba-ghanoush, lentil soup, and a beef Shawarma entrée. So I decided to order all three of those items. Now, let me tell you not only was I excited to taste the food here, but I truly wanted to experience what a majority of people on yelp said about this place and its food. But I soon discovered that you truly cannot trust other peoples opinions when it comes to food. You just literally have to try it yourself to see if it even resembles that cuisines standard benchmarks. Well anyway, let me get to what I thought about the food. The lentil soup it's pretty tasty, but it would serve lukewarm. The baba-ghanoush was also tasty, but the pita bread was stale and void of any flavor. And as for the so-called Beef Shawarma entrée, it was literally chopped up cubes of beef! Nothing near to what a standard Shawarma entrée should resemble, or let alone taste like! To be quite honest, I was so disenchanted with the Shawarma entrée that I asked my server to take it away and just give me the bill. I was ready to go! But my server genuinely saw my disappointment with this so-called Beef Shawarma that she pleaded with me to try another entrée. So I asked her to recommend another entrée to me. And she recommended the Skewered Chicken entrée. So, I caved in and went ahead and ordered this Skewered Chicken entrée. But I should've just went with my gut feeling and just should have paid the bill and left. I say this because it took forever for them to prepare this Skewered Chicken entrée and I mean forever! And this is on a Tuesday night with only two other people inside the restaurant, so literally this place was empty! (Not sure if the Cook made me wait for this dish out of spite for me sending back the first entree but that is my suspicion). Anyway, I got my server's attention and she told me if I could wait a few more minutes because they were plating my dish and that it will be out shortly. And that literally took another 10 minutes. To say that I was eager to get out of this place would be an understatement. I was standing up literally putting on my jacket when the dish finally reached my table. My server asked me kindly to return to my seat and to try her recommended entrée. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt and I did so. The Skewered Chicken entrée was a little better than the so-called Beef Shawarma entrée, but really nothing to write home about. What a letdown! I really wanted to give this restaurant one star, but my server really showed genuine concern about my dining experience. And I truly appreciated that. And so as for my take on Le Souk of Montclair NJ. I would caution spending your hard earned money at this restaurant.
