The place is kind of cozy if you score the corner spot with benches. The rest of the place has you sitting on a metal stool. I don't love that. We got food to eat in, but everything was served in to-go containers. I really do not like that. I ordered my 83 year old Mother This rice dish. It had thinly sliced beef. The beef was not edible. It was so hard it resembled beef jerky. The waiter is a sweet young guy. I told him to taste the beef and he did. He agreed it was hard. He offered to give me something else, but i was not interested. The Shoyu ramen was good, but the monster ramen tasted weird. It almost tasted like paprika. Not at all what we remembered from when we were here a while ago. The appetizers (pork dumplings and lollipop shrimp) were good. I'm pretty sure I will not be coming back here. read more

3.5 stars for this ramen spot overall. My Yelp bestie Jo and I arrived 30 minutes before closing so this was not going to be a leisure dining experience. Management was quick to mention it but hunger wins. We ordered quickly and ate quickly. (They were cleaning and packing up the items in the kitchen but never rushed us). Our ramen was quite flavorful and the broth was quite good. Seems during the pandemic, they are serving things in plastic containers and so the full ramen bowl experience was not there...that or it was because they were closing. LOL I'm not sure now. The overall menu looked promising and I saw a few delivery app mentions on their door so I'm guessing that they get good foot traffic when it's a normal business day. Not sure if it was the norm or if it was because it was close closing time. That being said, though, the food itself was good. For $13, I had the basic tonkatsu ramen bowl, and opted for extra bamboo shoots at $1. I initially thought it was a little small as far as portion size, but the ingedients were good quality. Great little spot but pricey for the small serving size, just call me a fatty I guess. Love the interior decorations especially the fixtures on the ceiling. We all ordered the ramen, miso and tonkotsu broth were ordered. Both broths are perfectly salted, but did not possess that hearty and robust pork or miso flavor. As I stated earlier the portion sizes were on the smaller side and that goes for the protein, ramen and vegetables. I only saw one cook and server and they were all hard at work taking and preparing our orders. I would have gave them a 3 star rating but they deserve the extra star for working so hard. We had the Pork Gyoza appetizers which were very tender and delicious with a flavorful dipping sauce. I had the Tonkotsu Ramen which was absolutely scrumptious. The pork belly was tender, delightfully crisp, and yet succulently tender. The broth was delicious and the ramen noodles were tender. There was thinly sliced ginger, bamboo shoots, bok choy and thinly sliced black fungus (mushrooms). I was surprised at how good the boiled egg was with the ramen. My daughter got the Miso Ramen, which was equally delicious but with a more robust flavor. The pork belly was delicious along with scallions, bok choy, ginger ribbons and black fungus. My daughter gave me the tender delicious boiled eggs. We will definitely be going back to sample the rest of the delicious items on the menu. I can't wait to try the edamame, pork belly bun, vegetable gyoza, spring roll, seaweed salad and the rest of the appetizers. I especially can't wait to try the Champon Ramen, Vegetable Ramen, Monster Ramen, , Gyu Men, Gyu Don and tge Cold Kale Noodles. This spot is right next to beach so we stopped to eat on the board walk. And the food was hitting! I tell you. Won't be eating in anymore as they serve everything in to go containers and cups.Boxes stacked up and stuff just left opened. Don't be deceived by appearances this is a superb casual ramen spot! Soup base is complex and delicious with well cooked noodles. It was packed with limited seating, but the waiters were fast. When I got my ramen, the beef was missing. They quickly cooked beef on the side and gave it to me. For the Rockaways this place is heaven sent. It is very exciting to add to the small variety of Japanese restaurants that RB has. And yes! There is something other than sushi! Woot woot! Anyway, its on restaurant row, so parking is a little tight but there is some residential blocks so now horrible. The inside is small but cozy. They have these steel stools which I'm not the biggest fan of because you can't hang a jacket or a purse but it does take up little space. As far as those stools there is not much going on with the decor however the food here is what does the talking. The menu is small but I don't care because everything I have had this far has been great. The servings are plentiful and they don't skimp out on veggies or meats. I like the rice bowl which is an option if you don't want ramen. There is also a handful of appetizers. I like the calamari sticks, it is so crunchy and seasoned well. Also! I recommend that you try the chili sauce made in house by whom I assume is the owner. I have a high tolerance for spicy so I pretty much use half a jar of that stuff on my food. Overall? O'Sake is the real deal; not a faux Ramen House that serves watered down broth. Danny Tung, the owner is passionate and does not cut corners. He cooks his broth 8 to 12 hours The proof is in the soup. The charred pork in the Ramen is the best I've had: charred, Smokey and not fatty. Suggestion: Try Danny's homemade oil based sauce as an additive to the soup. It looks very hot but is mildly spiced. It really adds depth to the ramen. read more

I swear, I was walking past this location last month and said out loud "What Rockaway needs is a Ramen shop!"....and a couple of weeks later my wish came true! I'm obsess with ramen! My usual favorite is Tan Tan Ramen but they didn't have it on their menu. Hopefully that changes soon! My son chose the Shoyu ramen which was good. A bit one note for me but he enjoyed it a whole lot. I had the Gyu Ramen with black garlic oil. It was good!! The broth was light, clean and beefy. The black garlic oil gave it a smoky flavor I enjoy a lot. At one point a lady offered me the chili oil. Didn't know it then but I kinda needed it. It was garlicky, not hot, and super tasty. The ramen was curly and firm. The thin beef was good and plentiful. Egg was a perfect soft boil. (Although I wish it were a Shoyu Tamago-soy sauce marinated egg.) Overall a 4 out of 5. We also had the Takoyaki and they were really really nice. Crisp and browned on the outside and gooey inside. That was a 5 out of 5! Gyoza were good too. The service was great. A lot of attention and timely appetizers. Overall super happy about this shop and it's off to a great start! Get me Tan Tan Ramen, and you have me for life! read more

This review is only for the pork buns because that is all I got this time. I will be coming back to taste other things. This was my first time here but I have been looking for a decent pork bun in the Rockaways since .... forever. I usually travel to Flushing queens because the city is too inconvenient for me. So as you can see I go just about everywhere just to get my fix ... but I am beyond excited that they are in Rockaway. The pork buns were delicious. They were fluffy, soft and stuffed to the max with a juicy yet slightly crunchy pork, generously doused in a delicious sauce that had my husband licking his fingers. I know a spot in the city that make them this good and now I don't have to travel all the way to the city ... they're right here!!
