Mini fridge and microwave with coffee maker

Last night I stayed at the Oasis Motel in the hopes of missing the rain (I'd been camping for a week straight and camping in the rain didn't sound appealing... and it never ended up raining). I searched hotels in the Tacoma area as well as along the coastline, including Aberdeen. I was amazed to find this one for $69 a night--the cheapest amongst all the towns I searched. There was another one in Ocean Shores for $41, but the reviews steered me clear of that place. Checked out the reviews for Oasis on Yelp and Hotels.com and they were mostly amazing (with a few random complaints that seemed silly). When I showed up, I couldn't believe how close it was to the beach/the central hub of town. I checked in quickly and was set up in a queen room (#4) on the first floor. The doorknob was rusty and I started to get nervous. Then I opened up into the room. Wow. There's no way you could ever accuse the decor of being subpar here! The pirate mural on the wall takes hotel art to a whole new level. There's a massive amount of space in the room (especially for just one person) with a comfortable leather couch to lounge on and a wide coffee table (which held all my stuff as I organized it into boxes for the fam!). Plenty of lighting throughout the room, and everything was spotless. The TV is huge and comes with cable; the WiFi is quick. I had a great night sleep. It's a spring mattress, which I'm usually not a huge fan of, but it was firm without being uncomfortable, and I was happy to sprawl out. Only thing that bugged me was the fridge seems possessed -- it was making weird sounds (not normal fridge noises) throughout the night. Maybe it was the baseboard heat? I don't know - but at 3 a.m. there was a lot of noise coming from that area and it actually woke me up. Walls are not super thin-- I was able to hear some doors closing from down the way, but overall didn't have trouble with that (no conversations or the like). Water pressure in the shower was awesome, and the hot water lasted the entire length of my very long shower (it's been a minute since I had one and I was starting to smell like straight backwoods!). Parking is somewhat limited, but I only had my car (if everyone staying here had 2 cars, it'd be really tight) and it was a Monday night, so I didn't have to compete for a space directly in front of my room. I am honestly still so excited I got to sleep next to a pirate ship haha. If it was $10 cheaper (like I read it used to be), I'd be over the mooooon with this place.

Doesn't get any better than this for $69/night. Our room was bigger than we anticipated, with an amazing couch and the highest ceiling I've ever seen in a motel room. Everything was clean and tidy and the staff were very friendly. We arrived unexpectedly late the night we stayed and the staff were very accommodating and made sure we received our key and got into our room, even staying extra late for us. My only regret is that I wish we could have stayed longer. We would come back in a heartbeat! (we could have also used some more pillows but that is a minor complaint)

Oasis Motel has the best lighting on the beach hands down. Check em out at night.

Oasis Motel is my go to spot when visiting ocean shores. Reasonable rates and clean rooms. 5 minute walk to beach, bowling, and restaurants.

Wonderful and clean. And actually pretty cool decor!!!! Loved our stay here. I only wish our sheets didn't have sand on them. The tv isn't very good quality the colors were very saturated but we were grateful for a clean room and tv. The people at the front aren't there at check out for some reason so we couldn't turn our keys in person. But other than that it was pretty nice. I appreciate the cleanliness. They have wood floors, NOT carpet!! I wish all hotels and inns would change to wood floors! They have bagged their box spring but ours was ripped and torn so I hope they change that out! Room #12. Also, maybe get brighter lights for the rooms. It was really hard to see at night. The furniture was really modern and stylish I loved it

The Miral in room 11 is a beautiful lighthouse seeing with that glowing red light this picture doesn't do it justice

The staff were great also and cheerful. Hat's off to the night worker. Came down for something at 4:30 AM and asked if I wanted coffee as well. Just a couple of points of improvement. Water a couple of times wasn't hot in the shower. Also, I felt there were too many rules - a little more slack would be great. (e.g. no late checkouts and a charge if not out on time) Great weather for us too for beginning of April. The Jetty point is a great place to check out at low tide. Check out videos of the Sparlings (birds) back and forth with the waves. Thanks for the nice stay.

Why did we not stay here sooner? From now on Canterbury Inn will be our GO TO place for future stays. We had a studio on the 3rd floor at a very reasonable winter rate. The room was spectacular, as nice as any stateroom we've had on our 6 cruises on Holland America; so naturally we were very comfortable. The room had everything we would need and more; clean and comfortable. Don't even get me started on how comfortable the bed is. I could have spent my entire getaway in that bed had it not been for the beautiful weather. Every staff member I met was friendly and helpful. There is a smoking area in the front and rear of the building. Dogs are allowed, but we didn't bring ours on this trip. I cannot say enough how fabulous this place is. Thank you Canterbury staff for a wonderful stay and we'll see you again soon. :) Beverly S Petterson

The atmosphere had a subtle coziness, but the Airbnb photos made it look much more updated, renovated, and inviting than it actually was. When we arrived, it was clear the chalet was dated. For the price per night, we expected more. Right away we noticed cobwebs on the walls and ceilings, heavy dust throughout, and even dust bunnies under the main bed. The fridge was also incredibly loud--sounding like a jet engine switching on and off all night. Other issues stood out: * Towels were limited, and the ones provided had hair in them. * The bathroom faucet's water pressure sprayed everywhere, forcing us to use our already-limited towels just to clean up. * The blinds couldn't be pulled open because of old, crusted bird droppings on the outside. We understand this is the ocean, but these clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. * The mattresses were by far the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on--making it difficult to get any real rest. What made things more frustrating was their very strict check-in and check-out policy, which they explained was due to their cleaning crew's schedule. Normally, that would make sense, but given the lack of cleanliness we experienced, it made their "no exceptions" stance confusing. That being said, I did appreciate a few things. They were upfront in the listing about the steps leading up to the second floor, and they weren't exaggerating--they really are steep, so it was good to know ahead of time. I also appreciated some of the amenities inside the chalet, which made parts of the stay more comfortable. The chalet itself has good bones and could be a great place with better upkeep--thorough cleaning, fresher linens, updated mattresses, and a little extra care inside and out. As it stands, though, it doesn't live up to its price point. I'd be hesitant to recommend this spot without those updates and at this point would suggest checking out other options in Ocean Shores first.

But we did it through a third party and were way over charged in the first place, so we basically got the room we paid for anyways. But again they didn't haven't to so 3 stars. The second reason would be the breakfast staff never once stopped moving. They continually refreshed the breakfast area when anything was out. We never had to wait long for a refill, and we never went without something just because we got there later. Really appreciated that! But the pool light kept popping out and so it felt unsafe for the kids to swim. That was a major bummer. But on a good end, the pool was super warm and the hot tub was almost too hot! Which I can appreciate. Overall the lobby was nice but the halls and rooms were just a little dirty. Everything felt a little stick and the carpet was just kind of yucky. The elevator hasn't been inspected in a while (literally their inspection is past due on the form in the elevator) so just a little run down in general. Staff rarely seemed happy or greeting. Even when we called down they sounded annoyed to be bothered. We probably won't stay again, but it could have been worse too haha.

Pacific Sunrise Inn & Suites seemed like a great spot and was offering a great deal for a weekend that worked for us. We arrived close to 10 minutes before their check in time and were told that our room was ready for us as we were exhausted from a three hour drive. At the front desk, they do have some chocolate mints for humans and milk bone treats for pets to enjoy. They do have a pet fee per pet but it was fair pricing as they have a pretty simple pet policy. I also appreciate that they are a completely non-smoking spot. The staff there were very professional and pleasant to speak with and they were more than happy to ensure our stay went perfectly. As we entered our room, we were content with the cleanliness of our room and the different amenities. The TV was a little strange to use but after we figured it out, there was no issues. There was a microwave, mini fridge, and a coffee maker which was nice. They also do provide small pastries and coffee from 7:30 to 9am. It's practically shredded & you can barely read it. Took over an hour to get the tv working & when I asked for help at the front desk I was told "none of them work right. It's a known problem." I finally managed to switch the HDMI cable to another port to get something. When I went down to the hot tub the first guest I encountered asked me if my tv worked! I said "nope! It's a known problem!" The jets on the hot tub also didn't work, so we were just sitting in a bath tub basically. There's a Keurig in the room, but you only get one coffee pod to share. I went to ask for another tiny bar of soap since we used ours up, but they were out. They were also out of shampoo, so we had to use the shower gel for everything. The shower curtain is hung so that it barely touches the top of the tub, so water runs all over the floor when you shower. You can tell this has been an ongoing problem because the door jam is completely rusted. When I went to ask for more towels do soak up all the water on the floor, there were two other guests complaining about the same issue in their rooms. Seems like that would be an easy enough fix that could save some major repairs later..... The cherry on top was finding someone's vape pen in my bed.!!!! Hoping it belonged to the housekeeper who changed my sheets?! It was between the comforter & the duvet so that's what I'm telling myself..... that was a first for me.

First time staying at an Inn/AirBNB type place. At first, it felt strange to let ourselves into this big beautiful house and to be the only ones there. But the better half grew up going to Inns and Bed and Breakfast type places and she was all in. NICE. That is the main word I would use to sum up The Collins. Especially with how well they took care of us for our anniversary. Every little detail was thought out and taken care of. The lady who was working there while we were there could not have been better. Super nice and attentive. WE LOVED THE COLLINS. I have been going to Ocean Shores my entire life but always stayed on the main hotel strip. The Collins is on the backside of Ocean Shores and very secluded from the tourist-y parts of the town. The house is gorgeous. A huge house with so many different things in it to do right across the street from the beach. The Collins has that beautiful, awesome Ocean Shores beach aesthetic while also being a very upscale, beautiful inn. My favorite thing about The Collins [aside from the hot tub] is just how well thought out everything is. From the all day snacks and breakfast. To every little touch they add. The people who created and run The Collins are obviously big fans of this type of Inn and really worked hard to create their ultimate image of it. And you can feel that in every little detail of The Collins experience. We also liked the french toast, Starbucks egg bites and all of the things they give you for breakfast here. The pastries were my favorite but we liked everything. We were also incredibly impressed at our room fridge having some nice juice and snacky type options. The better half and I loved this experience. We had such a nice time here. The hot tub, the wine, the chocolates, the kick ass shower, the nice breakfast and snacks. If you're looking for a great experience with your special person, it's hard to think of a better option than The Collins. I've stayed in pretty much every hotel in Ocean Shores and The Collins is definitely at the top of the list if you want a nice, beautiful, relaxing, memorable experience for you and your special person.
