Cons: - the whole downstairs area smelled faintly of wet dog. (We did not bring a dog.) - a few of the dishes weren't clean. They do ask guests to wash their own dishes before checkout, so I'm assuming that was on the previous guest, but it still would've been nice if they had double checked. - it was a bit dusty and there were a few cobwebs. Overall, don't expect a super fancy spa resort, but for the price and the ease of access, it was perfect. I would stay here again.

There are 8 of them in the lot but each one is its own entity. I stayed at one of them for 3 days and 2 nights and had a really good time! The place is clean and spacious with high ceilings and can comfortably house a couple + pets. There is a pet fee and no smoking is allowed on the premises. The place had all the amenities you could need for a little getaway including a: WiFi, decently stocked kitchen, fridge, stove, oven, cable/smart TV, board games, small washer, little private patio, and one parking spot. You can easily move things around the place, I did a ton of yoga in the living room. I loved that I didn't really need to drive anywhere and could just walk everywhere. Check in is super easy and there is a lockbox for you to access your keys. As mentioned in other reviews, the stairs here are super steep and you have to use them to get to the bed. Definitely a hazard if you're not careful and trip. Overall I really enjoyed this little cottage and would recommend it for a couples getaway or a solo retreat!

It was very dusty under the bed and there were spider webs everywhere. There was an old smell to it which I'm not sure if it's mold or just the furniture. I thought I had to shower elsewhere because the shower diverter wasn't working but after many attempts I finally got it to work. I don't think I would stay again though.

We had the Hawaiian Villa, which was cute. It does come with cute decor and almost everything you would need (dishes, cups, utensils, cooking gear, towels, even body wash and shampoo). My only real complaint was a funky, smoky smell that I could not get rid of, I tried febreeze, opening windows, nothing worked. The units are non-smoking, so I don't know if it was from nearby fire pits or what. Also, the bathroom does not have an exhaust fan (again, older building, probably a good 50-60 years old) and it is downstairs. So, if you are vacationing with several other people, leaving the bathroom door open isn't probably an option. But, considering you can hear the ocean from your unit, and are literally walking distance to the beach ( and we scheduled this trip, in July, two weeks prior to going, and usually you have to book a year in advance for Ocean Shores) and the price was VERY reasonable, and their customer service was great to deal with, those few issues were minor. So, for the price and location, yes I recommend. It's not a 5 star resort, but a cozy little retreat for a beach get away.

In any way, this is still a great visit imo. My Titas drive up here to let us experience flying kites before summer ends in PNW. We didn't really stroll or checked that heart of its town as we drive directly to their infamous beach where you can drive on the sand. It's like a free way with no specific policy on what direction you gonna drive. Came here around lunch time and here I am having so much fun with family and bandit flying kites. It's been a while since I last time do this activity. It's nice that even when I am an adult I am still able to have time to do this activity. As I aforementioned I have mixed emotion because people just wanna have fun chillin' but not totally defining its definition as a lot of people are zooming around with their truck, bikes and jeep. It's a bit scary but no law doesn't allowed you to drive on the shore. The environmental impact is high and I think they should limit the time to get there driving around. Even if the sun is shining bright above, it's still chilly and will give you colds. It's smart to bring jacket with you if you plan to stay here longer for picnic. The saltwater is cold and nobody wants to dive to swim here. Plus the water is rough and several accidents happened here coz they were caught in the riptide. Be extra cautious! Mahalo for reading and happy juandering fellow yeeps!

Everything went fine! There's ample space but people will totally park near you and the beach gets pretty busy in the day time anyway so expect visitors. We stayed here two days and the first day was a little overcsast but it's beautiful. Second day it was sunny with a nice breeze and a group set up multiple large kites. I don't know if this is a club or something but sign me up! They had impressive kites, and their skills were pretty cool. Scuba divers, butterflies, hearts, squid and so many more. We also brought along our two dogs and a sign in front says dogs must be on leash. People still let their friendly dogs off leash around their cars and around them when exploring around the water. We did watch an eagle successfully hunting other birds, definitely like a scene out of animal planet and after that we kept our mini poodle close! For the most part walking around everyone respects leash and scooping rules. I will say though people need to do better at cleaning up their trash. There is a lot of trash being buried around the beach and the back grassy hill is used as a bathroom so there's lots of toilet paper making it a landmine of grossness.

The check in woman was very nice and made the process last less than five minutes. The actual beach house was about a five minute drive away in a quiet little neighborhood by the beach. The house itself is beautiful inside! I was a little disappointed there was no garage opener for us to use to drive in the garage, but I guess we could have had someone open it for us to drive in. The driveway was big enough for two cars anyway, so it wasn't really an issue. Dislikes: Only four trash bags for the kitchen trash. We borrowed bags from the bathroom trash when we ran out. The sliding door in the kids' room didn't seem to have a child safety lock, which made me worry they would sneak out and go to the water by themselves. It was pretty heavy though, and they never did sneak out. The TV was supposed to have Netflix, but we could never get it to work (and my husband does tech for a living) There were only two hangars per closet and zero dressers. I had to leave my clothes in my bag, which left everything cluttered. The recliners don't work in the living room. The bedroom patio doors desperately need blackout curtains. The blinds let so much light in that I woke up at 6am...on vacation. The kitchen has a menagerie of pans, but if you're cooking something that needs a specific tool, be safe and bring what you need. Positives: The kitchen is gorgeous! They have kid's plates and cups, a great pantry, and both a Keurig and traditional coffee maker. There were two adult bikes (one girl, one boy) in the garage, as well as some sand toys and kites, and a charcoal and gas grill. The views are beautiful. I could have spent the while weekend sitting on the balcony in the adirondak chair watching the waves and the boats. The deer in Ocean Shores are like squirrels everywhere else; driving to town we saw probably ten, and one morning I watched a doe with her fawn casually walk down the trail right to our patio. There is a hose outside the downstairs queen bedroom for hosing off sand. In total, I loved our time at Beach Gem. I would definitely return.

Amenities include a hot tub (usually), washer/dryer and great location. I love that you can get a place with full kitchen, several bathrooms, a pool table and a kick-ass TV. It makes it easy to be on vaycay even if the weather refuses to cooperate! Did I mention the location? Walking distance to town and the ocean. Close to everything. The only downfall is the walls, which are paper-thin. We stayed at Route 66; it was a theme house with a garage full of vintage restored cars, and a ton of Coke memorabilia. The hot tub was indoors, which made it steamy and musty in the house, but ultra convenient for all-hours soaking. The service was excellent. We were given appropriate instructions and expectations regarding the house. When I locked myself out of my bedroom, my frustration was greeted with prompt assistance and a smile. Even little things that we found around the house that required maintenence were taken in stride; they simply requested that we provide them with a list of items that we noticed. 1 thing to mention: make sure you ask about the amenities and availabilities in the house you choose. I was really glad that I called prior to my visit to know that we were not going to be supplied with laundry soap and certain kitchen items that I required. Also, there was a lack of toilet paper and paper towels even though I had said we would have a party of 8 people. These are not things that they have on their website, so make sure you ask before assuming anything. I love their website too. Great pics of places so you can choose the one that suits you best!
