Seabrook beach

We stayed at the Shore to Please cottage. There were 8 of us plus a baby and a family dog. There were plenty of space with 3 rooms, plus loft with 4 twin beds and a huge family room space, and a mother in law suite! There were 4 and a half bathrooms which was perfect! We knocked down a star because the cottage was hard to find. We wish there were better directions. It was tucked behind cottage 48. Although it was a great location with quick access to the village, beach, and backs up against the promenade. Also, wish we were given better directions with Wi-Fi. We later found out that we were given the Wi-Fi for the wrong cottage. Overall for Seabrook, wish there were more activities to do and wish there were better bigger pools. We think the 4 nights were just enough for a quick getaway and to see the whole place. We loved the gnome forest and candle making.

First stay in Seabrook and everything came as advertised. During these times cleanliness is key, and our cottage rental in the Beach Camp neighborhood was spotless. They text updates prior to arrival and it was annoying having to wait until 5:30pm to check in, but I assume it's due to the busy holiday weekend. Everything was furnished and well organized upon arrival. The kitchen was well stocked with dinnerware, utensils and appliances. (Get all your food at Costco and don't forget the basics including spices, condiments, containers and foil/plastic wrap.) Cell signal is spotty here, but the wifi was strong and the TV was great especially for cloudy/foggy day entertainment. I know Seabrook gets knocked for being too "perfect," but I do appreciate organization and cleanliness. I love IKEA and all, but was surprised to see some lower quality furnishing at times. The town is basically a large AirBnB rental, with some vacation home ownership. Expect to pay a pretty penny for amenities, location, and size depending on how many people to house.

This cute and quiet little time is the perfect place for a getaway with your family or partner. It is very kid and pet friendly. Theres a couple restaurants, bakery, shops, and market in town for your convenience. You can even rent bikes, go down to the beach, or go on a walk on the trail. There offer many homes to rent out as well! Our house was had a beach theme and we couldn't be more happy. There were three rooms ( king, queen, and four bunk beds), hot tub, and fire pit! The house was fully furnished for every use. We loved having the option to cool or dine. I love how quiet the neighborhood was. No one bothered us... we bothered no one. It was GREAT. Only downfall was that we showed up to the house with bags of trash that seem to have been forgotten and raccoons got to it. But josh who was on night duty helped us clean it out. He was very nice. Check in and checking out was easy. We didn't have to talk or see no one because a code to the door was provided. Instructions for the home was sent couple days prior to arrival. As much as I love this place I wouldn't be able to stay here as often as we'd like due to the fact that it's very expensive to stay here. So this is a treat if we ever get to do this again. I recommend trying this place out if you haven't already. Even if you just come down for a day trip. It is on the way towards ocean shore so if you can't find anything to do in town you can always head down that way.

The town is awesome! The town is what keeps us coming back! Lots to do. All walkable. Helpful and kind staff. Good safety and security. Dog friendly. They have pickle ball, pools, basketball, tons of cute little court yards, a nice playground and many other activities, not to mention a beautiful beach with so many sand dollars. Unfortunately the restaurants were not impressive at all, neither the food nor the service were anything special. Also, long wait times. The quality for the price is no good. The icecream shop was good though. Farmers market was small but had some cute little things. The toy store is good. Lots of cute little shops. *****The low score is based on our stay at the SNUG house, I was not impressed. If they made a few improvements it has potential to be a great spot. Better cleaning between guests, better pans, less bossy notes. Part of the problem had to do with house keeping. It smelled weird when we walked in. There was blood on the sheets (more than a little) and loose hairs on the bed when we arrived. A yellow stain on the mattress pad. And we were after the second attempt compensated for the cleaning fee. There was no surprise or even an apology when I talked to them, which was shocking! We stayed 3 nights. The worst thing is that the gross sheets weren't discovered until after the front desk was closed when we went to pull the sheets back to get in bed for the 1st time. The problem with the house was a few things. 1. It wasn't very clean, dust and an assumed mouth wash stain (blue) on the wall and trim. 2. Passive aggressive/micro managing notes. Some were common sense, others seemed over the top (like the one about the bathroom all getting dried off with a towel to avoid mildew after each shower) It really bothered me to see the notes everywhere and about everything. It exceeded the normal rules of seabrook (which are totally reasonable) 3. The worst pans I have ever used and I have used many different inexpensive airbnb pans without issue before. No amount of nonstick compound (butter, oil, non stick spray) works on its surface. You can't cook an egg, or a pancake everything sticks to it and just rips it to little pieces and it all just sticks to the ban. 4. No storage in kitchen and no downstairs closets for food storage. Also sometimes places have zip locks or cling wrap. This place did not. Only foil was available. Not a big deal, but something to consider. The house decor was average, they had lots of games available, plenty of dish ware, not very nice or comfortable couch and chairs. The price was reasonable. The space was pretty tight, but we made it work with 4 adults 2kids and 2 dogs. No pantry for food. It's difficult to score the review, our last visit at the HERON house was great. All positive. 4.5/5

I've always had a good experience from the Cottage Rentals. They've always been very attentive and helpful, houses are very clean and if you need anything, you just call and they will get it arranged for you. We've stayed at Bluebell cottage which is lovely decorated and has everything we need. The location was also great! It is located just behind the town hall, so it is close to the shops and restaurants, close to the beach and close to the swimming pool. We took their bikes for a ride, played games in the house, made a fire in the gazebo just a step outside the front door, and enjoyed the indoor gas stove with a glass of wine at night. Couldn't be more relaxing. I highly recommend visiting Seabrook!

Looking out to the beach from the property on a foggy morning.

Beautiful Summer homes with miles and miles of beach and wooded nature trails, this place has it all. Come and walk the well manicured neighborhood, play some games at the arcade, and eat at one of several great restaurant options. You want it, Seabrook has it! It's only a 5 minute walk to Fresh Foods Market. I was pleasantly surprised by what the store stocked. It's not your typical resort store. The backdoor of the house leads to a grassy area so it was easy to take the leashed dog to go potty without having to walk aways. The hot tub was an added bonus. It's located directly to the left of the front door. You have to step down from the front porch into the hot tub. Luckily there were shrubs planted in front of the hot tub for privacy. The one drawback is the house is located on a very narrow street. We had 3 cars so 2 cars had to park on the street around the corner, which was too far. We went into the Salty Dog. We bought a couple of items. The prices were consistent with the pet stores in Seattle. We also visited the Vista Bakeshop every day that we were there for coffee and pastries. Yum! The grounds are impeccable - no garbage or debris laying around. Nice walking trails. Seabrook is situated on the bluff overlooking the ocean. It's a hike down to the beach and back up to Seabrook. The location is beautiful. We all would like to go back next year to Seabrook.

Pacific Beach & Beyond - The view from our window.

Pacific Beach & Beyond

We were looking for a cozy cottage for a weekend getaway to the coast, and the Periwinkle cottage…read moreat Pacific Beach & Beyond was one of the most affordable options. We also didn't have too many options - President's Day weekend books up fast - and this seemed to have most of what we were looking for. The cottage is one of four closely placed units on a lot. As in, the view from one of the windows is directly across to another cabin's front door. Despite this, it was pretty quiet and we didn't see much of the other occupants. That could be different in summer, when doors are open and people are outside more. Periwinkle is quite small, essentially a studio, so it's really best suited for one person or a couple. The bedroom area is separated from the main room only by sheer curtains, and the windows have venetian blinds and no curtains, so there's a LOT of light in the mornings. It was very cold when we checked in, but quickly warmed up with the heater and gas fireplace. There is a tea kettle, coffee maker, and basic kitchen supplies and utensils, though probably not enough to do serious cooking. You can see the water from the windows, and the beach is just a few blocks away. The decor isn't to my taste - bright green and blue with lots of art glass and wicker - but it's fine. Now for the weird stuff. - There is NO WIFI in this unit, even though other units come with wifi - their suggestion is that you go to the espresso stand a block away. This wouldn't have been such an issue except that we had no phone coverage either, so it was impossible to look things up, get maps, call for reservations, etc. Or, you know, call the management office in case of an emergency. - A lot of things are semi-broken or poorly maintained (missing adjustment rod on blinds, missing heater knob in bathroom, DVD/VHS player missing remote and only kinda works). There's no dresser or suitcase rack to store clothes, just a small wardrobe by the door that's already full of cleaning supplies. The headboard is like a picket fence with the tops sawed down - I don't know why it's even there, because it's not decorative (you can't see it when the bed is made) and it's dangerous with sharp edges right next to your head! The shower curtain is way too long and trails a lot of fabric into the tub, which gets in the way and never fully dries. And so on. - There are very few services or really anything nearby, other than the aforementioned espresso stand and a couple of convenience stores. You basically have a 20-minute drive to Ocean Shores if you want a restaurant, bar, grocery store, or anything else. That might be a plus for some! But I don't think we realized how little there was to do nearby. Overall, it worked, and it's probably better in warm weather, when there's more to do outside and you're not constantly inside noticing all the broken stuff. But I personally wouldn't stay at the Periwinkle again or recommend it to friends.

The description of the path to the dunes said it was 200 feet. We measured it to be 1,000 feet. The path needed work - railroad ties every so often with gravel in between the ties. Vegetation growing over the path. A person that is compromised would be stranded as it is a VERY difficult climb back to the cabin. The ramp leading to the front door needs railings. The floors are uneven and soft. If the carpet was removed, one would probably see rotten wood. The screen door latch to the deck did not work. Needs a new locking mechanism. Railings on the deck were loose. No gutters, and boards from the roof were rotting. TV is basic. VERY few channels. NO wifi. Bathroom is too small, shower head is too low. Kitchen has very small amount of counters to work on. One drawer of utensils crammed inside. Lighting is poor. Very difficult to see/read at night. Deck flooring is uneven, and tripped on it. Foundation is on cinder blocks that have wedges of wood to level the home. The owner does not put one cent into maintenance, or upgrades. The only thing good about our experience was the view. We packed up and left early the morning of the 8th as it was so depressing, and not at all what was represented by the photos. It is shameful and unconscionable that Pacific Beach and Beyond would have this dump in their inventory.

Our second floor room boasted a sliver of a view of the ocean waves if we stood outside and the small kitchen had everything we needed for a weekend, nice fridge, oven, dishes, towels and dish soap. I can't imagine staying in a "normal" room without a kitchen again, the ability to make meals elevates this older building to a much higher rating. The third floor is an entire penthouse and would seem to be the most private with the least noise. There are only stairs so if you have handicap travelers book on the first floor. The office manager was really helpful and friendly and suggested a nearby museum as a must-see, which ended up being a highlight of the weekend. Can't wait to visit again, only this time we're moving on up, to the penthouse in the sky.
