We stayed in the cabin room and it had a fireplace and a partial view of the ocean. But the best part was the restaurant. The food, wine and service was amazing! We tried the flight of red wine and found one we really liked so we got a bottle. The menu changes with the season and what we had was so good. I highly recommend a stay here. Next time I'll stay on the top floor of the resort.

The only thing I don't care for is there are no hooks of any sort to hang your clothes on in the whole room. Especially, in the bathroom where personally an under the sink cubbie for the hotel robe doesn't cut it. The only 2 rods to hang things on are the towel rack in with the tub & toilet area, and the closet out in the main room. Very inconvenient. The outer portion of bathroom where the sink is, only has the cubbie. Initially that is filled with towels & bathrobes. The lack of a towel rack near the sink seems to be a growing trend at motels. What's with that? Otherwise, so far I've enjoy the in room Keurig coffee service and I'm impressed by the room's addition of wine glasses to the clear coffee cups & water glasses. The downside is the cups are a small 8 oz and I had to cycle twice for a decent amount of coffee. View great! Not sure the rest is worth it.

To make sure, we book our reservations a year in advance. It's the best place to relax without commercial hustle and bustle. It fits us perfectly. This place was recommended by my neighbors that now reside in Ocean Shores (which is about a 20-30 min drive from this motel!) The outside has been renovated to include additional rooms. It doesn't look like much from the outside but my oh my, it sure is a nice view of the simplicity of the beach! The room is modern, spacious. When we first walked in, you hear calm chill music, along with candles that light up automatically (turn off in the morning, battery operated). They had a huge Costco blanket meant for the king bed which was SO nice and cozy! The shower is nice! LOVED the papaya soap!!! Such a nice scent. They also provided a couple of makeup wipes as well. When you have the patio door open, you can hear the waves and calmness of the beach! Lots of cars parked to clam dig...and you can drive on the beach too! (There are signs!) Lastly, the staff that work there are SO amazing! I've never had service like that. They provided recommendations of where to go for gooood chowder haha. Both Thomas and Frank, and I believe Katie, were just friendly, and hospitable. Thomas actually refunded my money for the third night since they were running a special on purchasing 2 nights, third night was free! We will definitely come back!

After driving 3 plus hrs, when we tried to check in we were informed by their off site management company, By the Sea, that regardless of our written confirmation we had no reservation or room. Furthermore, Laura, told us, tho off season mid week, and no cars in the parking lot there were no other rooms available. I have never met a more abrasive, unhelpful, hostile person as Laura who hung up on me when I told her that our credit card had been charged for the 3 night stay. With no recourse and no one on site with whom we could talk with to straighten out this mess we had no alternative but to leave. Fortunately a brilliant motel, Moonstone Beach motel was a few blocks away, had an incredibly a helpful front desk clerk, Kate, who wiped my tears and checked us into a beautiful room with similar amenities for less money. My advice, beware of "By the Sea" management company, as it appears our situation is not unique and has had happened multiple times. So forget staying at High Tide and stop a few blocks earlier and stay at the Moonstone Beach Motel. They have wonderful on site management team. Look for my Moonstone review which I will post photos.

For a place that once felt welcoming and reliable, the lack of hospitality and basic customer service was really surprising. They were unable to solve the issue. After he left, I was able to figure out where the breaker was and fixed it myself. After our later than expected dinner we put on bathing suites to get into the hot tub which we found to be empty! The kids were crushed! We called the office the next morning. They informed us the hot tub was broken. They stated that the post was changed in June of this year to no longer include pictures of the hottub. We booked in July. Pictures of the hot were absolutely posted at that time. It was the main reason we booked the house. The office was apologetic and offered us a paltry 5% discount. We told them not to bother and they went up to 15%, which is still a ridiculously low offer/poor customer service. This place is at best poorly managed and at worst deceptive. We have been here for less than 24 hours and it has not been worth the money or the time to drive here.

Our second floor room boasted a sliver of a view of the ocean waves if we stood outside and the small kitchen had everything we needed for a weekend, nice fridge, oven, dishes, towels and dish soap. I can't imagine staying in a "normal" room without a kitchen again, the ability to make meals elevates this older building to a much higher rating. The third floor is an entire penthouse and would seem to be the most private with the least noise. There are only stairs so if you have handicap travelers book on the first floor. The office manager was really helpful and friendly and suggested a nearby museum as a must-see, which ended up being a highlight of the weekend. Can't wait to visit again, only this time we're moving on up, to the penthouse in the sky.

We were looking for a cozy cottage for a weekend getaway to the coast, and the Periwinkle cottage…read moreat Pacific Beach & Beyond was one of the most affordable options. We also didn't have too many options - President's Day weekend books up fast - and this seemed to have most of what we were looking for. The cottage is one of four closely placed units on a lot. As in, the view from one of the windows is directly across to another cabin's front door. Despite this, it was pretty quiet and we didn't see much of the other occupants. That could be different in summer, when doors are open and people are outside more. Periwinkle is quite small, essentially a studio, so it's really best suited for one person or a couple. The bedroom area is separated from the main room only by sheer curtains, and the windows have venetian blinds and no curtains, so there's a LOT of light in the mornings. It was very cold when we checked in, but quickly warmed up with the heater and gas fireplace. There is a tea kettle, coffee maker, and basic kitchen supplies and utensils, though probably not enough to do serious cooking. You can see the water from the windows, and the beach is just a few blocks away. The decor isn't to my taste - bright green and blue with lots of art glass and wicker - but it's fine. Now for the weird stuff. - There is NO WIFI in this unit, even though other units come with wifi - their suggestion is that you go to the espresso stand a block away. This wouldn't have been such an issue except that we had no phone coverage either, so it was impossible to look things up, get maps, call for reservations, etc. Or, you know, call the management office in case of an emergency. - A lot of things are semi-broken or poorly maintained (missing adjustment rod on blinds, missing heater knob in bathroom, DVD/VHS player missing remote and only kinda works). There's no dresser or suitcase rack to store clothes, just a small wardrobe by the door that's already full of cleaning supplies. The headboard is like a picket fence with the tops sawed down - I don't know why it's even there, because it's not decorative (you can't see it when the bed is made) and it's dangerous with sharp edges right next to your head! The shower curtain is way too long and trails a lot of fabric into the tub, which gets in the way and never fully dries. And so on. - There are very few services or really anything nearby, other than the aforementioned espresso stand and a couple of convenience stores. You basically have a 20-minute drive to Ocean Shores if you want a restaurant, bar, grocery store, or anything else. That might be a plus for some! But I don't think we realized how little there was to do nearby. Overall, it worked, and it's probably better in warm weather, when there's more to do outside and you're not constantly inside noticing all the broken stuff. But I personally wouldn't stay at the Periwinkle again or recommend it to friends.

The description of the path to the dunes said it was 200 feet. We measured it to be 1,000 feet. The path needed work - railroad ties every so often with gravel in between the ties. Vegetation growing over the path. A person that is compromised would be stranded as it is a VERY difficult climb back to the cabin. The ramp leading to the front door needs railings. The floors are uneven and soft. If the carpet was removed, one would probably see rotten wood. The screen door latch to the deck did not work. Needs a new locking mechanism. Railings on the deck were loose. No gutters, and boards from the roof were rotting. TV is basic. VERY few channels. NO wifi. Bathroom is too small, shower head is too low. Kitchen has very small amount of counters to work on. One drawer of utensils crammed inside. Lighting is poor. Very difficult to see/read at night. Deck flooring is uneven, and tripped on it. Foundation is on cinder blocks that have wedges of wood to level the home. The owner does not put one cent into maintenance, or upgrades. The only thing good about our experience was the view. We packed up and left early the morning of the 8th as it was so depressing, and not at all what was represented by the photos. It is shameful and unconscionable that Pacific Beach and Beyond would have this dump in their inventory.
