We were looking for a cozy cottage for a weekend getaway to the coast, and the Periwinkle cottage at Pacific Beach & Beyond was one of the most affordable options. We also didn't have too many options - President's Day weekend books up fast - and this seemed to have most of what we were looking for. The cottage is one of four closely placed units on a lot. As in, the view from one of the windows is directly across to another cabin's front door. Despite this, it was pretty quiet and we didn't see much of the other occupants. That could be different in summer, when doors are open and people are outside more. Periwinkle is quite small, essentially a studio, so it's really best suited for one person or a couple. The bedroom area is separated from the main room only by sheer curtains, and the windows have venetian blinds and no curtains, so there's a LOT of light in the mornings. It was very cold when we checked in, but quickly warmed up with the heater and gas fireplace. There is a tea kettle, coffee maker, and basic kitchen supplies and utensils, though probably not enough to do serious cooking. You can see the water from the windows, and the beach is just a few blocks away. The decor isn't to my taste - bright green and blue with lots of art glass and wicker - but it's fine. Now for the weird stuff. - There is NO WIFI in this unit, even though other units come with wifi - their suggestion is that you go to the espresso stand a block away. This wouldn't have been such an issue except that we had no phone coverage either, so it was impossible to look things up, get maps, call for reservations, etc. Or, you know, call the management office in case of an emergency. - A lot of things are semi-broken or poorly maintained (missing adjustment rod on blinds, missing heater knob in bathroom, DVD/VHS player missing remote and only kinda works). There's no dresser or suitcase rack to store clothes, just a small wardrobe by the door that's already full of cleaning supplies. The headboard is like a picket fence with the tops sawed down - I don't know why it's even there, because it's not decorative (you can't see it when the bed is made) and it's dangerous with sharp edges right next to your head! The shower curtain is way too long and trails a lot of fabric into the tub, which gets in the way and never fully dries. And so on. - There are very few services or really anything nearby, other than the aforementioned espresso stand and a couple of convenience stores. You basically have a 20-minute drive to Ocean Shores if you want a restaurant, bar, grocery store, or anything else. That might be a plus for some! But I don't think we realized how little there was to do nearby. Overall, it worked, and it's probably better in warm weather, when there's more to do outside and you're not constantly inside noticing all the broken stuff. But I personally wouldn't stay at the Periwinkle again or recommend it to friends. read more

Pacific Beach & Beyond - The view from our window. - Vacation Rentals Near Me - Moclips, Washington

So my family and I went here on a "last hurrah" kind of trip before I went out of state for college. It wasn't supposed to be a luxurious or grandiose trip by any standard but it was meant to be a small way to get away as a family and spend some quality time together near the serene Pacific ocean. Unfortunately, the placidity of the trip was somewhat ruined by the subpar, pathetic house that was Katie's Cottage. First off, the directions led us to the Pacific Beach & Beyond "headquarters," not Katie's Cottage. This was not an issue at all until the people at the "headquarters" attempted to give us directions to the actual house we were supposed to get to. These "directions" could more accurately be defined as an incompetent set of clues made to confuse and frustrate you. "Go down the road and once you pass the second street look for the green house." I mean, those instructions worked eventually, but a simple house number would've sufficed and saved us some time. But that really wasn't a major issue--just a funny anecdote that, in hindsight, seems to be par for the course for Pacific Beach and Beyond. The cottage looked alright from the car; a bright green house on the side of the highway. However, once we got out of the car and walked up to the house we learned that this house was anything but alright. The dead plants and broken flower pots that greeted us in the front yard were the sort of eyesores that we quickly realized were just characteristic of the house. I am just going to list the problems that we found within 30 minutes of entering the house: The drapes were stained and torn in multiple places. The dead plants and broken pots that were in the front of the house actually surrounded the house in the back as well (the ones we saw in the front of the house were in no way an idiosyncrasy). The pipe cover (for lack of better words) was gross and had clearly been untouched for over five years. One of the faucets for the shower was broken and the showerhead itself barely had water flow. Water just sort of oozed out of it. The floor of the bathroom was prominently peeling away. Some of the outlets were cracked. The windowsills were covered in dirt and grime from years of neglect. And worst of all, in the backyard the view of the beach was almost completely blocked by trees that could easily be cut down by the owners of the house. Honestly, the word that comes to mind to describe this house is "neglect." It is as though the owners bought the house ten years ago and haven't cleaned it since. And it wasn't as though the house was $50 a night. Our total for two nights was over $400! Pacific Beach and Beyond was an extreme disappointment and I hope that nobody makes the same mistake that we did. Two huge thumbs down! read more

My friend and I booked Rocks Cabin September 7-10 The home was anything but a home. The photos are misleading, and the information is incorrect. The description of the path to the dunes said it was 200 feet. We measured it to be 1,000 feet. The path needed work - railroad ties every so often with gravel in between the ties. Vegetation growing over the path. A person that is compromised would be stranded as it is a VERY difficult climb back to the cabin. The ramp leading to the front door needs railings. The floors are uneven and soft. If the carpet was removed, one would probably see rotten wood. The screen door latch to the deck did not work. Needs a new locking mechanism. Railings on the deck were loose. No gutters, and boards from the roof were rotting. TV is basic. VERY few channels. NO wifi. Bathroom is too small, shower head is too low. Kitchen has very small amount of counters to work on. One drawer of utensils crammed inside. Lighting is poor. Very difficult to see/read at night. Deck flooring is uneven, and tripped on it. Foundation is on cinder blocks that have wedges of wood to level the home. The owner does not put one cent into maintenance, or upgrades. The only thing good about our experience was the view. We packed up and left early the morning of the 8th as it was so depressing, and not at all what was represented by the photos. It is shameful and unconscionable that Pacific Beach and Beyond would have this dump in their inventory. read more

I stayed at their "Crow's Nest" unit at 44 Main Street #3. The unit looks nice and the bed was comfortable, but it smelled strongly of mildew. We had to open all the windows for it to be bearable. There must have been some issue in the building since they were running a dehumidifier. I don't think the place should have been rented out as is. It was gross to breath the air in there. Based on Pacific Beach & Beyond's error in judgement of renting this out, I would not stay in another one of their properties again. read more

We found a house that looked like it would meet our needs on VRBO by there name of Katie's Cottage. The Company Pacific Beach and Beyond manages this property. They did not show photos of how the home really looks. This is what we experienced: The deck has paint peeling off much of it. The outdoor potted plants of which there were many had broken plastic pot holders and every single plant had been dead for more than a full year. They were overtaking the pots and surrounding areas. The silverware in the drawers had caked on food and including peanut butter on them. The windows were all mouldy and the screens were ripped. Two of the curtains had tears in them over three inches each. Lots of paint is scraped off the kitchen door entry. Th shower comes out in a trickle. The bath is surrounded with mould as it connects to the wall. The bathroom plastic floor is mouldy and peeling right off the ground as it connects to the bath. The cold water knob in the bathtub/shower is broken right off. The outdoor pipe is covered in ratty, torn towel to keep the pipe from freezing over. The towel has been there for so many years it is literally "painted right on", ratty and torn. The electrical outlets are broken, literally cracked off. The carpets are filthy. The baking pans are not worth of putting any food on, they look over fifty years old. The cabinets are a mess, especially the ones labeled "Housekeeping". The extra blankets are so old, dirty and have balls of material all over them. To sleep in the beds were creepy. I can guarantee the bedding was not clean since the last people were there. We planned one getaway before our son went away to college for our family. We wanted a beach house that allowed us to bring our pet. When we walked in we were more than disappointed when we entered and smelled a musty, moldy place. No open windows could fix the stench. We decided to make the best of it because we felt we had no other choice. When we returned our key to the company Pacific Beach and Beyond it was closed. (By the way that looks like a complete dump as well) We saw someone parking a truck who said he did the maintaining of the facilities. We politely and calmly explained our awful experience and showed him all the pictures. Once he saw the pictures he started saying "You should've called us and we could've fixed this or that" and I said "The entire place needs complete remodeling and fixing, not one thing!" I asked for a refund because we surely deserved one. He said he would forward my complaint to the owner. Within minutes we received an email saying we were in the wrong. We should have come to them. They could have fixed things.... Bottom line, the place is not fit for anyone, period! It is a scam! I would not trust this company ever! read more

We stayed at Periwinkle. Very clean and comfortable. There was a distant view of the ocean from the house and only a short walk to the fabulous beach. Great location. One recommendation is that if you are planning on cooking, which we were, and need any specifics, bring your own if you are driving. Cooking utensils, and pots and pans are sketchy but we made do. In addition, no kitchen towels or dishrags. read more

Wow, just wow. Reserved a home and less than 2 weeks before Memorial Day Weekend; I am told the place was rented out to other people. They had reservations over 6 months ago, my reservation was only a month old, so I lose. Double booking is normally considered bad form. When asked what the owner was willing to do; a discount of 15% on a future stay of 3 days or more but not on a holiday weekend. WHAT?!!?!? You ruin my holiday weekend and will not allow me to use it on another holiday weekend? Irony is the word de jour. The staff at Pacific Beach seems very nice...and it seems more like they are trying to herd cats in trying to keep their bookings straight. I highly recommend going to a hotel or motel, at least you will have a place to stay. read more

In November I booked a small cabin for a romantic Valentines day with the hubby. I received an email a few weeks later to find out the owner had sold the property. They offer a choice of 2 other places. I picked the one that was most secluded. The day before we were to check in, I was informed that the cabin I chose was double booked and they offered a different location for the same price. They did give us 2 nights free where we originally booked. After several months of looking forward to a weekend away, we fInally arrived. the home looked beautiful and had a nice view of the ocean. As we looked around we discovered it was heated by several cadet heaters located throughout the home. On the main floor, there we 2 but only 1 worked. When we took our bags to the master suite, we noticed there was not any curtains on the wondow next to the headboard. Oh did I mention there is a home above that looks down into the bedroom. Well there went the romance to Valentines day. The coffee pot had mold growing in the bottom of it. Oh and the toilet ran all night. The next morning when I went to get food out to fix breakfast I noticed that the fridge was not cold. I had to throw out all the food I had brought for the weekend. There went our candle light dinner. We went into town for breakfast and when we got back the house was still cold. Thought that maybe it would warm up eventually. Well after a few more hours we decided to pack it up and head back home to try to make the best of the weekend. This was one expensive 1 night stay. Lesson learned, next time we either stay in a hotel or take our motorhome. read more

We recently stayed at the Anchor Inn which is one of the vacation properties Pacific Beach & Beyond manages. We were there for the 4th of July weekend 2014. Below is the email I sent to PB&B the Monday after our visit. To my disappointment I have not receive a response. Hello, I wanted to send an email to you guys to share my comments on this property. We just checked out yesterday so I wanted to share this with you while it was fresh in my memory. Overall we had a great time and really liked the property. Below were our likes and dislikes of the property. I want to share these with you so you can address some of the dislikes for future guests. I like to do reviews so I will probably do a formal review with Yelp later this week. Please let me know if you have any questions. LIKES: * Location * Both decks * Large kitchen and living area * Lots of dishes, pots, pans, utensils, etc... * Nice flat screen TV * Board games DISLIKES * Smoke alarm chirped all through the night. We tried to disconnect but it was hardwired. * BBQ Grill!!! This was a fire hazard just waiting to happen. We spent 1/2 hour cleaning the grill before we could use it. This grill is old and rusty and needs to be replaced. You should also invest in a cover to protect it. * No washer and dryer * No instructions for the stereo receiver. We tried to watch movies but there was no sound. I finally looked on the back of the DVD player and noticed the audio cables had been disconnected. We were able to get sound through the TV but not the speakers. It looks like the house has a nice surround sound system but unless there are instructions on how to use it not very many of your guests can figure it out. * Trash and recycle cans. We would have loved to have recycled our bottles and cans but there were no instructions on which containers to use. There was one garbage can by the entrance to the house in the garage and that's the one we used for everything. We noticed there were two containers turned upside down next to the door leaving the garage but we were not sure if we could use them. * FANS!! It gets very warm inside the house so having a couple fans your guests can use would have been very nice. Opening up a window just did not do the trick. * There was no dishwasher detergent to wash dishes. Guests like to put their dishes in the dishwasher and not hand wash them. We purchased some detergent so you have some now. * It would have been nice to have information on the local businesses in your welcome packet. We went out to dinner Thursday night and had no clue where to go. The same can be said for our breakfast the next morning. read more

I decided to book a spring vacation trip or my daughters and I at Pacific Beach never have been there before didn't know what I was to expect just hoping the place was clean and somewhat nice looked at the pictures the pictures look nice when we arrived to the house the house looked OK from the outside we came in and looked around it looked okay but once we started looking around even more we noticed Health filthy dirty this house was so my daughter and I proceeded to clean it because it was 5 o'clock on Saturday so I took pictures and I wrote things down I called Sunday answering service said they were closed. I called Monday morning at 11 talk to a woman told her all my complaints let her know that the house wasn't clean I was not expecting to pay my whole cleaning fee but she told me she would give me 50% off. Mine to the house was a mess hair dog pee dog stains sticky floors dirty bathrooms I actually was afraid to sleep in the beds. We decided to make the best of our week and stay seeing as how we already paid for it and there was no other option comma I will never say never stay here again and I suggest that nobody else stays here again also read more
