1 of the few beaches in America that u can drive ur car on.. meaning u definitely don't want 2 get ur feet dirty over other tires' sloppy seconds anyways.. it was a few yrs. back when we went here n quick question.. have many of u watched the movie called, "The Fog" original version 1979 by my favorite director of all-time, James Carpenter? anyways u'll c y I bring this up in a bit.. (Captain Hook bangs on door w/ his hook.. tap, tap, tap) so I heard a lot about Ocean Shores growing up, it is like 1 of our many 'GREAT' getaways here in WA state.. I mean we have so many islands up here n great outdoor-sy stuff going on.. that's how R.E.I. store here (an outdoor gear focused retailer is able 2 make that money n each nite after they finish counting their money, they throw their money up in the air like rappers, Fat Joe n Lil' Wayne n Make It Rain!..) money meet greed, greed meet money.. money makes the world go round, round is the world that needs money 2 make it go n we're a part of it.. ppl depend on ppl.. am I not right? well.. ok, let's get back 2 the topic.. u have a beautiful boardwalk leading in2 this beach.. the beach itself is filled w/ cars n when Washington state gets nice n sunny, we have an incredible beautiful state.. especially, if u r driving randomly on a road trip overlooking mountains, deserts, nature in Eastern Washington n the peninsula/coastal as u r heading South towards Oregon.. n if u want 2 further look in2 the outdoor-sy stuff or adventures u can do so by searching 4 actor, Grant Goodeve's show, "Northwest Backroads" or Scenic Washington 4 more information so yes, not only can u drive on this beach n do donuts, b happy n live life freely.. maybe Evel Knievel stunts (no, don't do that!).. but this beach is also kid friendly.. ppl! I don't advise 4 u 2 swim here, as the beach is pretty darn dirty.. but definitely, it is a beautiful beach so.. we planned 2 go back the same nite we got there just 2 enjoy the sunset w/ our meals n drinks.. so we ended up @ a McDonald's nearby the beach n the sky n scene was so beautiful can't wait 2 get our meals n drive on2 the beach! comes back out of McDonald's.. a big scary.. giant... fog is coming! there goes our plan

You can drive on the beach dude!

I give Ocean Shores five stars because I have never had a bad time here. There are a few good places to eat, the area is simple to navigate, and it seems like even when it's nice outside, there is plenty of room to be by yourself. My dog is part of the family and we like to take him along with us. There is a stretch of beach beyond Taurus St., I think, that is off leash dog-friendly. We like to drive out on the beach (yes, I said on the beach), pop the hatch, and let the dog get stupid. If we are making a day trip, he will sleep the whole ride home and the next day too. There are few things more joyful to watch than a dog going crazy on the beach. There is also a really cool interpretive center at the south end of the peninsula. It's put together with a lot of love and dedication. If you're in the area, stop by and get your learn on. This is a cool little beach community tucked away and easy to get to.

I LOVE coming here! Always a fun day or weekend trip! Bowling ally, tons of shops! Great pizza & of course the beach! I come here many times a year! We fly kites, swim, & just have fun on the beach! Super cold, but it is Washingyon state so it makes sense! Usually not very crowded except for on big holidays! Very beautiful view at night!

The manager was very rude and unprofessional. We are in our seventies and expect better treatment.

Be prepared for drastic change in weather from inland. Its windy and foggy more often then not. Today was all the above.

Cons: - the whole downstairs area smelled faintly of wet dog. (We did not bring a dog.) - a few of the dishes weren't clean. They do ask guests to wash their own dishes before checkout, so I'm assuming that was on the previous guest, but it still would've been nice if they had double checked. - it was a bit dusty and there were a few cobwebs. Overall, don't expect a super fancy spa resort, but for the price and the ease of access, it was perfect. I would stay here again.

There are 8 of them in the lot but each one is its own entity. I stayed at one of them for 3 days and 2 nights and had a really good time! The place is clean and spacious with high ceilings and can comfortably house a couple + pets. There is a pet fee and no smoking is allowed on the premises. The place had all the amenities you could need for a little getaway including a: WiFi, decently stocked kitchen, fridge, stove, oven, cable/smart TV, board games, small washer, little private patio, and one parking spot. You can easily move things around the place, I did a ton of yoga in the living room. I loved that I didn't really need to drive anywhere and could just walk everywhere. Check in is super easy and there is a lockbox for you to access your keys. As mentioned in other reviews, the stairs here are super steep and you have to use them to get to the bed. Definitely a hazard if you're not careful and trip. Overall I really enjoyed this little cottage and would recommend it for a couples getaway or a solo retreat!

It was very dusty under the bed and there were spider webs everywhere. There was an old smell to it which I'm not sure if it's mold or just the furniture. We had the Hawaiian Villa, which was cute. It does come with cute decor and almost everything you would need (dishes, cups, utensils, cooking gear, towels, even body wash and shampoo). My only real complaint was a funky, smoky smell that I could not get rid of, I tried febreeze, opening windows, nothing worked. The units are non-smoking, so I don't know if it was from nearby fire pits or what. Also, the bathroom does not have an exhaust fan (again, older building, probably a good 50-60 years old) and it is downstairs. So, if you are vacationing with several other people, leaving the bathroom door open isn't probably an option. But, considering you can hear the ocean from your unit, and are literally walking distance to the beach ( and we scheduled this trip, in July, two weeks prior to going, and usually you have to book a year in advance for Ocean Shores) and the price was VERY reasonable, and their customer service was great to deal with, those few issues were minor. So, for the price and location, yes I recommend. It's not a 5 star resort, but a cozy little retreat for a beach get away.

I stayed at the Tidal House for one night while visiting Ocean Shores for my birthday. Overall, the…read morestay was just okay. The atmosphere had a subtle coziness, but the Airbnb photos made it look much more updated, renovated, and inviting than it actually was. When we arrived, it was clear the chalet was dated. For the price per night, we expected more. Right away we noticed cobwebs on the walls and ceilings, heavy dust throughout, and even dust bunnies under the main bed. The fridge was also incredibly loud--sounding like a jet engine switching on and off all night. Other issues stood out: * Towels were limited, and the ones provided had hair in them. * The bathroom faucet's water pressure sprayed everywhere, forcing us to use our already-limited towels just to clean up. * The blinds couldn't be pulled open because of old, crusted bird droppings on the outside. We understand this is the ocean, but these clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. * The mattresses were by far the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on--making it difficult to get any real rest. What made things more frustrating was their very strict check-in and check-out policy, which they explained was due to their cleaning crew's schedule. Normally, that would make sense, but given the lack of cleanliness we experienced, it made their "no exceptions" stance confusing. That being said, I did appreciate a few things. They were upfront in the listing about the steps leading up to the second floor, and they weren't exaggerating--they really are steep, so it was good to know ahead of time. I also appreciated some of the amenities inside the chalet, which made parts of the stay more comfortable. The chalet itself has good bones and could be a great place with better upkeep--thorough cleaning, fresher linens, updated mattresses, and a little extra care inside and out. As it stands, though, it doesn't live up to its price point. I'd be hesitant to recommend this spot without those updates and at this point would suggest checking out other options in Ocean Shores first.

My husband, our two kids, my sister in law and her son stayed at Beach Gem for a few days in July…read more The check in office isn't very clearly marked, but using gps it was easy to find. The check in woman was very nice and made the process last less than five minutes. The actual beach house was about a five minute drive away in a quiet little neighborhood by the beach. The house itself is beautiful inside! I was a little disappointed there was no garage opener for us to use to drive in the garage, but I guess we could have had someone open it for us to drive in. The driveway was big enough for two cars anyway, so it wasn't really an issue. Dislikes: Only four trash bags for the kitchen trash. We borrowed bags from the bathroom trash when we ran out. The sliding door in the kids' room didn't seem to have a child safety lock, which made me worry they would sneak out and go to the water by themselves. It was pretty heavy though, and they never did sneak out. The TV was supposed to have Netflix, but we could never get it to work (and my husband does tech for a living) There were only two hangars per closet and zero dressers. I had to leave my clothes in my bag, which left everything cluttered. The recliners don't work in the living room. The bedroom patio doors desperately need blackout curtains. The blinds let so much light in that I woke up at 6am...on vacation. The kitchen has a menagerie of pans, but if you're cooking something that needs a specific tool, be safe and bring what you need. Positives: The kitchen is gorgeous! They have kid's plates and cups, a great pantry, and both a Keurig and traditional coffee maker. There were two adult bikes (one girl, one boy) in the garage, as well as some sand toys and kites, and a charcoal and gas grill. The views are beautiful. I could have spent the while weekend sitting on the balcony in the adirondak chair watching the waves and the boats. The deer in Ocean Shores are like squirrels everywhere else; driving to town we saw probably ten, and one morning I watched a doe with her fawn casually walk down the trail right to our patio. There is a hose outside the downstairs queen bedroom for hosing off sand. In total, I loved our time at Beach Gem. I would definitely return.

It makes it easy to be on vaycay even if the weather refuses to cooperate! Did I mention the location? Walking distance to town and the ocean. Close to everything. The only downfall is the walls, which are paper-thin. We stayed at Route 66; it was a theme house with a garage full of vintage restored cars, and a ton of Coke memorabilia. The hot tub was indoors, which made it steamy and musty in the house, but ultra convenient for all-hours soaking. The service was excellent. We were given appropriate instructions and expectations regarding the house. When I locked myself out of my bedroom, my frustration was greeted with prompt assistance and a smile. Even little things that we found around the house that required maintenence were taken in stride; they simply requested that we provide them with a list of items that we noticed. 1 thing to mention: make sure you ask about the amenities and availabilities in the house you choose. I was really glad that I called prior to my visit to know that we were not going to be supplied with laundry soap and certain kitchen items that I required. Also, there was a lack of toilet paper and paper towels even though I had said we would have a party of 8 people. These are not things that they have on their website, so make sure you ask before assuming anything. I love their website too. Great pics of places so you can choose the one that suits you best!
