I just returned from four nights at the Polynesian and had a wonderful stay. I'm not sure if it's under new management, but my room was spotless! I had deer visit every night and every morning. The weather was perfect, and I love having the beach trail right out the back door it makes for such an easy, peaceful getaway. I cooked dinner in the fully functional kitchen two nights and enjoyed Bennetts Fish Shack and Dugans Pizza the other evenings. It was the perfect mix of relaxing in and going out. The size of the condo had to of been over 600ft, it was huge! I was surprised there were not more people at the Ocean being such a short drive from Oly, Lacey & Tumwater. Truly a peaceful stay, and I can't wait to come back. read more

Though the 2 bedroom was spacious it is incredibly outdated. Both TV's turned off cable at exactly midnight making our entertainment experience end abruptly. There was approximately 2 full minutes of hot water, making it impossible for my family to properly bathe. The Adult Only swim times were not enforced and there was never an opportunity to swim or enjoy the hot tub without children screeching. The arcade had a handful of games out of order too. When I brought up concerns to the desk clerk she dismissed me and acted indifferent. read more

We stayed at the Polynesian for a small overnight trip to Ocean Shores this past weekend and had a decent stay. I was a little nervous to book given the reviews, but the room we got was at a crazy good price so we went for it! We spent the day at the beach and showed up around 4:45 (45 minutes past check in time) to be told that our room wasn't ready yet... Front desk woman was apologetic and said they'd give us a call when it was ready. Still didn't end up being ready til almost 6pm which was really irritating with 3 tired kids. We got a one bedroom suite that had a full kitchen, two queen beds, and a living room with a fireplace and balcony. It honestly was a good setup for less than $200. The bedroom was a good size and the beds were comfy. Kitchen was stocked with basic essentials which was appreciated since we had planned to make dinner in our room. We were excited for the fireplace but it turns out they're just for show! They're wood burning so I'm sure they don't want to deal with the mess which makes sense, but don't look forward to it like I did. The pool and hot tub space was a good size but oh my GOSH. The pool isn't heated at ALL. My kids normally don't care about temperatures for swimming but this was even too cold for them which is insane. They enjoyed the hot tub though. Overall it was an okay stay but The Grey Gull remains my favorite place to stay in Ocean Shores! read more

Don't trust the reviews on the Internet. They clearly have someone cleaning up the reviews. This hotel was dirty and after they cleaned our room once they didn't give us any towels. There are reviews you read on the Internet saying the restaurant that's right here is really really good. it's not even open and has been closed for quite a while and the review shows that it was done a week ago. They are paying someone to clean up their bad reviews. Their furniture is outdated and worn out. The bathroom was filthy when we got here. The worst motel experience ever last year, new ownership and a serious lack of any real business skills. A nightmare in every respect, and they even drug out the credit card dispute we ended up having. Inept staff, dangerous conditions (balconies screwed shut because of being unsafe), the list could just go on and on. Go anywhere else in Ocean Shores besides here. This place is a total mess. We paid almost $500.00 for 2 nights and it was worth nowhere near this. Here is why: 1. They advertise free breakfast on their website, that is not true and they need to update their website. 2. The toilet was dirty and super low to the ground. When I mentioned this to the guy at the desk, he said it was a handicapped unit. Ummm what? 3. The carpet was disgusting. Stains everywhere. 4. The coffee maker was dirty and the grounds in the filter were left and there was mold growing. Crazy gross! 5. There was a wad of hair in the drain in the tub. 6. TVs so tiny and screens covered with fingerprints. 7. The phone didn't work. No dial tone and it was plugged in. 8. Mirrors has spattered of who knows what on them. 9. Floors were not mopped. I used a wet paper towel and disgusting. All outlets loose and so trying to charge your phone was crazy challenging. 10. Beat up early 80's furniture. Kitchen table chairs way too low for the height of the table. Chair was broken I could say more but I think you get my point. We paid $100 for two dogs for two nights. Our dogs didn't do a thing yet they charge a $50 cleaning fee. They can enjoy ripping off their customers but they had but one opportunity. We will not return here again. We had stayed here many times over the years. This place has turned in to a complete shithole. read more

Honestly, we purchased our stay through Expedia and the reviews on that website showed around 4 stars. It is a pet friendly hotel, so I naturally didn't expect the most clean rooms but we were very disappointed in almost everything there. I don't know why they call it a Resort... but the best thing about this place is that there is a restaurant right beside it that's really good and actually looks like a nice place to eat. They were nice enough to allow us to have our first dog in there for free (closer to a rat size dog), but we had a feeling the staff was annoyed with that. The pool and hot tub is opened until midnight for adults, but when we arrived downstairs, they had already closed it due to it being filthy with dead skin and etc. That's great they closed it - but what in the world kind of pool is back there that it's that filthy ? Let's get to the best part. The MOLD. Bathroom doesn't have proper ventilation, so mold is growing. We also do not think that the coffee maker was cleaned properly - because when we drank the coffee we tasted a bitter/moldy taste that we quickly dumped out. And to top it all off, 4 of us had sore throats and were sick for a few days after our stay. We are assuming due to mold and dirtiness of hotel. read more

We booked a last minute stay here, and was upgraded to a one bedroom king suite because they double booked. Score! Check in was easy, the kitschy resort decor is entertaining. We didn't have high expectations, since it's a 2 star hotel. The room was pretty clean though, and it had all the basics that we needed. It felt like. Sing at my grandparents condo in Lake Chelan. It's outdated, but has all tbt minimum items you would need. My only big issue is that it looks like the kitchen ceiling had mold and had black spots. Definitely wish that that at least would be updated. If you stay there, I recommend bringing your own creamer for the coffee. The powder one in the room was terrible. The toilet paper is really stiff also. For a last minute weekend away, it did the trick though for 2 nights. Nicer than I thought it would be. read more

When I arrive at any hotel, the first thing I check is the bed, with a flashlight, to look for bed bugs. This time, I was greeted with what were very obviously USED SHEETS. There were head hairs, body hairs, and sand, and the sheets on both beds were wrinkled from a body that had clearly slept there. There was even a butt indent. The spare pillows in the closet were also used, and absolutely covered with sand and dirt. The rug was beyond filthy and stained. Truly revolting. There were crumbs and pieces of chips all over the floor and rug, so it hadn't even been VACUUMED. They couldn't even do that much. There was also food debris and chips in the couch and hide-a-bed. There was also a clump of hair on the hide-a-bed blanket. The toilet was disgusting. The side of the fridge was absolutely covered with brown splotches of whose knows what. There were splotchy brown stains on the kitchen floor, so it hadn't been mopped. I called the front desk to complain, and they sent someone over. They were "surprised" that the room hadn't been cleaned. They mumbled something about how they were going to have had the carpets cleaned "today" but the room had been occupied until now so they couldn't. I won't go into all the details but they eventually switched us into a different room; however, the entire ordeal and the waiting around and the switching of rooms took at least 2-1/2 extra hours, which was 2-1/2 hours less vacation we had, on our first day there. We didn't really get settled in until after 6:30 p.m. The new room they moved us to had hardwood floors, which was better than the absolutely manky carpet in the other room, but I saw that those had not been swept or mopped either, as there was more food debris and junk all over. The bathroom floor and base molding, and bathroom cabinets, were just grotesque, although this can be chalked up to "wear and tear." (About time they repaired and repainted, then, huh?) It was just foul. At the end of our vacation, upon checking out, there was a very unpleasant front desk woman whose name I believe was Diania. I was asking a question about the man I thought was the manager, but I couldn't remember his name and I said it was "something like Josh." She stared at me silently. Seriously just stared at me. I asked again what the manager's name was, and she said that the MANAGER (placing sarcastic emphasis on the word manager) was a woman named so and so. I said "ok, then, no, I guess he wasn't the manager. He's the guy who was here in the afternoons and evenings all the time." I asked Diania, "Can you just tell me the possible name of the guy that works here and I'll tell you if that's the one I'm talking about?" She literally did not speak to me, and just stared at me with this bizarre snide expression and gave me this slow shrug and as if to say "sorry that's classified information." I was absolutely baffled by this behavior. I asked her again what his name was, and she once again repeated, being intentionally obtuse, that the MANAGER was a woman named so and so. I said "You can't tell me the guy's name?" And she stared at me again with these big blank eyes, silent, and simply shrugged. Not as if she didn't know what his name was, as if she literally WOULDN'T TELL ME. I said "I can describe him but it won't be very polite." She gave me a blank stare. I said "ok, he's a chubby guy, bald, glasses." She said "yes that's Josh." Why she treated it like top secret I don't know. But she gave me the dumbest deer in the headlights look and had just literally refused to tell me. Truly bizarre. Anyway, I'm glad we brought Lysol spray and Clorox wipes, because we cleaned that place top to bottom, except for the extreme shabbiness that we could not fix. (Us cleaning our room took another half hour of our time.) They should pay me instead of their cleaning staff, who like to reuse sheets and blankets and pillows and literally not clean anything, just giving it a once over with their eyeballs, thinking "this is good enough, they'll never know." The whole thing was a s***show, but to reuse guest bedding is truly the lowest of the low. Despicable. We just stayed here over the weekend and Unfortunately I would not give it a good review. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment and although it is very spacious it is very very old and the carpet is absolutely disgusting. We walked in to the worst musty smell and had to go get candles just to be able to stay here. Our socks were dark brown after walking on the carpet the very first night! There was a dirty bed cover and sheet left on the couch. The screen door kept falling off the slider. I got a peak into one of the remodeled/updated apartment and they do look nicer. This place is not worth paying $500 for two nights. read more

They ruined our anniversary trip to Ocean Shores! We got to the hotel around 1am and checked in. Within 20 minutes we were too mortified to stay the night. The room was filthy and the bathroom was covered in black mold! There was a funky smell, the kitchen was dirty, the floor had food scraps on it. The carpets looked like they had never been cleaned in a decade and had stains everywhere. We called the front desk and they said the best they can do is have someone come in the next day to clean. We asked if they had any other rooms available and they said no, even though online it said they did. The room was just utterly revolting and we did not want to stay in this health hazard. Thankfully we found a much nicer place to stay the night but there was nothing else available the next night that would accommodate our dog. Due to this we had to leave our anniversary trip early and head home the next day. The supervisor said they will refund us and I hope they keep their word! read more

The location is ideal for razor clamming, they have a rinky dink clam cleaning station behind the hotel. I booked this place out two weeks in advance. I wish I had done my research based on reviews on Yelp, and not on Google. Based on the price, 99 dollars (military discount included) is not a bad price based on the location. But because it was so close to the beach, I was expecting new appliances, not old box tv's, and at least semi modern bed sheets and covers. Not a chance. The room smelled old, and stale. It was spacious though, enough to sleep four people. I don't generally give out one stars, but we ran out of hot water the second person in. So the last two people waited until the morning to shower. Plus, one of the attendees at the front desk was a bit sour, and could not give out information on low tide, especially if there is a clock behind the front desk reserved for tides. But beware it is inaccurate, follow the website that is reserved for clamming. I am sure if there was remodeling done, and a better hospitality training with the staff, this place could be amazing. P.S. There is nothing Polynesian like about the place, and I would not readily call this a resort. read more

When we arrived it looked like the kitchen floor wasn't mopped. The sheets in one of the bedrooms were not changed. Sinks in bathrooms were clogged including tub. We found dog treats underneath the floor lamp and chair. For what we paid at $800 for 3 nights we definitely expect the room to be sanitized and cleaned. Not staying here again. read more

The biggest draw to the Polynesian is it is dog friendly. Outside you will find a dedicated dog walk area for doggy bathroom breaks. The walking area includes poop bag stations and outdoor shower heads to help rinse off the ocean. The rooms are large compared to other cheap hotel chains like Best Western or Quality Inn. Rooms include a full refrigerator, oven, dishwasher plates, cups and utensils. All of the rooms I have stayed in have also had a separate bedroom and living room. This helps my family save money by making our own food and helps promote normal bedtimes. The bathrooms are small, and the cleaning staff could do a better job. I have found dirty dishes in the sink, partially eaten in food in the refrigerator and candy wrappers on the carpet in the middle of the floor. Overall though, these little frustrations do not impact our stays enough not to recommend this hotel. If you are traveling with a dog or a growing family and need a kitchen this is a great place to stay. -1 Star for problems with cleanliness read more

PET FRIENDLY made this a 3 Star review. Imagine a 1991 room. I thought it was funny but my husband wasn't as positive. Loud neighbors were a bit of an issue. It's like the River Dance on the floor above and the people to your sides LOVE to open and close their front doors. About 30 times per minute. I'm not even sure where they would be going that frequently. TV was easy to use. Toilet had good pressure. Kitchen unit was mostly stocked. Good walk ability. I haven't experienced this bad of customer service in a long time. McKenzie was so incredibly rude. I walked in and said "hi there, I'm here to check in" and she was rude from the get go. We also weren't told the pool wasn't working so we found that out after the fact. I was overcharged 2 times and had to dig to get any information. I was originally told, basically I don't have answers as to why. Seriously! You can't tell me why I was over charged and to just deal with it. Horrible management all around. Doug was sweet and helpful, but at this point we have a bad taste in our mouth. I'll mention we owned a condo here for 25 years about 15 years ago. Totally different place! The place is rundown with bad customer service. Coincidentally we met a couple at the Shilo Inn that agreed. They usually stay here, but decided to try somewhere new because of a bad experience. McKenzie really ruined it for us. Too bad. A smile and better tone would go along way. read more

2:54 pm Saturday 6/12/202. Hotel/resort was clean and dog friendly BUT BIG BUT no air-conditioning I was told no rooms have air-conditioning what??? First nite was warm they gave us a dirty fan . Then morning comes time to take showers no hot water Whattt???? We ask the front desk few times to have it checked and fixed so we can take a full shower without freezing. Came back from beach dirty and sandy needs shower probably have little over 2 minutes of hot water. Told front desk lady said she'll have maintenance check it few hours passed no maintenance. I am very unhappy with the experience and how they handle things at this establishment. Sad part we have one more night to overcome. This place is awefull. If I could give negative stars I would. Room wasn't ready on time. They said they used a sanitation fogger. I watch maids today. I didn't see one at all. I'm so glad I brought my own sanitizer spray. I now feel vulnerable in this Covid pandemic where I have been so careful. The carpet is filthy with dog stains. The beds are uncomfortable. They don't fold the comforter cover in a way that protects you from the comforter. I sprayed the bed with sanitizer and slept on top of the covers. Maids are cleaning rooms with out masks. The front desk is unhelpful. The laundry people were not wearing masks and playing their music so loud we could hear it in our room after a 4 mile walk. We just wanted to relax. I didn't want to go ask employees to turn down their music! Sheesh! The barbecues are so absolutely disgusting you can't use them! There is dog poop every where! (I should have taken a picture of that) I'm not usually a complainer. You just sleep in your room and are outside having fun during the day. Right? I didn't want to come back to this filthy loud disgusting place. I woke up this morning and I have to edit my post. BEWARE! For $600 per night in the Penthouse, our stove exploded, the doors and windows were locked as the balconies were unsafe, the TV didn't work, the floors were sticky, the carpets were heavily stained, and the windows were so dirty, we cleaned some of them so we see the view. The maintenance crew replaced one of the front burners as it would not work. The repair was faulty as the next day when my daughter started breakfast, the stove exploded multiple times shooting out hot metal and fireballs multiple times near her face, trapping my terrified daughter in the corner of the kitchen. We ran around the unit to find there were no fire extinguishers in the room, no sprinkler system and the breaker box was inaccessible and locked. The fire or smoke alarms never went off. The owner's cheap and meaningless response was multiple "we're sorry" and deducted one third of the costs our 5 day stay. We wrote the Ocean Shores Fire Chief Brian Ritter about the incident with no response. We have been staying yearly at the Polynesian Resort for over 40 years as the owners let the room quality and standards decline. This last visit we felt we were not safe in this hotel. Save your money and find somewhere else to stay to enjoy the ocean and the view. read more

The couch was extremely uncomfortable, it is just old and needs to be replaced. The beds were also very uncomfortable. We woke up sore and exhausted. The hotel could be great, but it's just time for the furnishings to be upgraded. We got takeout dinner from the on-site restaurant, and it was good and well priced. DO NOT STAY HERE. They do not value your safety. We were laying in bed when a man in the room next to ours climbed over onto our balcony and was looking in our bedroom window. My husband saw the outline of his entire face. First off the balconies weren't supposed to be used due to safety issues that we were unaware of prior to checking in, but all the doors were supposed to be only able to opened approximately 4" per the person on duty when we checked in. This person said he was getting his dog that had gotten onto our balcony. I don't believe this. You don't need to peer into someone else's room if you are only getting your dog. We would not have been able to see him if he wasn't intentionally at the rail looking in. The person on duty did nothing but tell them not to use the balcony. They did not re-secure the slider door, they did not ask them to leave, they did not call the police. We left at 10:30 at night to drive 2 1/2 hours home as we no longer felt safe staying there. They gave us a $31 discount for this. THIRTY ONE DOLLARS. That's apparently what they think peace of mind and safety is worth. I guarantee it would be a different story if it was a family member of theirs. Only giving one star cause I can't give zero. read more

Finally checked in at 4:10 p.m and they were so apologetic, saying if your regular manager were here, this would have never happened. Your room was never cleaned because we were told the party canceled the restervatioreservation. So I email the General Manager of the place and still have not gotten a response. The lady at the front desk at check in was helping a man who needed a card key. The lady said Angela does that, it's broken and she left without fixing it. So she went up to his room to let him in. While she was gone another lady vame down and said was she helping you and I said I'm checking in. She then ignored me. The other lady came back ,& scolded her for not helping me . I prepaid my room but had to allow a $60 deposit. They said on the phone I couldn't bring my dogs. She asked if I had any pets. I said you told me at booking I couldn't. This used to be our go to place in Ocean Shores. Sadly it has seen its day. Pool ice cold. Been broken for months. They keep waiting for a part to fix the heater that never comes. Breakfast used to be included. Nothing now. Covid was the excuse and I was told they are trying to figure out how to bring breakfast back. Lies. They will not offer any breakfast ever again. Old units with stained carpets and old dirty furnishings. This used to be charming in a vintage way, but our last 2 stays proved the couch too uncomfortable and dirty to even sit on. Hotel is loud, loud, loud. They used to have dog treats for the pup. No more. One log per night to burn in the fire place, now it's one log per stay. In the past I have stayed here many, many times with no problem. I booked a room for our first anniversary in February. To our dismay, we had a huge snowstorm and could not leave Seattle. We cancelled with plenty of notice, but, we were still billed for our stay and the pet fee. I've tried to resolve this, but, the manager is not responding.... We arrived to find the room we reserved to be small and the kitchenette didn't meet our needs so we asked to upgrade. They were accommodating but we couldn't upgrade until the next day because they were booked up. The king suite we upgraded to was a one bedroom apartment type room with a full kitchen and a balcony. We were happy with the room. The pool area could use some more attention. The water was murky. The game room has a pool table and some old school video games and pinball machines. I read some of the other reviews about bedbugs, but I didn't have that experience. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. This was our first time visiting Ocean Shores WA. We booked this room because of the kitchenette which was convenient for my husband and I and our three children. There is no heated pool and the hot tub at times was Luke warm. Some of the game room games did not work. The beach is not as close to the resort as advertised. Be prepared to walk 15-20 minutes to the beach. Some staff did not have the best hospitality. Once we were checking out we felt rushed check out due to another booking after our departure. read more
