Being from Detroit, I've grown up eating a plethora of Mediterranean food options. May the only the best survive. With the strong ratings, my expectations were high. I had a lunch carryout with the staple chicken shawarma, falafel pita, and lentil soup.The price was great ($4/sandwich), but it tasted plain.The chicken shawarma was packed with chicken, but lacked the full amount of toppings. It was stuffed with chicken, and had some yogurt sauce and a couple pickled veggies. The chicken was overdone and slightly dry. Same with a falafel. If you're looking for an introductory meal into Mediterranean and hesitant of exotic ingredients, this could be the spot for you. read more

Absolutely bussin'. My partner and I ordered the chicken kabob entree and the hummus chicken shwarma appetizer- which were both delicious and more than enough to share. Falafel and lentil soup lacked flavor - both were very bland and you can taste any spices that you would expect to taste when ordering Mediterranean cuisine. Chicken shawarma sandwich was not actually shawarma - rather, it tasted like grilled chicken tenders that also lacked flavor from a lack of seasoning. Also, the sandwich was dry despite having some sauce and pickles. If you're craving Mediterranean food, this is not the best place to fulfill that craving. read more

Those were some delicious Kabobs! The portions were generous, the flavors made my mouth sing and the Baklava was served warm. I can't wait to go back! There are chicken and fries for kids who won't cooperate. You can also get a Pita-wich or salad for a lighter option. I had the Chicken Kabob which came with a starter Fattoush salad, rice, garlic pickle slices, Garlic sauce, Hummus and a thin Pita bread. For drink I tried the Arabic Tea. The tea is very strong and a little bitter. Not bad, I just usually choose a more mild tea. The space itself was on the smaller side but comfortable booth & chair seating. I went to oasis on a Friday night at 8:00pm. Was looking for some Mediterranean food and decided I'd go here. It was pretty hot inside but later found out the AC had broken down. Once we started eating it was getting to hot for me but I find this forgivable, I'm sure it was just a short term incident. First the service was great. They bring everything out at the right time, no rush. The salad was great, I could have honestly filled up on it alone(note: my picture was after I ate about half of it). The portions here are more than generous and I mean that. My friend ordered the chicken kabob and I went out on a limb and tried the chicken shawarma. It may have just been because the end of the night but the chicken shawarma was pretty plain and fairly dry whereas my company's kabob looked pretty The amount of rice you get with your dish is enough to feed a small family. It lasted me two more meals from what I took home. Everything seems very fresh and the presentation is what you expect. The garlic sauce is like a frothed whipped cream and not heavy at all but very efficient in delivering you the right amount of taste you need for anything. Overall this place is great and I would love to come back. The salad alone is worth coming back for. The food tasted like genuine authentic Mediterranean food, unlike some recent knock offs that have popped up in the area. You definitely get your money's worth in portions from this restaurant. I would highly recommend to any of my friends to give this place a shot. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

This Mediterranean restaurant punches way above it's weight. We had a party of four go there for dinner on a Thursday night. There were a few folks there, but it wasn't exceptionally busy. The food is excellent, particularly for the price point. Portions are generous, the server we had was quite kind, and was able to work with us around a food allergy. Will absolutely be coming back. Recommendations: If you have two people, go for the Oasis Sampler (the garlic emulsion it comes with is so so good). Check out the baba ganoush, the Mint Iced Tea, and if you like falafel, theirs is on point. read more

It was delicious!!!!!! The plater comes with salad or soup, pita bread and hummus (the plater had a small amount of pickles and purple relish). The beef and the chicken was just perfect. I love Mediterranean food and had been intending to try Oasis for a while. I finally did (via Door Dash) this week, and the food ranged from fine to good, which means there are several better options in Lexington. The chicken kabab with garlic and pickles rolled up in a thin pita was my favorite item. It's very simple and might not be enough for a meal for many people (it's literally just the ingredients mentioned), but it was very flavorful. Their hummus was pretty bland and the pita that came with it was some torn and smushed pieces in the plastic packaging of wherever they buy it from, which wasn't appealing. The chicken shawarma was pretty good! The garlic whip/sauce is also good, but I paid for a side item container of it, and the little container was only half full. Since they charge for it (many of the other Mediterranean restaurants in town include it with entrees), I was surprised to receive such a small amount. All in all, nothing is particularly bad, but with so many better options (most of which are also more affordable), Oasis isn't high on my list of recommendations. read more

I would suggest to NOT eat here. I wish I could leave a minus 100 for a rating. I absolutely hate leaving negative ratings. But this one is more than justified. It is not only that they took our money but this is also a health hazard. So here is what happen. Yesterday my friend and I stopped in for lunch. The mixed appetizer platters (what we had eaten of it) was quite yummy. Then our main courses came and about 4 bites in my friend says, rather frantically "oh gosh I just saw a bug" well I am thinking a fly, which is icky but okay, (I lived in Europe for 30 years) in very small towns in the country so sadly flies are par for the course. Thus I try not to make a big deal of it, then she says in an even more disgusted way, there it is, now I am sitting across from her and at that moment when she said there it is, I spot it, as she is saying is that a roach!!!!! And to our utter disbelief it was. Needless to say we both stop eating, and are just sitting there in shock. We are waiting for our young 20 something year old waiter to come over and check on us but he never does, so my friend goes up to the counter and tells him we just had a roach try and join us for lunch. He comes over to the table and thank goodness the roach makes it's 3rd appearance, so the waiter clearly sees it. Then here is the kicker, he says, "oh I'm sorry'' and just looks at us like, what? So there is a bit of a friendly exchange, no voices raised or anything like that where he keeps saying I'm sorry, and ultimately he asked us did we want to move to another table and at some point said, "so you don't want to finish your food?" like he was actually shocked. Needless to say we do not want to pay for the food that was barely eaten, (we had not even eaten half of the appetizer plate yet). So then he says well wait a minute, and goes in to the kitchen area and I see him on the phone, he comes back out and says I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do, I spoke to my brother, (whom I assume is the actual owner) and the brothers response, was "they still have to pay for the food". The young waiter, then said he would give us a discount. However when we went up to the counter just moments later to pay he quickly forgot about the discount and charged us full price. I am 61 years old and unfortunately I was not up for a big scene so we just paid and left. After this long explanation my point is, if there are roaches in the dinning area can you imagine what the kitchen is like. Now a reminder that I am sure you all know, but still, roaches carry a multitude of diseases and are simply filthy little creatures. Thus eating here, is literally putting you health at risk. read more

Absolutely the best Mediterranean food in town. Oasis is one of the very first restaurants that I visited when I first moved to Lexington over 17 years ago and i am so happy to say that it hasn't changed a bit in the ways that matter. This isn't some smoothed over commercialized version of food like very the popular mainstream Mediterranean options in town. The food is like you might expect to have lovingly prepared as a guest in a family kitchen. It's a fairly modest establishment in appearance but very welcoming with its own charm. The staff is excellent and very attentive. Get the buffet. So many great dishes in one great spread. Can't imagine a more healthy cuisine. I eat here at least once a week and I'm pretty certain it's added years to my life. Shhhh ... Please don't tell too many people. This place is a hidden gem. read more

Not sure why the negative reviews. This place definitely hit the spot. Katoush salad so good. Some of the best falafels which went great with the tabouli (sorry for my spelling) and hummus. Chicken kabobs were delicious and cooked (charred ) to my liking, could use a bit more veggies on them (loved the carrots on them, just wish there were a few more). I'm very critical when it comes to baklava but this was truly the best I have had in Lexington- it was served warm which you don't see to often. Service good, portions huge. A little disappointed in lentil soup- possibly too much cumin. And I do agree with the other review that the. Pita came out cold and was very underwhelming but overall this place exceeded our expectations and will be our go to place. read more

My daughter and I decided to have the Oasis Platter because of the variety. The waiter tried to convince me that it was too much food for the two of us but there wasn't anything smaller with that variety. We had the choice to start with a salad or lentil soup along with the hummus and pita bread, we chose the salad which only came with a very good vinaigrette dressing. The beef in the platter was a bit tough but maybe that's the way it's supposed to be. Next time I'll stick with all chicken. The Kafta skewer (ground beef and lamb is what the waiter said that it was made of) and the grape leaves weren't my cup of tea...we've only had Mediterranean one other time and that was a few years ago...so this was a "different" experience for us...in a good way though. I thought it would a healthy choice but our favorites were fried...the falafels (mashed spiced fava beans and chickpeas) and the kibbies both were fried to a golden brown and they were excellent. The rice was great and I usually don't like rice. We got there at about 6 on a Thursday and beat the crowd because when we left at around 7 and I think they were full to capacity. A lot of people were coming to pickup their carry out orders as well. Our waiter was a bit slow which is the mean reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I'll come back though. read more

Easily the best Mediterranean food I've had all year. My boyfriend and I shared the Oasis Platter ($25.95) and it was a delicious mix of meats and I love their garlic sauce. My date doesn't really like hummus but enjoyed their version and the lentil soup. I've had better hummus elsewhere but everything else made up for it. My only complaint is they're only open until 9pm even on the weekends but apparently this is a reoccurring theme for most locally owned establishments in Lexington. If you're in the area, Oasis is an awesome lunch buffet spot. First of all, if it's hot out get the iced tea. They have two kinds: clove and mint. I prefer the clove, but they are both delicious. Skip the menu, and get the buffet. The highlight is the soup. It's lentil-based and really delicious. There are a couple of meat dishes, but the bulk of the buffet is vegetarian. So good news if you're a vegetarian looking for a good place to eat out. The tomato and cucumber salad is extremely fresh, and the falafels are just a little spicy. The decor is not fancy - paper napkins and plastic cups, but they play fun Arabic pop music and the wait staff are polite and helpful. read more

Thank you Yelp for clueing me in to this very excellent Mediterranean fare in the most unlikely of places - a strip mall in the middle of Lexington. Buffet style at lunch - take a small sample of everything and save room - you will be going back for seconds.
