We have been here several times and have not been disappointed. The food is so delicious and fresh. We like to order the kebab platter for 3 and take home the leftovers. When the platter is brought to the table, it looks like it came out of a magazine, so colorful and plated nicely. There are so many different flavors on the platter that anyone can cater to their own taste. In addition, the woman that works at the front counter is always so nice and welcoming. And she is so patient with me and any questions that I have. I look forward to seeing her there when I come in! Mr. Shawarma is a welcomed change to the usual cuisine that I eat. The weather was beautiful today so we decided to take a drive out to Nicholasville. I love mediterranean/middle eastern food so I was happy to see Mr. Shawarma while driving through downtown Nicholasville. Mr. Shawarma is located on Main Street of Nicholasville, nestled across the street from the Nicholasville Christian church and the fire station. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted with kind smiles and warm service. The service was great! The staff were very friendly explaining the options. I ordered the beef shawarma with rice, hummus and pickled vegetables, for my son chicken Tenders (2 piece) and fries and for my Mom, lamb kabob with rice and pickled vegetables. After hearing/reading a lot about their opening (on Facebook), I finally made my way down there today... on a Friday, around 12:30pm. It's a typical storefront but with a decent seating inside. When I went, there were 4 tables occupied, who were all eating at that time. During my time there 3 take away orders were also picked up. Let's talk about the food. We ordered and rated: My order: - Beef kebab wrap: 5/5!!!!! AWESOME - Babaghanoosh: 1/5... very disappointing. Tasteless and with under cooked/roasted eggplant, full of olive oil. - Vimto: 1/5... totally lacking carbonation! I was told that "we make our own at the back." Well, I'd appreciate the can .. this was just a sickly sweet concoction, with more ice in the glass than beverage. Friend's order: - Chicken wrap: 3.5/5 Not bad - Hummus either meat: 1/5.., pretty bland hummus and even blander meat pieces thrown on it. - Lemon mint drink: 4/5 Experience: My friend and I ordered and then sat waiting. Drinks were brought within 5 mins. Food followed in the next 8 mins. But our apps came without the pita bread. I had to ask for it twice before it was delivered to the table.... 28 mins AFTER we started eating, and by that time we were done with our entrees, with the apps sitting untouched. On my asking again, I was told that the lady at the back was busy making drinks for a table and she'll get to it when she gets to it. The funny thing is, when the bread was finally brought out, it was straight out of a pack and not even warmed up. So I'm not sure what the fuss was about ‍ The bread was delivered by the head chef himself, who I assume is the owner. And he did apologize for the delay. Portions are good.. not that huge so don't expect to bring home leftovers. Pricing is very reasonable. Though friendly, service needs to be made better. read more

We ordered the Family meal and asked them to make it for all 4 meats so we could try them all. The food was amazing and it was ended up lasting us for two dinners for 3 people not one. Will definitely be back and this place will likely be our go to spot for dinner take out! Highly recommend! read more

Was traveling through the area after dropping my kid off at camp nearby. Really wanted Mediterranean food and was too hungry to wait to get to Lexington. I should have waited. I got a chicken shawarma platter to go. Ordered it online via Yelp, and the restaurant never confirmed they received it. Then magically 25 minutes later it said my meal was ready. Uh, ok. That was a little confusing but it was fine. Went in to pick it up and was met by a girl at the register who looked at me and said nothing. Again...uh, ok. Told her I had ordered online. She still said nothing to me, just turned around and asked the guy at the grill, who pointed her to my order. She picked it up, handed it to me, and still never said a word. Not exactly friendly service, but whatever. I took it to the car, opened it up and noticed it was all cold. Not ideal, as the chicken and rice were surely supposed to be warm. The hummus and pickled vegetables were also room temp, which was fine. I dug in to the hummus and pita right away, and I have to say, that was delicious. Could have made a meal just of a huge portion of this; unfortunately I had just the small part of a divided styrofoam container, but it was still the star of the show by far. The chicken was dry and overcooked and cool. The rice was flavorful but also cool. The pickled vegetables were nice, but it was sort of like putting lipstick on a lukewarm pig. And the sauce? It was mayonnaise. So if you're looking for tzatziki or tahini or anything remotely authentic... well, you're in the wrong place. Keep on trucking to Lexington, where there surely is better. Usually Yelpers lead me right, but this one was a huge miss. read more

My fiancé and I went to dinner here last week. I got the chicken and rice plate. We had to wait and there was only 1 other table there. The food wasn't hot and the plate was half hummus with vegetables. It wasn't good at all. It didn't taste fresh and not hot at all. The service was terrible too. No one ever came over to see if we needed anything. It was like everyone left- no one even behind the counter. Also I asked for sauce to go for my fiancé and I was handed a lid and a tiny container. Sadly we can't recommend this new business. We went twice hoping that the first time was a bad night. Our to go order was inaccurate and they didn't offer to make it right when we returned a few days later to dine in. When told that we were given an item that was $4 cheaper than what we ordered they said' "yes, our system was messed up that night." Unfortunately the system is yet to be fixed. We had 4 people dine in and each order was dry and didn't have a lot of flavor. We had to go to counter twice to ask for items that were left off of the order. We love Mediterranean food and were excited to have an option in Nicholasville. The prices are higher than Lexington and the food is simply not good. I hope they figure things out! read more

Wife suggested we try out the new restaurant in Nicholasville. We both tried the chicken and beef shawarmas and found the flavor of the chicken was unparalleled. Great tasting and the prices are comparable to fast food outings. The owner and staff are very welcoming with Mr Shawarma coming around to our table to give us a sample of his wife's homemade baklava. Would definitely recommend anyone come give it a try.
