I switched to Oasis Energy at a rate of 5.88 cents/kwh last summer for a 3 month term last year. As that 3 month contract came to an end they sent me two emails about renewing, which I thought was great. So I locked in another 3 months at the same price. Then, as my rate ended at the end of November, I wasn't contacted at all, not an email, not a letter... nothing. Of course it was a busy time of year and I didn't notice as my next two bills shot up to 12.9 cents/kwh and then 15.9 cents/kwh. Not the easiest thing to catch at first when you're on a budget plan. So why wouldn't you contact me this time around to renew my contract? Why would you think it would be OK to charge 3 times the amount? read more

Jan- 3rd, I received my december electricity bill and it was 100 more than normal. Yes, we were running the Christmas lights- but that didn't quite makes sense. I called customer service at Oasis- apparently my rate increased at the end of Nov. According to customer service rep- they "tried contacting me via email and mail x2 in a very snippy tone. I check my email and mail DAILY, I even looked through my junk emails. . THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. I then asked for the going rate, which I was informed was for new customers only and that this is the "best your going to get". I don't normally write reviews, but when I opened my electric bill today, I was stunned by how much LESS I am now paying. I can't believe I didn't switch to Oasis Energy sooner. A few companies have came to my door here in Pittsburgh, and I was concerned it was a scam but it isn't!! I switched and saved a lot of money. Stay away! Same experience as many others - they hook you with an OK rate for 3 months (6.8c) then, hiked rates to 15c, plus a monthly charge. I have been trying to bail for three months, but there is some hangup in the paperwork. The negligible short term savings are NOT worth the hassle and money it will cost you - my usual bill is $90, I have been paying $130's, $140's for the last 3 months. This company bases their business on a scam of jacking up your rates after their promotional rate expires without letting you know. The customer service rep told me that they sent an email to me letting me know of the rate changing to variable, however, the email typically lands in a consumers spam folder as this is the first communication they receive from the company. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. THEY ACTUALLY OFFERED ME A $25 VISA gift card if I continued services with them as an apology for jacking up my rates and robbing my household of a few hundred dollars. 1) I signed up for a 3 month offer, and then they stated in that my term length is 24 months and will be expiring in October. 2) In that email they quote a rated of 7.59 cents, but my bill from PECO stated that they were charging me 8.99 cents. 3) Somehow I never got an email with my contract from them. 4) Every rate that is listed on PA Power Switch is lower than their quoted rate of 7.59 cents, so someone obviously messed up. EDIT: 1) I was notified in May that my 24 month contract with Great American Power was up in June, my rate would increase to 8.99 cents. 2) Oasis bought out Great American Power (my old provider) in June, allegedly I was notified via mail (that probably went right to my recycling). 3) In late June I requested via email to cancel my Great American Power account. 4) I requested to start a 3 month contract with Oasis with a rate around 4.5 cents. 5) I'm not sure what happened, but they neglected to cancel my account for GAP keeping my rate at 8.99 cents. Yet somehow, magically my contract end date became October (3 months after I requested service for a 3 month contract). TLDR They likely added a 3 new month contract but instead of giving me a lower rate; they kept the much higher one. 6) They sent me an email in July, stating my 24 month contract is up in October, despite my 24 month contract expiring in June. They quote a rate of 7.59 instead of 8.99, forcing them to give me a $25 gift card for quoting me a lower rate than they charged the past two months. 7) I am still pissed because my 3 month contract that I signed up for had a lower rate but I can't prove it. IMO they are more incompetent than evil, but definitely add a reminder when your contract is up, because then they will jack up your rates. (Every provider is guilty of this though) read more

Not happy with them. I was a customer and my term was up and due to a technical error my new contract didn't go thru. I didn't realize this until I got my next bill and it was double what it usually is. Tried cancelling my service at the end of my contract. Didn't go through, and they double my rate price, essentially doubling my bill. Called again to cancel and let them know of there error. They now insist I never reached out so there is nothing they can do but charge me double the rate of every other company. read more

Signed up for a two-year contract. Was never notified about the contract expiring. They began to charge me 2-3 times the current market rate plus they added a monthly service charge that was not part of the initial contract. Since I was on a monthly budget bill which averages over the course of a year, I had no idea until my budget reset showing a large underpayment during the year which I had to pay off. Beware if you sign up with them, the initial rates are good, but their business model focuses on your not keeping up with your contract cycle so they can gouge you at its completion. I changed suppliers and dropped budget billing so I will never be surprised again. If you sign up with them, please go in with eyes wide open. read more

Oasis Energy is a horrible service provider. My electricity contract was acquired by them from Great American Power. I received no notification of the end of my contract and my kilowatt hour charges went up 2 1/2 times. I called to complain and the company would do nothing about it. They just wanted to try to sign me up for service going forward, why would I choose a provider that would provide such horrible customer service and would not work with me to resolve my problem. How can your utility bill go up over $400 in one month when you did not consume that much more electricity. It is horrible that they do this to the everyday consumer. read more

My Wife signed up for an offer. Without sending notice, they jacked up the rates. We called and they promised us a refund would be sent within 90 days. After 180 days and no refund, they claimed they gave us a credit on our bill. Then they said the money went to a "bad debt". I have copies of all statement. Every single bill was paid on time and there was no "bad debt" or credit. Now I was told that all managers are in a meeting and will call me back in 48 hours. Avoid at all cost!!! read more

Offered a sales pitch that took many insistent questions to finally get a rate quote that was higher than any rate I have paid in the last ten years excepting May and June of 2012. Good rates under contract. Once contract is up they double your rate! I own several business so I missed the renewal notice, this has cost me over $600 for three accounts with them this month. So the "savings" over the year was more than lost! I would never sign up with Oasis Energy again and more than likely never sign up with a third party supplier again. Caveat Emptor. I just switched away from Oasis Energy gas last month. Like most of the other reviewers, I had a competitive rate for my contract period. At least they sent me an warning to renew about a month before it expired, in which they stated that after expiration : "there is no limit on how much your rate may vary from one billing cycle to the next". This should have alarmed me, but I naively assumed it would remain close to current rates (wish I'd checked these Yelp reviews at the time). A month after expiration, I realized the rate had jumped 215%. I told them this was customer abuse, but they were not apologetic. After reading these Yelp reviews, this 200 - 300% jump is apparently built into their business plan, allowing them to make more in one month than they make during the entire life of the contract. They claim to have mailed me 2 letters which I never got. I signed up for an initial offer with Oasis of 5.69 cents per kwh. Good rate, for sure! At the end of that term, they shot my rate up to 15.9 cents per KWH. When I go to the Electric Choice website for PA, there are 25 or so offers of electricity for ranges from just under 8 cents to 9.2 cents. Clearly these people bank on people not paying attention. Fortunately this rate was the first month for me. I put in a switch to a company offering something more of the going rate. Hopefully it goes through soon, but any savings I saved earlier with this term, was negated in that first month of crazy high rates! read more

After acquiring Great American Power, Oasis did not honor the contracted fixed rate and tripled the rate per kilowatt hour. After reporting this on November 14, I have not received a refund. I placed many calls to get the refund and they keep promising but have not fulfilled my request. I am no longer a customer and will not recommend Oasis to anyone. read more

YOU WILL REGRET BUYING FROM OASIS. I wish I could give these crooks zero stars. I signed up for a 6 month contract at 6.1/KW. They failed to send me any contract renewal notices (as required by law). After the contract, they more than doubled my rate to 14.3/KW. When I switched away, they charged me 16/KW cents on the partial bill - PLUS another 23 cents per day. My new provider's bill was less for twice the energy. read more

Please be careful of your end of contract date, and terms! I renewed with Oasis during the transition from Great American Power. They switched me over to a variable rate for 2 weeks which was 200% higher than the fixed rate I had before with Great American Power. Plus they added a monthly fee also! (which I never had with Great American Power.) I was NOT notified by email or letter, that my previous contract was expiring. (They claimed that I was notified 30 days ahead of expiration). I am appealing this contract "gap" gouging issue. I hope I get some positive results! read more

What a nightmare. My first bill from Oasis came to more than I have ever been charged, even during the summer time. Somehow within their accounting system it was charging me daily for something that was supposed to be charged monthly. This same issue happened again in the next bill I received from my utility. How can something so simple not be taken care of in less than 1-2 billing cycles aka 1-2 months. Safe to say I ended my relationship with this company. Do not use them unless you are prepared to file a complaint with your states energy regulatory body and still have to make payments to your utility until you are reimbursed. read more

When you join, they do not send a welcome packet confirming anything you agreed to over the phone. Also when your contract is about to expire, they do not send out notification that your rate is going to increase (despite claims that they did). I ended up paying four months at a crazy amount before I checked my bill and noticed the rate increase and added fees. I asked a supervisor to send me a copy of the original letter/email that was sent to me regarding the contract expiration. I eventually received that letter from Oasis, but it was dated one day after I talked to the supervisor. Be careful. read more

This company initially offers good rates but then greatly increases them if you don't manage your account with them perfectly. They don't advise you when your 'contract' is about to expire as they claim to do. BUYERS BEWARE! This company will bait you in with a good rate for the first term but will SCREW you at the end of the second term. Their policy states that they will notify you two times as your fixed contract is nearing the end. They do for the first contract, building your confidence, but you never hear anything from them as the second term expires. Turns out I am just one of many customers of oasis that has been ripped off by this scam and apparently there is nothing that can be done about it....Obviously they are not in business to keep clients rather they are just trying to get over on us....I never received the renewal in the mail and even though mail has been lost I doubt if it was even sent....Last December my bill was $158.00 this year was $440.00. ........something needs to be done about this. read more

TERRIBLE!! TERRIBLE!! I was a customer and my term was up with another supplier. Due to an error on there part, my new contract didn't go thru. I had 3 emails from them saying my enrollment went through and the contracts attached. I didn't realize PPL wasn't contacted of this until I got my next bill and it was double what it usually is from my old supplier. I have been on the phone with Oasis 4 times now and still could not get this resolved. I overpaid for a month and a half due to their error. I renewed my account in January a month before it expired. The letter I received said I could do this through via phone or online. I renewed online and received a confirmation email a few minutes later. The confirmation said it could take a few billing cycles to take effect and to keep the email for my records. In July I realized that they never honored my fixed rate and I was charged almost double what I signed up for. This lead to being over charged $700+ When I called to question why my rate was never reflected they told me that their system did not show I renewed my service and they no longer provide service in my area. I stated I had a confirmation email as proof and they did not seem to care at all. I was told a manager would be calling me back. However I never received a phone call only an email stating the same explanation. We reviewed your account and we don't show that you renewed. If I could rate Zero stars I would. Instead of saving me money it cost me more. Horrible customer service and horrible experience. read more

If zero stars was an available rating this is how I would rate Oasis Energy. Do not go near them; they bait and switch customers. I had a long-term contract with First Energy which was transitioned to Oasis. NEVER received the 60-day contract expiration letter and after making three verbal requests with Oasis Energy customer service still have not received a copy of the letter. Customer service is unable to tell me when the contract expiration letter was mailed. When I have called Oasis asking for a copy of contract expiration letter, each time I'm told by a customer service representative that Oasis Energy is "busy" and that only one department handles mailing contract expiration letters. REALLY??? funny, they were willing to email the new contract info to me, but not the 60-day contract notification letter. I had to call and literally beg twice for a copy of the new contract which I did eventually receive by mail. They wanted to email me the contract info but I insisted on receiving it in writing. As residents of PA, there are MANY other electric suppliers to choose from. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Oasis. Not reputable and customer service is a sham. read more

I actually downloaded Yelp in order to make sure I am able to warn any potential future customers from suffering an experience similar to mine. I was contacted by a rep who was advertising Oasis as a less expensive alternative to BGE in Maryland. The rep explained that the cost per month would be at or lower than BGE. Little did I know, for the past 4 and half years, my wife and I have been charged almost double what BGE has been charging. The only reason we found out is because we recently moved and a BGE rep pointed out the excessive rate we were being charged. Over the 4 and half years, this means we paid thousands of dollars more than we should have. When I called to get information, I was told the contract is clear about there variable rates. When I asked for a copy of the contract, I was told there is not one and that the contract was verbal. When I asked for a copy of the verbal contract, they said an outside agency did the call and they would not keep any verbal contracts beyond 2 years anyway. In other words, I was called and told my rates would be lower but after the first two months, they hiked my rates to almost double the rates of BGE. Obviously, I would not agree to a contract that exposes me to variable rates after just 2 months. The worst part is that I had no idea that they were charging more than they should have because the bills still came from BGE (not Oasis!) Be very wary and make sure you read the BBB experiences because they describe the same scam that I unknowingly falling pray to. read more
