Mike Howard a salesman at Oaks Automotive scammed us on a cash sale of a 2015 Mercedes. He gave us a carfax stating the Mercedes was in great condition. After driving it for a day the noise started. We took it immediately to a reputable import repair shop and they reported the Mercedes had suffered a devastating rear differential failure. This car cannot be driven. When it seems like the owner is the only handyman available I highly would not recommend. Bought car from here and it was problem after problem with the car. As I am driving home from the check engine light came on. When I checked it out the entire exhaust was broken off from the engine. If I could give negative stars, I would. This dealership is the textbook definition of predatory and dishonest car sales. DO NOT TRUST DANIEL or RAY In December 2024, my wife and I had no choice but to buy a car quickly because her old one broke down right before I started military orders in California. We even had our 3-month-old baby with us in the dealership, and they still held us hostage in their finance office for over four hours. We were told our $1,000 down payment would reduce the balance of the loan. That was a lie. When I reviewed the paperwork later, I found they buried my down payment under bogus add-ons and fees: * A $2,200 "service contract" I never asked for. * A $399 "appearance protection" charge. * Inflated "doc" and "convenience" fees. The car was advertised at $6,995, but they padded the contract until the total price hit $10,600+. Then they stuck us with a 20.4% APR loan through Westlake Financial -- essentially a payday loan disguised as auto financing. The result: * My $1,000 down payment did nothing to lower my loan. * The dealership misrepresented the deal and trapped us in predatory financing. * They exploited a young military family with a newborn during a stressful moment. This was not an honest mistake -- it was deliberate. Oaks Automotive lied to us, buried us in junk products, and profited off our vulnerability. I attempted to contact them, first Daniel, who insist on speaking over the phone and delivered very little information via text, and Ray, who did the same and outright refused to respond to my emails. These guys are crooks, avoid them at all costs. I'll be filing complaints with the Ohio Attorney General and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Wouldn't even give them a 1 if I didn't have to. These people are absolutely terrible. We bought a car from them and the very next day it stopped running. We had to put a whole new motor in it. They did not care at all and would not compensate a penny of it. So not only did we just buy a car and put a down payment down on it we also had to put thousands into a new motor to even drive it again! Devastating!!!! Not even an apology. Just very, very rude. We bought the warranty but they called it a pre existing issue and wouldn't cover a dime! DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THEM!!!! I gave the dealership a 1 because I could not give it a zero. I test drove a couple cars. while parking I tapped the bumper of another car. I offered them my auto insurance and policy number. They tried to force me to pay out of pocket. I refused and offered them the auto insurance information. Two employees began screaming profanities, one who claimed to be the owner was screaming the F word repeatedly. I told him that I was leaving and the same guy and another employee blocked the door. I was going to buy a truck from Oaks Automotive. I was verbally told by the salesman Daniel, that he would knock off $500. So I paid my mechanic $120 for a used car inspection. ( In which Daniel was aware of). Upon returning to the dealership I was prepared to purchase the truck, when he informed me he would no longer honor the $500 discount I was told I would receive. I was shocked that this was the way Oaks Automotive does business. I would suggest you shop elsewhere because these people are shady. They "sell" (tell you have to purchase) an extended warranty in order to finance with a certain bank. While signing paperwork, I asked why the sale price was inflated by $2,000, I was told it was for the warranty that I was "purchasing" from the bank. I then asked when I would receive the extended warranty paperwork and was told the bank would send it to me. After 5 months, I never received any warranty paperwork from the lender and called them, the lender explained to me that I never purchased a warranty from them. So I called Oaks Auto and asked to speak to someone regarding this, once transferred, I explained my issue and was told basically tough luck, its not on the paperwork, I then asked for who would need to be contacted regarding a legal matter if need and was told Aaron but when I was for a last name, they didnt know, I said that sounds like a scam and was told "so does your attitude and was HUNG UP ON. So I went to the dealership and asked to talk this out and the "owner" jumped up out of his chair, slammed his hands on the desk like a toddler who didn't get his way, stuff flying everywhere and proceeded to yell profanities at me, told ne its his dealership and hell do whatever he wants. Then changed his story and told me they were lender fees once I began to question why the price was raised. (Even though the bank said they weren't) Proceeded to SCREAM and call me a Fatf**k, tell me I was a degenerate, called me a "Tiny tim" told me my "wife married a piece of s*** with no credit" told me I needed to work out. Etc etc All while customers were coming and going. I finally left to calm down and while sitting in my vehicle, he had one of the salepersons come out and tell me I had to leave the property. My 90 yr old mother trusted Salesman named Chance at Oak Automotive at 1065 Ohio Pike Cincinnati, Ohio. He told her nothing was wrong with the 2013 ford escape she purchased for 8,000. She gave all her cash for it. Couple weeks later the vehicle began making a lot of noises. She took the car to her AAA mechanic. He advised her to take the vehicle back to oak automotive to fix. The axle boot was only one of many items wrong he told her it was really unsafe for her to drive. He showed us the underneath of the car and it was completely rusted with many parts ready to break off. He said if he were to try to fix one thing something else will break due to all the rest. We went to get the title from Oak and told Chance of the problems. She wanted to know how he was gonna make it right. He ask that we bring the car in for the weekend to leave the car so his mechanic could look it over once again and that he will find out what they could do to make this right. A week later she had not heard so we reached out to what they could do to make this right. Chance said we will have to agree to disagree on the issues of the car stating anything could've happened to it after it left the shop. His mechanic found nothing but maybe the boot axle. As for what we saw as complete rust underneath he said, it is a used car you have to expect some rust. He said That wouldn't be on them. We told him we saw the entire underneath of the car is rust, things were leaking and very brittle that could not have happened within the 30 days. We would have had someone look at it sooner, however, my mother had to go be with her friend that had gone into a coma right as the car was bought. But it looks like that wouldn't have mattered to them. It was still within 30 days that we were showing him this. My mother had signed all the papers releasing them of responsibility when she purchased because she trusted Chance. But now we were talking to the Chance that had already sold the car., ungiving, uncaring, and full of excuses, reasons why they weren't going to do anything to make it right. Chance now said your mother cannot expect that they fix everything on the car that was wrong with it when she bought it. He went on to say When you buy a used car you're going to find problems and you need to expect to put more money into it. ( his exact words). Maybe he should have told her this truth in the first place. Chance even said to me, your mother is 90 years old. She's likely to drive 100 miles a year. I'm sure the car will make it. I reminded him that I had told him in the beginning my mother goes on long trips. I don't think I know another used car lot that would be like this and most especially to a 90 year-old. You want to at least try to give her a car that has been fixed to the best of your knowledge. It was clear that they knew things were wrong. Sold it to her anyway. They would not take any ownership for the vehicles issues that were there when purchased. They were not going to make this right. More research leads us to believe that this place seems to have a scam of sorts where they sell cars with issues they know about and they have the customer bring it back to be fixed at purchaser expense. That is the only thing that was offered to my mother! I hope somehow to get this out to the public that they would be aware prior to considering a purchase at this car lot specifically. My younger sister just bought a Nissan VERSA from this dealership. Two hours after she left the car wouldn't start. It happened again this morning. When I called and spoke, although I was angry about this since we gave her the extra money to purchase the car, the owner ripped me a new one for being "curt" with him and said that I was degrading him. So very, very rude. His name is Jessie. Daniel was our salesman and assured us that the Nissan VERSA was a great car, that his mom had one, etc, etc. Jessie, the owner just told us that Nissans are the worst car you could buy, and still continued to be nasty to me. Looking at the other reviews, Daniel, our salesman appears to be very untruthful. Jessie then proceeded to tell us that maybe someone tried to steal her battery out of her car because so many batteries are being stolen in the Cincinnati area. When I got upset over this, (as the car wouldn't start 2 hours after she drove it off the lot), he started being very rude by saying I was rude when I said that my sister now didn't trust them because of this. It was unbelievable that the owner would talk to a customer like this, so I handed the phone to my husband who handled him better. read more
