We got here on a Thursday, everything was peaceful, bathrooms were clean and all was well until Friday night. Quiet hours are supposed to start at 11pm so I won't complain about the loud music and blinding spotlight level lights until 11pm. HOWEVER- Our neighbors were playing obnoxious music until 4:45am!!! Having loud obnoxious drunk conversations as well all while having LED lights that probably blinded half the wildlife within a mile of us! Bathroom toilets were all backed up in the portable unit the setup as a replacement to the permanent fixtures that were taken out of service. We go camping to enjoy nature and stargaze! Add to all of this the fact that no one answered the emergency line for management last night. Definitely cannot recommend this campsite!

We attempted to enter the campground on Friday at 8:30pm when it is listed online the office is open on Friday from 8am - 10pm. No one was at the office and no paperwork was left outside for us. We had to go home and come back. We arrived about 9am and the office did not know of our reservation however she happily checked us all in. She stated that she checked the bookings at 1pm and did see any new ones and that she left at 4pm. I don't believe we should have to pay for Friday night because of this. Next, the site says free Wi-Fi and snack bar but the woman we spoke to on Saturday afternoon admittedly knew nothing about the Wi-Fi and there is no snack bar. Additionally, there were no bathhouses only an abundance of over flowing porter potty's and showers. We opted to use a neighboring campers restroom. Finally, there is no playground and the dog park was full of overgrown grass. Please, consider our feedback as we want this campground to succeed. Update: the owners refunded our Friday night stay for the inconvenience which is great!

I spoke to Shannon first and she was very kind and informative. She explained that she didn't have anything until mid November and gave me an alternative place to go. I told that to my daughter who lives in Dingmans and she said why don't you just book the one in November and that way your closer to me. To just find another place from Sept to November. So I called back and spoke to someone else, she called me back and left this message. "Hi this is tri state campground I am so sorry I cannot have a site for you in November, now is the time to be looking certainly and I'm sorry if I disappointed you but I know that you can do better". So I called her back to see if they would try to book me at a later date, and her responses on the phone made me ask if there was a reason she didn't want me to stay at her campground. She said you don't know me or my business and its none of you bizwax. I am a professional bookkeeper and because I work remotely she had an attitude about that on the phone. I have never been so upset that someone would refuse my business and be so extremely rude about it when all I wanted to do was get closer to my daughter and grandkids and relocate to the area. They will never get my business and shouldn't get anyone else's either in my opinion.

Campsite (3/5): These are a bit stacked on top of each other but our group had two next to each other so it didn't impact us too much. Ambiance (4/5): These campsites are right on the water which is absolutely stunning! You really feel like you're in nature, but there is a major road near the top campsites and even by the water you can hear road noise. There was a huge group at the top which partied into the night though we're up late anyhow and it was no issue for us. Consider earplugs if you're not like us. Bathrooms (4/5): These were relatively clean for a campground bathroom. Minus a star here because on the last day the women's room was out of order -- but I believe it was due to another guest, as a member of our party heard someone say "oh no it's not flushing!" TL;DR: Great for those late-into-the-night campers. If you stay here make sure you get a waterfront spot.

According to the radar and weather it was supposed to rain but it only drizzled which was doable. We parked at Matamoras so we ended there. The bus took us to our starting point. It was the perfect amount of time for us. We had a great time as we listened to music, chatted and had snacks and lunch. Next time, we want to go white water rafting somewhere! It was $280 for 5 people totally to $56 a person which was steep but we had a great time.

I think it's important to note for this story that we are both normal, healthy BMI, 30s women who work out regularly. We are not overweight or very inexperienced and we were not drunk when this happened. When they launched us into the river on the NY side and told us we'd have to make it to the PA side to get picked up, I knew it wasn't going to be a relaxing trip. Most river companies drop you off and pick you up on the same side because it can be very hard (or impossible) to cross the river in a tube without a paddle. For 2 hours, we truly struggled to get to the correct side of the river. The current was strong and not only could we not make it to the PA side, the current was constantly pushing us into trees and rocks on the riverbank on the NY side. We got out on the riverbank and relaunched twice. We got out of the tubes completely and swam twice. We stayed in the tubes and kicked as hard as we could (probably spent a full hour kicking). The best we ever did was get to the middle of the river. It was exhausting and we had maybe 20 minutes total of actual relaxation. When the trip was almost over, we knew we weren't going to make it over. My friend luckily had cell reception and called the company to ask what we should do, while I got out of the tube one last time and kicked as hard as I possibly could. As we passed the Indian Head pickup point, the worker on the riverbank saw us passing by and got in a kayak to come tow us back. As he got within shouting distance, he started yelling at us that we had do "do something!!! You can't just lay there!" despite me being in the water kicking. He continued to yell at us as he approached, asking why we didn't get on the correct side of the river. His anger surprised me and was completely unhelpful and rude. He towed us to shore and by that point we were maybe half a mile down from the pickup point so he asked us to carry his kayak paddle back for him, which we did, and he ran off. We claimed up through the bushes and started walking down the road, carrying our tubes and the paddle. The school bus spotted us about a quarter mile away and took us back to the dropoff point, where I went inside to check in our tubes. Immediately, the manager started asking me questions. "Why do you have a kayak paddle? Didnt they tell you to get on the right side of the river? Why didn't you do it? Why didn't you get out and swim?" At no point did he or anyone even ask if we were OK. This was a completely terrible experience. I'm mostly just really surprised that they were such absolute a-holes about the situation. There are a lot better companies than this one. AVOID.
