I ended up in this restaurant because it was on the way to Stockbridge, MA. I didn't even know this place was still NY...lol The breakfast was really good and tasty. I had the eggs Benedict. The orange juice is really good and they sell a really nice sauce, don't remember the name, the bottle cost $13.00. The breakfast order comes with just One piece of bread, which I had a hard time with because I use 2 pieces of bread to eat my eggs. My mom gave me her piece of bread to complete my sandwich.The waitress was nice. This place has such a great menu, not the same old diner fare which is a nice alternative to chain restaurants. The menu prices for food is a tad high which is fine as long as quality food, a clean place and attentive service....but one out of three was the case for my experience here. My fiance's eggs Benedict were undercooked and the holindaise sauce runny. My grilled veggie sandwich was outstanding, but my fries were ice cold and were bits of fries with most being a half inch or less in size. (I know that sounds picky but seriously, fries found at the bottom of the bag are usually like this, toss them or mix them in with the full size fries in order to give some value to your customer) The waitress never came back to ask how our meal was. Our waitress was not on the floor and the other waitresses were not available as I could see one busy texting and the other was busy tending to her tables. She didn't ask how everything was when she cleared our plates either, even though none of my fries were touched (that should be a clue to any waitress). I give total credit to this place for their beverage selection as they had a great selection of beer and wine as well as some exotic sodas. Of course, he and I both ordered a diet coke as we always do. But, I was totally floored to see that we were charged $2.99 for each can of soda. I know things are expensive and it would cost that much or more in the City but seriously, that is gouging in every sense of the word. So, poor service, cold food and overcharging on the highest profit item they serve rates this place poorly for me and I would not recommend it. Kudos to the owners for putting together such a quaint place but honestly, if your going to do something.....do it right and get some management on the floor, add some quality control and be a good restaraunt instead of someplace that survives and relies only on location and kitch. read more

This diner always appears busy on our trips to Millerton. Considering it was about 10:30AM on a Saturday (the first Saturday the Farmer's Markets opened for the summer season) the place was quiet. We were seated right away, and there appeared to be more waitstaff than there were diners in the restaurant. Menu was sparse for a diner but it had all of the new trends in trendy cooking ie. organic, grass-fed, locally sourced. Breakfast was delicious. I ordered a vegetable omlette which came with home fries and a slice of toast. Portions weren't large but rather just right. Veggies were fresh and plentiful. My dining companion ordered pancakes which came with two eggs and bacon for a reasonable $7.99. I did not find the prices high because the quality of the food matches the pricing. Only complaint was the uncomfortable booths, but the staff got us in and out in true diner fashion so it didn't matter much. read more

Plenty of parking and across the street from the Harlem Valley Rail Trail makes it the perfect spot to have lunch. Think of really good dinner food with vietnamese twist. Banh mi , pho, and kim chi reside on the menu along with omelettes, hamburgers and assorted sandwiches. Sriracha sauce sits next the ketchup on your table. The wait staff friendly. So order a craft beer with your meal and finish it off with a soft serve vanilla/chocolate twist cone for $2. read more

Long gone are the days of the old Millerton Diner, a place where, after my Junior Prom in April of 2001, ten of my friends and I wearily yet excitedly consumed sub-par greasy pieces of French Toast and sausage. Long gone are the days of the old Millerton Diner, where even a year ago, my parents and I decided to have a quaint lunch that turned into a sub-par meal of inadequate chicken wraps. Now is the era of the Oakhurst Diner, and I happily welcome it. Owned by a member of the Harney (as in the creators of the world's best tea) family (...always a good thing!), they are still working out a few of the kinks...despite the fact that they are not serving breakfasts yet at this diner, only lunch and dinner, they still have a breakfast menu printed on one side of their menus, for when they ARE ready. (My friend's husband was a bit disappointed, as he was in the mood for corned beef and hash, alas, life went on.) The menu is currently a bit limited, but absolutely delicious. My friend's husband got the meatloaf with sides of roasted vegetables and red cabbage salad, and my friend and I each got the Oakhurst Burger, which was pretty close to perfect. (This restaurant actually knows how to make "medium-rare" correctly. Kudos!) The french fries are homemade and perfect: just soft enough and crunchy in the right places, with little bits of potato skin still attached. *mmmmmm* The best part? They serve Bruce Cost's unfiltered ginger ale in three different flavors! (Jasmine Tea Ginger Ale is the new love of my life!) The apple pie? Let's talk about the apple pie. Homemade. Homemade. Homemade. Fresh crust. Fresh apples. Delicious spices. Homemade whipped cream so thick that I thought it was a scoop of vanilla ice cream at first. The best part? It pairs SO WELL with the ginger ale! I might just go back to this place to consume these two items exclusively! The prices were good. I don't think any of the side dishes were more than $3, with most being less than $2! All of the sandwiches / burgers were $6.99 with a choice of four sides. All of the entrees ranged from $12.99 to $14.99. The milkshakes were less than $4! (I swear, I can never find a milkshake, short of McDonalds, for less than $5 anywhere nowadays...) This is a fancier twist on your average diner, certainly, but well worth it. This place is perfect for the locals and the visitors of this fine area. (And I consider myself to be both, of course!) Oh, yes, and CHRIS NOTH WAS THERE. Yes, Mr. Big himself. So handsome. UPDATE! BREAKFAST UPDATE! Thought I would chime in on breakfast at Oakhurst, and yes, its damn good too! Nice variety in the offerings (as well as flexibility to really order anything for breakfast), good coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice make it, yes...dare I say it....the best breakfast in town...YES! And if you don't get their potato side dish (a modified potato pancake) with breakfast, you are missing out! Enjoy! AND FROM BEFORE... Finally! And they are getting it right! As Millerton continues its renaissance, Oakhurst Diner is a welcome addition to its food scene. Beautifully remodeled and updated, the diner (which used to be an eyesore (anyone remember "Coach Ali's?")) is now a true food destination for the town. Okay - it's not a "diner" per se, since the menu is a bit limited and is mostly locally sourced and seasonal, but doesn't disappoint. Oakhurst takes at times a tongue-in-cheek approach to its menu. Yes, that's a corndog under your egg. And it's great. One Oakhurst staple that should not be missed is their burger. Dare I say the best in town - YES. Dare I say the best in the area - YES. The county - YES. It's simply right in every way. As Oakhurst gets into the rhythm of the summer, its service continues to improve and the kitchen is more secure in its footing - the Oakhurst is sure to become the culinary beacon of town. This place may be in a building that is diner style but I would not call it diner food. I grew up eating the crap that used to come out of this place and what the new owners did with it is amazing. The seating is a little cramped and service wasn't bad but... just OKAY I guess...but thats pretty much all I can say that was negative about it. Food taste and presentation gets a total A+. Everything tasted fresh and they get their beef, and possibly other food from local farms. read more

Decent food - salads and breakfasts Scrambled eggs are sadly overdone But the two stars is because they do not advertise they they charge EXTRA if you get more than one tiny thing of salad dressing! Makes no sense - when you spend $13.99 for a Cobb salad at a diner, why would the dressing be so tiny and then charge extra for another? It's not on the menu, and our waitress (who was very nice but management did not train her well) didn't know this until after we were charged. I'm not usually a big fan of diners; something about them being perpetually covered in grease kinda turns me off. But Oakhurst isn't quite like that. This is my first time visiting Millerton and after biking down the Harlem Valley Rail Trail this diner hits the spot. I chose the Bahn Mi. with a side of kimchi because you have to keep with the theme. Not only was the sammich everything I hoped it would be and more, there was a lightness, an airyness to it that I haven't experienced with other similar Bahn Mi sandwiches. This place was such a perfect find. Having a leisurely drive to New England from DC by way of the Hudson River valley and Berkshires instead of faster, uglier routes. Millerton is where we landed for lunch and Oakhurst Diner did not disappoint. We sat at the counter; service was fast, warm and friendly. Family shared a bunch of food: custom BLT, cheeseburger, bangers and eggs, venison chili cheese fries and a pork sandwich with kimchee. That last was just okay; not bad, but not as tasty as everything else. True about the apple pie... It was ridiculously good. So was my daughter's strawberry ice cream. Tasted homemade. Goodness, no wonder we are feeling so full and hungry for the last leg of the drive! We seriously over-ate. No regrets-- the place is a great stop in a scenic, inviting little town. If we had more time to linger I'd shop in the pretty stores and walk off lunch on the rail trail that starts just steps away from the Oakhurst. read more

Cute diner and the service was good but pricey. Don't order their organic burger! It was the skimpiest burger I ever had at a restaurant and at $17 it was also among the highest priced burger. It wasn't worth $4. The amount of beef on the burger was equivalent to what you'd get on a the dollar menu from McDonald's or Wendy's. My GF got the chili which she enjoyed but was pricey for the amount you got for $10. Also, the cucumber salad was pricey too. We went out of our way to this diner coming back from Vermont and should have gone into Rhinebeck instead. read more

I've been going to the Oakhurst for nearly 4 years. In that time I've seen the Oakhurst decline. When I was new to the area it was delightful, good food. There were great items on the menu discontinued over the years. Service got poorer & poorer with a very high turnover of the waitstaff. I started to notice stuff that would earn you a "C" in NYC and stopped going entirely. Dirty. Subpar, overpriced food. I live in the area, there are few options, but I'd rather pay more for a quality meal elsewhere in Millerton. Would be nice if they could turn it around. I'd happily return. read more

the oakhurst was a bitter disappointment - a diner masquerading as a trendy lunch joint to justify inordinately high prices. it'd be one thing if the food was good...my $13.99 "oakhurst burger" arrived at the table shriveled and accompanied by a run-of-the-mill bun, a skimpy helping of fries, and a pickle that looked as if it had been partially eaten...yikes! all of this after waiting close to 45 minutes for a table (and 45 mins for the food to come!). i will not be revisiting the oakhurst any time soon. read more

I've tried Oakhurst twice now and both times I've been very disappointed. The first time was for dinner and the roasted chicken was raw. I mean, really.... raw? That's a Restaurant 101 no no. The second time I went was for lunch. I am not exaggerating when I say that it took the staff 30 minutes to take our order (with 2 very hungry kids) and then it took another hour to get our food WHICH WAS INCOMPLETE. I personally waited another 10 minutes to get the SALAD I had ordered and they finally brought us the fries we ordered 15 mins. after we were done with lunch. (The fries that we did get were cold.) If this were a large place or even if it was excessively busy, I might not give Oakhurst such a bad rating. But the staff was actually filling napkin dispensers and putting drinks away in the refrigerator... read more

Congratulations to the Oakhurst Diner for serving food that is SUPER DELICIOUS AND SUPER FRESH!!!! I recommend the Tuna Salad, so fresh and the Nicoise Salad too. The fries are cut fresh daily and super yummy too. Best of all, was the milk shakes making this Diner super original, the desserts are out of this world and made fresh daily. The menu is great too without all the normal greasy foods you would expect to find at other diners. Great menu and the service is very attentive and friendly. 10 min after asking for our check, still no check. Instead our waitress was talking with two other waitresses as we put our coats on and asked again. Our waitress seemed surprised of the request especially when I reminded her that we asked for the check 10 min prior. That irked one coworker into giving dirty looks. Not appreciating dirty looks, I let her know that I'd be giving that detail in my review. Dirty look waitress wasn't done.. She came out the back door to lecture us on respecting service industry professionals. Way off the mark we listened and asked if she was done. The Oakhurst needs a kick in the ass, so I am trying to contribute to that cause. So much potential-- Someone's heart, or at least part of their heart, is in the right place: eclectic and irreverent offerings, great kim-chi followed by a milkshake, grass-fed local burger and a pbr on a sunday evening before moviehouse. all good things. Such abysmal, egregious execution-- *always* out of at least 3 things on the menu, spacy, inattentive, airheaded waitstaff (last time we were there our food sat waiting while the lone waitress took a to-go order on the phone FROM HER CO-WORKER, complete with workplace gossip). We've been 5 or 6 times and keep wanting to say "they're just ironing out the kinks" but then we inevitably realize they've been open for almost 2 years. The worst part is no one working there even seems to notice -- on one visit we attempted to order 4 things that they were out of (5pm on a Sunday, no mention until we had already ordered drinks that anything was '86ed'), and there wasn't even the slightest hint that maybe an apology was in order. So why do we keep going back? I dunno. We're insane. I swear, next time it's gonna be better.... read more
