Strawberry matcha
Melissa N.

Honestly, I don't even know where to start. I ordered a strawberry matcha from this place because the pictures posted outside looked amazing. When I get my drink, it looks unappetizing. I watched the worker make my drink and he just squirted three small shots of their matcha mix in my drink. Half the cup was filled with strawberry jam and the rest was milk, not even a layer of matcha. Not to mention he even noticed it looked bad too and just shrug and gave it to me, no cap or anything, I had to get my own. I did get my refund at the end, after waiting more than 15 minutes even though the sign posted outside "We'll be back in five minutes". No hard feelings, but I definitely don't recommend this place. I do help they can approve their service and products, best wishes.

Oakberry serves up a wide variety of açaí bowl options with chia pudding ribbons. They have a good assortment of toppings to choose from, and you get unlimited toppings also. The açaí comes from a soft serve machine, so it has a good texture. Sometimes when the açaí is scooped out at other shops, the açaí is icy. So, I like Oakberry for the smooth texture. Service is quick and friendly. The shop has ample seating and a pleasant atmosphere.

Acai Bowl - The Original (16 oz)

Walked into the store and was greeted with a smile and a warm welcome in from the employee. Off to a good start. The inside of the store was a little trendy and def had a strong beach vibe which totally works as it's located in PB. My friend and I tried their bowls, which are really in cups, so don't be alarmed. They later on the flavors! I thought it was a cool option to add collagen to the bowl, very unique! There's a whole bunch of foods going in these like Chia pudding granola, lots of berries!! For being a healthy super treat, everything tasted super delicious. I scored a parking spot right out front on a Monday afternoon. Sometimes parking can be a little difficult in this part of town, but just keep your eyes peeled and a short walk from a block or two away isn't always a bad thing. If I'm in the area looking for a very tasty, healthy treat, this is definitely the spot!

Acai Bowl - Classic Size (12 oz)

The saddest part is that I leave San Diego knowing about this place. I typically go to the La Jolla UTC location, but ever since they made this location here I have to stop by when I am in town. This is located on a pretty busy PB strip with boutiques around, so it puts it in the perfect location. Walking in, the Lounge is huge! Enough space to stand/sit around. Even with merch you can purchase. I ordered the classic acai bowl with PB, almond butter, peanuts, cocacoa nips, strawberries bananas and condensed milk over it. Also, the number one game changer: Dried milk! THIS WAS DELICIOUS. Every flavor pretty much melted into each content. I would recommend. This isn't like your usually acai bowl where it is frozen and the acai is hard or like ice cream. This is more like a smoothie base and more runnier. However, the toppings make it tie together!

I came here around 2pm on a hot Saturday and they only had 1 person working, She definitely could have used some help so I understood that it was gonna take a few extra minutes for my bowl to be ready. I got the classic with strawberry, banana, blueberry, granola, almonds and chia seed. I was underwhelmed by the açaí as it felt super icy and almost watered down. There's so many other places in this area to try that it didn't wow me enough to some back. Presentation was pretty though!

Açaí bowl and Tropical Beats smoothie

I've gotten Açaí bowls several times from here. I like that they have new menu items often! I like that the bowls come in layers as well! Besides the bowls, I also enjoy their smoothies and chocolate bars. We usually get the Tripical beats smoothie!

2 small sips after.

$7.50 for tonic, super sour. The drink wasn't even full when it's served. This is how much I got after 2 small sips.

My friend creates food content on instagram and we were invited to enjoy an item of our choice at Oakberry's new store in Pacific Beach. I actually been to Oakberry before but at their kiosk stand in UTC La Jolla. I'm glad to see that they are expanding and finally have a physical store. They have a wide variety of items on their menu as well as oakberry made goodies you can take home including protein bars, honey, peanut butter crumbles and more. The store itself is pretty spacious and really clean. Not only that but it's right down the street from the beach making it a refreshing treat on a hot day or in our case a great post workout meal! Their açaí is just as good as I remembered it to be. I like how you can customize your own bowl. The medium sized cup was more than enough for me. I especially loved the addition of whey protein in my bowl. It's a must try!

Location in the heart of PB. Pretty small shop with limited seating and there was only one worker there when we came in. I was glad to see a location of Oakberry open up in San Diego. My favorite part of this is you choose your size they give your base and you basically can choose unlimited toppings. Know that the more toppings you get, the less açai You will get because there's limited room in the bowl. I am a new member of the Oakberry app and there was an incentive that gives you free 1000 Oakberry points when you sign up. However, the app really had some major technical difficulties, preventing me from using the reward which was the whole point in signing up. When I came in to order the bowl, the worker wasn't very compensating and about Customer Service as she wasn't able to accommodate the Bonus points. Tho would've equaled a free shot or purple lemonade. She saw the actual reward, saw that there was an error in the app, and still was not able to show good customer Service and honor what was needed. I was unfortunately disappointed in that and emailed the customer support team, but haven't heard anything back as of right now.Compared to many other acai places this one is more watery and liquidy and maybe more on the sweeter side compared to other açai places. Look to spend about $11-$15 for a bowl as the base price not including any additional topping prices.

A hidden little gem for tasty acai bowls! I made a build your own with acai, granola, chia pudding, banana, strawberries, blueberries, and honey. $12 Not bad size for the price considering you get unlimited toppings - but not my FAV acai base I've ever had. All that to say- nice clean vibe and very sweet young lady worked at the front!

Tropical beats (left) and very berry (right)

I've never had Oakberry before, but I finally got to try it during their opening event. They were offering the first 200 guests a free bowl or smoothie. I decided to try the tropical beats smoothie, and it was amazing. The staff was nice, and definitely tired from the crowd. However, the atmosphere was lively and fun. What I like about this place is that their açai bowls are in cups as opposed to bowls. What's more important is that their ingredients are fresh and their açai is so flavorful. I will definitely come back to grab a smoothie if I'm in the area.

Acai Bowl - Classic Size (12 oz)

Unfortunately this was the worst acai bowl I've ever had in my life. We dined in and the acai came out so watery and melted throughout.. the picture taken was IMMEDIATELY after grabbing our bowls.

Crunchy Bowl
Adriana A.

New opening for Oakberry in PB! I got a 12oz crunchy bowl and the acai was blended nicely. I also loved that it wasn't overly sweet. If you love chia pudding, definitely need to give this one a try! Looking forward to coming back :)

I placed an order ahead of time and showed up about 25 minutes later thinking it would be ready. When I checked in, a younger employee told me it would be another 10 minutes. Annoying, but okay. The parking situation around here is already a nightmare, so I really wasn't thrilled about having to stand around waiting even longer. Well, those 10 minutes turned into 25. During that time, I watched multiple people walk in, place orders after I had already checked in, and receive their food before me. The crazy part? It wasn't even busy. There was no line out the door, no rush, no obvious reason for such a ridiculous delay. After waiting long enough, I finally went up to an older gentleman working there (I'm assuming the owner) and politely explained that I had been waiting a very long time and was confused why people ordering after me were getting their food first. Instead of apologizing or even acknowledging the mistake, he was rude, dismissive, and acted like I was inconveniencing him for asking about an order that should have been ready ages ago. Then, after another 10 minutes, my bowls were finally ready. In total, I waited about 35 minutes after checking in for pickup. To top it all off, the older gentleman practically shoved the bowls at me without so much as a "sorry for the wait." Look, delays happen. Mistakes happen. What bothered me was the complete lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service. If you're running behind, just be honest about it. Don't tell someone 10 minutes when it's really going to be over half an hour. The açaí is good, but not nearly good enough to make up for being treated like an annoyance. There are plenty of other places in San Diego serving great bowls without the attitude.

Street parking is available, but depending on the day and time, finding a spot can be an adventure of its own. Give yourself some extra time, especially on the weekends. Do public transportation if you can. Seating: Limited seating both indoor and outdoor. Room for maybe 20 people. Vibes: Welcome to PB. What's cool is that you're a few steps away from Crystal Pier and the beach, then you got your PB things from local beach goers to some fun random events. The spot itself is nothing too flashy. It has your nice pop music playing with some photos of their drinks and their accolades. Good for a grab and go but if you need a break from the heat, this is a chill (no pun intended). FOOD/DRINKS Funky Monkey Mocha (Recommend) This was good. What's not to love - banana, peanut butter, and chocolate. Fich mocha with a nice fruity sweetness of banana and that nutty taste from the peanuts. A fun and desert like drink that gives you a good caffeine kick. CUSTOMER SERVICE Great! Down-to-earth and welcoming. The menu was overwhelming but I had helpful service. TL;DR OVERALL 4.5 Stars. Good coffee, reasonable prices, and a fun selection that gives this little PB coffee shop its identity. Nothing flashy just simple drinks with growing flavors to reflect the diversity of people that come and visit. Their maybe many coffee shops in this are but it had a good charm. Much love to the Kozoglu family and the Pacific Bean team for holding it down! TIPS: - Definitely explore the signature mocha menu--there are A LOT of choices.

Apparently, Better Buzz believes in birthdays too because they sent me my free drink reward today. So of course, I had to stop by before work and pick up a, you guessed it... Pumpkin Spice Latte. There were a few cars on the drive-thru ahead of me, but the line moved quickly. I also noticed that Better Buzz now has egg bites, so I also ordered the Veggie egg bites to give them a try along with my iced PSL. When I got to the window, my drink was ready, the employee at the window was cheerful, and I paid $8.33 for my egg bites (which was a little steep), and then I was on my way to work. The egg bites came with a little spicy yogurt sauce which was a nice tough. Better Buzz says they make the egg bites, "fresh in house, every day using cage free eggs." The egg bites did indeed seem very fresh, and I enjoyed dipping them in the sauce to add a bit more depth of flavor to them. The PSL is as PSLs are... mildly aromatic, sweet, and heavily flavored with cinnamon and pumpkin notes. It was an enjoyable way to start the morning, although I will go back to my basic and boring Americanos tomorrow because I tend to shy away from sugar in my drinks to be able to enjoy a sweet treat at some point in the day. I guess this was my sweet treat for today! I think Better Buzz doesn't get the respect it deserves from locals and self-described coffee people. Sure, many of the drinks here are sweet and a bit extra, but BB also has solid espresso drinks without all of the the syrups and added stuff. They may not offer pretentious pour over coffee from some faraway place, but they are consistent, kind, and fun. Better Buzz is a great place to go for a coffee or tea drink, a refresher type drink, and or light bites. I still really appreciate their generous rewards program, and honestly, I'll be a fan for a long time to come. Peace.
