The girl running the test wasn't very friendly and didn't explain any of the tests very well but they used a VR system to complete some of the testing and this was a new experience for me. After the testing I was seen by the doctor and this part of the visit felt genuine and I felt like she listened to me and did not rush me through our interaction. read more

One of my best friends is a terrific doctor out here in Santa Clarita. A while back he referred me to Dr. Krista Roden and her optometry practice, Oak Optometry. He told me ahead of time how state of the art their equipment is and that he highly recommended her. That's all I needed to hear. My appointment was a few days ago and I knew before I even got back to my car, that I'd be taking the time to write this review. My entire life I have been blessed with perfect vision.... Never needed glasses and I think I took good vision for granted. But then our age catches up to us I guess! I'm 55 and a few years ago I had to admit things were changing. I can see well at a distance, but ask me to fill out the restaurant receipt and add a tip and I'm as good as blind without cheap reading glasses. Anyway, it was time to finally get a prescription and also just get a checkup and hope my eyes are otherwise healthy. The appointment started with Amanda, who brought me to the room with all the high tech equipment. At no time did anything touch my eye directly or even blast air into it. Amanda was professional and courteous and most definitely knew her job. She gave me clear and simple instructions on how to interact with each one of the machines. It couldn't have been easier. I was told these devices were checking certain aspects of my vision as well as taking super detailed images of my eyes. After just a few minutes I was brought to the exam room. Dr. Roden came in in no time at all. She was very thorough in what we'd be doing. She talked to me about my vision, overall eye health and went through the process of figuring out my prescription. The typical process of "which is clearer, one or two?" that were used to during these exams, even seemed to be a little more advanced compared to some of the old antiquated ways I've had it done in the past. After we were done, she basically had my prescription set up on a device she let me wear and test out in the front of her office where I could look at things close up and even outside. I haven't seen things so clear since I was a kid! I found out that not only do I need glasses for when I read, but I even need a bit of help for distance. Getting older really stinks. Everything about the experience was 5 stars. Dr Roden knows her stuff. She's got a great practice and a great staff. She should be proud of what she's build at Oak Optometry. It's very refreshing to know I've now got an eye doctor that I'll have for the rest of my life. She's young and says she's not going anywhere! I can't recommend Oak Optometry enough. I am THRILLED to have found Oak Optometry! My family has a fairly scary eye health history. Dr. Roden is absolutely fabulous and was so thorough in checking my eyes for retinal issues. As soon as she saw a questionable image, had a referral letter ready for me the same night. She was patient with me as I'm weird about eyeballs anyway. Dr. Roden is fabulous with my kids and so patient and kind. My son decided he wanted contacts (he's 9) and they gave him two lessons to teach him how to get his contacts in and were SO ENCOURAGING! The best eye ever had, lol. Seriously tho, I went for eye exam, they did some tests. Wasn't sure what to expect. It's a small office, but They have the lasted updated equipment.. The staff there are all friendly, and helpful. Dr. Roden was amazing, she checked my eyes, explained everything about my results, I have cataracts, so she gave me information, and made recommendations. I will be going here from now on. Previously I went to Helm Vision and got glasses, i wasn't happy with them,, the one they recommended have the nose guards that move so every time I put it on my head, my hair gets stuck in. It . I asked if I can change the frame since it hadn't been 2 weeks yet, they said $100 restock fee would be charged. On my original appointment I was told I have 30 days if I wanted to change them and there would not be a charge however because this one has the different type of frame than I had previously it would be charged. I also later received a bill for $26 for a charge. I was not even told about. Very disappointed in Helm will not be going back there, especially now that I found Oak and they are wonderful. Dr. Kim answered all my questions and explained things about my prescription and needs that had not previously been explained. She cleared up some incorrect information and provided clarity regarding my eye health. The office staff and assistants are also highly professional. Jessica did the pre-screening tests. She noticed that my hat referenced my service in the Marine Corps and thanked me for my service (always appreciated). Recently picked up my second pair of glasses and contacts for my husband. I enjoyed going through the unique and trendy styles of glasses options. I'm so happy with the quality of the glasses. My last pair were "top of the line" of what target optometry had to offer and the anti glare left me with a terrible fear all anti glare glasses would be the same. Not the ones from Oak Optometry. I ended up paying less and had amazing quality lenses. I was so excited about it I went back half a year later to get another pair! Staff and Dr. Roden are incredibly helpful and patient. Went here for the first time today, and wow! I am floored by how amazing the doctor and office staff are! They saw me right away at my appointment time (not to trash anyone online, but I usually go to a place that rhymes with "Pens Drafters" at the mall and ooh boy, not only does it usually take forever to get seen, but asking for something simple like a printed copy of your prescription can take ages.) Dr. Roden at Oak Optometry was very thorough during the appointment, and not only handed me a printed copy of the prescription without me asking, but also emailed images of my retinas and an itemized invoice right away. One thing that stuck out to me is that they aren't just about your money. The doctor was very forthcoming with costs of everything (I past experiences with other places, this tended to be more of a surprise once I got back to the front desk) and she also advised me of different cost saving measures I might want to take based on my own daily habits etc. All in all a straightforward and positive experience! read more

I love this place! The optometrist is friendly, knowledgeable and engaged, and the salespeople are helpful without being pushy. Money-saving tip: Ask to see the less expensive frames kept in the drawers. If you can find one you like, then you can save some money. Also, I just read a negative review by someone who complained that the doctor suggested she have bloodwork to test for Graves disease (hyperthyroidism). That's not something to complain about; that's the doctor doing her job. I had Graves when I was in my twenties, and I just wish an eye doctor had alerted me to that possible diagnosis. I suffered for more than a decade before I was finally diagnosed. And back then, it was not just a simple blood test. read more

We came from Los Angeles, and it was really worth the drive for us. Dr Krista Roden is very personable, knowledgeable and thorough- and the practice is spotlessly clean, well organized and the equipment is state of the art. It's not like any other practice I have ever been to before actually. I feel that the health of mine, and my children's eyes and our eyesight, are in safe hands here. I needed a new optometrist since moving to the area. I am so happy to find this up and coming business. Dr.Krista is thorough, skilled, and has great bed side manner. I have astigmatism plus I am nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other. Dr.Krista explained that it is pretty hard to get a prescription perfect for my situation and it will take some time to get adjusted to them. We were able to make a pair of glasses and try walking around; that was new to me and very helpful. They don't have the biggest selection and options are more feminine in my opinion.
