Multiple things could have been done to make the process less inconvenient for the office and the customer. First time, last time here. In summary, went to get an eye exam where I stated that the prior prescription glasses from another company was horrible and in need of another set of glasses as soon as possible. Eye exam completed, chose a frame and ordered. Went to pick them up when ready and try them on to only note that my vision was blurry and worse than the other glasses. Told that Dr. Kim would be back on 9/12. On top of this, the receptionist has a horrible attitude. Can see why the prior posting on 4/30/2021 was correct in referencing the office staff here. Sorry, I did not pay for employee attitudes. The prescription needs to be corrected ASAP. This is unacceptable in both eyewear and customer service. read more

Hello. I would like to start by saying Dr. Kim is awesome, but her staff is the reason for the low review. I found this office through my provider VSP. It is close to my job. I had an appointment in early October for contact lenses. It is now the end of December and I have not heard back regarding contact order. I have called and left several voicemails but have not received a call back. My insurance was not billed for the contact lenses, but I paid my copay while I was at the appointment. I've tried to walk in, but they seem to always be closed no matter when I go. I am out of the funds I used to purchase my contact lenses because I'm past the allotted time my bank allows for disputes. Also I have to go to another doctor for lenses. Complete waste of time and money. read more

I've been with dr Kim for the past 6-7 yrs since we moved to SC ; seeing her for my annual vision check ups and renew of contact lenses / eye drops RX . I've been very disappointed with the most recent experience; I was recently out town for a business trip in FL and forgot to take me contact lenses and restasis prescription drops for my severe dry eye syndrome . I called the office asking to release prescription to Costco optometry pharmacy and she didn't approve. I've mentioned to her staff on the phone that I have an upcoming appt after my trip in 2 wks and being myself a health care professional with doctor degree , I asked to have her return my call to explain special circumstances . I never got a call back. I reached out to my new UCLA Hs PCP and she had no problem authorizing RX for my eye drops. I'm very disappointed with her lack of compassion to fulfill a request for an emergency supply of eye drops for severe eye condition. I'll not be going back again to her office including my mother. Went in for a vision check and ordered 6 months supply of contacts. My copay is 10 dollars and typically I pay anywhere between 30-60 dollars for my contacts because my insurance covers 125 dollars worth. The reception said my cost would come out to 205 because my insurance doesn't cover contact fitting and they bill that separately. I've never been charged for contact fitting and I've been wearing contacts for over 15 years now. Needless to say, I won't be going back. read more

This place blows. First off I came in on a Saturday from Malibu and their site said they were open and they weren't. The front door also said they were open and they weren't. Secondly the women told me my glasses would be 316. When she ordered the frame and I came in she told me it was 507 and tacked on a bunch of things. Lastly, the women told me to come in and I thought I was getting the glasses and all she did was showed me the color without perscription lenses. I saw the color online, that's enough for me.... Dr. Ann Kim and the wonderful female staff she employs are quite popular in the Santa Clarita area, and the large number of customers they serve is surprising for the size of office. But they are well organized and have all of the specialized equipment needed to measure and prepare the exacting prescriptions my eyesight has required for more than 5 years now. We see Dr. Kim and her staff yearly and each time we've been treated with the friendliest and most professional manner one could hope to receive. Sure, there has been one visit during which she was running a little late, but Dr. Kim is a very knowledgeable and skilled perfectionist who makes sure EVERY customer receives the same high level of service. And she sees one person at a time, so I was happy to wait a little while. It's obvious that her deepest desire is to exceed the customer's expectations, and at least in our cases, she (and staff) have consistently managed to achieve this goal year after year. My glasses needed to be realigned because it was crooked. Went in and the doctor there over tightened my glasses and the lens cracked. The leg was crooked but she kept tightening my nose bridge. When I asked to take it elsewhere, she said "I've been a doctor for over 25 years. I know what I'm doing." But now my glasses are ruined. Take your glasses to LensCrafters. I am a bit torn here. Dr. Kim is great but my visit today was a waste of time. Like all doctors they are using technology to "remind" us that it is time to visit. While I am fine with this the email had a link to schedule an appointment. Ok, I will play along. Went into the program, selected the date and it populated times. Great this is easy. Selected the time (some slots were blocked out, yep this is normal stuff) and when I showed up today... nope. One of the office staff talked to me very condescending "you don't have an appointment". "Well yes I do, you contacted me via email and I booked it online" I said. "Oh no, you are suppose to call in and make the appointment" she said. My tiny brain said to me "why did they send the email then?". I had to ask. Little condescending girl repeated "you have to call in..." "Yes, I understand that now so please take me off your email list if that does not work" I said. "On NOOOOO it just works that way, I can't take you off that email". If Dr. Kim was not so sweet I would have walked and never returned. I was disgusted by how this receptionist was treating me. I made an appointment just how Sassy said and will talk to the Doctor when I get there. This girl almost cost her my business and I have been going there 10 years. I want to clarify that this review is for the horrible customer service from the office staff. Not from Dr. Kim, as she is a very nice person, and she is very good at what she does. It's a shame that their office staff is driving some of her clients away. Here is my experience; I referred my son there as I've been going there for a few years now. (which by the way, I've never had an issue before, I don't know if they have new staff or what, but they are not very efficient) But anyway we were told that they didn't have a trial pair of the contacts for my son and that they were going to order them. Ok no big deal, well after 2 weeks of waiting, I called a few times to inquire about them. I called several times, left voicemails, and sent texts but they all went unanswered. I don't know why but they just don't return phone calls?! EVER! They finally called 3 weeks later leaving me a voicemail message asking us to make an appointment like nothing was wrong, not apologizing for ignoring me all this time, nothing!? Well after calling a few times again trying to get a hold of them to set up the appointment, they finally answered...YAY! I make the appointment and again no apology for not returning my calls no mention of that at all, well whatever I didn't mention it either and I move on. I proceed to ask her for a receipt for my previous visit as needed that for my FSA records. She tells me that she is emailing the receipt as we were speaking. Well, it's been 2 days and I still have don't have the darn receipt. Yesterday I called and texted, and today guess what? no answer yet LOL! I'm so done... Today I left them a nice message canceling our appointments as I don't wish to continue giving my business to a company that does not care for its customers. I'm back to revise my review. My prescription was not correctly applied to my lenses and the lab flipped my bifocal so the reading prescription was on top. I know this is not the fault of the office. The glasses were returned to be fixed. Two weeks later I picked up my repaired glasses to find they were still not right. This time the distance prescription was completely blurred. I was lucky to arrange a same-day appointment, but waited 40 minutes to be seen. The assistant who helped me tried to lecture me about wearing progressives and that my issue was likely due to my lack of experience with progressive lenses and not the prescription. Wrong. When I saw the Optometrist she was nice, but her solution was not to repair the bifocals and instead, give me a pair of computer glasses. Unfortunately this was not what I wanted and now I need to wear computer glasses AND readers throughout the day. This wasn't a problem with the other optometrists I had gone to in the past. After waiting almost 4 weeks with no response on the third attempt to repair the lenses, I called the office. They said they saw no information for me and they committed to getting back the same day, but they didn't. I called back the following Monday to discover that my glasses had just been submitted to the lab the day I had called the week prior. The office manager had no explanation, but then insinuated because I had asked for a third repair that it had to go through a special approval process, which of course took more time than usual (apparently three weeks). Amazingly after I asked for a refund my glasses showed up within an hour. Maybe it's just my age, and I found the front office staff to be very young and snarky. I won't be back. read more

The staff is unprofessional and never call back when they say they will. The lack of responsiveness and care for customer service is disappointing. Don't bother trying to make an appointment online. No response last year to my online reservation and same this year. Had similar issues last year with responsiveness and getting contacts ordered. Was told last year that it was due to new staff but clearly things have not improved. Dr. Ann is good, but staff should be replaced. Won't be going back. There should really be two separate reviews: one for Dr. Ann Kim and another for the service that this business provides. I have only good experiences being a patient of Dr. Kim the last 7 years. Unfortunately, the other part of the Advanced Vision that I've been having problems with. Let's start with my last visit. I had my exam and ordered eyeglasses one month ago and been told that the glasses will be ready in 5 to 10 business days. The glasses are not ready yet( after 30 days!). I had to call Advanced Vision 3 times and each time was told that it will be coming soon and I will be notified when. Alas, I never received a call back. Who knows when will I see my new glasses? This was not the first time I had problems with this business service. Earlier, when I order new glasses and left my old glasses to replace the lenses and , after the long wait, I was informed that my frame had been broken and cannot be repaired. As a result I had to order a new frame. However, I took my old frame to another shop and they were able to fix it( and I got it back in 2 days!) I understand that Advance Vision Care has a very good optometrist, Dr. Kim. However, if you need your glasses back in a reasonable time frame, you better use someone else. read more

If I could I would give 0 stars...I have been wearing glasses/contacts for most of my life and have plenty of experience with ophthalmologists. I have been coming to this place for several years to get my annual eye exam and monthly contacts. Dr. Kim seemed knowledgeable and I never had any problems...until a couple years ago the exams seemed to get less thorough, and she was more concerned about me telling her how I judged my vision over the past year, than her actually checking it... Also, about 3 years ago, we added secondary eye insurance. The office staff could not figure out for the life of them how to charge my insurances and what was covered. They quoted me wrong co-pays, actually cancelled my appointment the day of because they made an error in checking my insurance coverage and had me rescheduled. Then they tried to tell me neither of my insurances covers my contacts and I have to pay over $300 out of pocket...when in actuality it should have been covered at 100%. Oh and they started charging me extra for contact fitting assessments by Dr. Kim - which I was never ever charged before since it was part of the annual exam! But my last contacts order was the last straw. I had my annual exam in early December and ordered new contacts the same day. They told me they would be there in about 2-3 weeks. The holidays came, and I figured they were closed. When I hadn't heard back from them by mid January I called. My contacts still hadn't arrived "because of the holidays", but they should be in any day now and they would call me. another 3 weeks go by...still nothing. I call them again. Oh, they don't know what's going on, they're still waiting to receive my contacts from the supplier, yadi yadi. Now it's March!!! Still no call. I call AGAIN. Now they're telling me my insurance wouldn't cover my contacts because it's the new year and what not. I ask how is that possible since I ordered them in early December?!?!? So basically, they're telling me they never ordered them????!!!! I loose my sh** since by now I have been wearing a monthly set for almost 3 month! The next day I get a call that the front office gal made a mistake and didn't read the chart right, and of course they ordered them, but they still haven't received them from the supplier. Really?? You are trying to tell me that you ordered contacts and their delivery time is over 3 months?!?! And big surprise - after I raised a stink suddenly the contacts were in the next day. In an overnight FedEx envelope! Which tells me they really didn't order my contacts in December, when they should have because that's when I ordered them, but 3 months later AFTER me complaining every couple weeks since JANUARY!! I will never go back - and neither should anybody else! They try to overcharge you, can't figure out insurance, lie to your face and hold back orders! Why - I don't know, maybe until they have enough orders to save on shipping or get a discount for themselves. Who knows, who cares?! read more

Hello! Usually, I don't write negative reviews because I think that everyone has the right to make a mistake. But this time I think I have to write about my experience with this office. So, a few years ago we moved to Valencia and I started looking for a good eye doctor because It was time to renew prescriptions for glasses and contact lenses for my son and for me. I scheduled an appointment with Advanced Vision Care Optometry because of their good Yelp reviews and because their location was closest to my home. Dr. Kim is a very nice and polite person. But is she a good doctor? I don't know. I've been a patient of ophthalmologic clinics for many years and I check my vision every year. I know that I have the eyesight of - 3.5 in both eyes. It's been like that for many years. Dr. Kim surprised me, I was told that my left eye was - 3.75 and my right eye was - 3.25. Moreover, she told me that I had astigmatism in my right eye, which was very unexpected. No other eye doctor had ever told me that before. I decided to trust Dr. Kim. I figured she knew better because she was a doctor. My son has astigmatism too, we know that. Dr. Kim told us that we needed contact lenses for astigmatism and we needed to come back later because they didn't have that kind of trial contacts in the office. Ok, I thought that at least we could have our glasses prescription that day. Nope, that didn't happen because the staff on the front desk had some kind of issues either with their software or printer. They promised to email the prescription to me later. They never did. We had no choice but to leave with nothing that day. It took about 2 or 3 weeks for the office to get 2 different brands of trial contacts for us. We come, we try them on. Dr. Kim doesn't like how contact lenses for astigmatism fit my and my son's eyes. So, we can't have our prescription for contacts, not this day. She decides to order different contacts for us and tells us to schedule another appointment. I go back to the front desk and ask ladies to print the prescription for glasses for us. It is so clear that the staff doesn't know how their software works and they have difficulties finding our prescription in the system and printing it. Finally, they somehow manage to print our prescription for glasses. Well, that was the only good thing that happened to us in this office. My son couldn't come on the third appointment because school had already started and he had been very busy as a freshman in high school. He decided that the glasses would be enough for him for one year until the next eye exam. I come back to the office. Dr. Kim doesn't like how new trial contacts fit my eyes. Again. I realize that this is my third visit and I haven't come any closer to getting my prescription for contacts. And every time it takes a while for the office to get new trial contacts for me. I insist that they give me a prescription because I don't want to keep going on appointments to their clinic like I have nothing else to do, and what is more important because I am almost out of my daily contacts. They gave it to me. I ordered my contacts in Costco. I didn't really like them because I felt uncomfortable wearing the contact lenses for astigmatism on my right eye. But I thought it was my fault because I didn't let Dr. Kim get the contacts that would fit my eyes properly. So one year later I decided to go back to her office and do everything right. I called them three times, no one answered. I left them two voice messages, no one ever called me back. I scheduled an appointment with another eye doctor. He checked my eyesight and surprise - I don't have astigmatism, and I have the eyesight of -3.5 in both eyes. And he gave me contact lenses that fit my eyes much better and I feel much much much more comfortable in them. Dr. Kim couldn't find contact lenses for astigmatism that would fit my eyes well because I don't have astigmatism. Based on Yelp reviews I can see that there are many satisfied patients that appreciate Dr. Kim's work. But in my experience, I find the staff very unprofessional and Dr. Kim's skills questionable. read more

Are you tired of increasingly expensive healthcare costs while the customer service from practitioners seems to be getting worse? I was certainly of this opinion until my visit with Dr. Kim. She is refreshingly outstanding at being "patient" with her patients and in my opinion sets the gold standard for customer service in the healthcare industry. It was the most thorough eye exam I've had in 40 years and Dr. Kim took the time to explain each exam and the result to me - in layman terms of course. For example, she noticed a bit of dryness in my eyes and rather than try and sell me some overpriced eye drops, she explained a procedure using the humidity of the shower to help moisturize them. I was seen right away, the staff was very helpful and courteous, and the facility was nice with a good variety of eyewear to choose from. I highly recommend giving Dr. Kim a call as you will not be disappointed. My only disappointment is that she isn't a doc in other fields as I'd make her my primary care physician ! read more

I have been coming here for more than 5 years. Dr. Kim is extremely thorough and knows exactly how to help her patients. I have purchased glasses, sun glasses and contacts here and the prices/selection are comparable to other vision boutiques. The exam process is easy and quick. She explains everything she is doing and how it pertains to the health of your eye/vision. Most insurances accepted. Conveniently located off of Newhall Ranch Road in the 7-11 shopping center. While I am not able to rate this place's service, I can most certainly rate their professionalism (or lack of) as well as their racist employee. California is a diverse place, but it seems that some don't understand that the color of your skin or eyes or hair don't make a person, nor tell of their aptitude to do a given job. My sister in law has over 10 years of experience in the industry. Her resume is vast and knowledge matches with current technologies. She's been trying to relocate in a new city, thus looking for a job and taking her resume over to this place. The floor manager called her to come in for an interview with the hiring manager. But once Erika (interviewer) showed up to meet her, her response was in a paraphrase "we are not hiring Spanish speakers. Thank you" without even hearing her speak ... to which my sister-in-law replied, "what makes you think I speak Spanish?", "-because your name is not spelled Naomi, but instead it says Noemi" ... I guess that there is only one right way of spelling a name, Erica, or is it Erika? - is one Spanish and the other English?.. Maybe the fact that my daughter has a French name would not make her an "English speaker" even though she's born in US soil and parents speak English... This person that was discriminated is a US citizen that has lived in this country since the 80's, speaks perfect English, has gone to college and has the blessing of being bilingual. Maybe she doesn't have beautiful colored eyes, like the hiring manager, but for that she's no less than anyone else. If anything, she could've been an asset to the facility having a person speaking two languages, instead of one. So people, just know that this place hires or retains racist / ignorant employees. And unless you have a particular color of skin and a particular spelling of your name, you won't be hire... and likely, if you are patient with a special first or last name, you may get different service than others, things may not be as cordial. read more

I really wanted to give 5 stars for Dr. Kim. She is wonderful. Unfortunately the staff has proven to be highly inept. I called in early July and ordered more contacts since I was almost out. Beginning of August I called since I had not heard anything and was told they had no order. Mid September I called since again had not heard anything and was told they were on back order. I suspect they were not ordered again. I went in and was kindly given 1 time sample lens. I was told contacts would be in after 10 days. I was paying cash since insurance wouldn't cover again until Oct. at this time I'm still waiting and have been wearing my sample contact since Sept. which is only recommended for 30 days. It is now time for my new exam and I wish I could go to Dr. Kim. I'm afraid of no lenses again another 3 months. I'll pass. I think even the 3 stars is very generous. read more
