Lemonade and hojicha latte.

Good option for east-side Toronto brunch. Be sure to follow their socials for occasional discounts on certain menu items or BOGO. I've had their picnic boxes before- the salmon benny and chicken/waffles. They're both great and full of sides for you to pick at. My current favourite is the duck confit burger- the bone just slides right out and it's seasoned to perfection. The flavours in the burger are also quite nice. They are sometimes packed during peak brunch hours, but if you can go on Friday instead of the weekend, I would say you have a good chance of scoring a table.

Fried chicken burger

I was so pleased with this brunch spot! I dined in for lunch with my hubby and two little kids on Saturday. The restaurant was almost full house when we got there around 1pm. A very friendly waitress cleaned a table as soon as previous customers left so we didn't wait much to get a table. We had truffle mushroom bennie, fried chicken burger and blueberry pancakes. All the dishes were packed with lots of flavors. I could see their detailed attention to each dish. The waiters were very nice and friendly. I liked the paint on the wall - very instagramable. We will definitely go back to try other dishes!

Ordered off Ubereats here a few months back as we wanted to try a new brunch place. We were blown away with the food, with a delivered brunch nonetheless! We ordered the chicken & waffles and eggs Benny that time. Today, we were looking for a dine in brunch place and remembered this amazing place! We called ahead of time to make sure there was space & also to make sure there was space for our stroller. When we got there , we were immediately greeted and they even showed us to a table reserved for us with the perfect place to have the stroller beside us. Very impressed with their service already! We were so excited for all the menu items and ended up getting drinks to start : Pina Colada (brings us back to the tropical paradise vacation days) & the Herbs & Berries Tea (very refreshing drink for a warm summer day!) For food we got the duck confit waffles (omg! The duck was so crispy and the compote was on point!) & the truffle Mac & cheese (basically like a giant bowl of delicious cheesy goodness) All in all. I am definitely eating and ordering here again and highly recommending this place !

To-Go Box

Good brunch spot - classic brunch dishes done well, pleasing ambiance, and the current BOGO weekend promo for chicken and waffles is a no-brainer incentive to go. We went here on an early Sunday afternoon (I love breakfast and can eat it all day) so easily got a table. We ordered: - Chicken and Waffles: Good deal for the price, and that's not even factoring the BOGO. Generous portions of the fried chicken and waffles. The chicken was cooked to a glistening inside, though would have liked the fried skin to be a bit less thick and just a smidge more spicy. Waffles and home fries were standard. I like how they were generous with the fruit and blueberry sauce. And that to-go box with for my BOGO was great service. - Crabcake Benny: The eggs were perfectly poached. I would have liked the crab cakes to be a bit thicker/bigger, though they were yummy as the crab taste definitely came through. A tad pricey for the size. Service was friendly and quick. Place itself is on the smallish side, but very clean aesthetic and good distance between tables. Overall, a good brunch spot. Will come back if I ever have one of my all-day-breakfast cravings, BOGO or not.

Duck confit waffles box $18 + $5 fried chicken

O'Somae by Broadview and Gerrard makes some beautiful brunch boxes that are perfect for a picnic. I decided to take the risk and order delivery on UberEats. It came to my place fine though I have to say, it does not look as picture-worthy when delivered if that matters to you. Delivery works for me for a balcony brunch. Note this delivery arrived 10mins later~ than quoted initially. I opted for the duck confit waffles box since I thought it would stay tasty even if it's steamed up inside the box, unlike fried chicken which makes it less crispy. I couldn't help but add a fried chicken to try for $5 and another $5 waffles serving so we could share it for two without getting another whole box. Added also a smoothie $6. With delivery, it costs $45 already, not yet including tip. So definitely a better bang if ordered in person. The food arrived room temp leaning cold for me, so I believe it definitely headed out better than when it arrived. The waffles were brought back to life after putting them in the toaster. Crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. The raspberry and blood orange compote that came with the duck leg was sweeter than I'm used to for pairing with the duck leg. Perhaps that was meant for the waffles. Now I realized I was supposed to get some gravy from the description, and I didn't get that. Instead, I got some maple syrup and the compote. But overall, it tasted okay though the sauces seem a bit sweet and no savoury balance. Chicken is good, though not really memorable. Given the trek it went through, it is pretty good! The Smoothie had all the flavours I thought I'd like, Papaya, Pineapple and coconut milk, and I did enjoy it, but kind of small. I finished it quickly. Will I order again? Maybe in person but unlikely for delivery.

The highlight for me was the BOGO chicken and waffles, but I'll be back regardless! The chicken was fried well, and so tender. The blueberry chutney went great with the waffles, and the home fries were seasoned cajun style. The fruits and the salad were clutch in helping cut through all the richness. I didn't have the eggs benny but my friends thought they were rich and tasty (perhaps a touch of acidity to add). Other tidbits: - Great service; thanks to the staff that helped us take some group pictures by the mural! - Bright and cute vibe with some nice light fixtures and decor - Reservations available if you call in - Parking easy to find around the side streets

Cute decor, friendly and attentive staff. Good came out quick. The waffles came with syrup and a blueberry sauce. The syrup was rich, the blue berry sauce was delicious! Everything was fresh including the fruits. Try the papina colada it has papaya, pineapple and coconut milk. The orange passion iced tea is light and refreshing using a green tea base.

Classic benny box

Picked up the classic benny box this past weekend. Process of picking up was smooth and easy. The meal was great to share for two people. Very cute concept, and easy to transport in the box sets. We ordered ahead and picked up the box to go. Came with salad lightly dressed in a vinaigrette, some Cajun spiced potatoes, some sliced fruits and the two peameal bacon bennys accompanied by hollandaise on the side. Everything was good, and would definitely come back to order again.

Brunch boxes have been getting so popular and this is a new spot in Toronto to grab them! This spot is right by Riverdale Park, so it's perfect for those picnic dates! Can't wait to dine in because the interior is so beautiful and the staff are very friendly! I got the Chicken & Waffle Brunch Box and I loved how there was a great variety. There is fried chicken, waffles, salad, fruit, potatoes - and it comes with maple syrup and berry chutney! The salad and fruit were very fresh, and everything was very delicious and flavourful. I found the chicken to be a bit oily/greasy for my liking but it was still very good! Very worth the money as the portion is pretty large. Also, the wait time was about 15-20 mins. Will be back to try out other items from the menu!

First time driving to a brunch location near downtown Toronto, and this place certainly did not disappoint! Parking was relatively easy to find due to residential neighbourhood, no need for paid-meters. Went with a group of friends, and was surprised by the BOGO offer on the Chicken and Waffles. I didn't personally have the order, but the portion sizes were very large. Definitely worth if you're hungry and a big eater, even without the BOGO. I had the Crab Cake Benny, which was very rich and tasty - however, would recommend a touch of acidity to balance out the flavours, especially with the hollandaise on top of avocado combination. You could definitely taste the crab in the crab cake, flavours of which didn't get muddled by the perfectly poached eggs on top. Home fries were perfectly seasoned and crisp. Sadly, might be personal preference, but I felt like the salad needed more dressing/seasoning to complement the rich Benny. Friendly staff, great atmosphere. I was slightly confused with the indoor seating limit - 10 person indoor maximum posted on the window, but there were more individuals seated inside. Nevertheless, there was adequate spacing on the inside for dine-in purposes. Would definitely come back again!

Chicken and Waffles brunch box

We went on a Sunday morning and called to order ahead. It took about 15-20 minutes for them to prep the food. It's located right at the intersection of Broadview and Gerrard so it's super accessible by transit. There's also a Green P parking lot at the SW corner of Broadview/Gerrard which is like a 2 minute walk away which makes driving also a great option. We ordered 2 of the brunch/picnic boxes; chicken and waffles, and the classic breakfast. The chicken and waffles was great! The chicken was really well seasoned and the waffles were light. It comes with maple syrup and a blueberry compote which was nice to switch up every bite. The classic breakfast was...very classic with breakfast sausages, bacon, and choice of eggs. The overeasy eggs we ordered still had nice flowy yolk, however the bacon wasn't crispy as we'd hoped. Both boxes came with a small salad, assortment of fruit, and homefries which was a nice addition to round out the meal. For drinks, we ordered an iced americano and an iced herbs and berry tea. Both were refreshing and complimented the brunch boxes well. O'SOMAE is also super closeby to Riverside Park East (3-5 min walk) which is where we posted up to take in the fresh air and views of downtown. Great place that I'd recommend to pick up for picnic items or just brunch in general. Definitely will be back when in the area!

As I was reading the reviews a common theme of patrons seems to be that people intended to go to Lady Marmalade but the line was too long so they came to O'Somae instead and were blown away by this gem. I am definitely in that category of people too. The inside is nicely decorated and feels spacious, with bright white walls and lots of natural light coming in. They have many brunch items available. We got the crab cake eggs Benny and the chicken and waffle. I must say, I was disappointed that my crab cake eggs Benny didn't have actual crab claws on it like photos from previous reviews (apparently it was a cost-cutting measure which makes sense given the price of inflation) but that minor thing aside, I really enjoyed it. The crab cakes replacing the English muffins were super tasty, and the eggs were perfectly poached and the hollandaise sauce was taste. HOWEVER, the star of the meal for us was the chicken and waffle. We were greeted by a mountain of fried chicken on top of a crispy and soft waffle. Everyone who ordered this had plenty of leftovers to take home. Service was friendly and attentive. All in all, a great brunch experience. I'm also eager to come back to try their duck confit brunch dishes too.

There's nothing bad you can say about O'Somae. The store front has a nice clean look to it. The interior is chic hip and comforting. The service is attentive and courteous. The food is presented beautifully and tastes delicious. The drinks are spectacular as well. We ordered the chicken & waffles as well as the duck confit & waffles and paired them with their fruity tea fusion cocktails. Both waffle dishes are paired with a jam or compote. Use them, they really go well with their respective dishes. The waffles here are amazing. I'm not huge on waffles but loved these. They're crispy, soft on the inside and sweet. Although the dish sounds heavy we didn't feel sluggish after. The salad and fruit balanced out the dish well. We had both the fusion teas. They're both IG worthy and both tasted great. The herbs and berries was my favourite. It was sweet to start but just let the ice melt a bit and it's perfect. Very flavorful and refreshing! All in all this is a great brunch spot and I'd come back when I'm in the area!

I ate the muffin later in the day for snack and it was moist and delicious with hints of coconut that didn't overpower the other flavours of the muffin. Overall, a great new addition to the neighbourhood! Definitely will become a new favourite among the locals for sure.
