I miss the old poker room. The high hands in June 2019 were awful. Hopefully July is better.

I live about 15 minutes away from Harrah's Chester and the other two. Out of the three - others are PARX and SugarHouse, this one is clearly the best. I go to Vegas every year and this does not compare but I find it comparable to all the the AC casinos. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. The staff is very helpful and if there is an issue with one of the machines, they are quick to resolve it. FOOD: Temptations Buffet is on the lame side but I get free or buy on get one coupons so you can't complain. EndZone Bar & Grill is where I like to eat. It is bar-type food but always hot and fast. Worth a visit if you go and they won't kill you on the bill. Obviously they take comps so you can chop the bill as we often do. C-Bar is friendly and fast. I don't mind paying for beer while watching the Phillies play or a football game. You can play slots while sitting there and that keeps me mildly entertained while my girl plays the slots on the floor. Overall, if you keep in mind that this is a local place and not Tahoe or Vegas, you will have a nice experience and a good time. read more

It's clean. The smoke is minimal. It's a lot more convenient than Atlantic City when you're coming from the DC/Baltimore area. Minimum bet is $15. I think beer is the only alcohol you can get for free. And why bother tipping the waitress when you can pick up your own soda cup? Lost $100 ... think it's time to go home. Great place to unwind and gamble.. Smoke filled even though that section is in the back. I love my Hearts of Venice, Pegasus, Olympus and Zeus slots! read more

I was always a total rewards kind of guy. This is the only Casino near the Philadelphia Region that has an Indoor parking lot. The higher stakes table game actions are way better than what you'll find in Parx or Sugarhouse. They treat you a bit better and when you order a drink, they give you a real glass. Poker on the other hand I dislike. The tournament structure is not as solid as the one you find at Parx. The seating is very tight also. Overall the casino experience is where it should be. read more

Are you kidding me a Casino so close to my hotel near the airport? I don't care for the cigarette smoking throughout the building but stoked they play all the table games like vegas, including craps! Many many slot machines, large sports book, huge poker floor and many blackjack tables. I was only here for an hour since I have to work in the morning, but did like the size and scope of this Harrah's just minutes away from my regular Philly hotel. I guess that's another strike against them, there's no hotel on this Harrah's property. read more

Romana was outstanding. She was a blackjack dealer on 2/27. Very professional and curious. Really kept a good atmosphere, great pace and control of game. Never did she fumble her cards or not know what was happening. Also she dealt me the lucky ladies. Obviously fantastic. Kudos to the pit boss who was controlling the floor. read more

This review is for the Cove only - by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to. So I had received a $50 comp good for any Chester eatery, and decided to splurge and go to the Cove (the bill for 3 was $160 - which is very minimal - no alcohol, using the price-fix menu). The server was so bad there are no words to explain just how bad it was. An a simple example, we were served bread and 15 minutes later came the water and 2 iced teas we had ordered. Then came the appetiser, the shrimp coctail all of 3 medium shrimp, and chicken satay which was prepared incorrectly - its was a chicken cutlet on a stick with a mediocre sauce. Then we waited for 30 mins,,no salads...Instead, the main course arrived...cold and we were told we could take the salads to go - so I have no been in the restaurant over 1 hr, to get my nice n cold dinner, missing one of the main courses. I ordered lamb sliders - which were very good - however, they came with french fries - that had been prepared an hour or more earlier - and were soggy and disgusting - inedible. The other 2 entres werre both prime rib, which was cold, and very very tough. Then 45 minutes later after we finished, the waitress came back to see how we were doing - told her 1/2 my plate was horrid. Managed to squeeze free coffee out of this. We next ordered dersert - 15 minutes later - not arrived..all ordered the same desert. Therefore, I went to the manager and explaind how horrid the whole experience was. Got the entire meal comped. Then managed to get the dessert which was ok, and the nice and cold coffee - tasted good - but room temperature. The waitress got no tip, and the restaurant got this review. Needless to say, DO NOT FREQUENT THIS RESTAURANT. For the money I expect the service to be perfect - and not one thing went right with this dinner - which was for my birthday. Horrid Horrid expereince, definately the worst serving experience of my life. Never again! So I still have the $50 comp - I'll take 2 people to the buffet - much much better. read more

It's in a very shady area but the casino is clean. I went for poker a couple of times when I'm traveling for business. Poker room is large, I don't like the layout much but they have ample tables so it's hard to complain much. Dealers are efficient and quick. All in all a good poker experience the couple times I've been there. read more

Hello Everyone, Harrahs Philadelphia charges $23 an hour to play poker in its poker room. It doesnt state this on their website. I just want everyone to be informed of this so you can make intelligent decisions when spending your hard earned money. Thank You, Good Luck $7 a hand X 30 hands an hour = $210 divide by 9 players = $23 an hour per person. ($5 rake +$1 tip + $1 bbj) read more

We went to Harrah's casino in Philadelphia for the first time on fourth of July weekend. We will not be returning. There were not enough table games open. The table stakes were high and after almost three hours there, we still could not get a waitress to bring us a drink. My expectation of a casino is to go and play and drink and enjoy. The staff members were rude and not accommodating. Harrah's should be ashamed of how they run this location. read more

Decent place, poker room is poorly run with not enough dealers and slow to get limit games going, in you are a NL player you should have no troubles. $5 crap on Fri and Sat is nice, other table min's are way to high during the week. Limited food options. Worst part is the area, Harrahs should just buy Chester from PA and tear it down to make it more appealing to travel through. Having a prison right next door to the casino does not attract many high end clientele. read more

I love Harrah's in Atlantic City, but, in Chester they have this smaller casino/racetrack available. I think it's a bit overcrowded and though they have added restaurants, it's still not the casino experience you would get from AC. It's smokey, there are some areas that are smoke-free, but since this is a newer building, couldn't they do something with the ventilation? Yuck, nothing worse then sitting down at a machine with a heavy smoker blowing smoke in your face! The food choices here are not great. Have eaten at Cafe Napoli, they serve their salads in plastic take-out containers! The pizza is lousy, i think I will have to try the BBQ place next time. I heard the buffet is not so good, so I won't go there. The parking garage is big, but, watch out driving in there! They are friendly staff and they have added so much that's it's tight walking from the front to the back. Pretty casual, too. But, it's still nice to have a local place rather than driving an hour to another casino. Good Luck to all! I think they could make some improvements with the food options here. read more

The high-limit table offerings are pretty limited (they don't even have a single zero roulette table), and I don't think I'd want to be walking in or out of this place with a lot of cash in my pocket, based upon some of the sketchy characters I encountered in the parking garage. I didn't like the whole vibe of the place on the weeknight I was there...no excitement...just felt like a dead slot barn. Most of the food options are low-end and unhealthy. On the positive side, the ability to order drinks from the slot machines without having to wait for a server is nice. read more

I am reviewing the outside sitting area watching the horses. Totally gross. Seats are dirty! There are weeds growing between the seats and they are on concrete. Cigarette butts everywhere! I honestly don't think it has ever been swept!!! There is a top ledge where you can stand and watch horses it has names craved into it. The girls where you place your bets were very very nice. Especially a women name Sue. I hope harrahs look at this and clean it up. I like the races but not sure I will return there. read more

I went here for the first time this past weekend. At first I was really apprehensive to go because the casino is in a really run down part of Chester. But trust me it's definitely worth going and a great alternative to driving to Atlantic City. While the surrounding area is less than stellar, the casino is very well kept up and I always felt safe. There is plenty of parking in the casino's parking garage. Gambling: I am new to gambling so I don't know too much but there were LOTS of options! There were many different slots and they also have video table games. On the floor below the casino is the horse racing floor. The track is rather nice and has a great view over the river. Food: I didn't eat while I was at the casino but there was an assortment restaurants. My neighbors highly suggest the buffet! If you can find the beverage machines they're free! I found one in the back by the video table games. If you prefer alcoholic beverages there are waitresses who walk around to take your order. As a newbie gambler I had a great time when I visited the casino. While I managed to break even the gentleman at the slot behind me won $150 on the penny slots! I definitely recommend the Harrah's in Chester. read more

So let me start by saying I am not a big gambler however my wife loves to play 3 card poker. We decided to dine at the Cove at Harrah'son a Friday night (1/11/13) and we experienced a new level of service! We had been to the Cove in the past and disliked the feel. The manager was not pleasant, the staff was honestly brutal and the food was worse then 7-Eleven. This was about 3 months ago. When we decided to give the place another shot we were blown away at the difference! We were greeted by a new manager named Melissa who greeted with a smile and seated us in the dining room overlooking the water! Our sever was a young lady I Alyssa who had an amazing personality. Suggested we try a new wine (honestly don't remember the name) but it had an amazing bottle. We ordered Scallops and a Filet both melted in our mouths. Melissa checked in on us again with a smile and I explained about our previous experience and she really made us feel like we were home and that we mattered. I will say this in closing, this place is a gem and since the old manager left and Melissa has taken over there is a change for the better. Its a different place and we WILL BE BACK! A great night and a wonderful meal! read more

I am generally a poker player and this is by far one of the worst run poker rooms on the east coast if not the entire country. The floor people make decisions based on who you are rather than what the rules are. The tournaments are run very sloppily. The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. 1st example. on May 30, 2014 there was a $10,000 guarantee tournament scheduled to start at 11AM. The previous day, I asked the cage if I could sign up early and they said no which is fine. For some reason I decided to ask what time the tournament started? They said 11:30 AM. I said the flyer says 11AM. They say the flyer is wrong. I go to the floor manager he says the cage doesn't know what they are talking about it starts at 11AM. Do you think he would go correct the cage? Nope. Guess what time the tournament got started? 11:30. The morning shift looked at the computer system which said 11:30 and when it was brought to their attention that morning that it was supposed to start at 11AM they went scrambling. 2nd Example. In a cash game $2-$5NL Holdem. Player gets up and walks away from table while he has cards in front of him with action pending in front of him. Action folds around to him and dealer starts to bring in cards. He yells from 10 feet away that he wants those cards and to not fold them. Player asks floor to dead the hand. The floor says no he can keep them. Player asks floor how far away from the table can you be before the hand is declared dead? Floor responds with "down the hall." 3rd and 4th Example. One 2 separate occasions, a player had chips taken from them while they were away from the table by another player. Both occasions were reported to the floor and security. The floor just asked the perpetrator to return the chips and allowed the perpetrator to continue playing even though the victim asked to press charges. The victim was denied because Harrahs owns the chips and they are the ones that have to press charges. One case was for $100. The other was over $1500. DO NOT PLAY POKER AT THIS CASINO!!!!! Stopped going here for about 2 years, came back this year. Race track poorly designed. Winners' circle out of view of public. Infield a baron wasteland. No live bugler. Why not move winners' circle to infield, plant a few shrubs and then you would have a place where a live bugler could call the horses to post in view of the fans? There used to be a buffet where poker players could use their comps and get a good meal. Not anymore. MAJOR DRAWBACK, even if you had to walk through a smoke filled slot room to get to it. Poker room is decent. There used to be 3 tables of $2-5 NL but now usually only 1. They did add a $1-3 NL game. They should add single table sit and go tournaments like they have at Atlantic City's Borgata. Simulcast room has plenty of screens. read more

I went to Harrahs Chester, PA last night, Thursday December 31, 2009 around 12:10am. All the slot machines, can not accepted the promotional coupon that we received in mail. It was so hectic in the casino, the line in the cashier was so long and crazy. Most of the Harrah's chester employees can not handle that situation and really have bad attitude with customers. I believe this kinda like a scam, we received the coupon but cant used it. Be carefull... read more

Have been going to Harrah's Chester since they opened...Since they put in the tables I noticed that they have a lot more entertainment also, especially on Saturday night with the gogo dancers and very loud music. I play the video poker machines and find it very very distracting....That when i come home from there between the loud music and the smoke I feel sick to my stomach and my ears are ringing for a week because of the music...So bad that I will not go back there on a Saturday night...Something needs to be done with that loud music.......They should have a separate club for that kind of entertainment....It's annoying...!!!!! I have been going to Vegas for 20+ years and never experienced that type of entertainment while playing in any of their casinos - hopefully someone will read this and take it seriously..... Not HAPPY! read more

The restaurant in the Casino was updated, new napkins? So they are now charging $19.00 for a hamburger. Worst burger in the world if they were charging $5.00. Pretty clear they are trying to make up lost revenue in the Casino by charging (4) times to much for a lousy burger. read more

I was sight seeing in Philadelphia and did not see a restaurant I wanted to eat at, so I took a chance on this place hoping for a good restaurant. Casinos usually have 1 decent restaurant. I was sold on the 15 minute drive from Philadelphia. I followed my GPS over the highway sign. The sign said exit 8 but my GPS said exit 6. I ended up in an awful neighborhood. There were rundown houses, boarded up buildings, and graffiti. Theses homes were only a couple of minutes away from this casino too. I did not feel safe at all. The icing on my fear of safety cake came when I saw Harrah's next door neighbors: a prison! The prison is literally right next to the casino! One of my former college professors was a psychiatrist and he said he was offered double his pay to work in a prison. He said he happily turned it down because there was no amount of money that would get him to work in one. I remembered his remark when I drove into the parking garage. The staff in the casino was very friendly. The restaurants are spread out throughout the casino floor and the random smoking and non-smoking sections made no sense. It varied to the point where a crowded day would easily fill the non-smoking sections with secondhand smoke. I was hoping for free slot play since I do not gamble. My plan was to sign up for a card just use the free slot play and stop but they only offer a reimbursement system. You can get reimbursed on the day you sign up for up to $500 but paid back in weekly installments. Well that was not going to happen so I happily walked away. read more

The Casino: The casino and all its public areas are kept clean. The staff, in customary Harrah's fashion, is very friendly. The payouts seem fair. The problem is the patrons and clientele in which the casino attracts. During the week and day hours, it seems ok but in the evening and on the weekends, forget it. The patrons, in large numbers are downright dirty and rude. Women half dressed and guys and some gals with their pants hanging off them. After 8 pm the thumping music from the C bar can be heard over the regular overhead music and I am not quite sure what purpose that serves other than being annoying. You also have the C-Bar which boasts half naked women dancing on the bar...one step from away from being a stripper club. The other big negative is the smoke that lingers throughout. The non-smoking area is up front and when it is not real busy, it seems fine. However, during peak hours it gets pretty bad. A lot of the patrons do not even pay attention to the non- smoking areas and smoke any where they want and no one says anything to them or enforces the policy. The Buffet: Overpriced for what you get. The food is mediocre. The Chinese section usually has some good options and the rest is hit or miss. The fried chicken is good if you catch it fresh and not dried out and the hand-carved stations fair pretty well also. In their attempt to go "fresh" they use fresh vegetables but on more than one occasion, we have found them nearly raw. (Manager actually went down the line and pulled them all one night). The dessert options are pretty bad. The biggest negative is that you have to go through the smoking section to get there and the stench is horrific. Just the trip to and from will have you wreaking of cigarette smoke. In summary, I would NEVER pay actual money for this buffet and am reluctant to waste my TR Points either. We only go with a free voucher. The Cove: Pretty good meal, good staff, no negatives to report. Caffe Napoli: This new Italian Eatery can best be described as INCONSISTENT. Quality control is a definite issue here BUT when it is right, the food is good. We have been there three times now and the order has yet to be totally right. I paid $8 for a Caesar salad and the container was half empty. The pizza was half cooked once but fine the next. They consider 8 slices of pepperoni a topping. The system by which orders are placed is HORRIBLE. The whole dining process could EASILY exceed an hour during dinner. You may stand in line for 30 minutes just waiting to order and then another 30 for them to bring it to you. They really need to reevaluate their setup here. Perhaps a take-out line might help or even a touch screen ordering system for people using comps. Overall: I am a Diamond Member and patronize Harrah's properties all over and this, by far is the worst. I only live a few minutes away and still patronize Atlantic City more frequently because of the riff-raff here. You can change the name but it''s still in Chester. read more

The Cove at Harrahs always makes errors in their favor on your bill so use credits rather than credit or cash cards or cash as it is not so bad when it is not cash out of pocket that they are stealing from you. As to the Buffet--someone said eat before you come and they are right!!! The Diamond Lounge is only a hair better--I still wouldn't eat there even though it is free but would buy a drink or get a cup of coffee. The floors are smoke filled and even in non smoking areas people are smoking in front of employees but nothing is said to the smokers. Many. many machines are broken but are functional and I do believe that they are kept that way so they do not pay off read more

Harrah's what the hell were you thinking putting a casino next to a jail? The casino is really nice and reminds me of a AC casino! The restaurants are so so and nothing to write home about! Free parking, and when I signed up for a card, they gave me a free buffet coupon up to $15 (although it was closed that day, so I was allowed to use it elsewhere in the casino) as well as $25 in free slot play! THE WORST PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!!!! So tonight I went to Harrah's in Chester to see a show that was advertised as an 18+ show. We were going to the show to celebrate a 21st birthday though she turned 21 at midnight. When we arrived we were told that we were unable to enter the show because the law is 21+. I understand the law and respect it but we wanted to speak to some people to try to refund our tickets and while we were the security guards acted beyond unprofessional. They were making fun of us for trying to "brake the law" and telling every person who approached them our story on how we could not get in. We expected the manager and supervisor and a head of security and all three were just as unprofessional and rude and the security guards. Laughing in our faces and mocking us just for trying to get into a show that was advertised as 18+. THESE WORKERS ARE UNPROFESSIONAL. I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK. AND I WILL NOT SPEND A DIME THERE EVER AGAIN. DISGUSTINGLY RUDE. read more

My first time visiting at Harrah's Philly was great, I hit for almost $1200... After that, I can't say that I've gotten anything big. For someone who is a Diamond Tier status, Let alone the first aspiration level to Seven Stars (the second highest level)(or so they say) I say it's not worth it to make it to the higher status of player cards. The few things I've noticed since becoming a Diamond member these last two years is that your offers decrease, they invite you to very few events and when you ask for help on how to increase your offerings they all say the same thing (you need to be sitting at the same machiene for hours based on your play blah blah blah). For someone who spends most of her time and money at this location it's pretty pathetic how little they have to offer with the amount of money coming in each day. I feel I did alot better when I was a Gold status -- so this year I'm proud to say my new years resolution will be to not waste the money at this location as much as I've been doing for the last few years. Also, when you fill out surveys and comment boxes and they say "would you like to be contacted about your review to speak with somebody in customer relations" dont bother, because 9 times out of 10 they never help and they transfer you around many different times, sometimes disconnecting the call and wasting ample minutes of your time because they never resolve the issue (Shout out to Andrea, Brad and Brandon(the executive host at harrahs philly) who have never resolved ANY of my issues lol) On a positive note, I absolutely LOVE the security staff here. They are all very welcoming and nice --- always willing to help and glad to see you've come back. As a younger female, I feel really comfortable walking around because they all treat me above and beyond. Even though the location isn't the greatest with the security I feel protected. Notice how I said younger female so in my opinion I would be doing anything I could to keep the younger fools like myself (at least i'll admit it!) coming back and wasting the money but I guess thats just me. read more
