We just returned from here, decent hotel was happy with our stay. This review is simply based on the hotel I'm not comparing the hotel and casino jointly. We were given a free king suite upgrade due to it being a mid week stay so check in staff were great I would not expect that on a weekend stay. You have to use your key card to even use the elevator I liked that advanced security feature, clean place housekeeping did a great job. Would stay here again, also it's not expensive. read more

Have to say this was pretty disappointing. The casino was actually beautiful, but the conventions they have here, the expos... complete waste of money. I drove an hour for the chocolate expo, paid almost $25 for a ticket, only to go in there to see that every chocolate purchase you might want to make is averaging out to be $12 or more, next to no samples on any of the products, and the celebrity meet and greets they advertise don't mention that you have to pay an extra $40-$60 to even go meet them. Which is a real shame because I was very excited to meet the cast of Willy Wonka. That's one of my favorite movies, and the main reason I drove down here. Only to find myself feeling really bad that most of them were just sitting there looking at the crowd with no line because I'm sure many, like myself, weren't expecting to pay an extra fee on top of what you already paid to get into the expo. I felt so bad for them. Just a bummer. I'm probably just going to try and find something to do around the area before I go home so I can at least get my drives worth. Genuinely though it could be user error. I guess if there was any fine print, I didn't see it. Make sure you read it if it's there before you make a purchase for one of the expos here. read more

Man do I feel old. I've been coming To this place since I was legal age to gamble lol. Back in the day this used to be Dover downs before it became ballys. Which, to be honest I think I liked it better when it was dover downs. It's a pretty good sized casino. Not too small not too big. It's definitely not the MGM. But they have a few restaurants in here and the rooms are decent. My dad and I get a lot of free rooms because we like to play the high roller slots. (We've never played any of the card games or anything else that they offer. Strictly slot machines) My dad and I usually walk away doing pretty well for ourselves here. And then I like to go to sugar factory for a celebratory drink lol. They give out a good amount of free slot play and we've gotten the free cruises from here but weren't able to go. Another down side is they took the free fountain drinks they had all over the casino floor and now it's all vending machines and you have to pay for your drink. (And most of them didn't even work) They do have a spa here, but I haven't been to it YET My dad and I always win jackpots here. We had to call for an attendant to help with it. I believe her name was Theresa. She had my dad and I crying like a baby. We were making small talk and my dad told her him and I haven't seen each other in over a year due to us both having horrible health issues. After talking and parting ways, she found us about ten minutes later and brought over a few other workers and introduced them. She said that they would all be praying for me and my upcoming surgeries. I could tell they were all really caring and genuine (her and I have the same horrible condition) I can honestly say the service here is always above and beyond. Even when booking a hotel room here and getting close to the elevator so it's not that long of a walk due to our health issues. And they always have people walking around cleaning. I've never seen a dirty machine. Boy, I never thought I'd be reviewing a casino lol. If you are ever in the area I highly recommend making a stop here if gambling is your thing. They used to have a buffet when it was Dover downs (wasn't a fan of it) and they said it will not be reopening under Ballys Have fun and good luck!!! read more

Let me start by saying in comparison to the hotels in the area, this place is cheaper and on the higher quality end. It's older ofc but I loved that vibe. I got lucky and got a really good view of the downs and the cute horses. The floors require key card access unlike other hotels. The floors were quiet. The blackout curtains were amazing. Good quality soaps. Clean towels. I will be staying here again when I come to Delaware and I may even consider the other Bally's in other states. I will finish off with something not room related: the bartender last night at the sports betting area (I'm not familiar with the casino area or the names of the bars in them) was extremely rude and unpleasant. She swore around and about her customers and took her busy shift out on them. Aggressively bunched the receipts (her tips) which she didn't deserve from my party btw. Took my dad's card after swiping and aggressively threw it down on the side of the register and stormed off multiple times in the middle of asking what people wanted for drinks. I don't even know why we tipped her to begin with. She was the worst part. And the drinks sucked. read more

Nice casino in general. I am assuming this one came from Atlantic City. Came here for the 1st time and walked through the entire place. A nice slot selection. A small high roller room, but it's definitely worth dropping a few dollars in the HR room. The tables are really good. And they seem to be pretty generous as I played. We stayed here 11/17 & 11/18. Let me start off by saying stay somewhere else! There's a reason the rooms are so cheap. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in and my husband felt the same way, they don't clean your room unless you stay more than 3 nights and the rooms haven't been updated since they built the place. There's also no room service. The restaurants are less than subpar. We ate at the steakhouse and left hungry because it was so bad. Stale bread, thin 16 oz ribeye and dry caprese salad. New Breakfast Restaurant: Walked in, shoes stuck to the floor, but the space was clean so just too much soap left on floor. Had to get up and ask for my coffee after placing order. Food came fast and was extremely good. So a mixed bag. At Harrington casino even if I lose, I get free soda, so probably skipping Bally's next go round. read more

This hotel and casino are newly renovated. I mean, maybe a few years now or so. But I will recommend this place. We booked a last-minute thing for a hotel, and it was like 12:30 am. They still accommodated us and the front desk Elizabeth was nice. She even gave us a pair of toothbrushes when we asked. The room was clean and spacious. The lobby was very elegant, and the casinos were clean too. Plenty of slot machines to choose from. The only setback does not have numerous real tables open. My daughter wanted to swim and relax for her birthday.... That's all The rooms are nice enough... The fitness center was crawling with kids playing on the equipment with no supervision...someone threw up in the pool...we wanted to check out early but were denied a refund. Taking her to Killen's Pond to swim! Nothing is open in Monday or Tuesday to eat if you want fine dining you will not get anything upscale until Wednesday! No information in the rooms about the hotel. The Hotel TV channel doesn't give very much info. I'm never come back here again! The hotel is beautiful, all of the staff were helpful and kind, the food was delicious, but one of the main reasons I stayed here was to use the Jacuzzi in the morning, and it was out of service. I asked when I made the reservation about the Jacuzzi & they said it was working, but it wasn't on Sunday, February 2, 2025. This was very disappointing to say the least. We've been visiting Delaware for years. The casino has free parking (free sodas) and has a well lit parking lot. There is a strong security presence (just like Maryland Live & MGM). The hotel has valet parking, but we use the self park. The area is safe and constantly monitored. Self parking is across from the hotel entrance. You can drop off a guest at the entrance if you don't want to schlepp your luggage from the parking lot. A bellhop can also take your items in a luggage cart. Check in time is 4pm but sometimes rooms are ready early. If not, you can store your luggage and visit the pool or casino. Off peak dates are the next times for having more accommodations. The pool is a decent size. The jacuzzi & pool area close at 10 pm. If you want a towel large enough to cover yourself, bring a beach towel. Otherwise the pool has medium sized towels that will do. There is a locker area ( bring your own lock) but I always keep my bag by the pool. There is a small gym with treadmills, weights and exercise balls. I always request a room facing the track. The view is beautiful even when there aren't races. You can watch the races from the viewing stands, or your room if you are facing the track. The casino has several restaurants. I have visited most of them. Frankie's pizza is decent. They also have live music. Fire and Ice bar has free bands on certain nights. The event schedule is on Dover's web site. Unless you are attending, the dates to avoid visiting the hotel would be June (Firefly Music Festival) and NASCAR. The hotel has a contract with Coachella for Firefly and all the rooms are booked with expensive fees (in 2018 the room rates were $2000+, before Coachella bought Firefly). The festival buffet is okay. We like Harrington's buffet better. Even if you don't gamble, sign up for a free club card since it will give you $2 off of the buffet. If you are staying for two nights at the hotel, you can sign up for the "green program." If you don't use house keeping, you can get two free breakfast buffets on the day you check out. I always bring a blanket and double check my toiletry bag so that I don't need to ask for items. The business center is a bit depressing. It looks like a library closet without any funding. However it is open 24 hours and you can print 10 documents for free (.10 per page after that). The buffet is either crowded or quiet. The buses bring loads of people to the casino. The breakfast crowd seems less stressful after 9am. The restaurants are another option. Dover also has several restaurants almost within walking distance of the hotel. There isn't a hotel convenience store so bring any first aid items that you might need with you. Walmart is just a few miles away. The mall is within view of the casino. There is a theater and a bunch of department stores with no customers. The front desk staff are kind and accommodating. Any time I've had an issue with my room (smells like smoke, something not clean) they have fixed the issue right away or moved us to a different room. Bonus points for the free coffee in the room & free newspapers at the front desk. read more

You must be kidding! Apparently the hotel was just sold and that's not a good thing. Pull up in front with your car and wait for the valet. It won't happen. Drove back up the far away self parking lot and schelp your stuff inside. Now, if it's before 3 pm you can get on line in the cattle queue to register and get your room. Early birds are not allowed! Oh, forgot to tell you. There is no laundry service or room service. Just got up the room after the 45 minute queue. Furniture is out of date and beat up. I asked for a quiet room; this one is right on the race track. My nightmare has just begun! read more

Used to love going to Dover downs to play the slots. This past November we received a nice amount of free play, so went often. Fast forward to December, still have free play, decided to go yesterday and discovered my players card wasn't working. Went to the desk for assistance, in a nutshell was told because I won a lot of money using free play but didn't put it back in the machines (kept majority of the winnings) my account was placed on hold. The hold was removed (we had free play to use at the time) but was told if I continue to win without putting the winnings back in it would result in a 90 suspension. The husband and I took an impromptu trip to Dover for an overnight trip to commemorate Resurrection Day and to cap off his off from work spring break week. This casino was a first for us, as we usually travel to Western MD where we he enjoys the casino and I the spa! While the spa was closed, I found a good time in the Royal Prime restaurant bar. I met a new friend whom felt like an old one, as we had so much in common. We laughed, ordered apps to share and I turned her on to my favorite! You guessed it, Appletini! The crab fritters and chips and dip were extremely good as were our drinks! The right amount of pucker to vodka ratio. The bartenders Jared (sp) and Travis were also very good! They laughed at how I and my new friend meshed for having just met one another. Our room was awesome, clean, and comfortable. My family & I visited Bally's Dover Casino Resort last weekend. We were not impressed at all. We used to visit frequently when it was known as Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. The service has gone down tremendously. All amenities are gone. There is no complimentary valet parking, room service or late night food. Bally's is too big of an enterprise to allow such conditions. I would've thought they held themselves to a higher standard than what we experienced. It was much better before the switch. Being bought by a bigger entity surely isn't better. It's the usual cutting corners for a larger profit and we as customers can tell. I'd give it zero stars if I could. We won't be back but I doubt big box Bally's will care read more

This was our first stay at Dover Downs Hotel and Casino. Wow, upon the opening the doors it has a pretty impressive grand entrance. Love the chandelier and beautiful white columns that surround the the entrance of the room. I had to point that out because in fairness it was really beautiful. Okay just to point out some of the Pros: the entrance as I'd mentioned, the staff are friendly especially Tromaine and Tom. The beds/pillows were amazing, nice gym, the parking is right next door and freeeee ! Nice perk huh ! Rooms are spacious and overall hotel is very, very clean. Nice view of the Dover Speed Racetrack and an indoor small but nice clean pool. Okay now for the Cons: little choice of restaurants unless you go outside of the hotel, gym has an empty vending machine. I told the front desk a day before that it was empty and they never refilled the machine. So gym users, bring your own. The shower head squirts out what seems like 3 drops of water. Housekeeping was never done. We only found out because I had to call to inquire why the room hadn't been cleaned. The front desk staff never told us about the housekeeping rules. I informed the front staff and they told us sorry for us 'dropping the ball'. Honestly this was unacceptable. Why not just tell us when we checked in? Makes sense for us to know at that point. Another lapse in communication was that a Security guard told us the coffee shop is opened daily but in fact it's not. It wasn't opened for two days. Some of the hotel staff seemed to be lacking communication skills amongst each other and communicating information to the hotel guests. In addition, I was given a map of the hotel and noticed a typo of the word 'Restaurant'. I pointed it out to the front staff and the woman said 'Wow nobody has ever noticed or pointed that out to us before' Again, just a bit more communication? Would we return again? Nope I don't think so. Would we recommend? Yes but consider what we'd mentioned above. read more

This is literally the ONLY bustling part of the entire city of Dover. You will see more people here than any part of town. 1. Food options - not so good. Barely 3 stars. Based on the menu, what would have been their best restaurant is not open, maybe due to covid, not sure. The best they have now open is Jerry Longos, which is still not that good of a place. 2. Slot machines - they have a lot of them, so have at it if it is your thing, have at it. 3. No other services available here. There's no valet Parking the concierge greeted us and told us there is no valet parking. Didn't offer to take Bags in when walking into main lobby. There's no seating. It's very cold and uninviting. There's no coffee to grab in the morning or in the evening you have to go all the way to the other end of the casino. The rooms were substandard places gone downhill since it was Dover Downs elevator was dirty. signs were crooked and some are missing hallways were very dusty. The room wasn't that clean very dusty in the casino itself. One bar charged us nine dollars for a drink. The other bar charged us seven dollars. Then I went back one girl charged a 650 then another girl charged us 750 so what's the deal? The only good thing about the whole thing is we won money and went home with money but would've stayed longer and would've went to eat and one of the restaurants if we enjoyed our stay, but we didn't won't be back to stay ever again. read more

This was a quick overnight for us. The customer service was awesome. The older gentlemen was super helpful. The men at concierge were also very helpful. Front desk staff were nice. My biggest issue was the $50.00 fee to check in early. That is completely ridiculous. We have stayed at very nice hotels, and resorts around the world and never experienced this. Vegas does not do this, Atlantic City does not do this. I travel for work often and never once have I had to pay to check in early. If our room is ready when we arrive, they let us in. Period. This place has a prorated early check in fee. Madness. The rooms are really dated and the bath towels are small but it served our needs. The bed and pillows were comfy. Two mini bottles of water were in the frisge. That size was a bit odd to me. I have not seen that anywhere. The steak place was so so. I had the surf and turf. The steak was salty and so was the lobster. My husband's 16oz was meh. The Mac and cheese was ok. The creamed spinach was good. The thick cut bacon was good but it had way too much fat on it. Like half of it was fat so we did not have much of it to enjoy. The crabcake was good, the lollipop lamb chop was good, the French onion soup was fabulous. It was my favorite dish of the night! Our waiter was awesome. Drinks at Sugar factory were good. You can never go wrong there. Customer service was great! We had a good time playing slots and the table games. If we are in the area again, we will likely stay here but I doubt we will make a trip specifically to visit. read more

The first thing that I noticed when I stayed here was that half of elevators didn't work causing a long line just to get to our room. Found our hotel room to be old and outdated. There was an old refrigerator in our room that kept me up all night because the compressor in it was so loud. I tried to wash my hands in a second floor lobby restroom before going into the Hotel restaurant only to find it was locked because it was out of order. One would think that a hotel/casino making millions of dollars a year would be nicer than this but I was completely disappointed. Speaking of the casino, it was no better... since this place became Bally's, the slot machines have been absolutely rigged to the extreme so that all they do is take your money without any regard for fun or fairness. Steer clear of this place, you'd be much better off going ANYWHERE else! read more

I like to come here around Christmas time because they have the prettiest Christmas tree and sometimes live entertainment. Dover Downs Casino was the most lackluster casino Interior I've seen and the tightest slots ever played. The lobby was nothing to write about or even take a photo of and the layout of the casino floor could use some updating. It had a very old feel and not in a classic way. The player card didn't offer any initial free play until you got to a certain point level which we never reached and we definitely dropped a few dollars. Not a very good experience and we didn't have fun and left feeling robbed. read more

Room was clean and quiet. I wasn't crazy about the check in where they make you wait since you can't get in early without a fee. I had to wait on line for about 10-15 minutes in order to check in. I find this bad customer service since they make it costly to check in early. Don't waste your money on the slots. We played poker and the machine miraculously got a better had every single time. Didn't hear or see anyone win anything substantial in the two days we were there. Just a lot of zombies sitting alone playing the slots, losing every time. If no one ever wins anything, they won't go anymore. The algorithm of those slot machines must be made to make winning anything nearly impossible. I didn't even get an extra buck out of them. We didn't play much as a result. Food choices were not too great. No vegetarian options and all overpriced. I think they remodeled the hotel so the rooms seem nicer than past reviews state. But NO Microwaves! That caused us to cancel our second night and stay elsewhere. We want to heat up our leftovers. Probably will never go back. read more

I planned a trip here for my Mom & Uncle's 70th Birthday celebration to include 36 family members to stay over night at the hotel and dinner at the Sugar Factory. I made arrangements thru my so called Casino Host for the hotel part months in advance and everything was completely wrong it took an hour to get me checked in and same with the Sugar Factory. it was very disappointing as we LOVE this casino on a normal basis and my mom drove all the way from Myrtle Beach SC to spend her Birthday here. read more

Been coming here regularly for the past 6 years. Wife and I smoke. Never a problem as they did have 2 small smoking sections or we just went inside and played. We're not THAT addicted. Bally's added a large expansion to the one smoking section. They now advertise that they have the largest outdoor gaming area in Delaware.They actually do have the largest. However, whover was involved in the planning or budgeting for this expansion decided to leave out a few items. You have a large contingent of elderly and disabled that use the smoking sections. When they did the expansion, they did not add any heating or air conditioning in the area. They had to bring in spot coolers over the summer because it was baking in the section. Now that it is winter, people are bundling up and carrying blankets around to stay somewhat warm. Don't know why they decided against adding at least some HVAC in the area. We have been to LIVE in Baltimore and never had an issue in the summer or the winter in their smoking section. Seems like they want the money to keep coming in but did not want to expend the money for customers comfort. read more
