After a quick walk around to see if any new machines installed or relocated; I located quickly my favorite game, Video Poker, from IGT. Before I started, I went to the small Cappuccino Café and got a Latte with a cinnamon roll. Bouncing between standard games like Jacks or Better, Deuce Wide, Bonus, Double Bonus, Double Double Bonus Joker, I focused on my video poker strategies. No Royal Flush or Five of Kind, or other big hands today. Ended the session with a small win. Not bad, to start a new year with a positive trend! Wife did better with her slot machines. She skipped her Crazy Money Deluxe and played Railroad Riches - Sherriff. When she switched to Railroad Riches - Tycoon and within half hour, she got a bonus free spin and got over a thousand dollars! Normally for New Year, we have our late brunch or late lunch at Lucky Mi Noodle Shop or EE TO LEET KE Grill, but we decided to leave the casino as soon as possible! A great way to start the new year for us, a little action and fun!

The property is beautifully decorated for Christmas, which adds to its charm. One reason I love…read morevisiting is that many areas are designated as non-smoking! Although it's located in a relatively remote area, it's less than an hour from Fort Myers and about 90 minutes from Fort Lauderdale. Ok, the reviews for this establishment are all over the place so let me give you the straight…read moreskinny from an experienced sort: This place is located in a place that is going to make certain folks uncomfortable. That might be precisely why the reviews have been all over the place. It depends on one's tolerance to that which isn't poker as seen on TV. It's not particularly dangerous. At least not more so than many gambling locations that aren't fancy, high priced, casinos. This place isn't one of those and isn't trying to pretend it is. It is basically an off track betting site that has a poker room on its second floor. However, to get to it one has to drive through minority neighborhoods of a city that has seen better days to get to an isolated bit of what use to be a jai alai stadium [they still have about two weeks of jai akai a year here as it is a legal get around required to keep the off track betting and poker room open, otherwise it would drop the pretense altogether]. That is going to put certain folks off, but... that's poker folks. If you only know true mid-to high stakes gaming poker as a television show or in higher end casinos this place isn't going to be to your liking. It's a little bit sad because there are people playing with the rent money [same is true for those high class casinos but its not as obvious], there aren't going to be attractive people in theme uniforms prancing about looking to cater to your appetites [massage, food, drink, etc]. That's not the origins of poker though. Those are hard tack saloons and small clubs, frequently with seedy origins, back rooms of pool halls stuff. As such this is in keeping with poker, old school. If you want something bring it with you, or pick your butt up and go to the bar or vending machine to get it [and pay for it]. You'll park in a big enough lot. There will be a Saint Lucie County Sheriff's car parked in in, perhaps. Maybe not. They provide onsite security for the place. At least they did the night I was there. This was a Saturday night at around 730pm during March, the height of the busy season in this neck of the woods. Couldn't have been more than a dozen would be handicappers working the automated OTB machines, looking for a pre-Easter miracle trifecta The place is truly on life support. The men's rooms are badly beaten and smell of urine. Not as bad as the Port Authority in mid-July, but noticeable. You climb the stairs to a second floor poker room that is half empty. The tables are workable but old, worn, don't have shuffle tech machines [or their equivalent]. The dealers shuffle. There is almost always one person working the cash-to-chips, chips-to-cash window. Dealers and other staff are friendly. The place is mostly locals and they all some to know each other by name as well as face. The hand shuffling gives the play a slower pace and add that to people who see a lot of each other makes this a bit warmer than many other cards for money places. Though most of the talk is about poker and who won/lost what where. If you are either a poker purist, familiar with Russian card rooms in Brooklyn for instance [or any of their equivalents many other places], or the player who looks for scared money, this isn't going to feel strange to you at all. The loose, casual, affiliation and the slight smell of desperation in the air of people playing cards for money when they can't afford to lose, in places that are in the more run down areas of town, this is going to feel well known and familiar to you. If your looking for poker the way it was played yesteryear, before "Poker After Dark" and WSoP coverage on ESPN... Like i said: That's poker folks. Not flashy casinos.

Rake is pretty high here and the place is currently under renovations but a decent spot to play…read moresome poker in the area. I walked in and almost walked out because the downstairs resembles an abandoned building. The poker room is upstairs (through an old elevator). You walk in and it's honestly a run down room that needs a lot of work. Although, they did keep telling me they are renovating and building a bar, etc. It's not bad to just play poker, but something about this place made me wonder what it would be like walking out at 4am. There is a cop who is stationed in the room, even when I was there from 12-3pm. There's currently a bar which is the one waitress manning a folding table with alcohol. She works her ass off and I think she did great. This is def not a true casino but I found it an okay spot to play for a few hours while on vacation

About once a month she would decree she wanted to play Bingo so off we went to this joint with the dutiful son pushing the wheelchair! Arriving- They are on Main Street in a tiny plaza 200 yards off US 27 North. On popular days attendees monopolize all the parking places much to the dismay of the neighboring pizza place! On those days, parking can be a challenge! They are open most every day. Ambience- Wild and crazy, mostly elderly folks having a great time and occasionally screaming BINGO like they just won a new lease on life. A sprinkling of sons and daughters like me looking like they'd rather be sent to the 7th level of hell or maybe they were there already! They don't call it a Bingo Hall for nothing because it's just a big room with tables and chairs and of course the caller's station. There is a kitchen with food, mostly fried, and drinks available for purchase. It's strictly non-smoking and every so often they call a smoke break where the addicted stagger outside for their fix. Cost- It's hard to tell. It's like a casino. There are all kinds of different Bingo games, single and multiple jackpots, progressive games, games with crazy rules etc. I'd make sure my mother had $25 cash in her purse, and she could play for hours and have the occasional drink and snack without taking out a 2nd mortgage! Customer Service- Sometimes the elderly need a little help, especially the games with non-standard rules. These folks were wonderful! It is what it is. Some people will yell that it's gambling and treat it like it's an illegal drug, but I say it's a wonderful diversion for folks that are finishing up their life. Sadly, my mother passed away but wherever she is, maybe there is a Bingo Hall!
