However, they let me know they couldn't replace the battery because (after checking their system) they couldn't reset the computer after it was done. Fair enough! I tried to figure out how to get my now again un-startable car over to Autohaus (great experience there, too!) myself. An Advance Auto Parts staff member came out while I was trying to figure out the best way to get it started and where it needed to go next, and asked me how it was going. When I let him know I was still having trouble, he offered to jump the car himself. He did, spent 10 minutes on that when he didn't have to, and that was what I needed to get on with my day. I didn't even buy anything from them, this time in. Truly great service. After this experience, I'm not shopping anywhere else but the Merrimac Trail Advance Auto Parts for my car. A short baldish 30 something year old put the tester on the battery and said my alternator was bad (car only has 53000 miles). Since car wouldn't start I asked for a jump as I had my own jumper cables. He said no "sorry your day isn't going well." Got a friend to bring their car there and quickly jumped started. Took car to local dealer who tested the battery and it wasn't holding a charge ( only 80) and the alternator was fine pushing 13.7 volts. Had the dealer replace the battery. This Advance Auto Part employee had no idea what he was doing and the other two there didn't care. He also said clicking sound when turning the ignition was because of the alternator which is complete BS As that sound is the starter. I will never use this place again and will tell everyone I know about this shoddy business.

Auto Haus failed my annual inspection, citing tires that had worn to 1.32. I get my tires from another company in town and so I ordered two new ones. That company, upon learning the reason for my new tires, measured my existing tires. Turns out my tires measured well above FOUR and did not need to be replaced in order to pass inspection. Needless to say I had my car reinspected with them, with the existing tires. Auto Haus response: "How we do it here is we check all around the tire tread and take the lowest value we find. Tire tread depth will always vary on the tire so to be safe we always take the lowest value. Some shops may do it differently but that is just how we prefer to do it to make sure the tire never reaches to where it may wear to the point of failure on one part and not another." So if you have your car inspected at Auto Haus, know that they do not follow state inspection standards, they follow their own. Instead of offering servicing recommendations, they may use their own standards to fail your car.

Fortunately it did not fall completely off till I got into her driveway. In a desperate search for help I started at Carroll Automotive. They were very helpful. Sent me across the street to John Jordan at Sideline Automotive. There is no sign but John was there. I cannot say enough positive things about the man. Fixed the car in 15 minutes. Reassured me I had not lost my driving skills and sent me on my way. NO CHARGE. Even though I was clear that I was from out of town. He could have charged a minimum hourly rate. That's what they do in the big shops. Thank you John. The car looks perfect. The rest of it will fall off before that part.
