Yes, five stars. I had a very, very old car. I'd been using cars.com to get notifications of sales on the car I had in mind, a newer (but not new) Subaru Forester. An amazing deal kept popping up for a 2017 Forester, very nicely equipped, fairly priced and wicked low mileage at this dealership. I finally bit the bullet and notified them, via email, that I was coming in to test drive this one. Minutes after I dropped my email, Kathleen called me from the front office. I told her I'd be by within the hour. My wife and I showed up and met a wonderful sales person, Courtney. We instantly clicked and while driving the car, I said "this is the one I'm buying". This was around 10am. My very old car wasn't worth much (I knew this going in) and we got $500 for my car's trade in. Courtney said if we wanted this car, she could make it happen....today. So we left a deposit on our credit card (for the points of course) and headed to our bank to get a cashiers check for the rest of what we wanted to put down. Courtney called at 2:30 asking if 3pm would work for a pick up. Yes, it works. So 6 hours after driving this car, it was mine. She was FABULOUS, no pressure and honestly, felt like a friend when we left. (we hugged--who hugs their car salesperson?)- I guess I do, when it's someone as comfy and sweet as Courtney. read more

Very dissapointed! Service department is lost!!! This visit was the straw that broke the camels back, we won't be going back. I'm tired of being taken for a fool. My smiles can only last so long. How do we go from a $6,000 service quote to $600 just overnight? We had to inform the service dept. of the recall. Once service was performed now with the new diagnosis the car just didn't run right. Took the car back, this time we were told it's a $2,500 repair, so again we told them about a warranty, and again suddenly we no longer needed this service. We received a new call and we were given a new and different diagnosis for something minor for $200. My question is what if I agreed to the first quote, would they pocket the $?. My other car was there twice for 2 weeks, still didn't sound right, so we took it back, at which point they kept it for a MONTH. Emissions I requested was never done in the 3 visits, the balancing and alignment I paid for was never done, because as soon as I got on a highway my steering wheel vibrated at 60mph. I took it to Town Fair and finally got it corrected. There were always excuses and BS which I have no time for. Time to move on. read more

They gave me a fair price for my trade in and a fair price on the new truck. This is my eighth new vehicle and I've had some bad experiences with other dealerships. We did not need a third car (as we have already have 2 cars) till summer (when my older son would be back from college). But, Bolt EV was having great discounts and we decided to buy the car. We also knew that their was a $1,500 CT state cash back that one could get for the car. We gave a price that we were willing to pay for the car. The price was accepted immediately. We confirmed a couple of times that we will still be getting the CT state $1,500 cash back. The salesperson stated that we would be entitled to that money when we file our taxes. We went to sign the papers. One of the papers stated that the price of the car includes the $1,500 CT state cash back. They were giving the dicount to us when they agreed to the price of the car and they will get that money back. So, we felt misinformed as the price that we had agreed on included the $1,500 CT state discount. We should have walked off. We had already started signing the papers. I guess the subtle pressure made us complete the process of buying the car. I did not expect that a car dealer would ask us to sign papers to give the CT state discount of $1,500 to them. I guess next time I will be prepared to walk off when a car dealer does something similar. read more

I originally 'ordered' a new pick-up from NW Hills Chevrolet in Torrington, CT. However, due to problems with the manufacturer 'not' being able to deliver one in a timely manner, I started my search for other new pick-ups, that would be available on a lot. I called several places and found one I was interested in purchasing at O'Neills Chevrolet in Avon. It was a 2022 Chevy Colorado. It was used, but only had 8,200 miles on it. I offered my vehicle as a trade-in, which according to 'KBB', was valued between $8,500 and $10,250. My salesman, C.M. went to his boss about a price, and at first 'Low balled' me at $5,200. I told them that it was unacceptable, as I had already investigated the trade-in price on 'KBB'. We went back and forth and finally agreed on $7,500. I asked the usual questions one would inquire about when buying any vehicle and one of them was, was it 'undercoated'! My salesman told me YES and mentioned that they also have it done in Hartford. Since it was already done, I declined a 2nd application. A few weeks went by and I crawled under the truck to check out the underneath and found that it was NOT undercoated! I called C.M. back the same day, but was told he was currently busy with a customer and would call me back. He never called back that day, so I called again the next day and was told he wasn't in yet, but that they would "light a fire under his a_ _" (I can only assume that people looking to buy are his top concern and not people that have already bought, since he already has the commission he made on me). So, he finally called me back and we 'discussed' what I had noticed, that there was no undercoating, and he denied ever speaking about it. If you want to negotiate with an honest, upfront dealer, I would recommend that you do not go to O'Neills. It seems once THEY make the sale.....YOU can forget customer service! Between them 'low balling' me on my trade-in and then being deceitful about it being undercoated, I am extremely dissatisfied with their sales dept (to say the least)! I walked in they took care of me immediately, The sign said they only took cash but they let me use my card anyway so I didn't have to leave and come back, and it took less than 10 minutes for them to finish everything. I have been buying cars from Sean and Kevin Sullivan since 1989 for a reason - they are extremely trustworthy, easy to work with, and completely focused on their customers' experience. I recall buying my first new car from Sean Sullivan - a bright red K-1500 Blazer after seeing it at the front of the dealership. I just finished picking up a 2014 Chevy Cruze. All their facilities are newly renovated and state of the art - with customer lounges, Wi-Fi, coffee, etc. The O'Neill's renovation across the street from the Avon Congregational Church the most recent - fitting in perfectly with the historic Avon town center. When buying a car or truck I don't even need to shop around - I tell them what I am looking for, I come in and sign the paperwork, and off we go with no surprises. I have bought and leased Chevys, Buicks, as well as Cadillacs from the Sullivan Auto Group at both the Avon and Torrington dealerships. I live in Avon, so when I buy a Cadillac it is ready for me to pick up in Avon - a great convenience. I can have my cars and trucks serviced at either Avon or Torrington - again a significant convenience. When my wife has difficulty linking her iPhone, she simply stops in and they do it for her. I don't think these kind of personal touches exist at other dealerships. My sales rep, Emmerson Corbin was very knowledgeable andhelpful, never pushy. He returned my calls and provided answers to question that I had. This was both before and after the deal was done. Emmerson introduced us to the management team. They were friendly and seemed very down to earth. They made exceptions to the normal sales process which made the whole transaction easier for me. Three experiences here in the past year on the shop side. Two of the issues were a challenge to diagnose however the tech's hung in and got it right. A bit frustrating but appropriate. Clean shop, all the right tools and equipment. Tech'sare good to work with and willing to explain not only what is to be done but why and how as well. No sense of being "upsold". Saturday hours for service. Somewhat expensive however you get what you pay for in this case. Quality OEM parts, experienced tech's and reasonable turnaround time. read more

In January of 2014, I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned 2011 Buick Enclave from Sullivan O'Neill's in Avon, CT. I scheduled an appointment on September 9, 2014 to have the air conditioning checked and to have a safety recall issue taken care of. I had four months left on the warranty. The air conditioning was making a whooshing noise and was not cooling well. I got a call from Ray Pelletier, the service manager, a while after I dropped off the car. He said that a mouse had built a nest inside the AC unit. He further stated that this would not be covered under warranty, that they would have to take the whole unit apart to get at it, and that it would cost well over $1000 to do this. They did not have time to do it that day. When I started to use the air conditioning this season, it again made a whooshing sound and did not cool well. I brought it to Gallagher Buick in New Britain. They found that I had a bad actuator, which would have been covered under the warranty. They found no evidence of a mouse nest in the system. This cost me $549.47. I complained to GMC, who contacted O'Neills. They first tried to say that I refused the diagnostic on it. This was ridiculous. I made the appointment specifically to have the problem fixed. Then they said they wouldn't cover it because the warranty had expired by the time I brought it to the other dealer. My error was in trusting the service manager when he told me it wouldn't be covered by the warranty. If I had not, I would have brought it to another dealer over the winter months. I had no reason to do so until the spring because I thought it would not be covered. I am extremely disappointed with Sullivan's customer service and would never use them again. read more

Completely disappointed with the service department at the Chevrolet dealership. We purchased a truck from them a year ago, Courtney in the sales department was wonderful and everything about that was picture perfect. Currently we have had issues with the service department. They are playing the price is right game with us. One minute it's one price the next minute it's another, all because of their mistake initially. If this is how you treat your customers, shame on you. We will make sure we go elsewhere next time, lesson learned. read more

Purchased a new Chevy Bolt (100% EV) last week and was mostly pleased with the buying experience. After reading several reviews on-line I walked into the dealer one afternoon and engaged the first salesmen, Alex, who I happened to come upon. There was a Bolt on the lot available for a test drive and hatchback cargo capacity. The sales pressure was thankfully somewhat low key and I was able to leave the the dealership in less than one hour with a preliminary estimate including a trade-in. Alex did make a follow-up call the next day which was fine and after a few more days of my own research I set up an appointment to finalize the deal. I was able to get the price closer to what was actually being offered on-line and got a a bit more on my trade-in value although I was a bit lax in that department in accepting a value somewhat lower than the bottom range of the quoted on-line trade-in value. Also, after the vehicle was purchased I was then asked to purchase an extended warranty. I wasn't about to spend another $1000 on this after having already "sealed" the deal. Besides if the manufacturer's 3 year warranty is not sufficient this will be the last GM car I will consider. My previous Nissan and Toyota vehicles required very little maintenance and certainly did not require any major repairs once the original manufacturer's warranty expired. As a result, I would recommend including any desired extended warranty plans in your initial negotiations. Finally, I am very pleased with the vehicle. It is a welcome relief to have 250 miles of range on a single charge compared to my 2013 Nissan Leaf's range of only 80 miles. Also, as with most new vehicles these days, I can now connect my phone's navigation apps directly to the dash display screen (Waze, Google Maps...) using the Android connect feature. I can now comfortably drive on the highway (at highway speeds) with the AC going. No more range anxiety! Nice job GM! read more

I will never return to this Chevy Dealer. I took my car here to have them read the codes (the check engine light was on) they took almost 2 days to work on this task. They returned my car to me without "finishing" (they had absolutely nothing to report to me about the code readouts) charged me $135 and the manager told me that they could finish if I brought it back again and that it would be free to finish. When I called a couple days later to make an appointment to do this, I spoke with the manager and he said I would have to pay A SECOND $135 to have the code reading finished. Considering their performance on the first attempt and the mounting charges with ZERO service actually rendered, I declined and took my car elsewhere. IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO USE A CHEVY DEALER IN THE AREA, PLEASE USE TERRYVILLE CHEVY. They read my codes FOR FREE and ACTUALLY PERFORM THE WORK you ask them to do, in an EXTREMELY timely and pleasant manner. My family has been using them for years. Never had great confidence in this service department. Felt like they kept putting me off when I would make them aware of issues with my vehicle. I was recently charged $110 just for them to diagnose an issue which I think is outrageous. Then they didn't have part for repair but said if I wanted job done I'd have to pay close to $1800 upfront for part not knowing when part would be available. Unfortunately the vehicle I bought is a lemon. Word to the wise, do not EVER purchase an Equinox. Took car to another repair shop to complete job. read more

Our new Chevrolet Camaro burns oil and O'Neill's Chevrolet (where we bought the car) says that it is normal for Chevrolets to use 1 quart of oil per every 2000 miles. I think if any Chevy dealership puts a big sign out that their Chevys only burn 1 qt of oil per 2000 miles, no one would buy one! We should never have spent our hard earned money on this car. I had to put 2.5 quarts onto the car before the first oil change! Of ourse this car requires the fancy Chevrolet licensed Dexos oil, which sells for about $10 a quart. The owner of the dealership has yet to call me back about this - should I wait a couple more months for the call? read more

I would not recommend bringing your vehicle for service at O'Neill Chevy in Avon. I noticed that I was charged for 5 quarts of oil when I got my oil changed. I brought this up to the service advisor because in the owners manual it states that my Impala only takes 4 quarts. The advisor stated that they always put 5 quarts of oil when they change the oil in an impala. I asked the advisor to show me the oil level on the dipstick so I could make sure it was ok. We checked the dip stick level and it was too high. The advisor stated that this was normal for my car. When I responded that it was not he stated, "Why don't you become a technician then?". I have never been treated with such disrespect before. I immediately asked for my car. The technician made a mistake putting too much oil into my car. This can be bad for the internal parts of the engine. I was lucky that I caught this mistake before it caused any serious damage to my vehicle. This informality could have been handled in a professional manner by the service advisor. Mistakes do happen but when they do I expect as a paying customer for them to be corrected. read more
