My husband and I went to O-Ku to celebrate a late Father's Day. I had to book two weeks out to get a Saturday evening reservation, however when we got there it looked like there were plenty of open seats at the sushi bar or the other bar for walk-ins. Our server was Irina - very knowledgeable and kind. My husband got an old-fashioned (he said it was tasty) and I ordered a Sakura Delight! Loved it!!!!!! Here's what we ordered....In order of favorite to least favorite. Everything was excellent! Black Magic (squid ink rice, box press), Firecracker sushi roll, Hamachi Carpaccio, Florida Man sushi roll, Otoro Spoons. My husband and I absolutely love sushi and so we were so excited to try this place. It did not disappoint. It was definitely an elevated "sushi" experience. The bill was just over $200 before the tip. We already are talking about which of our friends we'd like to take with us next time. Oh, I almost forgot... The food was phenomenal. The Black Magic sushi lived up to its name--mysterious, flavorful, and possibly cast a spell on me because I'm still thinking about it. The Otoro Spoons were a fun little adventure--like sushi shot glasses, but fancier and way more delicious. But the real MVP? Lee. This guy knew the menu like he wrote it, directed it, and won an Oscar for it. He made everything smooth, easy, and somehow elevated the whole experience just by being on point from start to finish. Came here last night with a group of 8 to celebrate a couple special occasions and all I can say is that it was definitely worth the drive! It was a 2 hour drive from Pensacola and I can guarantee you..I'll do it again. The Setting: Breathtaking. Not only is it located in a beautiful plaza, but as soon as you thought you've seen beauty, it only intensifies when walking in. As soon as entering, you're greeted with delightful smiles from the staff which created a welcoming feeling, as well as being surrounded with the soft touches of teak wood, beautiful rattan fixtures, and soft warm lights and candles. The tables are elegantly prepared and seating is not overly packed, the fact I can tell the owner takes pride in the aesthetic presentation has already won me over. The Service: The staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu which was pretty impressive considering the business has only been open for about a month now, but that also gave me confidence in guidance of the menu and deciding which direction to take my taste buds in. (Huge thanks & shoutout to our server for the great service!) The Menu: Is it too much to say that I'm still thinking about it? With our group, we decided to do a little mixture of family style as well as individual ordering. I can confidently say after trying more than 50-60% of the menu, everything came out excellent. A few of my favorites were: For the non-raw eaters: Truffle edamames, chilean sea bass & the black magic. For the raw eaters: Crispy rice, otoro spoons & you can never go wrong with their nigiri/sashimi selection. Desserts: We enjoyed the Ube w/white chocolate drizzle as well as the Soy w/caramel and dark chocolate drizzle soft serves, the chocolate mochi ganache cake, mango sherbet, and mochi ice cream. Everything was delicious, but my favorite was definitely the Soy caramel soft serve w/chocolate drizzle. Sweet, salty, light, and dairy free? Uh, yes please! My only complaint? Just went here for my mom's birthday with family. The atmosphere is nice, and the service was good. But the food was not so impressive. Most of us got the kaisen fried rice, and none of us were impressed with it; for reference, it's lobster and crab with fried rice for around $50, so you'd want something good for what you pay. The peanut coconut miso sauce on it tasted strange. We also got the karaage, which had a tomato-based sauce on it that was really strong (I was not a big fan of that either). Other than that, the only redeemable factors were our server, the firecracker roll, and the miso soup. Also note, there was a $2 "Arts/Entertainment" fee. Not sure why it was included since the only real "entertainment" was music playing over speakers. read more

Our server, Lee, was probably the most knowledgeable, fun, and best server we've had at a sushi restaurant. The menu was unreal. So many different dishes and unique flavors. Lee suggested things I wouldn't normally order and I'm so glad he did because everything was delicious. Highlight was the dessert at the end. I think it was Ube ice cream? Wow! What a great new upscale restaurant. Perfect fit for Alyce Beach and the surrounding area. We were attracted by the interior design, exquisite decor, relaxing atmosphere and romantic lighting. We were quickly impressed by the service when the hostess greeted us warmly, and it only got better as we were treated like old friends by our waitress Kristen. The food was amazing. Honestly this place needs to tighten up the ship. We've been several times, and it's just very inconsistent. First we get a salad with no dressing, then we receive the crispy rice app (which we've had several times prior) with literally the saddest amount of fish on top- miniscule for the price and ratio to rice. Then my husband receives his entree 25 minutes before I get mine so his is cold by the time I start eating. When making my reservation, I added that we were celebrating graduation (college) but was not expecting anything to come from it. When we got to the restaurant there was a card on the table congratulating us and when we opened it up it was signed by the entire staff. As we started eating we were talking about the app we wanted while our waitress was standing there waiting for us to make a decision and we ended up choosing a different thing. 20 minutes after, our waitress brought out the app that we were debating on as a "gift on the house for our graduation".
