This is one of our little secrets in Franklin, so don't tell anybody! O' Be Joyful is tiny- so small and usually busy that you may have to slide in sideways. Don't be afraid- slide on in and find a seat at the very cool concrete bar. The lighting is enchanting, the music is spot on and not over powering and the conversation and care by the bar staff is warm and friendly- not rushed at all. And then there's the food! It's a burger place so enjoy their spin on pimento. Peppers and more. It's all good. Enjoy this find! read more

This is a small bar with just a few tables along with the seating around the bar itself. My friends & I were delighted to see that they had the vegan Impossible burger on their menu. We each ordered one from Anthony, the bar tender, who was also the waiter and the server! But I have to say that he was very efficient at all three! He was also visiting with everyone at the bar as well as everyone at our table - very personable & friendly. He had a talent for making everyone feel welcome and 'at home', and genuinely made an effort to make sure you were happy with your orders. Our burgers came with house made chips and was delicious. The buns were fresh and nicely toasted just to make them warm & soft. We enjoyed every bite and will definitely come back the next time we visit Franklin. read more

We were going to have dinner there. Stopped in and got seated. We then noticed that no one working there was wearing a mask as mandated. Nor were they following social distancing one bit. We didn't notice until after we ordered drinks. So one drink and gone. Not following Covid practices at all. Disappointing. Really wanted to stay there and have a meal and drinks while feeling safe read more

1 Star for the cool decor. Sadly our party of 3 did not get to sample the food or drink. We waited 10 minutes for a server to come over, he requested ID and when we said our 17 year old would not be drinking we were Informed that it is 21 and over after 5pm. So we had to leave. This info is not on the Yelp info nor on the Website - not helpful. read more

The Good: A fun stop while in downtown Franklin!!! A great selection of whiskey and a good beer and food selection. Ambiance is cool and conversations were great. I had a great old shot and a beer to start, added a snack and another IPA. Staff was knowledgeable about all spirits and beers. Pride of work was evident. I'll be back! read more

It's better than the semi-Acadian joint that used to fill the space, but this is a burger joint on Franklin's Main Street. Enjoy your average burger knowing you're paying rent instead of paying for great food. What is it about this slice of time where mankind seems unable to exist without yet another burger joint? Another whisky joint? Oh, be puzzled! The fresh fries are excellent. The Average Joe burger was tasty. The bacon-wrapped jalapenos were a waste of Benton's bacon. If you want good burgers, these are O.K. Your mileage may vary, but there's too much competition in the low art of ground beef on a bun. Avoid the jalapeno appetizer unless you want an endless chew that even Brer Fox might consider proper substitute for a tar baby. You can get a good beer and better whisky just about everywhere these days, but if this is where your backside lands, well, order up! Note to chef: Benton's is overused in the market. It's applied badly on your jalapenos. Instead of re-selling Benton's success, why not focus on developing a dish that shows your kitchen's ability to excel at something as straightforward as bacon? Benton's is thick and because of its cure is difficult to chew if not crisped. Your stuffed jalapeno recipe leaves us with a mouth full of soggy bacon and a greasy hand filled with naked peppers. Not joyful. You may as well fill your peppers with toothpicks soaked in Benton's grease and save a few bucks. Yes, the meaty experience was like chewing wet wood. Wrapped peppers need to be biteable all the way through without a wrestling match. To deliver joy in every bite you need a fatty wrap that can be bitten in place and joyfully chewed. That goes for bacon burgers, too. # # # read more

Came in for a beer but after chatting with Jillian we had to try one of her master mixology cocktails. Fun bar with bartenders that know their stuff. Had nachos and some queso which was ok. Not here for the food. read more

I wandered into this bar while walking in Franklin. I'm so glad I did. I ordered a lemon drop, and it is the best lemon drop I have ever had! The bartender, Kristian, puts his heart and soul into the drinks. Its worth a stop. read more

Been awhile. But best burger and bourbon in town. Jillian and crew are the best. Recommend mid day stop or late night !!!!

Holy moly that was a great burger, one of the best I've had in a while! Really great mixed drinks as well, will be coming back soon!

Rude bartender, who may of been the owner, not sure. He was confrontational, pretentious, and had no remorse after shouting a disrespectful comment to me across the entire room and full house of customers as we were leaving. We came in to use the restroom with full intentions on ordering a drink afterwards but decided against it after the bartender began pounding on the door literally as I closed it. While waiting for my friend to finish I sat down, perplexed and taken back as to what just happened. I no longer felt welcome so we opted to go someplace else. Upon leaving he hollered, hope you enjoyed the restroom. I walked back in and addressed my concern, asked him how does that make his heart feel speaking to guests in such a manner and he stated he didn't give a damn. I told him I'd pray for him to which he replied I hope you have a terrible day. I will never return to this establishment nor recommend this place to anyone. read more

Very small place. Seating includes bar chairs along a pretty long bar, a few seats against the window and a 2 seat high top. There are a few seats along the back wall with a narrow shelf to put drinks. We ordered fried pickles....amazing! Probably the best fried pickles I've had. I ordered the pimento burger. It was pretty good. The bacon jam was a little sweet for my taste but I should have considered that first because it usually is. But the burger toppings needed more dressing. It was fairly dry. Some mayo probably would have helped. I did like the burger patty. My bf got the steak sandwich and liked it well enough to get his leftovers to go. Also, they have a ton of alcohol selections. I would have really liked to see more specialty cocktails on the menu. There were only a few. Overall, not bad but not sure it'll be my go to place for a perfect burger. read more

Tried to order online at 10pm since it said they were open till midnight . No go. No phone number to call so we walked over got there before 11:30 with a decent amount of guest in the restaurant with chairs up on the tables and we were rudely told that they were closed when it clearly says on website and social media that they are open till midnight. So sad. read more

For a place with "Joyful" in the title,  I've never seen a more consistently unhappy group of bartenders.  This establishment has potential, however the service is remarkably slow and they don't add much cheer to the atmosphere.  I have witnessed countless customer walkouts and from the attitude it seems to be rather common place.  Laissez-faire and "mixologist" style bartenders don't really coincide.  I often wonder how much money is being lost because of the inability to get drinks out at a reasonable speed during peak hours. Good product, horrible delivery. read more

The bartenders will let you have 2 Miller high life's after letting you sit on them for more than 1 hour each drink and then kick you out after you make sure your tab is closed because they ignore everything you ask. Would not recommend for anyone especially anyone that is out of town read more

Spent the evening enjoying the food, drinks, and bartenders were delightful. We had a jalapeño poppers, hot dog, house salad, chips and queso. Everything came out quick and was really great. Reagan (our bartender) has an fabulous ability to mix out of this world custom drinks after asking just a few questions. The patrons were friendly and it was a great environment overall. Will definitely be back! read more

Stopped in to try a burger based on excellent reviews. I was not disappointed. It was freshly grilled and cooked perfectly. The veggies on the burger were crisp and fresh. Fries were crisp but.l not overdone. I'll definitely go back to this place!! read more

New place in franklin. It's a small bar and burger place. Bartenders are nice. It's a very good casual burger place in downtown which was badly needed. Burgers are amazing and fries are crisp and fresh. My only complaint is that the music is alittle loud. I would highly recommend this place. Come at off times for best oppty to be seated. Very limited and first come first serve basis. It's a true upscale bar. read more

One of my current favorite spots for both work lunches and date nights. The burgers are always made exactly like requested and the cocktails are on point. They also have a strong whiskey and bourbon selection read more

It's expensive for a burger and fries, but it is good. Only two beers on tap and they don't come in a pint glass--it's more like a high ball glass. Bartender swears it's twelve ounces....but the same bartender also up-charged the folks next to us for vermouth in a martini ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ read more

Great cocktails, great burgers and a great playlist. Mostly bar seating, which I don't mind, and the environment is very enjoyable. If you're in Franklin, check this place out! read more

Simple & sweet! I enjoyed the environment and the great selection of cocktails, straight whiskey and surprised to find a great selection of beers. I'll be back many times especially when the whiskey flights become available. The food was really good too. The only reason I didn't give it 5-stars is because they didn't have my absolute favorite cocktail and beer...hot toddy & Guinness. Just sayin'. But, I'm still a big fan!! I loved this place...a great addition to Historic Downtown Franklin. read more

Love this place! Found it by chance for date night last night. Micah was very knowledgeable and able to perfectly pick a flight for me and for my husband based on our different tastes. Will definitely be back soon! read more

This place is small - you would almost miss it right next to Grey's if you didn't know to look for it. It's worth finding though! The burgers are incredible! If you're looking for an unhealthy, juicy, flavorful, perfect burger, this is your place. The cocktails are wonderful, though a bit pricy. Worth it though! Service is fantastic. It's one of my favorite spots in downtown Franklin!! Love it. read more

Now that Nashville is no fun anymore this place is the whole vibe. The 2 bartenders they have are incredible. Fantastic tacos, burger are solid and a great whiskey selection. It's fun to come when it's dead in the middle of the day and the bartenders will hang with you or leave you alone. Just remember no kids after 5. Had to get my 15 year old a fake ID just cuz I was craving the fries one night read more

Great food, great historical atmosphere with turn of the century building in downtown Franklin...I went on the cusp of total life shut down with the 'rona so can't speak to the crowd but the bartender was very amiable and nice. Very knowledgeable and has an old world apothecaric vibe where they had make all their mixers... including their tonic which the bartender was more than happy to walk me through and explain as he was making it. read more

Bartender was making crushed ice drinks by putting cubed ice in a napkin and smashing it with a wooden mallet. And he has a rockin beard Done. Oh. And they have a great bourbon selection, reasonably priced 2 oz pours, and solid burgers in a cool, if small, joint. read more

Dropped in for a quick brew to get out of the heat and ended up ordering chips and guacamole and an impossible burger. First of all, I was visiting from So. California- about 40 miles from the Mexican border so we have access to the best Mexican food there is. But I have to say the guacamole here was among the best I've ever had- anywhere. 100% freshly made to order with Jalapenos with just the right amount of seeds left in, lime, yummy chunky style (not overly blended smooth-ew!). The impossible burger according to my vegan daughter - she said it was great and had those same fresh jalapenos on it. Great place and super friendly bar service. read more

The food is delicious. The drinks are great. I have no complaints. I usually don't order hamburgers when I'm eating out (more of a grilled chicken fan) but they nailed it. I created my own with bacon and it was perfect for me. A little crunch but not overdone. The mint julep was good too. I will be back. read more

Cool aesthetics for a shotgun style bar. Wasn't a fan of the bartenders...pretentious.

I was very disappointed in this place. I waited for several minutes at the bar to get a drink. Ali, the bartender, was very rude and didn't even know how to make my drink. This is the worst bar in Franklin. read more

One of the best old fashions I've had in Tennessee. Great whiskey/bourbon selection. Bartender has great taste in selection of flights. Chili hot dog comes in shy to second place if any I've ever had in my life (first is hands down Daddy's Dogs in Nashville), but this is nothing to be ashamed of on this establishment's part, considering their purpose is not a hot dog specific restaurant. Definitely check them out. read more

Relatively new establishment in the heart of Downtown Franklin. The establishment is quite small on the inside but has a cozy feel. Best known for their burgers and whiskey, I treated myself to the Jalapeno Burger, Fatboy hotdog, and old fashioned which is top-notch. I highly recommend their French fries but their homemade house chips are a quality substitute. read more

If you like whiskey options, this place is definitely for you. 200 of them. Burger was really good. Wings were tasty but the buffalo sauce wasn't near spicy enough. The salad dressing choices are somewhat weak as well. Overall a good place though. I'll be back next time I'm in Franklin. read more

Whatever drama you all got going on behind the bar, you'd do well to keep it behind the bar. Tonight everyone in the place felt the cold, uncaring, vibes in the place. O' be joyful, my ass. We came in joyful but left dragged down by unapologetic poor service, and staff threatening to clock-out. We won't be back. read more

O' Be Joyful is one of my favorite spots in Downtown Franklin but I have been very disappointed in the way they have handled the COVID-19 pandemic. The bartenders do not wear masks and there are no social distancing guidelines implemented the bar, which is already small. Chairs at the bar are very close together and there are no mask requirements, as well as no apparent measures taken to sanitize tables or menus after use. Also, music is extremely loud and it is hard to hear and staff is not warm or friendly. Will not be returning anytime soon. read more
