I came in for an oil change only to be told my valve cover was leaking oil. I replaced all the parts as my service salesman Dorian suggested along with a new set of spark plugs. I decided to wait at the dealership. Five hours later, I left w/my car now sputtering/hiccuping at each stop light. I called Dorian & he advised me to come back. Dorian was quick to get my car in and I was out of there roughly 30 minutes later. I drove home only to find out AGAIN it was STILL performing incorrectly - maybe not as bad but still sputtering. This was not an issue when I drove in. I called Dorian again and he asked once again if I had time to go in. It is now almost 4pm. I was not about to go in for a 3rd time. The issue happened to be an ignition coil. This back-and-forth caused a significant inconvenience including work time lost, the cost of fuel and toll charges for the multiple back and forth trips and added stress driving a vehicle that was not performing reliably. I contacted manager Wayne and Luis for an inconvenience credit but since they fixed these parts w/no added charges to me, no credit was given but a free oil change on my next visit. At 440pm I called to find out it hadn't even started to be looked at. So took Lyft back from work, and picked it up. Not sure what the point of an appointment is. Dealership posted an SUV on web site and quoted the same price of $68k on the phone. So, we drove 45 mins to see the suv and were the first ones there. All during the inspection and test drive of the suv, the price was understood to be $68k as quoted. After running my credit - and during financing, they arbitrarily added $5,000 to the price of the suv, saying they had too much other interest to sell for $68k. Slimy, unethical and frustrating "business" practice. We will NEVER buy anything from this dealership. read more

Then had to take the truck right In cause the steering wheel was pulling to the left. Service place had it almost 4 hours and did nothing. Now there is a deep scratch on the mirror and the check engine light is on. They are wanting us to bring it in and they don't have a loaner to give us. My other car is in the shop for hail damage. Josh, Alex, and Michael were great for the most part. Josh (New Car Sales Manager) in specific was the most helpful in the buying process. He confirmed some information I read online and if not for him I would be sitting here waiting for my order to be built and at the 80 day mark. I even got my Yukon Denali in a color that i would probably never have picked my self, but have fallen in love with. Alex was great and even secured us a loan at our banking institution with a great rate. He's a no-bs finance guy, and a stand up guy at that. Michael was really helpful and got me in a test drive really quick when I first stopped in. Got my vehicle ordered, but the chip shortage hit us in the face. The only negative I can say about them is if you tell someone you will call them back or get the information they requested, follow through. 48 hours+ of radio silence is not cool. An excellent experience. I located this dealership online as I searched for a certified pre-owned vehicle. I read over the other reviews on Yelp and most of the negative ones centered on their service department. One of their sales professionals, Martin McCoy, reached out to me and facilitated a smooth, transparent, and fair purchase of the vehicle (2014 Jeep Wrangler). Martin was courteous and accommodated all of my requests as I asked several questions over the phone/text/email to get a better understanding of the vehicle. Nyle Maxwell offered a free CARFAX report of the vehicle, which I appreciated. After a test drive and some negotiation on price, I said yes. The price was fair, the vehicle was in good condition and accurately described online. Martin assured me that Nyle Maxwell GMC stands by the vehicles it sells. Although I am optimistic that the vehicle will not have any maintenance issues, Martin did not hesitate in assuring me that Nyle Maxwell will take care of the problem, within reason, should one arise. I did not offer a trade-in, I financed separately through my bank, and I paid some cash down. Once the deal was agreed to with Martin the overall paperwork to walk out the door with the vehicle was about an hour. I had my 2004 Yukon towed to Nyle Maxwell because it wouldn't start. Told them I thought it was the starter or alternator. I got a call later that day telling me the battery terminals were dirty. So they cleaned my battery terminals, replaced a (one) windshield wiper blade, changed my oil, and replaced a power steering pump shaft seal. $528.12, and they were trying to get me to pay $1500.00 for a 100,000 mile service. Nyle Maxwell labor cost was $402.99 I brought the vehicle home and parked it, that was the last time it started. Then had it towed to interstate transmission and auto repair, they changed out the starter and serpentine belt, the car runs great now and cost me $800. $101.37 for labor. I visited Steele GMC this last Saturday. I looked at a truck and test drove it, then decided to work a deal on it. I had a trade and we finally agreed to a final price that would be financed. At this point I'm working with the sales manager and he carries the deal over to finance. After about 30 minutes he comes back over to me and says that he hasnt gotten a response yet , probably because it was so late in the evening. He then said that we would finish this deal on Monday morning. Monday morning came around and I havent heard anything from the dealership. At 2pm in the afternoon I decided to call my salesman and his response was "let me go check and I will call you back". When he did call me back he said that the (my) vehicle had been sold "about an hour ago". What the dealership doesnt know is that I monitor my credit, all three reports, and get inquiry notifications in real time. I had one inquiry on Saturday evening, and nothing on Monday morning. Anyone that has ever purchased a vehicle and monitors their credit knows that several inquiries always show up on their reports. I had one. The dealership literally sold the vehicle out from underneath me. We had a deal and was working it. They did not ask for a deposit to hold the vehicle. I have perfect credit and adequate income, so thats not the issue here. I cannot say that I will be back to this store, nor can I recommend them to anyone. If they do respond to my Google rating it will probably be along the lines of another salesman sold it without realizing there was a pending deal in process. Buyer Beware! I got here looking for a truck, they had one that really fit what I needed. I've been in sales all my life, and I was very honest with the salesman, TOBY TURNER, who claimed to be in New Car sales, but just helping out, came to help us. He claimed to have taken the vehicle in on trade, and told a great story. I really thought the guy was being honest with me, because again, I showed my cards right up front with pricing, financing, etc. We agreed that I would let him know that day if it was a truck I wanted to buy. I called him back and said that, if the truck was still available, I would come buy it from him. Keep in mind, he told me they had NO WIGGLE room on the price, after all - he took it in and would know. The only reason I came in was because he somehow found $2500 in price reduction to sell me the car. Fair enough, but once we agreed on price, he told me to come over he'll have the truck ready. I was there in around 30 minutes and when we showed up, he told me they had sold the truck, "But good news, I have another truck for you!" We had already told him we weren't interested in the same exact truck, and sadly, we were bait and switched. Not only did I feel like an idiot driving back out there, but I felt like I let my guard down with the car salesman hoping that he didn't fit the typical stereotype. I worked the business, and I know that it is LITERALLY impossible to sell a car in 30 minutes if it's financed, which it was. The deal is, he knew it was going to be gone, his sales manager knew it would be gone, and they had me and my family come back any way. I found this through the USAA car search. I liked a 2016 Chevy Sonic that had ~44K miles, decent mileage, and good features for any car in it's price range. I was looking for cars under 10K and it was a good deal, the best I found anywhere in the area, so I was suspicious. We showed up and I noticed that it had a cracked windshield, several scratches that went through the paint on both sides of the vehicle, and a small dent. There were other parts of it that were dirty but appeared like they could be cleaned up pretty easily. Our salesman Martin agreed in writing to fix all the issues for us, including windshield replacement. The dents and the scratching are still visible, but they made some effort and I'm satisfied. They also offered a free warranty on powertrain (with $100 deductible), although it only applies if you fix all oil and transmission leaks on your own. My parents pointed out that the powertrain almost never breaks but it was a nice sentiment. They also cover your first oil change and 2 tire rotations (I think, or maybe just 1). Most of the bad reviews on here were from people dissatisfied with repairs here. I found all of the people I spoke with to be nice and accommodating. I felt like they genuinely had an interest in getting to know us a little bit and weren't just pushing a sale. I would not be surprised if several bad reviews were people purchasing a used car with over 100,000 miles that is guaranteed to need some fixing. They do a general test on safety features, lights and the engine before selling. Make sure you also test windshield wipers, A/C, heat and all other features during your test drive. If anyone cares, the only extra I decided to get was the coverall because it's insurance on all interior damages and it prevents liquids from absorbing in the seats. My insurance doesn't cover any of that and on my vehicle it lasts for 4 years. It will keep my trade-in value higher if I switch cars in a few years, so I felt like it was worth it. I decided to wait a few months before reviewing this dealership to be sure that there was nothing wrong with the car and the only issue I've had is with a vanity mirror falling off. Martin even helped me switch the spark plug to my cigar charger, so I can't complain about the quality of service. He also obtained black car mats for me, because they only had brown at the dealership when I purchased the car. It's this kind of consideration that makes for a great buying experience. I am pleased with buying my first car from Nyle Maxwell GMC. For used cars, go to a refutable dealership like this one. Don't go for the bulk used car lots at Carmax that all exceed 60,000 miles in the under $10,000 price range; those places upsell used cars that are rarely worth the price. I didn't see any other 2016 cars with a mileage under 50K during my search in Austin. I would buy from Nyle Maxwell GMC again. read more

OMG where do i start? We came here this past weekend to look at a few GMC's here. My fiancee has purchased his truck here in the past and has always enjoyed it. I am on the fence between buying another Toyota or joining the GMC family. After visiting here I completely ruled out GMC as a whole. We came here and visited with a Decker. We completed the test drive and went inside to "look to see what he had". To him that consisted of walking back and forth between his cubicle desk and a glass room behind us.. 2 or 3 times. (*still no vin# list with prices, nothing? ) hmmm. shouldnt you have a list of your inventory in the computer? Part 2. Then he proceeded to have us fill out a document entited "survey"... This was not my fiancee's first rodeo at this place and said the last vehicle he bought there they kept him there for HOURS to the point where they wore him down... and finally just signed anything.. (kinda sounded like the recount of a police interrogation on the first 48 hours on A & E if you ask me..) My fiancee luckily had the foresight to ask what it actually was, and he muttered its a loan application.. Whoa.. TIME OUT. Flag on the play. No. We never said we were buying anything.. we said we were coming to see what you inventory was. The last GMC dealership we went to the guy was organized *(see my review for GMC Cavendar (NORTH) (San Antonio, TX) for a guy who actually had it together. At that point I lost all hope in what he had to say, offer and didnt want to do business with him. Ive been sitting here for 20 minutes and we still hadnt heard what was in stock. Last guy already had his list printed out, Vin#s, prices, year moldels, drove us out to the used lot (while we were in the new 2014 model) just so we could see all our options all within the first 20 minutes of speaking with him. I have had nothing but issues since I purchased my new truck there. With only 5K miles a sensor went out and they told me that I would have to leave it and that it could take weeks, or even months. They refused to provide a loaner, or a rental car. Even though I purchased a brand new truck, they told me too bad, that I would have to figure out tranportation while my vehicle was there in the shop. Worst service I have ever had to deal with. Purchased a used truck from NMGMC. Tire sensor was on and was told it was just a low tire. Service dept was closed, so we went with it. After going to multiple tire stores, we were told the tires were fine, and it's just the sensor communication. Took it back to NMGMC and they have no clue. Said we would have to leave it, as they have to tear into tires. Buyer beware..should have known better than to walk away with warning lights on and "it'll be ok" from salesman. Attempted Sales experience only. Saw a used vehicle listed on their web site as well as on Autotrader. Decided to call first to check availability before heading over for a test drive. First call to the Internet manager number listed on the web site - no one answered the line so I called the main dealership number and was transferred to Used Cars. I gave the guy the stock number and price. He told me that his manager told him there was an error on the web site and that the price was off by $9000!! However, he said a trailer of vehicles had just arrived and that he'd check what had come in and would call be back in 10 minutes. A couple hours later, I called the listed Internet sales number again and spoke to a different fellow who said he was busy and would call right back. So a day later, haven't heard a word from the dealership (and that supposedly incorrectly priced car is still on their web sites). I suppose the good thing here is that I didn't waste my time driving over to the dealership over the "incorrectly priced car." Sometimes you hear about dealerships accused of "bait and switch" advertising where an unbelievably low priced is listed to lure walk-in's. I hope that wasn't the case here! read more

*This review is for the service department* Since 2013, I have been to Nyle Maxwell over 20 times to have my vehicle serviced. Of those, approx. 75% have been either below average or really bad experiences. I will not fault them for owning a GMC that inherently requires expensive parts for repair. However, I can say that their service has left much to be desired. In the past I have had a complete headlamp assembly melted by the service tech only to have to argue with them to replace it on their own dime. I have also been put in situations by the service manager with the warranty company in which I am stuck with additional charges. On my most recent experience, I had a knocking in the front passenger side tire well that needed diagnosis in addition to the oil change. The repairs are now entering their third day and I still do not have my vehicle back. I had to pay out of pocket for a rental for two of the days, then returned the rental only to find out that the repairs really were not complete as I was told. I called the first afternoon and left a message. I did not receive a call back so called again the next day and left another message for a return call. The service manager gave me a loaner for the night since I had absolutely no ride, but the alternative would probably have been to taxi or uber home. I am not happy with their response as I feel I was left out to dry after making arrangements to have the repairs completed. Just to make matters worse, this was all after a scheduled appointment. Imagine what their communication is like after a drop in... If you are looking to purchase a vehicle, it may be a nice place to patronage. However, DO NOT have your car serviced here unless you are ready for headache and continual problems in addition to a business who rarely does what is best for the customer. If I were Nyle Maxwell and my name were on this service, I would be embarrassed with the complete lack of follow-through, communication, promptness, and customer-centered service this shop provides. read more

My father has a medical condition that does not allow him to wear a mask. After informing the staff of this condition, they continued to harass & berate him for not wearing one. He has purchased several vehicles from this dealership- we will not be making that mistake again. This is America - not a communist 3rd world nation. Horable customer service. I will never buy a car from them again. I avoid even driving past their lot because it was so bad. They did nothing but lie. We were preapproved and had a loan secured and very specifically told them not to run our credit and the manager even wrote on our lone paperwork "WILL NOT RUN CREDIT" We got an alert the next day they infact ran our credit. The car was making noise hours after we got it. They told us to bring it back and they would fix it. (Still in the buyers remorse time frame)The held on to it for a week. We got it back and it was still making noise. No one would return our calls for a few weeks then the person who called back was terribly rude and laughed and said they weren't fixing it. Mindy in Service is awesome! Several weeks ago we had some issues with water leaks with all the rain. Turns out that our model has some issues with water leaking around the sun roof and Mindy was sympathetic about our problem. We were able to get the car in late that same day. The next day I received a call from Mindy about the problem and the plan of attack. She also had details about what the extended warranty program was going to cover. She even offered a loaner but since the weekend was coming up we told her that we weren't going to need one but would set up the rental coverage for the following week if the job was going to take more than a few days. Set up the rental agreement on a Monday and got the call Tuesday morning that our car would be ready. Never once had to call her with an update as she was in constant communication with us.
