The subway is depending on perspective an arduous task OR a fascinating opportunity to test out your directional and navigational skills. The reality is despite all of its downsides it is generally the fastest and cheapest way to roam NYC. Apple maps makes navigating the MTA transit system a breeze. This was not a social visit and most of my business was in Queens. However, I needed to get a vital record and for that I had to head into Manhattan. Having nothing else to do till I got the death certificate, I decided to make a dry run to figure out where the place was, how to get there, and make sure i could get back to court on time the next day. I was lucky in that I was not heading here during commute times so it went smoothly. It is right under city hall with easy access to the Brooklyn Bridge and other spots in that area. The station was large and as with most on the dirty side. However, its a major hub so there are lots of trains and connections are easy.

The problem is the bad memories of trying to use this station during peak hours when I would be called to Jury Duty. This stop is close to China Town, Battery Park, TriBeCa and more. If you're not careful you'll end up in Brooklyn. It's old fashioned and I hate/love it. Don't go during peak times is my recommendation. Unless you work there.

He scanned our ticket and we boarded. The bus was pretty full, so we ended up sitting separately. The above head storage bins are kind of tight, so I had to take something out of my over stuffed backpack to manage to wiggle it in. While my purse sat on my lap. I liked the foot rest and the hook on the handle on the seat in front of me. Trash bags were hung here and there. Looks like they also provided small bottles of water for us, though we had to grab those ourselves. The electric plugs didn't seem to work, but perhaps the ubs plugs in the ceiling did. Our driver was a great communicator. He set expectations so we knew that we had a 20 min rest stop before arriving at Baltimore, and pointed out things to help us to pay attention and to get back to the right bus. He warned us that given current construction that we were sure to arrive later than what our tickets said, and gave us his best eta given the circumstances. Another passenger later commented that the bus bathroom was clean. We kind of ended up being dropped off on a brightly painted bridge in the middle of no where - perhaps on Maryland Ave?, by a bus stop. A short walk from Penn Station.

Terrible experience! Our group of 32 people waited for over…read morean hour in the rain for the bus to arrive. The bus that finally arrived was a 20-year-old beater. The transmission was bad, the alignment and suspension were shot, and the bathroom door did not latch. The suspension was so severely degraded that it audibly bottomed out on road bumps, causing motion sickness among multiple passengers. The transmission could not maintain speed on inclines, making the journey slow and stressful for everyone on board. The windshield wipers were so worn they could barely clear rain from the windshield (a serious safety hazard). Overhead storage bins would not latch, risking items falling on passengers, and the lighting inside most of them did not work. The spare tires were stored in a luggage compartment and had dangerously little tread remaining. We paid Rally/OurBus for what we were promised would be a newer luxury coach with ample luggage space and modern amenities. Instead, we got an old bus with no electrical outlets, damaged seat upholstery, and a bathroom that reeked before a single passenger had even used it. They sent us a vehicle that should not be in passenger service. When we sought a refund, we were bounced between Rally/OurBus (the broker) and All Aboard Express (the bus company), and now neither company will return our calls. Save yourself the headache and book elsewhere!

I mostly go to the front of the platform the J going to Jamaica since the front of the platform is much more bearable. The end of the platform got a lot of smokers. J trains take forever to come compared to the 4 and 5 trains, which come like every second. Sucks that the J trains take forever. Got so much anxiety and impatience waiting in this train station. Also sometimes the train is packed when the previous station is Broad Street, the last stop on the J train. So why is the J train packed with no seats at Fulton?!?

My stop is Utica Ave, there are two sides to exit Fulton Park and Utica Ave that connects you to the B-46 bus. I get out on the Fulton side that leads you to Fulton St and Stuyvesant Ave across the street from Boys and Girls High School, adjacent from Fulton Park. There is no token booth, no one for customer service, and seldom NYPD available, however it is anything but grimey (that's Ebonics for dirty) and the four kiosk are always working but please be advised some mornings these kiosks do not take dollar bills. This exit is well lit and clean. The murals are a stationery to the culture of working class people and youth that attend neighboring schools that access the A/C trains daily. 4 stars because the MTA tore down our Token Booth. Welcome to Bed-Stuy.
