My wife visited for a blood test ordered by OHSU and was met with unprofessional behavior. An elderly female phlebotomist repeatedly talked over her, insisting that a printed requisition was required--even after verifying that the faxed order was sent by our physician days ago. Additionally, the billing process was confusing and inflexible. She refused to process our insurance, repeatedly asking if we were paying the lclient." When we clarified that our healthcare provider's insurance covered the test, she still insisted on billing the doctor. This experience left us feeling undervalued and frustrated. I hope this feedback prompts improvements in customer service and billing practices.

It was my first time there, walk-ins are ok, but the entire day was booked with appointments. There's a sign that says you might wait up to an hour if you don't have an appointment. He came out and announced to the people waiting that he had started the day with computer issues so he was a little bit behind, but he would fit in walk-ins as soon as he could, which was really helpful because I wasn't sure how long to wait around. Then he came out again and announced my name just to say that I was next. It was really, really nice, and although the place was full of people waiting, I only waited about 20-25 minutes.

I had a bunch of lab tests. Had to bring in various biological samples. When I got the collection…read morecontainers I had to present my ID, insurance cards, etc. I watched them enter the info into the computer, just as I had watched the receptionist in my doctor's office enter it moments before. I was told I had to have an appointment to be allowed to drop off the samples. Seemed odd, but ok. I couldn't be sure when I could collect the samples, some of which were time sensitive, so I collected the samples before trying to make an appt. When I tried to make an appointment there were none available for the time-sensitive materials I had just collected. Now What? I tried to call to ask what I was sposed to do. First I was dropped into the general Legacy Health System where I was on hold for about ten minutes listening to a long message "if this then that, if that then this, if the other thing, then the other, Covid information, Covid immunization information, if this than that again, etc. etc.," finally got to select the number for my need, where I again waited about 10 minutes, again sitting through "if this then that, if that, then this, if the other thing, then the other, Covid this, Covid that, etc. etc., When a human finally answered I was transferred to the lab where once again I sat through "if this then that, if that, then this, if the other thing, then the other, etc. etc.," for another10-12 minutes. No one from the lab ever answered. Since I had already collected the specimens I decided just to drive to the lab before the clock ran out. I hoped someone with common sense would accept them. At the lab no one seemed to care that I didn't have the mandatory appointment. They asked for all of the same information they had entered into the computer less than 24 hrs before. I explained the confusion I'd experienced when I couldn't make the mandatory appointment in time to meet the lab deadline. The receptionist said, like I'm a little slow "well, if you have a specimen to drop off you don't really need an appointment!" I suggested it would be helpful if there was a note adjacent to the online appointment link stating that lab specimens could be dropped off even if no appointments were available. The receptionist shrugged, said he has nothing to do with that. This is the first time I've dealt with the Legacy system. I liked the new specialist I saw, I was thinking about becoming a Legacy patient. Nah. Can't get through on the phone, told an appt was required, but couldn't make one, and staff who are unconcerned with the patient's experience in the Legacy system. I sure hope Legacy lab staff's systems and personnel are more responsive than I experienced in my efforts to get there.

Another day, another diagnostic test at Rayus Radiology! Not how I want to spend my time, but seems…read moreto be in the cards for me, unfortunately. This was my first time at this location, and honestly thought I wrote the adress down incorrectly because I typically go to Rayus on NW Savior, and sometimes the one off of SW Walker. Each location provides the same basic services, but for some specific tests - catscans, ultrasounds, MRIs, or biopsies - you have to go to a specific location. As has always been my experience with Rayus, this visit was fantastic. Friendly, welcoming and efficient from the check in process to the technician conducting the diagnostic test. No wasted time. In, out, done. Oh, and it's easy to get appointments within a week or two, no booking 4-6 weeks out. For these reasons, I always tell my doctors to write the referral to Rayus and not Providence or OHSU. Unfortunately I'm a regular, but it's comforting to know my experience will always be easy and stress free. Plenty of parking out front including handicapped spots.

Kaiser sent over my referral and the scheduler called me the next day. Checking in was easy but here came the paperwork. The same questions that were asked when scheduling but pages and pages. This would be helpful if it were a streamlined process that can been filled out online. This was a very clean facility and well run. The tech that took me to the back was very helpful, informative and thorough. We got through the MRI without a hitch and now I wait for a few days up to a week for results to be read by the Kaiser doctor. Overall a very good experience.

Easy, no appointment necessary, for lab work, part of the Providence network…read more After a doctor appointment on the first floor, the doctor requested lab work. I assumed I needed to head up the street to St. Vincent's Medical Center or the East Pavilion, but the doctor said, just go up to the 2nd floor and give them this paperwork. I said, 2nd floor of the Medical Center? No, just take the elevator up one floor. Note, building is in the process of getting painted so there were no signs (4/8/24.) After walking up and down a long hallway with no success, I stopped in a pediatric office and the receptionist told me the lab was in the hallway directly in front of the elevator. Walk across from the elevator, hallway goe off to right, about half way down on the right is LabCorp. The hallways are very sterile with small signage. Once inside, you do a self check in at the kiosk. The machine couldn't read my insurance card, no idea why, so I had to manually type in all the info. This happened to several other people so it definitely warrants being fixed. After that, I took a seat and waited my turn. Some people had set up an appointment so they were in front of me. There is a screen with people's initials so you can see where you are in the queue. My wait was about ten minutes. A little soft background music in the waiting area would enhance the environment. The technician was friendly, efficient, and most important, skilled. Hit the vein first time even though I was a bit dehydrated, and a minute later, done. I have an order for a repeat test for early June, and now that I know this lab exists, I'll stop here. There is a parking lot right out front, easy exit off 26, very convenient.

Generally the staff is competent, friendly and my waits for my appointment are not long. However,…read morethe problem is communication with my OHSU clinic. 100% of the time I am told by the staff that I have no order from my doctor. This is because my clinic and their medical organization fax orders to labcorp instead of using an electronic system. This means that labcorp staff need to know the day the order was received and then search through all the faxes received that day. I don't really know when the order was received by them. Last time I had to get my clinic to fax the order again, and had to wait around for that. This time I'm going to bring a paper copy of the order. The communication is broken on the other end as well. My clinic never sees the results since they come via fax to a phone number they don't check, or at least not regularly. So, I download the results from labcorp's site and attach them to a mychart message. I fault primarily labcorp, but also my clinic and their organization, my insurance company (who requires me to use a lab that doesn't communicate well with my medical provider) and myself for not making more noise about this. (I'm trying to remedy that with this review.)
