Booz Allen Hamilton - Walking into the Hamilton building

Booz Allen Hamilton

(3 reviews)

I read the previous review and felt I could offer a more fair and balanced opinion on Booz Allen…read moreHamilton. Firstly, this location is their headquarters and in the heart of Tyson's Corner. Booz Allen had owned and occupied 3 connected towers but I believe 1 of the 3 is now occupied by another corporation. They have numerous other locations in the DC Metropolitan area as well as across the United States. Secondly, as for health benefits, there are several choices ranging from HMO to PPO. As with most PPO's the high deductible was a decision forced largely by government legislation (and not horrible company bureaucrats). Some companies have been able to work in "stipends" by way of a HSA contributions and other have not. Booz Allen does contribute a stipend to the yearly HSA, which is a triple tax deduction. Thirdly, promotions are as merit worthy as any other employer in the beltway. Building a network does not require one to become an alcoholic, but rather requires you to get to know your peers, active participation in Booz Allen Hamilton sponsored initiatives and exemplary client facing delivery. Booz Allen Hamilton is a large services/staffing company, so differentiating yourself may require out of the box thinking (creativity), consistency and leadership sponsorship. I personally have not witnessed the need to "drink" or become an alcoholic. Fourth, there is truth to a services company needing to make money. Since Booz Allen Hamilton has over 90% of it's revenue from the federal government, it is natural to feel a push in times where government budgets for services are shrinking. The only way an individual can get a promotion is if the client is willing to pay more for the resource or there is a vacancy at a higher level (due to contract growth).

I am not sure if the previous bad reviews are people that did not get hired, but that does not…read morereflect what I have experienced at all. I had a lot of choices when it came to healthcare and everyone there makes you feel secure and included. There are countless opportunities to network and participate at Booz Allen sponsored events and I have personally attended a lot of them, where you will talk face to face with VP's who actually treat you as a valuable person. My career manager is my greatest advocate and I feel safe at Booz Allen knowing that he will help me stay working and fit where it makes me the happiest. They care about what your passion is and teaching you what you need to know including paying for certifications and providing training. It will be a tough day if I ever have to leave this company, as I do not think I will find anything better because I do not think there is anything better.

During a time of unpleasantness with hotel that shall remain nameless, the helped get my feet back on the ground. I simply applied online heard back from them much quicker than the other temp job places I applied to. The video interviewed didn't seem to work, so it was done in person. I met with Brittany Mosley and the interview was nothing but positive. When I was asked about Administration and Secretarial jobs, I said yes. It was something I had some experience with, but never did as a career...unless you count front desk operator at...dare I say it?...Marriott Courtyard. It did not take long to get job offer and evidently I did a fantastic job at it. Robert Half had had trouble filling the hole at the jobsite I was sent to. Since it is a temp job, I knew it could be a day, to a week or longer. There many things I liked as about Robert Half. The pay I found was fair. I had specifically said I want pay at 11 starting range. If the price fell below this line, they would call and ask me if I was interested in making extra money with whatever job they had. I love the jobs that I was offered were weekly paying jobs. They knew this is what I prefer and did so. If there are bi-weekly paying jobs, I never had any. Nevertheless, getting paid weekly is a big help. Another good thing about Robert Half is that there are no finders fees or deductions from your paycheck for the jobs our employers find for us. All of this is the positive side. As you know, there is always a negative to anything that is positive. My only problem is with Jacqueline Bailey and Brittany Mosley. When I called to let them know I found a new job and needed to place my work status on hold for a while, they never responded back to me. I called them 2 times each and never heard back from them. I even showed up in person only be told she wasn't there when i know the receptionist was lying. Because of these actions this place which could have been a five star gets 3 stars. I spend more than a year with this team and to handle things they way you did is fucked up.

A quick Google search told me that there was a Junior League of Northern Virginia very close to my office so I sent them an email to inquire about membership. They asked me to join them at one of their meetings which was really well run but not quite what I was looking for since almost everyone in attendance was double my age. The activities and events they offered also didn't really seem like my steez either. Even though Junior League of Washington was a bit further out from where I worked and had a more stringent application process, I found that this fit my young twenties lifestyle a lot better. There were tons more opportunities to socialize, volunteer and get to know the organization a lot better before I committed. I ended up staying a member for about two years when I realized I had gotten everything I needed out or the organization and dipped out. For those deciding which Junior League to join, here's a quick breakdown: JLNW: Perfect for busy career women, women with families, or lower key ladies JLW: More suited to younger members with a sorority like mentality who like to strut their stuff
