Okaaaaayyyy NuZen, okaaaaay... Once upon a time I went to Thailand and got a $3 Thai massage every single day. I missed them, and when I saw this spa offered them, I booked an appointment. Compared to the massages in Thailand, this was like 75% Thai, 25% deep tissue, and it was fantastic. In Thailand, they don't use oil. Here, they did, and it was great. My body was stretched and beaten, and I feel like I just ran a marathon, in the best way possible. Anyway, the spa itself is really nice. I was pleasantly surprised. My lovely husband got me a full spa package for massage , mani pedi and facial... well the massage was Incredible by Apple! Only Reason for my 3 stars is the massage! Perfect pressure, it was very therapeutic, I definitely needed it . I was surprised the water machine didn't work and I had to ask for water and tea. Spa 101 is tea and water availability. But The facial was a joke she washed my face , put a mask put a few different solutions but minimal extractions which I know my nose has a lot of black heads, no facial massage just very basic I was annoyed about it but whatever. I requested dip powder nails instead of pedi which they accommodated and I was grateful BUT! It was Awful! It was the wrong color completely different from the color I asked for! She drilled my nail so bad it was painful multiple times I told her and complained n she could Not control the drill . The drill controlled her! A few days later my nails looked Awful! The place was very clean and huge. They have two floors and the staff is very classy. The lady did my nails to my liking but they did charge a little extra for using essi nail polish. I guess its because they are a really good brand. However, I didnt mind because I like essi and opi brands. The lady did my nails so good and gave me a neck/back massage while drying which is my favorite part. That place gives you the option to get spa combos which is great if you need a self care day. I went in with a gift card that my brother got me for Christmas and a massage. I requested the Hot Stone Massage for 90 minutes and it was amazing! The atmosphere was very clean and sanitary with very nice mood lighting and ample space to keep my things. Apple was great and was very friendly. She frequently checked in with me for the pressure of the massage and the warmth of the stones. She was very polite and offered me tea afterwards. I didn't feel rushed at all. I also commend them for being able to work me in as I called the day of for an appointment. I will definitely be coming back here. I was visiting my parents and was looking for a spa day after a very taxing red eye. I am a massage therapist and a former spa owner. After scrolling through yelp, I decided this was the place. They had a package of massage, facial(no extraction), spa mani/pedi and eyebrow wax. And I added half leg and chin wax. I was at the spa for about 3.5 hours. It was very clean. Beautiful decor and the techs were all super nice, caring and accommodating. And the price point was fair. I think for the whole thing I paid 275 for services and tipped each person in cash. I decided to come to Nu Zen for a pedicure, because not only was I due for one, but I'm going out this weekend and wouldn't be able to do it any other time. The website said that the place closes at 7:30pm. With literally only 20 minutes to spare, I feared that I wouldn't make it in time. With 10 minutes left, I made my final right turn and was immediately greeted by the lot that housed Nu Zen. Hallelujah!The colors caught my eye right away and there was plenty of parking. I saw only 2 vehicles and worried that I might have missed my window of opportunity. There was a man outside with a mask tending to the entrance door, doing something to it, I'm not quite sure of what, but I called out to him and I asked him if they were still open. They were. *mental happy dance*. So I park and my mom and I get out the vehicle and proceed to the building. It's a very welcoming atmosphere. We were the only 2 patrons there. With soft instrumental music playing, I was guided to the pedicure station and asked to pick out a color for my feet. I chose OPI, You've Got Nata On Me! It's such a pretty color. My Pedicurist was Yoko and Lynn was the one who did my mom's feet. My mom was seated next to me, so I was able to observe Lynn's handiwork. So for Yoko, she was amazing and she did a great job. Overall. She shaped my nails really well. A little back story to gain some perspective...it's been over 7 months since the last time I professionally got my feel done. With my personal life taking precedence over everything else, I made little to no effort to allow anyone else to take care of or service me. With some mental pep talk, I decided it was time for some much needed me time. After soaking my feet in the tub of water that was lined with a plastic bag and doing her magic on my toes, Yoko massaged my feet and my legs and it was amazing. It reminded me of how much I need a massage, which they also do here. She applied a scrub to my feet and legs and followed it with some lotion. When she was about to paint my nails, she applied a parrafin treatment placed in plastic bags to each of my heels and left it there until she was done. It was a nice experience and my feet were happy. Once she was done, she led me to the foot drying station and proceeded to give me a teaser of a shoulder massage. It was really nice and once again I was reminded that I'm missing out on a much needed massage. When it's time for me to go back, Yoko will definitely be my go to person. On to Lynn. My mom hasn't had a professional pedicure since her last stroke. Lynn was very attentive and gentle with my mom. She did a wonderful job of filing her toes and taking care of her feet and it looked great. When she was done applying the nail polish to her toes, as to keep her comfortable, Lynn had my mom remain in her seat while she got one of those accordion styled fans and fanned her feet. It was very thoughtful. My mom enjoyed getting her feet done and said she would go back. Once we were officially done, we paid, tipped and made our way outside. Once there I was able to observe my feet in the natural light. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that even though the nail polish looked good, it wasn't a seamless application. I could see that the area between my toenail and my skin on the side of my toe received no love. I mean, if you were looking at my feet, you couldn't see it, but if you got closer, you would notice it. I'm a stickler for those minor details. On the next go around, should it happen again, I'll be sure to say something about it and not get lost in the massage. Over the experience was wonderful read more

I forgot to take a picture of the interior. I love the decor. I had a good experience here but it could've been better. I got a massage from Nancy and she was incredible! I felt sooooo relaxed. She talks through the massage to make sure she's not too rough, which is ok I guess, but I'm used to falling asleep lol The hiccups I encountered were when I was offered tea or water. I asked for tea but never got it. I asked 3 more times and eventually went and got it myself in between treatments. I forgot to ask for the lady's name who did my mani and pedi but she wasn't the greatest. She filed me toenails down too short and didn't fully cover my fingernails with polish, even after I showed her the cuticles and corners were bare. ‍ I really like the way they do pedicures tho. The foot soak and choice of lotion are a nice bonus that give you a silky smooth feel afterwards. I might go back but if so, I'll just ask for Nancy and hope she can do my mani and pedi. read more

My friend found this salon on Yelp and brought me along even though it's pretty far for a pedi. I was unsure of what to expect for such a drive but it's well worth it. The salons decor is very relaxing with exotic pictures and bonzai trees. The design is modern with an Asian twist and very clean. The bathroom is also very clean with a candle lit inside. Instead of a usual tv setting they had relaxing spa music playing and you can hear the water trickling down from the fountain. They have an array of services at fair prices so you can truly have a "spa day" without spending a ton of $. The staff is very accommodating and greats u with a smile and offers tea and water which is a bonus. The mini massage I got while my nails were drying encouraged me to get ten more minutes and was great I wanted ten more minutes but didn't have the time. I recently came here for Spa Week. My friends and I had facials done and we all decided to do eyebrow tinting once we found out it could be done there. The facials weren't really special in my opinion. They used a sheet mask and collagen gel (stuff I could easily find at the pharmacy or Ulta). We were really excited about the eyebrow tinting. Nancy did a great job with shaping our brows and waxing them prior to applying the tint. She tinted mine first and you could visibly see that it wasn't even. I pointed it out to her and she said she would fix it later. She was very hasty and rough throughout the process. We asked how long this would last and she noted 6 weeks. We grew even more excited.....Later that night I was washing my face and getting ready for bed, I looked in the mirror and my eyebrow returned to its normal color. My tint was gone. I called my girls and there's washes off also. I contacted the spa and they advised us to come back for it to be re done. Honestly I feel that it is pointless because it's going to wash off again. I found this place on Yelp of course, and I first started my visit with a Mani and Pedi. I really enjoy the mani and the pedi they did an awesome job. Everything was clean and sanitize and I was really comfortable. They serve water or hot tea while your sitting in the pedi chair and they are very friendly. The mani and pedi was good that I actually came back here a few more times for Mani and Pedi and that's when I started to see a lot of cliental for other services the spa had to offer. That's when I booked my couple massage. When we arrived we was greeted and brought up stairs to the spa area which had a lot of tranquility. The room was very cold so they had to put a space heater on to warm up the room. Once the room was warm, they started the massage. What I loved is that the two massage ladies didn't speak to each other while giving us the massage. They maybe said one or two things and that was it. We both got a deep tissue massage. My husband said his was great, but then again this was like his second massage ever. I felt that the massage wasn't a deep tissue massage that I'm use to. It felt like she was just rubbing oil on my body. She did hit some points tho. But overall I would definitely go back to get my nails done but not a massage. read more

I've tried numerous places but had not found a place that was clean, quiet, professional, had a nice atheistic and did a great job meticulously grooming and polishing my hands and feet until I came to this nail salon. My friend LOVES this place and kept insisting that i visit with her so i did. The place is a little shabby on the outside but the inside is nice and clean and has a calming zen feel. The staff is very pleasant and great you warmly when you walk in. I had an appointment for the exfoliating body scrub and hot stone massage. I didn't have to wait to be serviced, i was taken right upstair. I would have to say that the body scrub was disappointing. One, the room room was cold which is NOT ok for a service that involves being totally naked and WET. Second, what I thought would be a vigorous body scrub was a light sugar scrub. (That's my fault because I now know that what I was expecting is called a Korean body scrub. I've had 2 in the past at other spas and they are AMAZING!!!) So after my sugar scrub, I had to get off of the table and wash the sugar off myself! (After the Korean scrubs I had, the ladies washed me with delicious warm water and it felt just wonderful.) So, after showering in a cold room, I then had to walk into another cold room with my wet body for my massage. I asked the lady if she could put some heat on and her response to me was "didn't you just take a hot shower?" I politely answered "Yes, but its cold in this room and my body is wet". She reluctantly put a heater for me. She did though give me a wonderful hot stone massage but, it would have been much better without all the phlegmy coughing she was doing. A friend and I purchased a Groupon for a mani-pedi. What a great find this hidden gem is! Above all, the place is clean. Immaculate. IMMACULATE. You could eat off the floors here. This is the cleanest nail salon I have ever set foot in. All the tools used on me came out of a sani-pouch and the nail file and buffer were disposed of after my treatment. The owners(or managers?)a cute little couple, take great pride in their establishment. They made sure to stop by our table to ask how everything was going. At the end of our services when we were finished drying, he even took us on a tour of the upstairs, which is a beautiful, beautiful spa with such a relaxing ambience. As for the the service/skill. My manicure is flawless. When I was picking out my color the nail tech even came over with a little mag-lamp and held it over the bottle of polishes I was looking at! I also appreciate the selection of lotions, they let you pick your own fragrance of CND creams. My pedicure was a bit quick, albeit efficient. It wasn't rushed, I have just been to many many other nail salons in my lifetime where they take their time a bit more. One star off the rating for two reasons: The music they had playing was almost non-existent. It was a calming spa-like soundtrack, but I could barely hear it. Even though there was only one other client in the nail salon portion of the spa, I felt as though my conversation with my girlfriend was echoing through the place and that I had to whisper. As a employee of a spa myself, I know that it's essential to have SOME type of white noise going on as to drown out the voices of the clients. Secondly, my friend opted out of the manicure because she has acrylic tips. She naturally finished her pedicure before me while I was still having my manicure. Her technician didn't escort her to the drying station & rub her shoulders as mine did. She ran upstairs to accomodate a walk-in facial without an appointment. ***All in all, a great new place that just needs to work out the kinks. It's a bit more pricy than other salons in the area but, you are paying for the lovely atmosphere. This is not your run of the mill chop shop, they carry high end brands such as SkinCeuticals and Jurlique and ALL of their nail supplies come in the bottle they are manufactured in, LOL. I can't say I will make the drive to Oceanside for a weekly mani-pedi, especially when there are shops on Hempstead Tpk that do a mani-pedi for $15 and give a better pedicure, but I will definitely take a trip when I am in need of a little relaxation. read more

I went to NuZen for a pedicure. The tech who did my pedicure was very sweet and accommodating. She did a great job with my pedicure. She helped me carry all of my belongings to the drying station and gave me a brief shoulder massage while my nails were drying. I was also offered tea and/or water while I was there. Very clean and neat place. The two things I didn't like was another nail tech was persistent in trying to get me to upgrade the pedicure service I had already chosen. She was extremely nice and helpful, but to the point that it felt a bit pushy. She also recommended that my nail tech show me upstairs right before I left, which felt like she was trying to sell me on something else. The upstairs is REALLY nice and looks like they would offer a great massage (couples massage as well) so I'd likely go back to try it. read more
