Cookie Mix and Granola for sale

Because Nuvrei is located right around the corner from Mark Spencer Hotel, we came here for our morning croissants. For our tasting selection we ordered the following: Ham and Cheese Croissant - made to order and was hot on arrival Egg and Cheese Croissant (bacon is extra) - made to order Almond Croissant - lots of crunchy almonds, my favorite Pistachio Rose Croissant - rose is subtle Strawberry Danish - tasty strawberry filling with a cheese layer Chewy Walnut Cookie - big, chewy, chocolatey, my other favorite While I liked the croissants, the almond, pistachio, and strawberry croissants didn't have that crispy outside that I'd come to expect. However, when I re-heated the croissants, the texture was improved. Other items sold at Nuvrei were: Flourless Double Chocolate Cookie Mix (intriguing), granola mix, macarons, and beverages. If staying at the Mark Spencer, Nuvrei is an easy choice. With an early opening of 7am, I could begin my day and prepare for shopping.

I had visited the Nuvrei located in the Pearl District back in 2024. I learned that this location had closed, but this one on SW Harvey Milk St prevails (7/9/26). I lucked out with street parking around the corner and after a brief wait in this pocket bakery/cafe, I purchased one each: rose croissant, vanilla rum canele, and a lemon morning bun. Tiny spot, but loaded speed cart and stacking bins with quality products. I also enjoyed my brief convo with the counter person. The few indoor tables and the sidewalk benches were all full. No worries, since for me, it was a very brief visit. If you are interested in the classics, but with fresh, innovative twists, Nuvrei is a obligatory stop while in downtown Portland.

Veggie Bagel & Egg and Cheese Croissant

The most lovely spot! Nuvrei is a petite bakery and coffee shop whipping up delish pastries and drinks. We popped in for breakfast and got a Veggie Bagel, Egg and Cheese Croissant, and an Iced Latte. Everything was made so intentionally! The Veggie Bagel was probably one of the best bagel sandwiches I've ever had. It consisted of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, dill, schmear, and I chose the everything bagel to pull it all together. The Egg and Cheese Croissant was so simple, but so good. I think they're known for their croissants? It was super buttery, flaky, and insanely good! I love that their egg was cooked over-medium instead of the usual scrambled. Super yum! It was just so good. It tasted home-made and full of love.

I came a little after 7 a.m., not long after they opened, so I was expecting the pastries to be fresh. Unfortunately, both the canelé and the rose croissant were disappointing. Neither had the crisp exterior I was expecting--the canelé shell was soft, and the croissant wasn't crisp or flaky on the outside. Both were also overwhelmingly sweet, to the point that the sweetness completely overpowered the other flavors. Definitely not what I expected, especially that early in the morning.

It's a small bakery with three tables and a standing area. They have lots of pastries from croissants to macarons. I tried the ham and cheese croissant and canele. I asked for the canele to be warmed up and it was nice and crunchy on the exterior with a spongy, custardy interior. It was still a little cold at the very center. The ham and cheese croissant was nice. It had some flaky layers and decent flavor. It came with a side of coleslaw if you order it for dine in.

Visited their old location a long time ago and really liked their pastries so thought I'd dropby this new spot. Inside is small and minimalist. Only three small tables that are constantly taken so I wouldn't bet on dining in. We got their early morning and they're already very low on stock so that's a bit disappointing. We tried the Egg & Cheese Sandwich in a Croissant and it's decent. Two eggs included which was unexpected. However, the croissant itself was very soft and soggy. The aioli was way too salty too. Could use some freshness from lettuce or tomato. Not bad but nothing I'd rush back to get. Staffs and service were also kinda meh.

Came here one morning and ordered a dirty chai, and a matcha latte with vanilla. The matcha tasted good quality but I wish it had been sweeter. Same with the dirty chai. However I also ordered a chocolate almond croissant and a box of macarons and was blown away by those items. I would give 3 stars for the drinks but 5 stars overall because the pastries were THAT good.

Delicious lattes delicious pastries. My partner selected the almond croissants and I tried previously pistachio. If I had known there was rose pistachio I would have tried that but I missed this picture before having my partner pick up the order.

Ordered croissant, almost croissant, a scone, and lemon curd deliciousness - all of these baked good were delicious. We also ordered some sandwiches for our upcoming e-bike ride alone the Columbia scenic roadway - we wanted 2 turkey and two ham but they said the ham was discontinued so we decided on blts - suboptimal - we noticed too late that all sandwiches were going to be made on croissants - well we have open minds we waited for quite a while honestly for the 4 to be made by an uncelebrated but hard working man in the back, while the two in the front failed to establish any rapore with us and talked amongst themselves while we waited an uncomfortable amount of time. Once done they said here are your sandwiches without looking at us. OK then. Sandwiches weren't really wrapped to go, more made for eating then and there even though we had mentioned in was for our cooler backpack for a picnic lunch. Also annoying. Found a plastic bag in our Highlander to help keep them from spilling out and all over our cooler. We did enjoy the sandwiches enough, and the pastries were great - but the interactions were less than fun - and the lack of ham sandwich without any sort of apology (oh sorry we no longer carry the ham sandwich- or put a line through it ugh) gotta sauce, the hero with a smile in the back making the sandwiches kept this place from going below 3 stars

I love Pix, both old school and post-COVID iterations…read more Back in the day PIX was for late nights, and honestly I don't really know what their actual schedule is now. They're essentially 24/7 because during Covid they made the incredibly bizarre and ingenious move to put their insanely beautiful patisserie in old school slot-style cafeteria vending machines. So during isolation one could run out in your mask and gloves, stay six feet away from the person behind you, and yank open any door to reveal an amazing little dessert behind each one. It was a taste of restaurants (professional desserts!!!) that we all missed so much. But it wasn't a gimmick that went away like the closed bubble dining pods. The cafeteria vending machines have stayed. I've picked up multiple different styles to have lots of dessert options at a birthday, I've stopped there in the middle of the night for an after-hospital cheering up, it's basically made for wandering over after making love any time of day or night. They somehow stay beautiful, fresh, and delicious in this little gimmicky machine. It's fun, whimsical, and I think some of the best patisserie in town.

I stopped in mid afternoon on a weekday, so it was pretty quiet, which meant I had free run of the place to poke around and also try to figure out how the vending machine machines worked. Fortunately, all I had to do was actually read the posted directions and voilà, dessert! I was surprised by the price at first, but can't deny and it was a high-quality dessert. I tried the hazelnut chocolate mousse cake which had a name that I've completely forgotten now of course! It took me a while to find it while I was there, but there is a menu on a table that describes what each of the desserts are, since they are only identified by name in the vending machine.

Great selection of delicious and unique baked goods, and sandwiches. French coffee is offered,…read moreeither hot or iced. They will make unsweetened (black) coffee as well. We arrived about 2:45 pm and found a fairly slow-moving line of 5 or 6 individuals; imagine longer lines at earlier times. Lone person taking and fulfilling orders was doing her best to keep things moving. Note: They accept credit cards, but a sign advised that they prefer cash. 5 tables outside, including 3 in a shaded area, were a welcome sight. Enjoyed med our lunch and treats in comfort. The pork in the pork bun was sweet and good. I was not a big fan of the hotdog in the hotdog bun, but the bread in which it was baked was fantastic. The giant black and white cookie was good, but not cookie-like; much like chocolate cake. We also sampled an almond frangipane tart and that was delicious! Prices were very reasonable.

Great prices for creative baked goods!…read more We dropped by shortly after their 7AM opening to pick up sandwiches and snacks for a big hike day. We shared multiple sweets as well, highlights included the mochi black sesame donut ball - nice amount of sticky mochi filling with a nutty flavor; the pandan coconut croissant, was flakey and large, just enough sweet. The raspberry pistachio frangipane was a lovely (and not so delicate - good for travel) tart. We also bought a coconut bread and the ube mochi bread (latter was fantastic) and both were shareable and great for a few days afterwards as well. The sandwiches also did just fine lasting until midday in a hiking backpack - the combo, BBQ pork, lemongrass pork, lemongrass chicken, and pulled pork sandwiches. We wished the latter three didn't all have the same pulled meat texture and that the lemongrass flavor came through better. Otherwise, reasonable and cheap meal.
