On my second trip to Chicago, I finally made it to the Nutella store after missing out on it during my last visit! We came on a Sunday afternoon, and there was a long line for dine-in. However, when we asked if we could get our order to go, we were told there was no line for takeout and that we could just walk in and order at the kiosk. So that's exactly what we did! Honestly, everything on the menu looked amazing, but we settled on a Nutella iced latte and a regular hot latte for drinks. For food, we got warmed-up banana bread with banana toppings, a Nutella crepe with hazelnut toppings, and a croissant with raspberry toppings. The croissant was clearly the winner for me! The staff were absolutely sweet and friendly, which made the experience even better. We walked over to Millennium Park and enjoyed our treats with the Cloud Gate (the Bean) as our view. What a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Chicago! Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!
I was really looking forward to this experience. I love Nutella and this was something different. We came there around 9:15pm and there was a line - no problem. They close at 10pm and let the line know that they will not be offering dining in after 9:30pm. So if you are in the line, you will need to do a to-go. This also was not a problem with me. I understand they want to go home and I came late. I finally got in and we did the ordering on the kiosk. They were out of a lot of things but again, it was the end of the night so that was to be expected. They didn't have anything posted - as far as I could see - or giving any menus BEFORE ordering at a table or to-go which would have made the experience quicker. What I really had a problem with was the orders. I ordered a fruit plate with Nutella and my husband ordered a scoop of ice cream with Nutella. They literally gave him the tiniest scoop of ice cream I ever saw, with barely any Nutella. This tiny cup was over $8. You could have ate it in 1 spoonful - not even kidding. The fruit plate itself was a decent size with very fresh fruit but again, barely any Nutella. I believe the fruit plate was $12 or $13. The whole purpose of the cafe is NUTELLA, yet they barely give you any. Overall, it was alright. You could make any of these items at home with a jar of Nutella. I wouldn't recommend or go back - just do it yourself.
The Nutella Cafe seemed like a great place to grab some breakfast. Unfortunately the place was a bit outdated and small (they weren't letting many people in even though there were many tables and an outdoor area?) We ordered the crepe with strawberries and Nutella whipped cream, a mocha, and the panzanella salad. The menus was not updated, the coffee was pretty acidic, and the food was very basic and overall a bit too sweet for the price. Unfortunately it had so much potential but I wouldn't go out of my way to come again.
The highlight of Nutella Cafe Chicago is definitely that you can personalize the Nutella label with your name! Such a fun and unique touch, especially if you're visiting Chicago and want a little souvenir. I ordered the iced mocha latte with Nutella, and it was really good, but it took about 15 minutes to prepare even though it wasn't busy. I actually tried to visit the day before in the afternoon, and although the line wasn't crazy, it barely moved, so I decided to come back the next morning. My advice: go early in the morning if you want to avoid long waits. Overall, it's a fun stop for Nutella fans, especially for the personalized jar!
I was really excited to visit the Nutella Café, but unfortunately it was one of the most disappointing experiences of our Chicago trip. From the moment we walked in, the café was extremely disorganized. There were long lines that barely moved, yet it wasn't clear why. There was no visible menu, making it difficult to decide what to order while waiting. The staff appeared overwhelmed and worked at a very slow pace. Even more concerning, the employees who appeared to be supervisors (wearing black shirts) were nowhere to be found. The manager was sitting on a laptop and seemed completely unaware of the chaos unfolding around him. We waited over 20 minutes for just three items. When I finally approached the manager, he explained that every order goes through a single system or ticket, which is why everything takes so long. After walking over to the kitchen, he looked at the pile of orders with an expression that clearly said, "Wow, they're backed up," and only then decided to jump in and help. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the wait. * The cold hot chocolate was bland, not sweet, and had very little chocolate flavor. * The raspberry Danish was cold, dry, and tasted stale. * The banana bread was actually good, but it was served cold instead of warm. To make matters worse, the café was uncomfortably hot, with little to no air conditioning, and we couldn't find a single trash can in the dining area. Overall, this location suffers from poor leadership, a lack of organization, and disappointing food quality. A café carrying the Nutella name should provide a much better experience than this. I left feeling frustrated and would not recommend it unless significant improvements are made. Pros: * Banana bread had good flavor (although it should have been served warm). Cons: * Extremely long wait * Poor organization * No visible menu * Weak management and leadership * Slow, unprofessional service * Bland hot chocolate * Dry, stale pastry * Hot dining area with no noticeable A/C * No visible trash cans I expected a fun, memorable experience. Instead, it was one of the most poorly managed cafés I've visited.
Nutella flavored coffee A bit crowded and wait time can be long. Have many other nutella flavored dishes
Very cute and clean location on Michigan Ave! Had no idea Nutella Cafe existed so this was a great after dinner treat! We had the hot cocoa which was rich, decadent and delicious! It's really nice because you get a cute Nutella biscuit cookie on top of your drink! We shared the grilled banana bread and a croissant, of course infused with Nutella! Both were delightful! The staff were great and friendly. They were working hard to keep the dining area spotless! It was nice to see! You can get a custom jar of Nutella with your name on it. That's cool! A great gift idea. Duly noted for the future!
I had to try out the famous Nutella cafe. Since it's the only one in the whole wide world it was like a no brainer. We walked there and it was really empty. We ordered the crepe with bananas. The flavor and taste was just like it's suppose to be Nutella and banana. You first start by choosing your base of crepe, waffle or pancake. And then each topping you add will be an additional cost. For a banana crepe it was about $12. Which is not bad. But compared to genki in San Francisco I feel like with that price it came with ice cream and fruits.
Super fun and a must-stop if you're a nutella fan!! Walking distance from The Bean and right on the Riverwalk. If anything, go for the hot chocolate (tastes like liquid Nutella its amazing) and the mixed fruits w Nutella as well! It gets a bit busy so keep an eye our for people leaving their tables (theres 2 sections) and grab a seat! It has a very Times Square cafe feel when you're in it. Would definitely go again!
July 22, we arrived around 9:30 and placed our order, only to be informed about 15 minutes later that they were out of pretty much everything we had ordered. Since we were a party of four, we decided to cancel our order and request a refund. The manager told us that we had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come and process the refund. We were then informed that this location does not issue refunds directly. We waited another 15 minutes, and after about half an hour, they still couldn't figure out how to process the refund. They eventually sent us home and told us they would take care of it. We have called several times since then, and every time we're given the same response that the refund will be processed. It has now been almost 3 months and we still have not received our money. This has been a very disappointing experience, especially because of the lack of communication and follow-through. If you take someone's money, you should make sure their refund is processed in a timely manner.
My friends and I stopped here on a cold December evening as we were walking back to our hotel from Millennium Park. It was nice to be able to warm up for a few minutes. We ordered the Nutella Banana Bread and the Nutella Fruit Bowl along with some hot chocolate. It was all excellent. If you are looking for a little sweet fix at night, this is a great option.
Very cool cafe! Line could get long, but it does go by pretty quickly. we waited for about 15 minutes before getting seated by the host. We ordered the Nutella Gelato and Liege Waffle. They were super sweet but really delicious. I think this cafe was more for the experience than really trying out the food. The food wasn't anything surprising as they are somewhat simple dishes. Overall, the experience was still very pleasant but I don't see this as a reoccurring cafe to go to when you're in Chicago.
I wanted to try this place mostly out of curiosity. It definitely felt more like a tourist trap. There was a really long line to get in and order, and the inside was super crowded, and we were lucky to be able to find a seat. Overall, it was alright and nothing particularly exceptional. A lot of the menu felt like things you could make at home with a jar of Nutella and some basic ingredients. We got the Nutella waffle with bananas and blackberries, and it honestly just tasted like a normal waffle with fruit and a drizzle of Nutella. The Nutella hot chocolate was okay too - basically a standard hot chocolate with some Nutella mixed in. The standout for me was the Nutella gelato. It was actually shockingly good. The Nutella flavor was much stronger and more pronounced, and it felt more unique compared to everything else we tried. Might be a cool place if you're from out of town, but I probably wouldn't make a special trip for it.
Great novelty cafe if you like Nutella.... They control the crowd outside. Had to wait 20mins before entering the cafe. Was served straight away and the food came out very quickly. We ordered the waffles with strawberry and banana. We also ordered the hot Nutella cocoa and the Icee Nutella Mocha Latte. The little was pretty strong. The cafe needs to invest in better straws. The Nutella would consistently get stuck in the straw and make it hard to drink it. The hot cocoa was good. A simply hot cocoa with a small Nutella after taste. The waffles were very soft and melted in your mouth. I would definitely come back here. read more

Waiting in line right now and before we even got into the restaurant the server threw a fit when we opened the door to see how many people were ahead of us. After this he locked the door and couldn't give us any kind of estimate on time to wait even though there were many open tables that hadn't been cleared. PS : not worth the hype read more

The Nutella cafe always has a wait-line in front of their store, no matter what the time of the year is. If you're a Nutella nut, this place is for you. The ambience of the cafe is very good with a fireplace in the top seating area. We ordered a Crepe with strawberries, bananas and Nutella Whipped cream as well as a Panzanella. The portion size is too small for the price we pay though the taste of the food is good. There were a lot of empty tables when we entered after about 30 minutes on a Friday afternoon, but there was only a single waitress responsible for cleaning the tables: This could be the reason for the long queue outside the cafe every time. read more

I canHonestly just fucking eat your Nutella at home. This is insane. I walk in and the lady at the register was so god damn rude she didn't even care to say hi back to me. You know. The basic human interaction...but I guess that's an expectation I shouldn't have now! Along with that. We weren't even able to enjoy our food in peace because they gave it to us in to go containers because they have a line outside! If you want us to leave and not be able to sit in these open seat then perhaps put a sign outside that says no eating. Also how difficult is it to simply cut up strawberries. We were given Nutella in a little sauce cup. At the bottom of a pile of whole strawberries with the leaf on. Way to ruin my whole experience. The crepes my brother and I ate. We're also raw. I hate everything now because Nutella was my life. Now it's ruined. Thank you Nutella cafe. Also. Ps. My personalized Nutella. WAS LITERALLY NOT EVEN STUCK ON. IT WAS PEELING BEFORE I EVEN GOT TO OPEN IT. read more

My friends and I ordered a couple menu items and they were ok/good. They were all fairly basic orders so you really can't mess them up. That being said, the food options were not too creative (I was kind of disappointed). I wanted to try something unique, after all, it's the Nutella Cafe! In the end, I'd say it's not really worth the wait, hype, or the money, unless you are super obsessed with Nutella. The service was quick, but the space inside is too small to field a large crowd. We had a nice visit but don't feel the need to return, 3.5/5 stars. read more
On our way to Millennium Park, we drove by this place. "You guys want to check out Nutella later?" my cousin asked. I said nothing, but my mom expressed her interest. And some 30 minutes or so later, the four of us -- my cousin, her daughter, my mom and myself -- posted up at the counter. I wasn't hungry that much, but I needed something warm to chug so I ordered a hot chocolate. I like the portable Nutella & Go snack so to have the sweet, rich chocolate in thick, nourishing libation form was a treat worth enjoying on a chilly mid-'30s Sunday afternoon. I admit I was disappointed that the restaurant didn't have sandwiches like I thought they would. Sure, I said I wasn't hungry, but I still had the door open towards eating something. read more

great experience at the nutella cafe! we got the waffle with strawberries and pancakes! both were super good and satisfied my sweet tooth! definitely add in some fruits to mellow down the sugar! the inside was a bit cramped with close tables so be sure to try to go at an off time (as soon as they open, not during lunch, etc.) the first time we walked by it there was a long line out the door and we just came back another day! you go to the counter, order, then they bring it to you at whatever table you choose (open seating). I would highly suggest the waffle and the little nutella biscuits (pack of 12) - those were my FAV! i thought this was a great experience since i'm such a big fan of nutella so check it out if you're around! read more
Best place to stop if you're a Nutella fan. Great atmosphere and family friendly. Very nice sidewalk seating area as well as interior seating. The crepes were amazing and the gift shop items allowed for a one-stop shopping experience while dining. read more

This place is mostly a tourist trap. The line is about 30 minutes since the space inside is small. People tend to sit around after they finish their food which makes the turnover slower. The food is something that you can find at any breakfast or brunch place. Price is probably better elsewhere too. Toilets had no paper towels or toilet paper. Overhyped and not worth the wait. read more
5/5. Soooo yummy. Cravings satisfied! There is a huge jar of Nutella inside to take a picture with. The seating is a bit tricky... it's first come, first serve. I would recommend that someone from your group save a spot to sit at and the other person orders. I came during the week (Friday) and got to go straight inside but I walked by the next day (Saturday) and the line was out the door passing 2 of the neighboring businesses. My cashier was friendly as well. The food came out fairly quickly. read more
Came here for some hot chocolate when it felt like 3 degrees outside... I was really impressed, the inside was super cute and clean! They had christmas decorations everywhere too :) I got the nutella hot chocolate-- soo good! It was very creamy and you could taste the nutella but it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet- it was perfect honestly. And it came with a little nutella cookie. The little loft seating area was nice and its all windows so you have a good view of outside into the city! The employees were very friendly as well. Overall a really good experience! read more

My friend was visiting me from out of town + we were still hungry from lunch + as a Nutella lover, we decided to come here. I know there would be a queue because every time I walk past this place, there's always one (especially on the weekend; might not have one on the weekday during work hours). We waited in line for ~30min on a Saturday and there was no shelter above our heads to spare us from the light rain. We both got the Liege waffle with different toppings like Nutella, strawberry slices, whipped cream, and Nutella flavoured gelato. I wanted to add more toppings but I thought they were too expensive ~$1-2 each, like a squirt of whipped cream is $1 when a whole can costs ~$3. The waffle was tasty though and it did fill us up, which was our purpose of coming here. If I ever come back, I would just get the Nutella gelato because that's something I can't make at home. read more
Fun little place to visit even if you don't consider yourself a fan of Nutella. My partner and I got a Nutella mocha and a Nutella waffle. I looooved the waffle- it was perfectly fluffy and crunchy. If you're in a hurry, I'd skip this place. Long line to get in. Long line to order. Long line for the restrooms. Everything was clean and tidy, and I didn't have too much trouble finding a place to sit. Love the concept! read more

During my walk around the downtown area I had stopped by the Nutella cafe around lunchtime and again around 4 PM. At both times the cafe had a long line. I decided to go wait in line around 4PM since the line was slightly shorter. Despite this, the wait was still about 20-30 minutes so be prepared to be standing outside for a while. Made some conversation with some other people in line and was told that if you do get their jar of Nutella with your name on it to be wary since it might be too large to travel back with if you are flying home. I would double check with your airline and review the TSA guidelines. As I got closer to the front of the line, I was informed that they were running out of Nutella which is a bit disappointing as that is one of the main ingredients to a majority of their menu items. Once I got inside, there was another line to order items and the cafe itself was a bit crowded but well decorated with their staple colors. They had a large Nutella statue which was amazing for photo o I ordered their hot chocolate and banana toast which. The hot chocolate wasn't rich or creamy. It was good but taking into account the price and size I would not recommend. Same goes with the banana toast as the portion was too small and there was a lack of Nutella used on it. read more

My daughter and I happened to walk by and decided to stop in and check it out. It's so cute inside. Lots of holiday decorations and it smells amazing in here. We got the Nutella hot chocolate and Nutella stuffed croissant. The hot chocolate came with a Nutella stuffed biscuit (cookie) and both were really good. The hot chocolate wasn't too sweet and it was a good drinking temperature. The croissant had empty warm Nutella inside and was flaky and delicious. There was a nice person who helped us at the register and our order came out pretty quick. Definitely glad we happen to come upon this place! read more

Over hyped restaurant! The worst part was I was waiting in line from 15 minutes and when my turn came she told register is not working we only take cash. Why would you not let us know earlier? I had cream brulee which was loaded with extreme sugar and little of nutela. I mean then why this dish was part of menu? It's a bit expensive compare to quantity they provide. Please don't waste your time and money here read more

In my opinion, this place is extremely overrated. Everything is pretty expensive, and yes, it's good, but in my experience, it wasn't amazing. This place has a HUGE wait normally, but thankfully when we came here recently, we just had to wait outside for like 10 minutes before going inside because they were at capacity. The place is pretty small and tables are extremely pushed together so you are on top of other people at other tables once you sit. When we came here, there was a super moody girl working the register who kept rolling her eyes at nothing and giving her coworkers and customers attitude. Sadly, I don't remember her name. Someone asked if they knew where Chipotle was because they ordered a coffee from there, but wanted dinner at Chipotle, and the other girl was so nice and said, "I'm so sorry, I'm not sure but let me ask her" and she asked this girl, and she gave the snootiest look and rolled her eyes and said, "I have no clue." Lucky for us, she brought my friend's iced latte to our table, too. My friend's iced latte was honestly pretty disgusting. It tasted like chocolate milk with no espresso taste, and the nutella inside made it chunky... the coffee wasn't even cold and didn't have ice in it. My friend's brother ate the nutella crepes and asked for the bananas on the side, and it looked good, but it definitely was nothing special. Easily something I can make and throw on a plate at home... especially since everyone can go and buy Nutella at Jewel or wherever. Overall, definitely not worth a long wait. read more

If you like Nutella, then this is definitely a place you want to hit up on your trip to Chicago. Is it a total tourist trap?- sure! But that's the fun part-- whether it's Hershey's Chocolate World or M&M's World or Nutella Cafe-- these places aren't in every city, so you have to enjoy them when you go to all the big tourist areas. I actually never knew there was a Nutella Cafe concept but upon further review online, this appears to be the first of its kind (at least in the US). I knew I wanted to go for a sweet treat after the Chicago Marathon. So we went the day after the race. It was pretty rainy outside. And because this is a tourist attraction, there is normally a line. So we waited outside in the rain for about 25 minutes before being seated indoors. They have a vast array of all types of sweet Nutella fare. I knew I had to get the crepes, ice cream and Nutella hot chocolate. My boyfriend opted for just the waffles. The food came out pretty fast and we enjoyed our treats. Only downside to this place is the size. It is smaller and can't seem to hold all of the hungry tourists that want to experience it. Also, the tables were pretty close together. I also felt like we couldn't relax and enjoy our coffee and hot cocoa afterwards because you just feel guilty knowing people are standing outside in the rain waiting for your table. Luckily, it's all served in to-go cups. My hope is that they will soon expand to a bigger location in the Magnificent Mile. read more

The nutella cafe is definitely for tourists. I guess I went because I realized that I had never gone before and wanted to experience it. The line was very long, which made sense. We ordered this waffle and added extra nutella and raspberries. It was very expensive for the portion, since there wasn't that much. There is actually more seating than expected on the inside so that was nice and we didn't have a hard time finding somewhere to sit even on a Friday night. The cashier was great and we donated to St Jude's. read more

Stopped by around 7pm. It wasn't busy. We got the chia pudding & an espresso shot, as well as 3 bags of cookies. There are only 12 cookies per bag - wish they had an even larger package of cookies! It was an interesting, yummy stop in Chicago. Would love to try the crepes next time! read more
Not worth it. Thankfully the line was only about 2-3 people only ahead of us. But the croissant with Nutella wasn't even worth a pic. They literally took a plain croissant you can buy anywhere and sliced it a few inches right down the middle and squirted some Nutella in. Anyone could do it at home. I fell for the hype and REGRETTED wasting my $$ here. Don't bother. SERIOUSLY. read more
Why does this have the longest line on earth? Because... they only let one party in at a time and the kitchen staff doesn't really work efficiently. We got there right around 750 (opens at 8) and we're watching the workers inside. We were all waiting in line but the workers were working like it's still opening time and there are no customers. That was very frustrating. Not an efficiently run joint. Now the food, we ordered banana bread which they told me it's out so I replaced it with crepe with Nutella and fruit. How is it out at 8am?! You're screwed for the rest of the day then... We also got a croissant and coffee. Surprisingly, they were delicious! Croissant was flaky, baked so well. Crepe wasn't over or under cooked. Everything was awesome. But was it worth the 45 min wait...? No. They were so good but waiting that long for Nutella you can get from Costco... no. 7.5 Gryffindor points out of 10. read more

I've never been a huge Nutella fan myself, but I enjoy trying new things. When a friend and I were visiting the city, we decided to swing by and try a couple of things. I know people warn that this is a tourist trap, but you can get a couple of small items at a not too unreasonable cost. We tried the croissant ($5.25) and the Grilled Banana Bread ($5.95). Everything was definitely tasty, and this was a nice way to have a little - or a lot of - Nutella. read more

My sister was in Chicago for a sporting tournament with her daughter this weekend and it happened to be her birthday weekend. Because she was not going to be home and we couldn't spend it with her, we wanted to buy her a treat at the Nutella Cafe - a spot she was excited to visit. I called ahead and they were so very helpful and willing to help make her birthday special. We couldn't be more appreciative of this amazing customer service!!! Shout out to Abby!! They thoroughly enjoyed their crepes and fondue and can't wait to visit again! read more

Overpriced and not worth the long line. I do not recommend the hot chocolate. $7.81 for "Nutella" hot chocolate but it had no Nutella flavor at all and was very watered down. If I'm paying that much for a specialty drink I expect it to taste good. The crepes looked good. read more
A fun spot with fun food. We went on the Monday after the Chicago marathon and the line extended outside the store, so it took about 30 min to get our order placed. The big attraction is being able to get a customized jar of Nutella, but the food is great too. We ordered the croissant French toast, banana bread, waffles, and affogato Gelato. Everything was delicious and filled with Nutella goodness. Definitely worth a stop when in town. read more
