Oh boy...not sure where to start. I went in last weekend to this location for the first time. I took my 12-year-old son to see Alex to get a toner on his hair. I was told Alex had 10 yrs. as a color specialist. Taylor stated it would be around $30 as I've learned to ask. Sitting in the waiting room, after 3 sips of coffee, my son returned with Alex and said he was finished. Really? I couldn't see the color as his short hair was soaking wet dripping on his shirt. He whispered something to the lady as we checked out and my jaw dropped as it was $60 for a 3-minute service. Mind you, it is very dark in the salon so there is no way to tell how the color turned out, especially with wet hair (not even a quick towel dry). We walked to the car and I noticed dark toner all over my son's neck, forehead & sides. I wiped it off as best as I could as we had to be somewhere in 30 minutes. Once we got there, his hair was dry...stunned at how it looked. The toner wasn't applied to his entire head missing the perimeter of his hairline by 1/2 inch to an inch. Some places were patchy. Enough being nice now... I was so upset I had my husband call and tell them about our experience. We didn't want to go back to Alex but they said no one else was open at their other 2 locations. Sadly, we had no other option but to return to Alex who came out with a huge attitude when I showed him the areas he missed. He was a complete a** and didn't acknowledge (stared at me and my son) his sloppy, 3-minute mess. He told my son to come back and he would re-do it. 15-minutes later, he brings my son to me and says, "Is this to your liking"? If my sweet son wasn't with me, I would have popped him in the mouth. He's lucky I'm from the South and not the NE! Nice millennial attitude. Stay away from ALEX! No wonder why he was the only one who had several openings that day. Great place and nice atmosphere. Aveda products are beyond fantastic, after my color everybody notices the vibrant and shiny look of my hair. I love that looks so healthy. The stylists are very skilled and very professional. I go religiously every 4 weeks there and I always leave the salon absolutely satisfied and feeling great!! After 7 weeks of not having my hair colored due to unforeseen circumstances, through a recommendation I was lucky enough to get an appointment with Jen at Cooper Creek. My hair was brassy, grey & a number of shades. Jen converted the products used previously to Aveda & the result was amazing. I never had the perfection in color as I did from Jen. I was in Sarasota on a business trip and needed a color touch up. I texted the salon who responded very quickly. Luckily they had a cancellation and were able to accommodate me on the same day. My appointment was with Sharline. I cannot say enough about Sharline. We began with a consultation where she was very attentive to my wishes and concerns. She made recommendations and followed through with exactly how we decided to proceed. My color came out AMAZING. I walked out feeling like a million bucks! LOVE this salon. I have been coming here for eight years....wow. And for me to be going to a hair salon for eight years says a lot. In the past, I was not loyal at all with my hair stylists. I'd get a recommendation from one friend, go, have a great haircut, stick with them for a year and then dump them for another recommendation I received from another friend. Because in my mind, someone new could always make my hair more magical and wonderful than the last. Right. Eight years ago, I had a co-worker recommend Nuovo to me and specifically, Derek for my hair needs. He had me at my first cut & highlight, and I haven't strayed since! I love that Nuovo uses all Aveda products, they are my favorite, but they don't pressure you into buying product you don't need. And Derek does an amazing job with cut & color, I always get so many compliments on my hair. He is extremely talented, is up do date on all the latest trends and is worth every penny. I am nosy and always look at everyone else's hair from the other stylist's who work at Nuovo, and this salon is filled with talented hair artists. Simply the best salon in Sarasota. They exclusively use Aveda products and have an extensive product selection. The staff greets you warmly and makes sure you have a beverage to enjoy. The stylists are artists and take their time to listen to your requests and do it right. It is comfortable and never feels hectic even when they are busy. I have been a client of James at Nuovo , probably for at least 15 years....that should tell you all you need to know! However, if you need it spelled out....James and the Nuovo team are awesome, could not ask for a better stylist or a better salon. I can still remember the first time I went with over-processed permed hair and James made my hair look human again. I feel there will always be someone out there looking for the "perfect" stylist for the least expensive price, I believe you get what you pay for; and for me and my entire family, that is Nuovo. Came here for highlights after moving to the area. Was told AFTER she colored my hair that the next time I came she should be able to achieve the color that I had asked for. Came back a second time and still didn't get the result I wanted. Was told again that the next time I came in it would look how I wanted. I figured it was just the stylist so I made another appointment with a different stylist. Go figure, she told me the same thing. How hard is it to do blonde hair? I've been having my hair colored for 20 years and have never had this problem before. I actually contacted them and explained my issue. I was told that they would set me up to come back and have my hair fixed, they would call me in 2 days. That was a month ago. Terrible customer service. read more

I have worked with Katy for 8 years at Nuovo in downtown Sarasota. She is amazing and I highly recommend her! She is my second stylist at Nuovo, as my first one, who was equally wonderful and talented, moved away. I've also worked with Marissa for updos and makeup. Paid a high price to get a master stylist to cut and color my hair. David. ALthough he was nice, he treated me just "meh". My haircut is nothing special and unfortunately I will have to live with it for three or four weeks till it grows out more to get it restyled. If this is master stylist work, I'd hate to see what the less experienced stylists do. Seems like David might be burnt out? Do NOT go to Nuovo salon. After having cut, color and highlight. I lost my hair around my ear. Highlights were over processed and when I called and sent a picture of my head I did not get a respond. I then called and asked for some compensation for which they denied. Customer service is TERRIBLE. For this service it was $180.00. read more

I had an appointment for a haircut. They called me 15 minutes before my app't to tell me stylist was running late. I was already in Sarasota and I didn't get the call. Got to the salon and after waiting for 10 minutes I asked about how much longer it was going to be. Stylist came out and said it would be another half an hour. I couldn't wait as I had another app't. I choose David Roodbeen as a master stylist to cut my hair. I was very disappointed, he completely misjudged the shape of my face and the hairstyle is nothing but boring and impossible to style. I lost the feminine look. I showed him couple of pictures and we agreed on a certain hairstyle, but the result was COMPLETELY different in style and length. I don't remember me feeling so uncomfortable with a new hairstyle as this one for ages. If a master stylist misjudges what fits and what not and doesn't cut well, what the others do?? Don't bother with this salon. Inexperienced stylists left both my daughter and I wilth badly done blow-outs. Our hair is easy--straight and not too long. Just wanted nice blow-out for a photo shoot. Left feeling like it was a total waste of time and money. read more
